and they can definitely change stuff in their servers and setups without you doing anything

Had an idea for a mod but I lack the ability to create it
Sorta like a custom GUI system that lets modpack developers edit the way a player's inventory functions & appears, eg. adding/removing/repositioning slots and elements, locking some slots to certain functions, having 'stack' slots for small items (eg. terraria's coin system, how coins have their own dedicated space), and allowing custom keybinds to swap to/use/etc. items in specific slots
Would allow for some really cool functionality by completely changing the way the player's inventory looks & functions, which can drastically help with immersion & fluidity

The issue with mcreator is it doesnt play well with mods that are coded from scratch. Its not that people arent helpful with it. Just using it can set you up for more issues in the long run. So most tend to try and steer people away from it to save you from future pain.

Your pc can have really any java version on it. For minecraft the mc launcher handles its own java. So the cf app will download and store the needed versions for you / use those.

The Iris dev wasn't happy about some things to do with CF, some other devs agreed as well, so they left and went elsewhere. A lot of those things have since been fixed.
As for malware, I do not know of any specific examples where malware has stayed on the platform for an extended period of time.
Also remember that there is always a risk of getting malware when downloading anything from the internet. Curseforge does check everything that gets uploaded, but things can slip through, as with any platform. If a situation like that does come up, make sure to report the project so it can be taken down quickly.

I know where the drama the video is talking about is taken from. The primary concern was a posting of an unmodified fork of another mod on CurseForge, an issue which has since been resolved I believe.

because its being outlined in the video that people have started to steal mods and put it on CF, possibly having malware like modifications in the mod, and even the moderator that responded to my post said can still happen, what's stopping them from coming back, stealing someone else's hard work posting it with malware like modifications, and watch to see if someone cant tell the difference, and then their pc is a virus inside of it. or its used to gain money from someone else's work. and what's stopping them from using bunches of accounts and using a VPN as to not get IP banned. as some start trickling in more and more will come until there is a permanent fix for it or we will need to make a sort of mod verification system
