Let me see if I can find the initial design ideas, there were a few different options for it...
( @stoic basin do you have the original yss sketches readily to hand, by chance? )
yep!
oh these all rock
So got a player actually looking into that thing. Any tips to pass on?
into the yi-sun-shin? hmm
well, our best advice is to be strategic with when you make someone intangible, since you only get to pop that off 1/scene/character
getting up to and bullying someone who's being a pain can get your allies extra time to get out of dodge, though that also basically locks them onto you too
you can actually do this by grappling provided the target's smaller than you, since you technically immobilize them while you're holding onto them
remember that you're gonna get dunked on by witches and that you're gonna need to put some investment in engineering to make sure that the combat drill doesn't immediately make you melt down, too
do you know what licenses they're planning to take after vlad, or have already?
Sorry for the late reply but Vlad Sherman and from the looks of it they might be doing Caliban
Correction. He's going into Toku and Sherman as well
torch is always good, reactor stabilizer will be your friend, and you can't go wrong with rsu or dwhs
radical stuff!

how has your lore been progressing? been a while since I peeked in here
Just dropping a note that a player of mine brought this to my attention because they were interested in gear from your supplement 💖
Gonna be in a game piloting the Yi-Sun Shin MK2, probably gonna explode bc I have no idea how I'm building this thing
I'm not sure how well this will go at ll2, the speed and heat caps scare me a lil
I have a question regarding invert ontology. Does it work with white witch's pinning spire the way I think it does.
Oh the point would be taking them to the pain dimension where they can't hurt friends
Since Intangible characters can't hurt non intangibles usually right?
They would be “in range” but wouldn’t be able to hit you cause of intangible
At least I would think
I'd still be in danger doing this
In general, Pinning Spire would end if you or your target became Intangible, though that trait likely overrides that.
Oh yeah that should work
yeah generally speaking if something allows interaction regardless of tangibility (my brain almost spelled "tangerine" for some reason) i think the usual intent/ruling is that it overrides tangibility
(if this makes no sense then yeah my brain is fried)
does inflicting heat/tech attacks count as “doing damage” for the purpose of this core bonus?
Heat is not damage.
that’s hilarious, thank you
i will now make a flying minotaur
excellent 😌
i mean technically the zephyros is right there, but still, this is funnier
ah! well, now we have to
Here's my idea.

There's something a bit perverse about putting Ilean stuff on a HA frame, though. :P
JCH3 deserves to get F*cked
oh lmao don't even worry about that, that's already canon
Designed to fill a perceived hole in the Ilean forces’ armory, the HALFSTACK was developed primarily by Adamant Arms to be a recoilless rifle platform for firing self-guiding rocket munitions, and performed well in its role. While a welcome sight to many Ilean pilots (and several HA pilots, given its appearance in their ranks), the weapon is abhorred by maintenance techs for its obscene upkeep requirements to the point where pilots are asked never to use the HALFSTACK unless absolutely tactically necessary.
tbh, it's just good to see that it works! we did really hope that hyperlightweight got used for this kind of defender shuffling chicanery, so you making this proves that we were on to something 😌

hmm. Admittedly we feel like we could do more here, but it's not a bad build we think
this is beautiful 🤩
Thank you!
The sixth license was kinda tricky since Barb3 doesn't have anything for this build really, but there's not a ton else that directly contributes
we were also eyeing Swallowtail 1 but the low Sensors made us decide not to
well they shouldn't have brought mechs to a tank fight then
I made one ages ago, but I suppose IMI is due for another one xD

this is just a tbk tritton
seccomm used these before they figured out the worldkiller
,,,, genuinely, this seems like a really, really solid build. it's a little weak in speed (we'd maybe swap to 2/4/0/2), but it's definitely not impossible to deal with, either, and it's hardly like the plasma thrower is lacking in range to make up for that difference
(that, and maybe swap mount retrofitting for autostab on that plasma thrower)
you dare insult the chitter-chatter?
😛
I actually have a homebrew world and culture that idolizes tanks because they're the ultimate symbol of unity, a handful of people operating as one
They don't eschew mechs, they aren't stupid, but mech pilots are seen as antisocial weirdos who feel dysmorphic without a giant body of steel.
I am trying to figure out how they feel about the Triton.
Actually, they'd fucking hate it. The bonds between tankers are considered stronger than family, because in a tank, even a momentary disagreement can lead to death.
And a tank that is outfitted like a mech, and can be operated by a single person like a mech, would be a dire insult.
They'd especially hate that HA was making it. SecComm lashed out at them during its collapse, like they did other worlds incompatible with anthrochauvanism, and they were one of the few people to beat back SecComm's newfangled mechs with tanks alone. This would be considered a mockery of the tank's perfect form.

