I thought maybe it was the change I did, a number vaule, so I revert it. Same issue

hi... i have a modpack which started to break on minecraft version 1.16.5... i tried things like launching older packs which at first didn't work however after relaunching and several "Repair Installations" versions like 1.12.2 (lower I am not sure about) and 1.17.1+ worked whilst strangely 1.16.5 refused to launch and consistently behaved the same way reporting back the same error on modpacks I had already made. Same situation for creating profiles where it'd happily make a 1.12.2 profile or 1.17.1 profile but refused to create any forge version of a 1.16.5 profile... reporting everytime "installation failed".
How do i change the default file to the latest one?
Set the latest as release, instead of alpha

All versions of Forge for Minecraft 1.13 up to and including 1.16.5 are not compatible with M1/M2 Mac due to Apple removing support for methods used by Forge. This would need to be fixed by Apple.

Some people have reported that leaving the game minimized until it has loaded completely can work

As for the server.jar, that stopped being a thing after 1.17. Ask your host about using newer forge versions

you would need something to execute that command, or run the teleport code
so a mod, or some datapack magic to detect a right click and run the teleport command
some people have managed to make datapack based portals, but they are kinda laggy if you have a lot of entities/portals

Mods are made by authors not Curseforge (which is a file host). Any documentation would be on the mod dev to present on their project page (or links to)

hey i have the same error and the only fix ive found is selecting the option "repair installation" every time i launch curseforge, otherwise i would get nativa launcher error.... I dont know why. I have found that not changing the general allocated ram lets you launch the modpack so you have to edit allocated ram of the modpack profile itself.

The first error quite clearly says what is wrong
For the second one, press Ctrl + O to see what methods there are to override. Those methods could of changed signatures since the tutorial for whatever you were following was for (if that is the case, you should find a more up to date tutorial)
Also check you are actually extending whatever you are meant to be extending

Hello, I've been wondering how to build structures in Minecraft with python. So far the best (if not only) way I've found is using RCON and sending thousands of /setblock commands in sequence, which is quite slow (would say around 50 blocks/sec?). Although the server TPS does not falter so I'm guessing mcrcon app is at fault there. I've also tried multi threaded approach but it wont let me.
Is there any faster/better way of doing that. Obvious answer would be to write a mod I know, but I don't wanna.

There are no mods that I know o that allow interacting with MC via python
There are ones for other languages, such as Javascript (KubeJS) or Zenscript (CraftTweaker), but they don't provide the full scope of what you might expect (ie no network access).
One option could be writing a .nbt file with python (or a .snbt then using a spare server jar to convert it), then saving that to the worlds structures folder, and loading that via a couple of /setblock commands of a structure block + redstone block

I got it working in singleplayer, but I structure block cant seem to detect .nbt files I copied into the server/structures directory. (I could say, save a structure in-game named 'a', delete said file and still be able to load said structure). Restarting the server may fix that but I dont like that fix, Is there any way to force reload structures from said folder or such without restarting the server? thanks

Your pack.mcmeta has a sneaking .txt extension.
In file explorer go to the View tab, then check the box to Show File Extensions.
Then you can rename it and remove the rogue extension

If it does, then yes, there are features in 1.19.4 (forge major version 45) that changed a lot from 1.19.2, namely how creative tabs work in code.
The build.gradle is a file in mod development enviroments that contains code that tells gradle (the build tool) how to set up the project, like which minecraft version to use, and properties of the output .jar.
If all you currently have is a .jar, then you cannot easily turn that back into a development enviroment. you would need to clone the source of the mod, which is usually found on a site like github, however not all mods upload their source. You also have to take into account the mods license, some don't allow porting and you need to get special permission

also im pretty sure that means you cannot distribute it, thats all.
I think it depends on the countries laws that you use, though I'm not a lawyer and havent looked into that

theres two things you need, a tint index in the model json, and registering the block to be tinted in code. I believe the BlockColors class deals with that. For forge i believe the client setup event is the place to do it, probably using event.enqueWork to avoid threading issues (when two mods try to do it at the same time).

