Anyone else here using the standalone curseforge client for Minecraft? I just had an auto update and my instances, so all my modpacks, have just vanished. poof. I'm kinda panicking but mostly extremely frustrated.
My curseforge folder did not change, same as before this update, but it wiped everything in instances and install.

Found a "Backups" folder which seems to be mocking me. Backup dated from today, right before this """update""" and contains minecraft.exe and nothing else.

can't really be bothered filing proper feedback so i'll put it here if anyone else is willing to file it. All of this space and the filenames are still elided 😐 The 'game version' and 'mod loaders' columns also seem to have space for the sorting arrow indicator but cannot be sorted. And the mod loader filter ought to just say 'Forge' as it is only available for Forge for all Minecraft versions.

Sims is fussy about file locations, and the CF app struggles to find stuff that's on external drives. I'd recommend moving any other documents/photos etc that you can to make space before you move Sims related files. If there's still not enough room, you may have to take a look at which mods and cc you don't really use an move them out so you can add stuff you will use.

This should work if you're on Windows
- In your mods folder, make a text file called
mods2text.bat, overwriting the.txtextension (name doesn't matter but .bat extension does!) - Right click and click edit which'll open Notepad. Paste the following:
dir /b > files.txt. - Save and execute.

Updating mods for packs you didnt make is a bad idea and not recommended.
You will need to contact who ever has sudo perms and ask em to install/setup J8 and the linux alternatives OR pic a pack that can run on 1.18+

Hello, regarding minecraft, I created a hosted single player to play with my friends and we created a mob farm that is 138 above y level. When only one is online, the mob farm spawn is so fast but when there are 2 players in the world and only one is hitting the mobs in the mob farm then another one is below the ground, no mob spawn above the farm. Is that normal? If so, what should we do?

That is normal.
It happens because of how minecraft spawns mobs. In any minecraft dimension there is a limit to how many mobs can exist in a category (ie water, passive, hostile). Once that limit is reached, no more mobs are spawned for that category.
The person underground is loading a bunch of chunks that are spawning mobs, and those mobs are taking up the mob cap, meaning no more mobs spawn in the farm.
I believe later (1.19+) versions of the game fixed this by making the mob cap per player, but I'm not entirely sure.
There isn't really a solution other than not having a second player in the same dimension as the mob farm

We tried experimenting and it seems to work. If we are both in the same x and z axis, the mob won't spawn, but if one goes away, the mob farm spawn is fast for another player

No, as long as there is another player in that dimension with valid mob spawning spaces around it the mob farm will not work. Distance does not matter (you could have the mob farm at one world border and the second player at the other and it wouldn't work)

Yes I think it work because we tried experimenting, I am at x-309 y+208 z-70 and my friend is in x-340 y+60 z-100 and the mob farm still works. But when we go to the same x and z axis but different y-axis the mob farm stops working
He can also see in his minimap that there are mobs where he is standing when he got far away but the spawning in mob farm still is fast in the mob farm
So I'm not 100% sure but I think distance has a bearing to the spawn rate in each player in a hosted single player world
I'll try putting the mob farm more higher, maybe I'll follow your y+256 and see what will happen