Yeah, but... ordnance.
the railgun's already ordnance right

Backreading a bit but @polar rampart 's in stars and melody 's Ironleaf Foundry has a tank, The Laurel
We love lancer tanks
That was surprising to be noted about but hey, glad someone likes it. XD
My friend group loves the tank
They keep bringing it up
It was invented like 50% because I know that a Size 3 Flier isn't an option for Every Scenario and an alt-frame that's easier to put in other places makes an unweildy base frame less of a hard sell.
Hold on moving this further to

I can't see what you do with a Red Admiral.
The main thing I can think of is Centimane to double dip Lock On attacks with an Aux nexus?
Wait, its Tech Attack is +2?
yep
what you do with a Red Admiral is basically what you do with a lot of frames that have high sensors high tech attack and also flight
and also the ability to Hide in the open
generally speaking you be a pain in the ass
and a nice like, bonus for your friends
Also, what I want to do with the Cambion is mix homebrew. The Efreet from Suldan has the invade system Entanglement Leash, and one of its options says the target is always within reach of your melee attacks.
So you use the Spell Lash, inflict Interpolate, then you can use Integrated Weapon, Hunter 3, Duelist 3, etc. to keep beating the shit out of the guy even if he's across the map.
Not fully on itch yet, if i remember right, head over to #1233277997742690314 , drafts can be found there pinned
If I had a nickel for every Goblin alt with armor and an integrated melee weapon that could make tech attacks against Evasion, I'd have two nickels, which is nice, because hey, two nickels.
(The other is Vex's Imp, which is also cool and does all these things differently.)
-# n-no of course not... what do you mean haha no I didn't think of a metal gear not at all that's crazy talk

Dare I say.

It works pretty much exactly like my fucked up Mourning Cloak, except not a hacker.
Skirmish, Lunge, Dive, stab, blam for 4d6+2 damage.
And you get soft cover from everything when you're standing on an enemy.
is the cambion a balanced frame?
The fact that the spell lash can double the +2 bonus in one action plus action combression is kinda nuts
plus as a melee it ignores cover
when spell-whip says it automatically applies a quick tech does that mean any invades applied skip the attack?
I'm not sure what is meant by "double the +2 bonus", personally
otherwise, yes - you're basically using the weapon as the attack component
So hitting with spell-lash increases sesors by 2.
So then I guess it depends on how the automatically applys works when the quick tech option chosen is the tech attack
where does it say that?
i might have an old file
But i thought I just updated all mine
the main document
not the comp//con?
no
that seems like an important thing to have there lol but I'm glad to know now. Where is the main document?
in pins
there's a few small balance and wording changes like this we've made that haven't made it into the lcp-- tbh, we haven't updated it in a long while and we're gonna have to go over it with a pretty fine comb to make sure we get everything when we eventually do
oh yeah, by the way, does the Ostria take fall damage from peregrine dive?
i’d imagine you only take fall damage if you fail the save, but would like to make sure
it only does if it fails the save, yea
that’s great to hear, thanks
and then crash gear lets you mess it up 2/scene, basically
posting some in-progress lore, things are probably gonna change between now and whenever we get things properly and finally put together, but like,,,, it's something, we guess?
Ilea is, "geographically" speaking, an incredibly isolated system. Located in the middle of the Atalantan Gap--a vast area of space, distal from and trailing Cradle, and much higher above the galactic plane than it--Ilea sits alone as the only habitable world out of a single-digit number of rocky planets orbiting the handful of stars in the area. Only sharing its system with one other planet, a gas giant in a long, elliptical orbit, it is the absolute picture of desolation; its surface is coated in sands rich with toxic heavy metals where it is not ripped apart by tectonic forces. Its magnetosphere is both a blessing and a curse, with it being strong enough to keep away the solar winds that would strip it of its thick atmosphere and cosmic rays that would push it from simple toxicity and into full, dangerous radioactivity, but also interfering with even the hardiest of electronics. Its water cycle is not completed with rain, lakes, or rivers, but with the condensation and evaporation of water to and from its ocean and the hardy plants that survive on its surface. As close as it is to its dim red dwarf star, Ilea is a cold planet, freezing and thawing with the dusk and dawn.
But, for its scattered, varied peoples, with whatever squabbles, differences, and disputes they have, it is home.```
2252u: Ilea, one of countless habitable planets noted in trade data from the Voladors, is automatically selected by the rapidly expanding Union Administration Department for human settlement. The automated colony ship "9NIZ6Q2P2J-1-2252-12-25", dubbed by a shipwright whose name has tragically been lost to time as the "Annebelle", is launched later that year from a shipyard in Cradle's asteroid belt, where it would then spend the next months burning out of the system to bolt towards Ilea proper in 2253u.
????: An unknown amount of time later, the Annebelle makes an emergency bolt from nearlight as cascading errors wrack the ship; electrical, manufacturing, cloning, and control systems are all effected, with as much as 75% of all data lost across all systems, including (but not limited to) key memories to be preloaded into future colonists, guidebooks and records for and of colonization efforts, and genomic sequences for the humans, plants, and animals to be cloned on arrival. The emergency bolt itself, an incredibly violent maneuver in the modern era, also critically damages several of the Annabelle's key structures, compounding issues.
Only after several years of automated repairs, both structural and technological, is the Annabelle once again able to bolt towards Ilea at a meager .2c, the highest its systems agree it can achieve without violently ripping itself apart. The rest of the Annebelle's trip is spent with all systems running on minimum power, when active at all, in an attempt to limp to Ilea however it can.
3619u: The Annebelle bolts for the last time, having egregiously overshot its target during one of its systems' extended sleep cycles. With another nearlight bolt deemed impossible, its only option is to burn towards Ilea at sublight speeds for the next several hundred years.
4004u (retroactively, 0i): The Annabelle finally, after nearly two millennia of travel, makes orbit around Ilea and lands near the edge of one of its many mountain ranges. Despite damage, it manages to successfully begin the process of growing human colonists, animal livestock, and crop seeds, the latter two of which it would release onto Ilea in waves while it starts to break down its own structures to begin manufacture of simple shelters.
[SIDEBAR] To calculate the current Ilean year based off of a Union year, use the equation `i = ((u-4004)*365.26)/28.591`, where u is the Union year in question. [SIDEBAR]```
It is only with great effort that these first colonists survived as long as they did, with those that could rebuilding shelters, hunting and gathering food, and helping to educate their fellow colonists where the Annebelle's systems had failed. They were, by and large, decanted at an adolescent age, only 15; a majority of these first colonists would not survive to 40, whether due to health complications from birth defects, solar radiation, metal poisoning, or simple disease.
4014u-4020u/129i-206i: The first Ileans begin settling the area around the Annebelle, and creatively dub their new village "Annestown" (which will later, after its destruction, instead become known as Anston). They slowly, with some help from the Annebelle, began to establish proper infrastructure. Invented during this time is the single most useful piece of technology known to Ilea, without which any long-term attempt at human settlement would be impossible: the condensing water harvester. With ready access to clean water, the people of Annestown finally had a chance to flourish.```