Is there getting-started information for modding games other than Minecraft/Sims4? I'm looking at Curseforge as an alternative to my own home-grown solution to mods for Dungeons and Dragons Online, which isn't even a supported game at this point afaict. I'm quite capable if pointed in the right direction.
There isn't, cause the information in there is collected from various communities and people who know how to mod those games and use the existing tools made by other people.
If you want to suggest a game to add to the site you can do so via a ticket: https://support.curseforge.com, however that doesn't just magically create things like mod loaders and communities around those.
If a game doesn't support mods, the first thing to do would be make a mod loader, which I believe is usually done by injecting code into the game. You would need to check the games eula/tos to see if that is allowd and to what extend (ie minecraft requires no minecraft code is redistributed, so mod loader's installers modify the game files locally, using a patcher system).
That probably requires a lot of experience in whatever the game is written in.
I would say the most important thing is probably the community tho, so see if you can get some other people together who also want to make mods for that game. Many hands make light work
That's exactly what I'm already doing (dll injection). There's neither permission nor prohibition for it in the DDO EULA, though they have experience with community-run mods dating back to the early 2000s and have always allowed them.

I know in earlyer versions of minecraft modpacks like what I run you can make vanilla tools obsolete with certain mods but not realy sure what those mods would be for later versions of the game
you should be able to do it through a datapack. have a look at the vanilla wiki for info on how datapacks work, and you can unzip the ars jar to have a look at the base mods datapack (mod jars act as datapacks)

I definitely think theres still a future for Forge, but if you prefer Fabric mods then it makes sense to make Fabric mods so you can keep using the mods you want
or there are various multiloader setups you can use, once you get some experience modding.

The problem with that is that saying 'I will help you' is a big commitment for some, and it is very dissapointing for both parties when that person ends up not being able to help.
Because of that, only absolute experts in an area will often be able to say with certainty 'I can help you', and there are very few experts in most areas, so very few people who would help you with that original problem. ('rendering a chicken')
However, if you provide more information about the problem then someone who isn't an expert may take a look and go 'oh, I can actually help with this'. It may even turn out that someone who knows very little about what your original question is can solve it, because the issue is something else they can see in your code.
Providing more information up front also reduces the total time it takes for an answer to be gotten, as due to timezones there can often be many hours between two peoples messages, so any messages that you can eliminate (like asking for code, and giving code) shortens that time by a lot.

Trying to add Create as a dependency and the runClient fails with 5 errors. However if I export the jar for my mod into my own test enviorment with Create everything works. Any ideas on how to fix the enviorment Gradle is using?

I'm trying to use the 'TickEvent.PlayerTickEvent' event for some NBT data, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be running. I've tried using println as the first thing, tried sending a chat, spawning a particle, spawning an entity, killing the player.. nothing seems to run in the event. Any reason of the top of anyone's head that this could be the case?

I have a problem. I am trying to make my custom dimension, and I had a bunch of help and i thought I had it ready. But the game doesn't recognize it. The portal lights but does nothing when i go in it. The execute on command does not list my dimension, which implies that it does not appear to exist in the game. Im not sure what I did wrong, I'm very new to this. there are only old archived logs in there, the gitignore specifically excludes actual logs
(for good reason, logs arent really the sort of thing you want in a git repo)
the two most recent log archives both show crashes to do with your portal block, not dimension related

Hey guys i am currently trying to create a container for a serversided mod, where you can click on some inventory slots like buttons. Despite me having overwritten the canTakeStack method in the custom-slot class with return false, i can still pickup the item and place it in the slot. The problem is that this calls the slotClick action twice. Maybe someone ran into a similar problem and can help me out.

I think you can start with either one. I have only used Fabric, so I don't know how the development experience is with the other ones.
Quilt and Fabric should be quite similar, since Quilt is a pretty recent Fork of Fabric.
I think Forge has more pre made hooks build in, so you don't have to use so called Mixins that often, which might safe some time (again, I have not used Forge), but in my biased opinion Mixins are not very complicated to use and you might need them in Forge anyway.
Also, I recently learned that the Forge Discord server explicitly doesn't offer help for older version, so you would need to find a seperate community for that (which might not be that hard, idk).

So the modpack is a 1.18.2 modpack with 230+ mods. I’m having a critical bug that causes the modpack to be somewhat unplayable. If anyone has any information regarding a fix, this would be deeply appreciated!
The bug is with world gen. It can occur when loading chunks in a world or when creating a new world.
When it occurs during new world creation, the bar will get suck on 100%, and will never move. It will be stuck there and the only way to get out of it is to use task manager to close Minecraft.
When it occurs in world, the worlds stops loading chunks and completely stops ticking. Entities will stop moving and drops will not spawn. If you try to leave the world it’ll get suck forever on “saving world”. Causing you to need task manager again.
I’ve tested all my world gen mods individually and they all work fine. Getting performance boosting mods seems to reduce the frequency of the bug slightly, but it still occurs. I can’t find a fix due to me lack of Java knowledge and I desperately need the help of someone who’s experienced in fishing out bugs.
I won’t post the mod list here because this message will get too large so please tell me if you want more info so I can DM it to you. There is no error message because this bug does not crash/close the game.

