Well it seems like you have embrasures
So you need to delay them from reaching your position
Barbed wires, fully enclosing walls except for a singular point, etc
you should probably move the lines back further towards the right, maybe use that outcropping in the middle as a start

seconding what charlie said, you should try to set up your defenses so that a) you can get your pawns there quickly, and b) enemy pawns can't; the further your targets are from your shooters, the longer they can fire before they get engaged in melee
if you can narrow down where enemy raids usually walk while approaching your base, try putting down some landmines there, maybe adding some walls to funnel them better too
tbth we play on easy mode so our advice probably isn't the best, but this is all stuff that we do and it works pretty well
me with the hand of God deleting that creature because nope, biggest pain in the ass to fight as I am never prepared for it.

there is not afaik. TVs dont count for learning. Could stick em in a cryptosleep casket and disallow glittertech meds until you can cure the abasia
(sidenote: bloodfeeder kids who are deathresting will also not learn)
oh, we don't use glittertech meds outside of our biosculpter tubes
but i'll stick him in cryptosleep until i can find us more healer mech serum, that's a decent shout
honestly, he's only paralysed for less than a year
so he's not gonna miss that much learning, depending on how like
intense you are about maximizing learning
remember that kids age at 4x speed, so 27 days will get them most if not all the ways to the next growth stage (2 years away)

but also 17's colony is enormous
so imo they still get the later growth stages so it's whatever

is yayo's combat worth using? i tried it a while ago but burnt out before i got very far
honestly you've forgotten how infuriating vanilla(and yayos because it's just edited vanilla) is
while CE's deadliness can be annoying at times, watching 10 people spray an area and miss every single shot due to a diceroll is even more infuriating

My main problems with CE is getting the loadout system to work which is a skill issue on my part and how fucking deadly mechanoids are
like okay they should be dangerous but good god, i hate how every single turret and any mechanoid with a decent firearm (needle gun, charge lance, beam graser/repeater, etc.) just slaughters anyone
yeah mechanoids are truly terrifying in ce
and it becomes really, really fucking annoying when the game throws two mech clusters at you and then a third off map one
but it's important to remember that they're incredibly weak to fire

that's the one thing i didnt try
i kept using EMP and sabot
CE even (or at least it used to) tells you this with a message just before mechanoids are able to spawn
I've seen that message before but didn't see it this time for some reason
it's what makes it possible for tribals to even touch them
technology really does not like overheating :v
but yeah stickbombs for tribal have incredibly low range but are incredibly powerful, loading up a bunch of those on one pawn and sending them into basically anything will mean neither that pawn or the other thing will exist :v
because the first stickbomb will cook the rest
molotovs makes em cry real hard due to the sticky nature of it
mechanoids are basically why flame weapons have that debuff that keeps setting people on fire for a bit after getting hit by em

satchels also don't really have the penetration iirc, back when I played I really liked having bunkers with manned anti tank cannons

manned weapons are incredibly powerful in ce
allows you to punch way above your weight
even just manned medieval weapons are real good
I forget which mod it was from but there was a medieval big crossbow thing that could pen some of the mechanoids, and just absolutely rip apart an entire line of squishies

speaking of mods is there a mod that makes you place somewhere for traders to muster
that's another reason why the howitzers etc are real good, toss an ap shell in that and it'll not stop until it hits the ground or a wall as long as what you're fighting is industrial

Centipedes are basically hard coded to be extremely vulnerable to Prometheum in CE yes
If you coat them in prometheum fire I’m fairly sure the burn tick damage prioritized their brain first
They die in extremely rapid order
Only issue is fire weapons kinda suck otherwise
having a mod that lets you manually detonate IED's is incredibly nice
It's a weird but real change
Because in vanilla they do not give a fucking shit about fire
I still use missiles and things but I generally play with mechanoids off or severely reduced, I hate them

Also another thing I thought of, don't discount just leaving small stacks of chemfuel out at the entrance to your base

Only real issue is your pawns getting tired over the long fighting but it’s nothing that a mind numb serum can’t fix
the landing proboscis idea kind of backfired on us too, the hive is big enough to go up right against the edge of the map