Wait
There isn't a full on CAS imi frame, the Sumatra is just a fighter/air superiority frame
Where's my big rotary Auto cannon with wings
foehn with a levican
genuinely, that's why it's one of the only imi mechs with a heavy mount-- it's about the only one that's big enough to reasonably use it
i guess you could do something like that with the squamish and coromuel, too, but neither of them are really in the same role that the foehn is
Coromuel can theoretically fit a Levican without core bonuses, but there's negative synergy there.
i mean, for CAS there’s the Cierzo
a part of me wants to see a flying mech that has an integrated heavy/superheavy nexus+cannon gun
Nono I don't believe y'all understand
The point of a CAS aircraft like the A-10 is to make a gun run, circle around, and come back to do another
It is inherently a skirmishing artillery that takes on an AREA
Not a singular target necessarily
Can someone help me understand the advantages of the GMS Sierra
The concept interests me but I'm not sure what role it fills
Drone based controller?
It seems like it would also be able to mount a super heavy which seems odd
Maybe a bunch of subalterns are literally carrying a CPR around in the field
Also, don't squads get resistance to non-aoe damage?
Being able to eject from your squad or have it meltdown also seems strange
The squad is subalterns, and you're in there in a powered suit directing them.
NPC squads get that kind of thing too
That's neat
What are the benefits and drawbacks of being a squad?
I see it has immunity to knockback and ram and also counts as size 1/2 for peeking over cover
I'm a new player so I'm not sure what the full implications of this are
its a tarpit - use your massive size to cover a lot of ground, saboteur drones to create debilitating terrain or break into areas, and by being immune to knockback contest objectives. duck and cover in combination with brace give you immense durability, so abuse frequently
you are there to waste the enemies time and otherwise have the tools to get exactly where you need to be in order to do just that (seeing you're a liquid, and can easily flood through a 1x1 gap so long as theres enough free space)
That's pretty cool
I'm trying to think of how I would most effectively waste enemy time
Mines and drones and stuff?
heavy gunner is also a good hook
size 4 means you have a massive threat radius, so leaning into overwatch stuff works too
Was the Sierra's name an intentional riff on the GMC Sierra?
it was not! it was meant to be in reference to the sierra madre mountain range
Which makes sense, and what the GMC Sierra was referring to as well.
Ever since I learned about the GMS Sierra I haven't been able to get the image of pikmin out of my head
Is it possible for me to dogpile enemies with a swarm of size 1/2 drones and beat them to death
Imagine a group of little dudes just climbing onto a mech, the mech topples over, and the little guys are shanking it to death on the way down
You can see the void in those eyes
There's nothing behind them
the sierra's sabo crews used to be able to jockey hostile mechs, actually
Was it too powerful in practice
it was mostly just kind of awkward, actually-- everything you could do with jockey were effectively just the options you already had available, but with a billion and one saves thrown in on top of it
it slowed things down a lot
tbh, we're a little tempted to add it back as an option when you have your core active up, but we feel that might make people think it's a lot better than it actually is
Yeah it seems challenging to implement it mechanically
MY SPOUSE THAT I HAVE LITERALLY CALLED IT THE PIKMIN MECH
🤝🤝🤝
coming back to this, tho, the best way to do this is probably with tss2-- you can't easily be shaken off if you grapple since you're immune to kb and ram, so you can just keep squeezing every one of your turns for free damage
,,,,,, is it bad that we immediately thought of calling a zheng/sierra build a fight club
You probably mean Synthetic Muscle Netting.
no, we mean tss2. smn would be good to be able drag the people you're grappling around, but if you want "climb on top of someone and beat them to death", we'd say that tss2 is a better fit for that flavor profile
Why not both
Both is good
I wonder if I could rope an upcoming GM in letting me play with the GMS Sierra.
Playing a squad of dudes in tactical sounds absolutely hilarious.
My friend said this is Sierra Pilots 😭
this is literally incredible, thank you so much
Double checking my understanding of the Sierra's saboteur crew. Does the crew share the same "pool" of actions that the mech does? Or does the crew have its own separate two quick actions that it could take in addition to the mech's usual suite of available actions?
no, the sierra must use its actions to command the sabo crews to do things, but they do get one free quick action per round each with the core power
Thinking about the Foehn being a nice statstick.
Also, what kind of action is Shock Drop Bays?
And does the Foehn take it, or its ally?
I believe it follows the normal rules for mounting and dismounting so the ally takes the QA
Oh, question about the LCP. With the release of Dustgrave and its integration into Comp/Con, is it possible to give the Tritton two Main, one Heavy, and one Superheavy mount?
If you are talking about the Core Bonus, no, You can only put superheavy Mounting on frames that have 2 or less mounts
If your mech has fewer than 3 mounts (excluding integrated mounts) it gains an additional superheavy mount. It can only take SUPERHEAVY WEAPONS. They still require an additional mount to be installed. If your mech also has a heavy mount the SUPERHEAVY WEAPON must use that mount as the additional mount.
imi is specifically not balanced with any dustgrave content in mind, due to our own personal issues with dustgrave's content and balancing thereof
to be more specific, it's because of the sheavy cb. it's just. Not good game design and we hate that it got the stamp of Official Content on it
out of curiousity, is there an extended rant somewhere I can read up on?
I'm not saying that. I'm saying that giving it a Superheavy Mount as well as a Heavy Mount in Comp/Con would be a better implementation of the feature that lets it mount a Superheavy without a bracing mount.
Because there's already code that says when you have both mounts, you have to use a Heavy for bracing it.
The only thing that would change is the implementation in the LCP.
ah, sorry, we're kind of out of it right now
we'd,,,, definitely be interested in seeing if we can make that work, but we're a little worried if it'll still let you undermount
and there's also the fact that you can choose to still use a bracing mount, too
Yeah, I just realized it'd prevent you from using a normal bracing mount.
Oh wait grapple prevents reactions
Doesn't seem great on the Sierra then
Losing out on duck and cover is a hefty penalty
Maybe this is too much of a meme build
I've seen the name before when I looked at the mech stats, but I'm reminded the reaction is called "Duck and Cover", and I'm thinking about the Sierra subalterns carrying 1950s school desks.
Flash printing school desks
The Foehn is my favorite, except I don't know what I'd use it for.
It's generically good.
It can fly, it can carry a dude, and it can do one other thing which I can't remember. It also has the catapult core power.
And the one thing I dislike about it is that it's not a single use efficient core.

