Nope
Damn
Maybe I should go something else and get Esper via a sphere then
So my custom weapon can be martial
if you're using the full techno sphere rules, that's unnecessary
double check the character creation rule changes on 134 of the techno fantasy atlas, everyone gets access to martial weapons
Oh I missed that
got my physical copy of Natural Fantasy >:D
Chat, is there any support for a sorta, one weapon melee one weapon ranged character?
Like sword and pistol
twf is normally only limited to two weapons of the same category, but the Ambidexterity heroic (which was buffed in the 1.1 update) lets you do that
it lets you combo both Bone Crusher + Warning Shot, or make use of both Crossfire and Counterattack at the same time
the Gunbreaker heroic in the patreon update lets you make a melee+ranged attack combo that sets up a status on the first attack and then deal extra damage with the second attack, which could be quite good with Cheap Shot from Rogue
but I suspect it's not better than Ambidextrous twf- gunbreaker is more oriented for transforming weapons
Double counters are doable even without ambi
So there's a good niche for it
oooh, true
Double counters?
Crossfire+Counterattack
Ohhh
Hawkeye to Guard and fire your pistol, grant yourself resistance to use protect to throw yourself into the way of melee attacks to Counterattack...
currently in a boss fight in fabult
we have collectively decided to not attack, we have just been spamming hinder and trying to calm the boss down
the opponent has no dice left, we are just spamming status effects now

