if you really do have a mod with a memory leak then it is not a sustainable problem - adding more ram only buys slighly more time. the only real solution is removing it or getting a non broken modpack to use

Hmm, sorry for the delay responding to this -- that's wacky. That log seems to contain a quark-related error due to some failure to unregister listeners when it is disabling some module during load. Can you try running without quark and its dependencies if any (something called zeta, perhaps)? I do see later model issues, but they appear to happen after this initial issue (not saying there's some Excavated-Variants-related issue here, I just would need a log to work with without that quark issue to be able to track it down). Can you also share how you narrowed this down to Excavated Variants (so I can test locally)? I don't see anything immediately pointing to DynAssetGen in that log, not even any of my mixins. Regardless, this looks like it's going to be a pain to track down in either case, so I'll give it a poke (and try to figure out what's going on in BCLib's mixins that might conflict with my changes) when I have a chance.

Chroma was the one who narrowed it down to Excavated Variants... he said he removed it after it caused one of these crashes (where normally you'd have to do a complete reinstall to get it to launch again) and it the pack launched back up fine. Happens pretty randomly, he said. Sometimes when you install a mod

Root cause appears (?) to be an NPE happening in CustomModelBakery#loadCustomModels in bclib (boy, that's some wacky stuff bclib is doing, I'd think that this would cause all sorts of problems but i guess not), which I'm struggling to track down the cause of due to it being parallel. If I had to guess, the real issue is swallowed in the crash report becaue of that, and the parallelism would explain why it's inconsistent

Looks like something in that lambda is failing during the parallel evaluation, but then the relevant forkjointask also throws when trying to construct the resulting exception?

So basically, logs aren't going to contain whatever this issue is. I try to always explicitly log errors on my end if they're within a scope where I catch stuff for this reason, but -- obviously not going on here

So, best approach I can think of is to make a bclib build that keeps that parallel (so the issue still happens if necessary), but wraps it in a try/catch block with logging so the error is printed?

Click play in curseforge, the launcher opens, click "Installations" at the top, click on your modpack, click on the "more options" button under resolution, you will see JVM Arguments that look something like this "-Xmx2048m -Xms256m" the Xmx is the max ram and the Xms is minimum ram. Change the Xmx number 26624m or 26g, and leave everything else alone. so it should look like -Xmx26624m -Xms256m and a bunch of other stuff, don't touch any of the rest of it.

i actually just tweaked the shader settings to make the nights a bit more realistic and darker

which should make it even more horror like