It's just a bunch of little punches clearly
I imagined it like that one vine where 3 dudes are walking up to another dude who is way taller, so the two of the other ones lift up their third, do a twirl and slap the tall dude in the face (I had searched this vine for half an hour, I couldn't find it)
Hm, the build I posted relies on the duck and cover reaction to survive pulling enemies directly onto it and holding them there, but that makes it easy for enemies to grapple it, which disables the reaction
Armor lock plating requires 2ll and requires me to brace which messes with action economy and also prevents reactions
Maybe I should still get it though
Maybe metafold carver and nanobot whip are redundant for the purposes of grabbing people
My talents enjoy having a threat 3 heavy melee though
Ll1 of SSC white witch seems to offer very good stuff
So uh forgive me, but how do you fire this as a reaction when it has no threat?
In a Main/Aux or Aux/Aux mount? Bonded/Exemplar/Gunslinger/Tactician? Monitor Module/SCYLLA?
Also, every weapon has 1 threat.
Could a Sierra legally teleport the target of their Ophidian Trek onto a tile they already occupy, given that one of the Sierra's traits allows them to overlap characters and objects?
Your target is teleported 1d6+1 spaces directly toward you, or as close as possible. If this effect would move them to a space occupied by a character, object, or piece of terrain, the teleport fails.
The answer seems to be no because it only checks whether a space is occupied or not, not if an occupied space can fit multiple characters
It's a true/false statement, in other words
Yeah, but it would just put them adjacent to the Sierra.
It's like a larger character using it on an Atlas.

