every crest needs a rep, at least

Which one could say "all of it, and you switch beforehand" but that's the easy hypothetical to implement. That's why I'm more inclined to look at it from the angle of having to make a choice.

honestly, i want to say give down-air to witch

its is super unique

sure

that's also a reasonable tack

Overall if they work together I'd be happy to see them mixed.

who does she slap other than kratt and yarnaby, again?

Taunt’s obvious of course.

Rune Rage up smash a bit like MewTwo would make sense.

What was your image for up-b silk soar? I don't disagree, I just think it needs a lot of changes from canon soar. (I think it would probably be launching you up a set distance with a nasty but narrow hitbox above and something to protect from side attack?)

#

Also, where does her glide fit in?

Rivals of Aether workshop has an absurd amount of shockingly high-effort characters, go play it

#

last i checked there's a reasonably active discord with weekly workshop tournaments and a big selection of curated legal characters

where else can you play in tournament as hornet vs wall-e

#

hollow knight got a new patch, fixing assorted bugs, QoL, and performance stuff

#

but one change that stands out: all reference to "years" have been removed from the game

#

dialogue now just says "ages" or "long ago"

safe yew
#

huh. wonder why

autumn kettle
#

...fascinating

#

what's the context of each of these?

#

like were there year counts

#

or was it just "years ago" -> "ages ago"

thorny bear
#

i'm pretty sure there weren't any specific numbers

autumn kettle
vagrant spruce
#

honestly that sounds like something they'd do less to remove weird-lore things and more as the process of standardizing translations

#

since i know they've made some kinda-major behind the scenes stuff w.r.t. the new chinese localizations for skong, due to the issues it (the in-game text, not the game itself) had on release. i wouldn't be surprised if the new style guide says that and they just applied it to HK for consistency

TIL the entire Green Prince quest and area are completely optional for 100% completion

#

I think with a game this big they really didn't need to commit to the "everything is either 0% or 1%" thing

inland wave

They didn't want to be unfair to the people who respected his wishes to be locked in a rancid cage

elfin ravine
#

a bunch of stuff just doesn't matter for completion

bosses in general don't give any unless they lock some kind of pickup

# thorny bear I think with a game this big they really didn't need to commit to the "everythin...

Honestly I think it's the opposite; they committed to the 0-100% too hard. More specifically they don't seem to have wanted any decimals, which consequently means you can only move from 0 to 1 to 2 and so on. This is why consequently any form of tool or something else concrete like a mask contributes, but seemingly important things like tool upgrades or in the case of Green Prince an entire area and major boss is more secondary and thus subsequently left out.

#

Though technically no mementos are counted towards the 100% completion rate (nor going beyond that), which is why gaining the 4th heart isn't part of that (though I'm not sure gaining any heart counts towards completion even if it's needed to progress, so y'know).

#

The funkiest to me is that you can skip a few of the memory lockets if you want to (5 to be specific, or 8 if they didn't patch the interaction with Hunter's Crest where you can skip upgrading it), since the only part there which counts towards completion is Eva.

thorny bear
#

they didn't need to make everything be exactly 1% or nothing, they could have had decimals

rose granite
#

I'd be inclined to agree, but yeah the ship has sadly sailed at this point.

#

It just hit me- Last Judge kinda parallels False Knight. A large imposing Knight that acts as a (potentially optional) roadblock to making major progress in the game, wielding a maze and being spawned from a helpless Maggot like creature that you can go ahead and slaughter in a secret.

The difference is there ain’t nothing false about Last Judge

thorny bear
#

I mean

#

oh I was going to say false Knight is mandatory, forgot you can leave the fight early

autumn kettle
thorny bear
#

but he still isn't entirely optional

autumn kettle
#

we see all the baby judges

thorny bear
#

honestly false Knight is fairly similar to bell beast

#

a very big boss that jumps over you and makes big round stuff fall from the ceiling, and eventually goes through the floor of the arena

autumn kettle
#

yeah in mechanical design

thorny bear
#

actually

autumn kettle
#

early boss that teaches you about the combat's verticality

#

and about field hazards

thorny bear
#

do we know for 100% that the dude who wore false Knight armor is dead

autumn kettle
#

nope

thorny bear
#

or is there an outside chance we'll eventually see him sorrowfully

autumn kettle
#

extremely small chance, based on the context of the lines

#

A maggot driven mad by a strange force. Inhabits a stolen armoured shell.

#

Failed Champion post-fight dialogue

I wanted it.... the strength to protect the others...

When I saw that Knight... sleeping... safe in his big armoured shell...

It wasn't madness that drove me to it... I just wanted it...

But... in the end? If strength cannot save you, then what can...?

#

technically it doesn't explicitly say the maggot killed Hegemol

#

but the implication is pretty heavy

thorny bear
#

ah, didn't know that

autumn kettle
#

yeah, alas sadcowboy

#

still

#

technically unconfirmed

#

i would not mind if we ran into like, a crippled hegemol in Sea of Sorrows

but sometimes you gotta force things for a joke

open stratus

Sorry, have been talking with people with very odd interpretations of the lore that read as jokes but are dead serious.

wanton bone
#

Okay, flea bounce is miserable.

autumn kettle
#

my sympathies

#

i had a much worse time with flea juggle than bounce

#

but it seems like just about everyone's got That One Fucking Flea Minigame

wanton bone
#

Oh I meant juggle.

autumn kettle
#

ahhh

#

yeah

#

that's the bitch.

wanton bone
#

Bounce was fine, I just swapped to reaper.

#

I did mount fey on hunter, but sustained pogos still like reaper.

#

But my style for the other two was “minimal effort” and juggle does not allow that.

autumn kettle
#

juggle actually does prefer minimal effort, it just

#

took a lot more getting used to to get there

#

shaman was absolutely the easiest for it for me

wanton bone
#

That's what I'm running.

#

I just keep mis-inputting.

i understand the pain

But you're supposed to dash into hit boxes in Hollow Knight 😔

Poor Ogre, they'll never beat the traitor lord like this.

thorny bear

it's inspiring how anyone can beat a professional athlete in a race using just the power of beating the shit out of them

thorny bear
#

last night I had a dream where they surprise released Sea of Sorrow, but then the next day they released an official Silksong slot machine gambling app, so everyone was really confused and conflicted

Depending on what that actually means… I would not mind.

I am adding video game threads to my list and saw skong existed here...
Just wanted to post my creature before I tabbed away, hopefully people enjoy them--

insane achievement

Saw a video of someone fighting Absolute Radiance with Hornet using a mod, but didn't even use clawline once, including several bits of "I'm drifting down and Radiance is a convinent clawline distance away with no immenint threats"

wanton bone

Flee Juggle down!

rotund magnet
#

I hate flea juggle

wanton bone
#

Tower down. I will say, silksong's arenas feel good once you get the hang of them.

rose granite
#

Yeah, tower IIRC tends to be quite nice if you have gear for it or similar.

#

Fair bit annoying with low damage, but beyond that it's neat.

wanton bone
#

Oh I'm basically maxed out.

#

Do have a bad habit of never pressing f though. Tools and skills are optional.

rose granite
#

Arenas do get noticeably easier if you have damage, even moreso than boss fights, since the overlapping attack patterns and natural area denial of multiple foes creates a lot of chaos.

#

The Maestros especially are rather noticeable in this regard.
