but eg from my blood lords game, there's a module that adds these buttons below damage rolls so you can apply damage as needed(it doesnt have anything to differentiate between attacks and saves; the half/double buttons would only be used on save based damage effects iirc)
i think the same module also has a way to just apply damage automatically instead of having you click, we just don't do that in my game in case anybody gets a little too excited about rolling damage, so we can be like 'hey that should/n't have hit because xyz' or for any reactions etc
target helper is a function of pf2e toolbelt
I believe the apply damage buttons are base system
yeah i was just verifying that
was between toolbelt and workbench for which module it came from
Indeed!
My GM is allowing me to play luminary for a high level pf one shot
"Hi Valeros." "Hi Rakim Myers"
trying to get some details for pathfinder organised play and of course THE SITE IS UNUSABLE!!!!! PAIZO!!!!!
small question
how do archetypes work?
i saw the drake rider archetype
and did not see it
You take them as an alternative to a class feat
Usually they have a restriction stating that once you select a Dedication, which is the feat you take to enter an archtype, you must take at least two followup feats from that archtype before you can get a new dedication
The ones which don't follow that rule will generally say so, for example Familiar Master and Familiar Sage are interchangeable.
How much CHA investment would people say is required for Demoralize to be valid on a martial? Taking the +1 from Intimidating Prowess into account.
yeah if you're demoralizing lower level targets for terrified retreat, high proficiency and maybe a couple points of charisma should generally be enough
In this case it's exactly how many points in it I need is what I'm trying to figure out
I'd go for +1 or +2 at level 1 tbh
+2 isn't necessary at 1, but it's nice to have +3 or +4 by late levels
Admittedly it's mostly bc the character is STR-KAS and is already as good as one can get at athletics
So I need other skills to be half decent at
what class?
Fighter
you could also take decent wisdom
Generally +1 Cha will be okay enough IME
have at least trained in religion/medicine/survival for access to battle medicine, a common recall knowledge skill, and a practical skill
Your off stats start catching up with boosts anyway
this is also something I considered just bc I like having good perception just as a general rule but none of the options seemed that appealing
The campaign will use stamina rules so Medicine looks a lot less appealling
yeah
my oracle is at +1 str, +4 dex, +1 con, +2 int, +3 wis, +5 cha at level 12
the str is mostly for a little bit better damage with unarmed attacks
it does actually make a bit of difference between 2d8+2d6 and 2d8+1+1d6
and it means I don't have completely awful athletics
still "only" +15
but it's nice to be good at climbing and swimming for a campaign that's currently doing wilderness exploration
right now I'm also at expert diplomacy, master medicine/society/survival
actually no
expert survival
forgot how many skill increases I have at this level
and additional lore warfare just in case
it's an incredibly strange build but it's mostly just kind of developed over the campaign instead of being a build
martial artist is because I was making unarmed attacks anyway
and 2d8 with property runes is a hell of a lot better than 1d4
tiger stance is also just really good on casters because 10ft step can get you out of reach weapon threat
Nope, now it's more important, because in combat healing is way worse
I don't think I really follow there, out of combat you can recover stamina without medicine and recovering whatever portion of health you might've lost isn't all that difficult
I feel like the more appealing aspect of Medicine investment is Battle Medicine which suffers the same drawback
You will be ending fights at much lower hp in stamina rules
being able to basically always heal to full between combats is still good
Fighter has amazing Perception anyway, so you're probably fine in that regard
because in combat healing will rarely heal the full amount.
they have decent perception, but more wisdom is still good to have
our rogue hasn't invested in wisdom and doesn't have that great perception
similarly, wisdom casters have very good perception even with slow progression
They have the fastest progression and an innate circ bonus, it doesn't really get better than that
they have the fastest progression until they don't get legendary
and the circumstance is for initiative
It's not quite as good as Rogue and some others, but Fighters still have extremely good Perception prof
yeah it's good, I'm just saying wisdom is good to have
Yes, not contesting that
because a +4 wis cleric with trained will have as good perception as a +0 wis fighter with master
Yeah but you're probably not gonna stay at +0
You're probably minimum gonna be +1 by level 5
Right, but you only lose health to begin with once you lose the stamina buffer, even if the in-combat healing is worse. My experience with the system is that you rarely get dropped too low in most encounters that aren't near to the end of the adventuring day anyways.
Not to say it never happens, but I would say it's uncommon.