I heard that a lot of them are too cumbersome
But at least I can move at all

Well it's big, for one.
Size 4 Annihilation Nexus is insane
It also doesn't run out of drones.

So, have recently downloaded the LCP for this, and so far, I'm definitely liking the look of what IMI has to offer. Particularly the Foehn and Cierzo, which both look like they'd be good for a gunship/flying fortress type of build.
thank you! it's definitely always nice to hear that people are liking imi 😌
Also just cannot stop chuckling to myself how IMI introduces a literal Main Battle Tank as a Barbarossa Alt Frame.
Also like the Red Admiral Alt Frame for the Swallowtail. Reject Mech, become Predator Drone XD
Of course, I'm also imagining the Tritton doing a Ram and Grapple combo as the tank knocking an enemy mech to the ground by bulldozing it on the front hull and then just... parking atop the hapless Mech.

Ah yeah you think this is a decent disruption howitzer build or nah
oh, definitely! you'd have to watch your heat if you're planning on using ace 2 often, but it looks like you have nucav to help exploit that even if you do start heating up. we're maybe a little wary of taking siege stabilizers or heavy gunner on it, just given that siege stabilizers instantly destroys your mobility and heavy gunner tends not to play well with loading weapons, but if you're planning on reloading with external ammo feed you can probably make it work without much trouble
Okay I need to actually ask a weird question
But does Siege Stabilizers work with Launch! Launch! Launch!
hmm. i think it might?
yea, it specifically doesn't work with talents or core bonuses, but that does mean that systems work with it-- we know that someone made a core siphon foehn build because of that before

there are! sorry, we have, kind of, a bunch of random notes everywhere that we've never consolidated into proper lore (outside of what's written in the doc, at least)
Wait there's a doc?
there is this, but we want to expand on it way, way more before we add it to the doc
As much a product of their planet as they are of the Annebelle, the average Ilean (such as it were) has changed far from what one might consider a "baseline" human-- most notably is their height, with most Ileans standing between about 6'9 and 7'3, though some (doomed to the particularly cruel fate of never finding a clothier that caters to them) can reach as tall as 8'. Skin colors run through the full range of possibilities, although Ileans tend to be universally tanned, regardless, simply due to how much solar radiation their body has to handle-- even those with the luxury of working indoors are still bombarded with gamma rays or similar, which Ileans have had to adapt melanin analogues to withstand.
Ileans often have somewhat elfin features-- their height, plus the genetic drift helped happily along by their sun has lead them to often have somewhat elongated faces and larger eyes, and naturally pointed ears are uncommon, but not unheard of. Their eyes tend to be either brown, blue, or grey, or a mix of all three, and their hair usually runs a range between blacks, browns, and dark auburns.
ILEAN CULTURE
Religiosity and Spiritualism
While Ilea lacks any major religions (outside of, arguably, the Church of Sun and Stone), the average Ilean has, by and large, a propensity for spiritualism and superstition. Some beliefs are tightly held, not allowing for give against others, but most are a nebulous web of minor beliefs that weave into each other as their holder sees fit, changing with time and experience. Typically, a family will have a patron deity or deities, rites, and minor rituals that are passed down, though it's not uncommon to see similar things pop up around places, groups, or phenomenon; this is especially notable in the Ilean military, whose units typically have a deity they give honors to for protection and success (with some especially zealous units taking up the title of paladins, such as the "23rd Division Paladin-Infantry"). ```

also wanted to say that the art you guys have goes hard
credit goes to @nova badger for the sierra! she's honestly such a great artist 😌
as for advice, what kind of build are you looking for? it's (hopefully) open to being a pretty decent multirole frame, although obv it has some preference towards drone systems given its core power
yeah, it's a super neat alt frame! hes been wanting to do a utility build and play around the saboteur crews' setup and trapping
and youre so right, i didnt even register that theyre considered drones
Sierra is on my list of "canon" GMS mechs in my GMS lineup in my lancer lore 😌
-# they're the largest and most prolific, well known mech manufacturer, of course they have a full line up
And the Sierra has a PERFECT spot on said line up
🥹
honestly it's so good to know that people like the little lads 😌
they're just little guys!
Plus Ilean's history/lore is key in my setting
Especially cause the fight and aid being given to the planet/syste. currently in my alt history of the lancer vers due to the additional tech gained from my settings additional metavault
I think we've chatted about that a little tho, hehe
I should release a lore doc for that at some point 🤔
probably! and you totally should, we'd love to read through it some time 😌
right, but: unfortunately (at least ioho), the sierra kind of gets pigeonholed into picking a lot of hydra stuff-- they work really, really well together, and it's fairly straightforward. it license is chock full of control tools and utility for drones, and the annihilation nexus is,,, a little wild on a size 4 frame. there's also the gilgamesh, which is better for more generalist utility builds, as well as having the ability to deploy more squads of little dudes what with the legion nexus, but it lags a bit when it comes to utilizing them
hrm, that does all make sense - thanks for the thoughts, its always useful to hear what the writer had in mind
aside from the sierra, did Ilea have any contact w/ SECCOM? asking since im going to be running a oneshot that takes place at the end of SECCOM
and it's also the one where ive that player who's eyeing the sierra
we recognize some of those fellows!
(well most of them but three in particular)
😌😌 i have the other non-GMS ones noted somewhere else, but ye, good stuff, they're fun 💚
Oh the Uncompaghre and Ouray made the list too? Nice!
Also what's the Low Budget catalogue?

