If you install the java, then run the server and get the same error you got above, then you will need to do 1 of 2 things,
- easier: uninstall other javas, (unless you need them do 2)
- harder: Edit the start.bat file to use the full path to the java.exe for java 8

If it crashed, it should just ask for a key to continue or just straight up close. Otherwise it may just freeze and need a poke (press enter)

launch.bat will use all the arguments set in it. If you start the server via the jar file itself you wont get those args and it will use the pcs highest version of java

I keep receiving this crash right after launch. Crash log says "invalid java runtime configuration". I have repaired profile and installation and it seems to have not done anything even though other forms say that is fix. Edit: seems to be a 1.7.10 minecraft forge version issue. I have installed it on a regular vanilla minecraft profile and it seems to do the same thing as well as going to previous versions of forge on the curse forge profile.

the log message is pretty clear. potion IDs between biomes o plenty and immersive engineering conflict. you can't load those with vanilla as they are mods - so no idea how you can say vanilla produces the same error. check timestamps when you look at crash-report.txt files to confirm they were actually generated by your crash or if the crash/stop you encounter leaves only a latest.log in 'logs' and no crash-report.txt
most of your mods have much newer versions in 1.18.2 that work great by the way.

so; after i updated my amd drivers; my fps in skyfactory went from 50-80 (depending on the location i was) to 10-20 and i have absolutely no clue what caused this
yet at some locations it goes back up to 80 just for me to turn around, looking at like 5 blocks and having 10 fps again

as stated, i did nothing besides updating drivers, and after that i had this insane fps drop (no ingame settings are anything like that changed)
i tested to turn off every single animation setting for good measure and i didnt gain a single fps, so i guess there is 1 specific problem but no idea what it is

if you don't already have - the mod 'entity culling' is a client side mod that prevents most unseen things from rendering (amazingly vanilla doesn't behave like that... i know.)

install that mod (can be only your client but on the server would also be good). after you boot with it the first time go to the config file and edit to increase the timeout times to max allowed.
also be sure you are allocating 6-8gb of memory/ram as it's a large modpack

@fierce fiber for resource packs and shaders, you need a mod called OptiFine. You'll have to download and install it manually though since it's not available through the CurseForge website.
You also may need to look for new (OptiFine supported) shaders.

i have already done that. but when i try to use shaders and cf resource packs they dont work at the same time
it loads 2 diffrent versions of minecraft 1 with the shader and the other with the resource packs