Let me show you how the cycle of life work

#FabulaUltima
the boss fight my group had last session was sick
each of the enemies had a teamwork passive that was collectively thrashing our entire asses
-all the enemy attacks/spells autohit
-all enemy attacks/spells ignored resistances
-whenever they saw one of use an attack or spell, they copied the attack or spell using the same roll
-telegraphed 'weather attacks' that hit all of us at the end of the round
(we are level 45, we deserved it)
we ended up solving it by realizing the Vanish heroic let our rogue avoid setting off the counterattack, and spent a bunch of turns on giving them free attacks
the shambler
Blam-bler
I think my fabult group may be lacking a bit of healing rn, not sure how to go about that as a frontliner lmao
We have a dancer/invoker focusing on status and elemental damage, a pilot/tinkerer/ranger who counters ranged attacks and throws potions, an herbalist/guardian (our main source of healing, but quite delayed), a darkblade/mutant with dual shields who only wants to stay in crisis and self heal, and myself as a mutant/fury/rogue acting as beeg damage with unarmed attacks and polypoda
But we've had several 2hp close calls in the last fight alone (still only lv7)
Unicorn Dance gives a bit of chip heal, which could be nice?
invoker can do...a bit of healing, I guess
but honestly at your level Potions are pretty substantial
yeah potions do get us back to full health, but the GM is pretty stingy on the zenit
rn we're just coasting on the fact I had a bunch leftover from character creation so I am the party's bank lmao
I guess my character is very much a foodie, so maybe going into Gourmet later might help?
you could pick up soul steal for IP for potions?
yeah that was an option too
I am honestly not sure where to go after mutant, fury is there rn mostly for the crits and rogue for high speed and dodge, with mutant as the main class I am investing in at the start
but yeah soul steal should help a lot
plus I guess I can steal from elites too to provide money for the tinkerer
I mean, we appropriated a ship last session from some pirates
the GM had pirates try to attack us while on the way back from an island on a mission, we were on a loaned ship, and he did apparently not expect us to start hitching the former pirate ship back to port as our own after that fight.
Guess he didn't think we'd be environmentally conscious enough to want to keep litter off the sea, definitely for that reason and none other
still no clue what we're gonna do with it, sell it, fix it up, maybe the party's tinkerer can start a project to make it into a skyship later
oooh, definitely some interesting stuff in there
ran half of press start again
man, press start is so good as a demo
tho IIRC this is the first time i ran it online, and alchemy doesn't do gradual mechanical unlocking (would be a lot to ask i'd assume)
which means i get to say "fukkit, you're all TTRPG vets who play enough variety, full combat mechanics unlocked in hexwing magitech soldier fight"
our cassandra player ended the combat by spending a fab point to establish that the soldiers have a command phrase to disengage combat and have cassandra utter it
Q: is player/NPC health/health percentage open info in combat?
Entering crisis is public info
so additional percentages aren't really a problem
imo
i'm assuming this is a VTT thing, i wouldn't really do this in IRL play
but because it's a VTT thing it's not something the book comments on
yeah fair
actually part of the question is should players share how much health they have left to their players
yeah player health should all be public
nodnod
trip report
edgar's player couldn't make it to session 2
cass actually got convinced to turn on the rest of the party
followed 3-player suggestion to half tristian's health and make him take only one turn per round
balanced the combat even further by having desdemonda focus on completing the ritual
one unfortunate roll brought lavine's hp to 0
player said fukkit, time to sacrifice, took out tristian
des stopped completing ritual, cass turned again
two rounds later des got defeated
also blaire fired a lux at the compass, i decided to give it a 1/3 chance to open a rift to the soul world, luckily it didn't happen
all in all: ppl had fun
Ooh that sounds fun indeed
Chat, how would y’all do a boss who’s doing like, Whesker shit?
Moving around so fast it’s practically teleportation
Give him 10 turns before the players /s
Lol
DEX as the main stat, maybe an effect similar to the Acceleration spell where they can do an additional action. But limited to X times per round and for only a small number of actions like attack or spell.
You want to be super careful with that if you do it for action economy reasons.
Probably a reaction where they can force a non-crit to miss like once per round.
amusingly i can imagine a scenario of "they got superspeed but haven't mastered it" and if they toggle the mode on, they get extra actions but suffers slow and weak
or i guess it'd be odd if they actually suffer those effects, just downgrade their MIG and DEX dice during that mode?
Could also do a narrative thing where they dodge all attacks but mechanically they are taking damage as they begin to wear themselves out by keeping it up over a protracted battle
there's a lot of rogue skills/heroics that try to capture that kind of feeling you could steal from. giving them a High Speed style free action and then elite/champion extra actions, maybe a counterattack mechanic, would probably work
another way to look at it is: what stunts does Whesker pull with his Whesker shit that you'd want to capture?
Including brainwashing a woman?
well you do that in GM scenes (within reason and within allowance of safety mechanics, of course)
A little apropos of nothing, but this convo reminds me of the last big boss battle our GM did, where the big bad let US have a free turn before he acted
If we took him up on the offer, the land ship across from us would fire rockets at the land ship we were defending, doing damage to the party and starting ongoing fire damage to that ship.
If we didn’t, he would take out his light-infused pistol and absolutely nuke my poor undead bard with a single shot 😭
Give him something that counterattacks when he is missed. Every other turn, he is immune to ranged attacks. Intervening turns, he is immune to melee attacks.
High Dex, bonus Defense, immunity to Slowed and Enraged.
Thank y’all! Sorry for not responding
I forget, does the xypho quirk give a custom weapon or a normal one?
Custom
Thanks
engimatic relic quirk allows me to make a weapon with 200 words of text amazing
The custom weapon has the following characteristics:
-
`firearm/ heavy' Transforming
-
martial weapon
-
two-handedweapon and cannot benefit from theMonkey GripHeroic Skill; always occupy both hand slots -
meele/ranged` weapon. Transforming
-
cost
300+100+200+50+500=1150 zTransforming/Rare -
Accuracy Check=【DEX + Dex】Rare -
deals
physical/darkdamage equal to【HR + 14/18】Elemental/Powerful/Rare/Quality
Customizations:
-
Accurate Adds a +2 bonus to the weapon’s Accuracy Check formula.

Transforming (increases the custom weapon’s cost by 100 zenit) While you have one of the two forms equipped, you can equip the other form whenever you want; during a conflict scene, you can only do so during your turn,
before or afteran action, andonly onceper turn. atransformingweapon can only have one Quality (the Quality applies to both forms).
Rare weapon options:
-
+4damage. If you do, +200 z. -
Modify

Dual Hunter
+5damage toMonsters/Demons, +500 z (Offensive Quality)
not withstanding the actual quirk mechanic
also my character creation is spent making this damn weapon
So, I liked a lot of things about Fabula Ultima. One that keeps rattling around in my skull that I find really fascinating is that it is very villain-centric in its design, something that feels like a real oddity in RPGs which, upon consideration, seems like it *shouldn't* be odd.