that's how we've always thought of it!
that, or each subaltern just has a Very Large gun, and each of those adds up (mechanically) to a levican's output
,,,,, that said. we're still considering the idea of a sierra with subaltern horses to haul around a siege cannon, kind of like so
oh lmao, actually, agi-focused sierra build that's a bunch of subaltern cavalrymen on subaltern horses 😌

the build, for those curious! Chitter-Chatter SMGs with Gunslinger 3 allows for a shockingly brutal punish to getting Peregrine Dive'd, with a Thermal Charge loaded Charged Blade to punch through armored opponents and a CQC equipped DSAS to mulch unarmored ones. Combined Arms 2 means there's never any reason not to be in your opponents' face, Vanguard 1 cancels out all the innacurates, while Ace 1 and Technophile 3 are insurance to make sure Peregrine Dive goes off successfully.
I love this
seeing what @stoic basin did with one chitter-chatter during our Wallflower campaign, I dread to think what would happen with three lmao
It's a very strong weapon, if you can handle its' accuracy issues. Vanguard and Combined Arms deal with that in CQC, and then the Ostria also just really, really likes having its' foes prone, so it can be pretty safely assumed this thing'll be shooting at +1 accuracy with every weapon it has assuming nothing goes wrong.
Swapping evasive maneuvering mods for integrated weaponry and fitting another one onto the mech is something I toyed with-- It'd allow me to stack IKWMH faster, even if I'm only using Skirmish.
One thing I didn't explain is the Type-1 Flight System; It's a 3 SP expenditure to make sure that if I need to be in the air longer than the frame trait provides, I can exchange Heat for air-time. It probably can be swapped out for something else, but the action economy for the Ostria doesn't really like boosting to fly and then diving-- your opponent'll be back on their feet by the time you get to fire again! Type-1 gives an actionless answer to that problem, as well as giving wiggle-room for getting and staying in the air in situations where you might not be able to Boost in general.
Hi gang! Big fan of the LCP, i've been scratching my head over a Sierra build and was wondering if i could get some clarification on intended design?
Specifically im looking at the Squad trait and trying to wrap my head around whether i should be considering the mech a size 4 or a size 1/2 for certain mechanics
Given that the trait specifically calls out grappling and ramming being when you should treat the mech as size 1/2, am i right in intuiting that every other size consideration should have it as size 4?
Like for, say, Engagement?
Would an NPC mech be forced to stop when rocking up next to me and the squad
Im also curious how things like adjacency, threat, and Burst is treated when hostile characters are in spaces occupied by the sierra
Would a burst 1 attack hit characters standing on top of the Sierra?
respectively for each post
yes, yes, yes, yes
it doesn't specify otherwise so you would treat it as Size 4 for everything other than Grapple and Ram
Your own spaces are like, "Range 0" which is in range for every range, including bursts
NYYYYOOOOOooooooommm
does that mean they're also height 4 for stuff like cover?
no, they should only count as size 1/2 tall
and yea, galius is right on, although we're probably going to also change it to count as size 1/2 for systems too, just so you can't cheese things like mule harness
also, before we forget: given all the feedback we've received, there's a couple of nerfs we need to make: namely, the tritton is losing -2 hp and -1 hc, and the cambion's spell lash is losing seeking
Yeah with 14 bulk I can see why you'd want to bring it down to 12. And 6 heat cap is respectable.
Like, 14 bulk is.. Drake levels, isn't it?
That i think is a problem with the squad NPC Trait too, which gives me a very amusing image of squad soldiers stacking up on each other to aim over an apartment block
Especially when they can just breach and clear the apartment and all fire from the windows.
Quick little bug report, but the tooltip on the Zephyros's Hull readout says the Sumatra instead of the Zephyros
Oh god i kinda want to roll with that though that sounds hilarious
Thank you for all your answers! I'm quite confident in my plans now. Im playing in my first No Room For A Wallflower campaign as a Sniper lancer's bondmate/spotter and i've been musing over how well the Squad trait lets you maintain adjacency for Bonded and Spotter without interfering with the Sniper's ability to reposition and letting you still get good Lock On range
i'm pretty sure it specifies they count as a squad of size 1/2 characters
Yes, but the ambiguity comes from the total size being 4, which according to normal size rules also applies to your mech's height, and the fact that the Squad trait only mentions being counted as 1/2 for Ram and Grapple actions
fair
The Squad trait could probably be updated to include 'cover height' alongside ram and grapple in the text