In command prompt run jps -l
that will give you at least two numerical ids, one of them will be JPS itself and one of the others will be minecraft. hopefully there is only one other. or its labelled with minecraft, forge or similar
take the id from that and run this command in command prompt: jstack <id> > stack.txt (dont include the <>, so it looks like jstack 21884 > stack.txt)
then look for the stack.txt file in the folder that command prompt is open in (probably your user folder; C:\Users\My Username) and send that file (stack.txt) here by drag and dropping it

This stack was generated while the game was on the pause screen. But the world was frozen and ticks were stopped. Like how i described it. I caused it to happen this time because i remember the location of a chunk that caused it, so i just revisited that location and bam

Hi so i need some help. i have made a mod pack in 1.19.2 with around 200 ish mods now most of these mods are pretty small scale just add small new items or client side or just performance increasers. the main big ones are the terrain generation mods of which there are. Terralith, better end, Incendium, town and towers, and all of the young series mods better desert temples ocean monuments etc. ther are some more but they are very minor and dont effect terrain they just add small structure into a village for eg like a tower. the main issue im having is when generating new chuncks sometimes the server just starts spiking in ram like crazy going from a solid 6 to instantly up to 12 then 14 15 eventually 19 and then 20 and the server crashing. which is so odd considering minecraft shouldnt be using that much ram anyways and this is only with one player online. i would be willing to share everysingle mod in teh mod to someone who is wiling to help me figure out why this is happening. i also contacted the server hosting i use and they tried to help they came to conclusion its a memory leak with a mod that keep leaking memory when you are gening new chunks or somthing around those lines. i also have spark installed and could help with getting you a heapdumb or a profiler summery to read that could potentially help.

Can anyone help me understand how minecraft custom loot_tables work for mods like gokistats? I am using the 1.12.2 version and it apparently uses loot_tables for several of its skills, but the skills don't seem to function even when I put points into them. I know its probably a dumb idea but is there a way to make 1.8.9 mod to work on other versions of forge (for example 1.16.5) the same way as it does in 1.8.9?
you would have to completely rewrite the mod
no other way - the code is so different that it's more like a distant cousin you never met

you could code a tool that does it for you
but that would take at least 100x longer
and the resulting mod would be nigh unmaintainable

Heyo. Developing mod for 1.19.2 forge with curios dependance. Problem: curios does not load while running client in dev environment. If add dependancies into mod.toml, the game crashes, as expected
While loading mod on separate minecraft environment with curios installed, everything works fine.

hello all, im on mc 1.16 using FTB Money. Does anyone know what could cause me to not be able to change the icons of these loot boxes? i try to set it within the reward table but the actual icon never changes. like 2 years ago it worked since globetrotter is a missing texture now

Do you guys recommend doing like one - two sections today (like terrain or performance) or just full send it and do as much as possible asap for making modpacks
I would recommend to take time for projects, dont rush them.
For modpacks I personally priorise the performance than other facts.
You can have as many mods installed as possible, if it doesn't run smoothly in the end it would be sad :/
Performance should be also the first thing which you add with coremods.

I'm not sure how to correct this, so I'm going to ask this here. I created a new project on Curseforge (and I can see it in my projects list) but chose a name that was too generic which fits a subcategory search on curseforge. So when I click on "View" link it just takes me to the subcategory search vs the mod page to edit the details. I spent a lot of time formatting and structuring the Description, so I don't want to lose that work, but would like to rename the project and relink the "View". Would it be possible to in the meantime have it renamed and relinked and then I can change it in the "Manage Project" overlay afterwards?
I still want to do some work and edits before uploading the mod and resourcepack files. Thank you for any help, realized my mistake after I got stuck

Does anyone have any guides or support on designing minecraft modpacks? I know how to put mods into a pack but I was wondering if there are any tips or tricks to make the pack more stable, optimized, etc... I've been designing one for me and my partner with ~233 mods and it is super unstable and impossible to join LAN without crashes
make it slowly, by adding mods a few at a time and testing with those mods before adding more.
yes it does take a lot of time, but this way you can tell which mods cause an issue (the ones you just added)