The Stamina rules are kinda weird, and mostly just make healing much worse IME
yeah, it's just sometimes good to start past +0 in the first place
I think for str fighter I'd go 4/0/2/1/1/1 or 4/0/2/0/2/1 and save up for full plate as soon as possible
can shuffle the 0, 2, and 1 however you want in the mental stats
are you going for one-hand + free hand, two-hand, dual wielding, or shield?
The weapon is a jaws strike so my hands are effectively just whatever works, probably shield + free hand
Intimidating Prowess will help
yeah intimidating prowess helps, but adding it to existing charisma means you get a really good modifier
Since it gives you a boost to Intimidate for having good Strength
Skills also outpace DCs as level rises, assuming you keep up investment in prof and skill items
they outpace the level-based DC table, I don't know if they outpace saves
Considering your skill mods will be much higher than spellcasting, I'd say yes
fair
I'll need to look at the math at some point
and just assume that the primary combat skills are athletics and intimidation
Skill items being a thing is already a pretty significant boost there
which mainly just determines when the skill item modifiers will come in
for athletics I'll probably factor in lifting belt+armbands or weapon runes
weapon runes as the specialized mod, skill items as the primary mod
Potency runes are reasonable to assume most of the time on Trip and similar I think
Though I am trying to avoid heavy armor, the GM is trying to experiment with a lot more punishing terrain (balance, leaping, etc) so I don't really want to eat the speed penalty if I can help it. My plan was to just stick on medium the entire time and take just enough dex to have optimal AC.
ah
then yeah put one mental into dex and take breastplate
Optimal dex for medium is just +1 yeah
and 1 each in wisdom and charisma
Though then you have the issue of your Reflex saves being worse
wisdom is also nice for will saves, fear effects are common but not the most punishing will saves
I'd say keep boosting dex as you level up
and take reflexive shield
but yeah heavy armor does definitely have the tradeoff of speed
5 ft speed penalty is generally worth it IMO
fighter doesn't have the worst reflex, but you still want to be boosting dex because you can't rely on bulwark
it's terrain dependent
For +1 AC and Bulwark
I know guardian just doesn't ever have to care about dex because lmao mighty bulwark
Well difficult terrain is fortunately pretty easy to eliminate as a factor now
oh yeah I did some analysis and iirc
latest level for expert will is 5, latest for expert fortitude is 9, and latest for expert reflex is 13
reflex is also generally the worst save on PCs
it's the most likely to stay at expert
wait why? I know rangers don't care about it
There's a fighter feat that gives +2 to reflex saves when you have a shield raised, but yeah that'll be an issue
Okay its a bit more higher level than I remembered, so I can't be quite as dismissive as I was
But this exists at level 14
This magical banner lightens your feet and allows you to move adroitly. This banner is sometimes referred to as the marching flag. You and your allies ignore difficult terrain within the banner’s aura.
it does take up a hand or need to be affixed to a polearm/spear iirc
But also also, you can just jump around if there's difficult terrain
you can, but that's still much slower than walking over non-difficult terrain and takes feat investment to make it work better
Any weapon or shield
oh
neat
Quick Jump and maybe Assurance gets you to reliable jumps pretty fast IME
actually yeah
then you mix in powerful leap
and your consistent distance is 15+proficiency
up to a maximum of speed
which comes online by 6 if you're at 25 speed
yeah
though more athletics feats can make that better
quick climb, combat climber
spend your general feats on those and fleet
it's so good my martial artist oracle has 35 speed
5 from fleet, 5 from boots
plus 10ft step and wings
And Trick Magic Item for your Wand of Tailwind
iirc my ancestry feats have been
natural ambition for reach spell
scion of many planes for grimspawn (because that gives me diehard)
wings
then at 13 I'm taking the teleport and at 17 I'm taking permanent wings
the only oracle feats I have are reach spell and greater revelation
The party will have a Commander who's intending on taking the climb speed tactic so that'll help things along
nice
The GM has asked we avoid flight or teleportation to uhhh, actually interact with the setpieces, which is fair enough
fair
I'm doing it because it's part of my character concept
using innate daemonic powers without actually turning to evil
But also it's mostly going to be like 2-12 from what I understand so a lot of the consistent flight speeds won't even come online till towards the end anyways, with a few exceptions
and I specifically talked with my GM about having part of my character's arc be eventually healing his wings (since they broke, then healed wrong faster than he could get proper treatment)
so right now he can use them once per day
which is a reason to take the feats at level 9 and 17 rather than just having flight from the start
Still split on ancestry choice, atm it's between Goblin or Lizardfolk
lizardfolk!