also, for a rewording of the squad trait, would this work?
The Sierra is made up of a squad of combat subalterns, Size 1/2 in height, and counts as such for systems, Grappling, and Ramming. . . .```
I think that works, aye
actually - I might suggest one adjustment instead:
The Sierra is made up of a squad of combat subalterns, counting as Size 1/2 for line of sight, using cover, systems, Grapple and Ram.
Looks good to me! Means we get to use atlas 1 to zipline all our subaltern buddies across the map lol
that's perfect! mind if we steal that?
of course, steal away
it's true,,,,,
You guys don't call it "E-ME"?
I just pronounce it as "Eye-Emm-Eye"

How possible is that? i know we've talked about it some, but how proable are the descents/people of ilea being able to relocate or begin to slowly rebuild somewhere else/ get to escape from the grip of harrison armory?
alright, i think we've got the cambion's new core power figured out! we're gonna add this (and the other changes we've been working on) to the new lcp, which we're gonna start working on,,,, soon? maybe not today, but hopefully during this work week DAMN FULL TECH, 1 CP Choose a hostile character within line of sight and Sensors. They immediately take 1 Stress, rolling one more die on the overheating check, and must make any resulting Engineering Checks as Saves against your Save Target. Characters with only 1 Stress (or characters without a listed Stress, with 1 Structure and 7 HP or less) instead suffer an irreversible meltdown. Characters that suffer a reactor meltdown additionally become Immobilized until the end of their next turn.
next to impossible, unfortunately-- it's not totally impossible, but you're talking about an entire planetary evacuation of,,,,,, actually we've never thought about how big ilea's population is
we will say that ilea has a fighting chance to break free of harrison's grip (that's what,,,, well, what we're planning the campaign that we haven't ever actually started working on is going to be about-- either with the party being union doj/hr, crack ilean pilots, or harrison deserters), but a full-scale evacuation of the ilean peoples would be tricky, not just logistically, but also bc ilea is waaaaaaaay tf out in the middle of nowhere
that's why harrison is so interested in it in the first place. they want ilea as a resupply/refueling stop for their ships as they pass through that empty, barren stretch of space to the other side
i obviously can't speak for exact numbers or distances or whatever, but in terms of logistics: at the bare minimum, a worldly evacuation entails putting millions of people on sufficiently large starships for a multi-year (possibly decades) trip, and thats without factoring in A: finding a place to evacuate to and B: bringing/sending all the stuff necessary to resettle to begin with, which is still a staggering feat
you can't really just "pick up and go" when we're talking about the populations of entire planets. its a big reason why the crisis on Bo is such a huge one - their planet is good as dead, and yet there are five billion people still on it. they at least, being part of the Concern, have entrenched stellar infrastructure (including shipyards that have been running for unironic thousands of years) and sympathetics willing to offer those people a home; by comparison, I don't think Ilea has anything comparable, especially when it comes to ships
Okay then lemme ask on the flip side
How likely is it to get squadrons, fleets, entire groups of skilled lancers and groups there to assist against harrison to turn the tide
Don't get me wrong it would be HARD but
I couldn't say seeing I don't know the exact conditions of say, Ilea and their relation with the Union diaspora as a whole - i imagine squadrons and fleets are out of the question, both for logistic (middle of nowhere, would take forever to muster and arrive) reasons but also moralistic ones (Union especially would not intercede at gunpoint, and KTB getting involved would turn it into a nightmare scenario)
I imagine Ilea's support, if it came in any form, would probably be more covert and smaller scale, kinda similar to how Free Sanjak played out (and continues to play out, ultimately) - absolutely room for Lancers and agents and the like, but no overt military action. as pointed by sylv system above; DOH/HR, Legionnaire deserters, crack Ilean pilots. small teams making do.
hell, depending on things, I could see the UIB showing up as scary as that is
Albatross is also a potential
the doj/hr team would get there by hitching a ride on a volador ship, as part of the uib Calling In A Favor given their interests are aligned
we haven't actually considered this before, it might be fun to play with that some
exactly
it's one thing if, like, your planet is no longer hospitable and everyone needs to leave, it's another when you're being aggressed and people start planning on leaving, especially if everyone doesn't exactly want to
Ok tbf Ilea is... Barely hospitable
Considering how botched the initial colonization effort was
most of those issues were on the part of the annabelle being as damaged as it was
is it a hard place to live? yes. is it a minor miracle that the first colonists survived past the first few generations? yes. but it's still a hospitable planet with lots of natural resources for anyone who can stand to get them
I actually read a story about a planetary evacuation. The moon was falling. And even though the people helping them were literally wizards, it was still hard.
Fair enough tbh