Which is a bit of a problem as I have a non-combat highmate researcher/priest, an old man who is both a relationship and bonded to the highmate and this yttakin who can barely even stab
They're really nice if you can design your base in a way to nullify long range weapons
them being psychically dull also means drones affect em less
also, what kind of biomes do ny'all go for, when you don't go for just, like, temperate forest
we're thinking about scouting out to see where our next colony should be, but we don't want to exactly throw ourselves in the deep end and get surprised when things go to hell
we're maybe thinking about doing a glacial sheet base for our last or second-to-last colony, but still
it'd probably be fun to do that for our anomaly ending, tbh

they're great combat pets cause unless they straight up die they'll probably regenerate in a few hours
This also makes them a great defensive vanguard because they get downed while taking a good bit of the enemy with them, and then by the time the enemy has gotten further in they're back up and cutting them down from behind
I do really wish the dlc's would get on deeper sales cause I have been missing it a bit
I do gravship plahthroughs these days so I just move around a lot
Biomes I tend to stick around long term in the ship though are the new plains biome
For the farming to restock up on luxury goods

there was a mod that made pitchblende have syndromes back in the day (but i'm not sure that's how that works irl LOL)
I feel like with the with how modding is going we're like a year or two at most away from someone making this a reality
most of the modding stuff is to do with making the procedrual stuff accessible to players
something i've wanted to do is make the human entity even more random with procedural language and stuff
i think i got as far as taking someone else's random language code and replacing their sounds with toki pona sounds
i wanted it to generate three languages based on toki pona, esperanto, and ithkuil every time you started a new game and somehow make human civilizations use one of these each and go from there but...
...it turns out i don't remember jack shit about Lua from making roblox games when i was like seventeen

some of the hardcoded procedural content [e.g. the systems used to generate demons, "angelic" languages in vanilla, some of the stuff surrounding necromancers] in Dwarf Fortress was moved to Lua to facilitate modification and probably some under the hood stuff i dunno
my language brain is fried
but hopefully that makes more sense to read
most of the stuff you can touch without working on something like dfhack is actually pretty plain text so its very accessible overall but you have to get creative with custom reactions to make the game play really differently which is something e.g. squamous has achieved
dwarf fortress is one of those things i'll write too much about while excited if i ever post a huge block of t ext it's probably about dwarf fortress or some strategy game i'm hyping up because i'm the first person to play it in 20 years

It's possible, but I think it depends on your neighboring world tiles and whether or not they are Impassible mountains or not. Even if so, they might be even less likely since you've re-blocked it off.
I would entirely block up the cave with wall. Like, every space up to the border, then at least if it happens you have time

My colonists are dying because for some reason they prioritise refueling the oven rather than the passive cooler during a massive heatwave of 50°c
I had to cramp several beds into a small living unit because thats the only one where temperature stays at 30°c
there's a 15 year old with these perks + great memory + quick sleeper should i pick him up

I have been fucking with the empire and then they sent a raid
I did immediately lose three colonists but we won, kinda. I killed some mechs, four empire soldiers and 3 got away
Empire in CE does not fuck around
(I lost one colonist to a triple rocket, then two to a charge sniper rifle)
I kept getting raided three times in a short time before my colonists were even healed.

I used like, 20 mortar shells, an anti-grain EMP charge launcher, 10+ disposable rockets, 3+ triples, a doomsday rocket
two dozen charge weapons backed by uranium slug rifles, autocannons, and anti-material rifles
and it was STILL hell
amazingly I might not lose anyone to this, but I have about uhhh 10 casualties?
I think a LOT of these injuries are Large and Small Fragments from so many mortars and rockets with shrapnel flying everywhere
This is why I enjoy the storage mods lol, the ones that give you crates and piles

I highly recommend stockpiling vegetables like rice outside of coolers. They usually last long enough to effectively never spoil, unless you harvest like an absurd amount

i'd say compost it but i think the only mod with compost is the hygiene mod and the hygiene mod only lets you compost dookie
there's a mod that let's you terraform tiles, and it gives you a composter that you can make fertiliser out of, to make rich fields.
its actually something I run with always because I know one would want to live with the map, but if I'm living there long term.

90% of colonists off site, I get a raid

Managed to pick a couple of the west group off, turrets on my north wall slowed down the other group
Then I get tied up in melee around the gate trying to slow the west group, leading to having to emergency doomsday my own gate and blowing up one of my own pawns
North group is dueling it out in the courtyard against loopholes guarded by two kids with charge rifles and an 86 year old pawn with frail/double cataracts/etc
One of those fights that would have been flat unwinnable in vanilla but was just about doable with CE