I want a d8 unarmed attack and the list of those available outside of a stance isn't very long
actually bakuwa heritage gives you integrated breastplate basically
which saves some starting money
though sandstrider is good too for fire resistance
cliffscale gives better climbing
cloudleaper opens up some interesting escape routes and movement tactics that would normally take cat fall and acrobatics investment
I was looking at Frilled if I go that route, intimidating glare is nice and my goal is crit fishing so having the ability to apply frightened 2 on regular success seems solid
ooh that is really good
Then for Goblin it would just be Razortooth + Fang Sharpener
heheeh i don't know half the word spoken here
anyway what are your guys throughts on kholos and dragonets aswell as dhampires
i noticed
Kholo are good, just wish they had some more feats
haven't looked at Dragonets yet
and Dhampir are cool, but also I don't like negative healing unless the whole party has it
enemies with voiddamage give you healing
they don't give you healing, they just don't damage you
you are still only healed by dedicated negative healing effects
the reason I don't like it is that it complicates healing for the party, because they now need to make exceptions for you with everything
can't get targeted by the Heal font Cleric, can't use healing potions, or most other healing effects
it introduces a lot of extra overhead, so I find it a hassle unless the whole party is negative healing
hmmm good point
there are some ways around it, like dipping Oracle
and a few ancestry/heritage feats I believe, but a lot of those come pretty late
It does depend on where the healing in your party is coming from, to an extent.
what do you lot think of changelings?
it's less of a pain if you mainly heal through Medicine yes
but that's still an extra feat tax on your Medicine person
If the primary source is Soothe anyways, it's less of a bother, which describes a fair bit of the parties I've seen.
the only primary heal that really works for negative healing is Soothe
but Soothe is also not that great
It's not but it works, my experience has been that one Bard with Soothe is generally sufficient. It's not amazing but I don't think heal font is mandatory or anything either.
it's definitely not mandatory
my point is mostly that negative healing in a party with regular healing otherwise, introduces extra friction
it's not unworkable, but it does make things more complicated
and I'm just personally not a fan of it
Garden of Healing from animist, amusingly!
Oh right, that one isn't positive for some reason
so which races do you lot like
vanilla ice be like
i was making jojo joke
since vanilla ice is a vampire
well was
considering he's dust now
Tengu was fun, I like all of the various plant guys but haven't actually played one yet, halflings are my elfgame staple
i see
I have no strong feelings ancestry wise
A lot of the core ancestries are very good though
Human and Elf particularly
I think about doing an Elf with Adopted Ancestry Dwarf sometimes
Elf speed with Unburdened Iron
Consider- the chosen one
Half dwarf half elf custom heritage
You can just do half ancestry heritage for anything now
Which would also be an option
Just not quite sure if it's better than having a different heritage
I'm doing this for a Gish(?) Cloistered cleric with a centaur raised by dwarves
Currently it's looking like my character will end up both master in Warfare Lore and -1 Int
Which is a very funny combination of traits to think about how to portray
Fighter
I get it to Trained via background and to Expert via a Dedication feat I'm taking for unrelated reasons
I have a wood/water kinet
In my upcoming game
I wanna give him a rival
And im thinking of having it be a metal/fire kinet
oh I have a buddy who plays a wood/water kinet
I suspect strongly that it is the most common kineticist build!
It sort of does everything
bro's a pice of drift wood
the werecrocodiles are cool
But where are they?!
https://2e.aonprd.com/Deities.aspx?ID=282 Is Erastil's major boon about the level of a lvl 11 item?
Unlike many other good deities, Erastil does not send his followers out into the world to fight and crush evil. Eschewing crusades and other ventures that take his followers away from their homes, Erastil watches over those who devote their lives to family and community. He is primarily an agricultural deity, specifically focusing on those aspec...
Maybe a bit higher but not in a way I would expect to impact game balance at all.
are there any pf2e items, like potions or scrolls, that I can purchase that would allow my character to stay on guard all night with no negative effect the following morning?
first thing I can think of is a ring of sustenance reducing sleep requirements to 2 hours
so you'd have two party members each with one

Is there any lore out there for the zodiac ogre?
I'm going to go into starlit sentinel
And that sign would be thematically appropriate for my hungerseed 😄
there's a bit in one of the Tian Xia books...let me get my copy and see
from Tian Xia Character Guide: Tian Shen was tasked to travel through Shenmen from one end of the land to the Sea of Ghosts without walking on the earth or flying. Luckily, during his journey, he witnessed a fierce battle between a jorogumo, transformed into a giant spider, and a brutal ogre. After the bloodied ogre won and then subsequently fled, Tian Shen pulled a single strand of silk from the giant spider and used it to walk across the nation with mythical balance.