Tbh HA in general doesn't sound like it treats planets it annexes very well either
At least when things get violent (they always do)
which, is why they're fighting HA
they really don't tbh, but Ilea's case (if I recall) is an especially violent one seeing nukes are involved so that genie is pretty much out the bottle
HA ironically ends up treating the worlds in the Purview pretty damn well for an expansionist, imperialist power; the problems instead stem from the many strings that are often attached to such an agreement ... and, what happens if you don't agree.
Ilea, in essence, is having a situation much like the one that sparked on New Madrassa - not in terms of exact circumstances, but in how the Armory is operating. Largely, what this means is using ongoing violence for the justification of further Armory presence - it is, on documents, a "peacekeeping" effort. But the dramatic escalation of violence has basically led to all pretense of this falling about; On Ilea, its a full blown war. On New Madrassa, they sent Battlegroups as alliances are tried and the entire sector destabilizes.
(also if I remember stuff from old sylv system notes the whole thing was basically an internal fuck up on HA's part where the diplomatic teams could of got somewhere if some commander didn't decide to stroke their ego and deploy a "honorguard" as a display. but thats just from my memory and might be changed at this point)
oof
Are there patch notes?
My group is arguing over the new Cambion core power lol
spell lash lost seeking, cambion got a new core power (which tbh we aren't 100% sure about but we definitely think it's better than the last one), tritton lost 2 hp and 1 hc, foehn lost 2 hp and gained 1 repcap, and other miscellaneous stuff from the doc we just got around to updating
Interesting
yea thats what i imagine too
cambion is a personal fav mech of mine but i dunno if this fits
oh shit im so late on this
hi :D sorry to bother y'all
it's k!
tbh, we'd been on the fence about the former core power for,,,, a long while? it felt like it was better to just make a clean break and start with something new, instead of trying to fiddle with it more
we do wanna hear your thoughts on this, tho
ok SO a few ideas
1: all heat dealt by tech actions becomes burn, i just find this one amusing
2: spell lash is fired twice, or maybe becomes a Blast area that invades everyone in the area
3: Immediately change your Sensor range to 15. For the rest of the scene, when you hit a character with a tech attack, you may deal Burn equal to the side of your Infernal Influence die. After using this ability, reduce the size of the die by 1. A character can only take burn from this effect 1/round.
thoughts on this version tho...
I feel like unless you have other heatgunners, this is either Power Word Kill + you explode (which I love) or you just structure someone once in a special secret way most people cant affect (since hostiles usually dont take self heat)
I do love the instant immobilized reactor meltdown tho, especially on a goblin with puppet systems that shit funny
i think its neat but very situational
I got to keep an eye out for additional lore documents for ilea, I would love to write/run like a few short games to run out the preventation of harrison long enough to get some bigger players in there

our brain feels like we've put it in one of those hydraulic presses, but we've been thinking more about spirituality on ilea a lot recently and wanted to get whatever we could about it down
While Ilea lacks any major religion, the average Ilean has, by and large, a propensity for animist spirituality and superstition; though an Ilean might only worship a few gods, they often recognize any number of others in their walk of life. There might be a god for any number of things: a library might have a patron god of knowledge, a factory's workers guided and watched over by its god of careful and calculated work, a network server hosting a video game might fall victim to its god becoming distracted by it and crash.
A traditional Ilean household is built around a set of married partners and their household god, who is typically drawn up from, a product of, or a literal child of those partners' original household gods, who then looks over that partnership and their household and children.
Religious self-mutilation (not including scarification, which is often treated similarly to tattooing) is uncommon on Ilea, though it remains a common practice among Annabellean cultists in Anstonite populations. Among the Annabellean cults that practice it, it is often partaken upon one's confirmation into the cult, with the part of their body (typically a finger, eye, ear, or one's nose) cast off being both an offering to the Annabelle and homage to the first Ileans who were borne by her.
While atheists on Ilea do not face religious persecution per se, they are often met with confusion and casual exclusion by their peers; atheists are often depicted in media as being shifty, untrustworthy, recalcitrant, or antisocial, though actual atheists on Ilea are often just as any other person, if understandably cagier about their lack of religiosity for fear of being stereotyped.```

so if i hit someone with the Spell Lash the sensors goes to 7 and i chose to apply an invade does it still need to do a tech attack? and if it hits does the sensor goes to 9?
Hello! A player's suggested allowing IMI for the next game (they're specifically interested in the Ostria) and it all looks pretty balanced to me at a first glance, but I just wanted to check if anyone else has noticed any weird or potentially problematic interactions with newer official content or other popular homebrew to look out for. For reference, we're currently using all published content, Enhanced Combat, and Suldan.
one issue i could ppotentially see off the top of my head is Defensive Reconstruction on a Hecatoncheires
jussst a general heads up that mixing homebrew is generally ill-advised
it doesn't need to do a tech attack, since it did a melee attack instead; its sensors only go up to 7
tbh, we haven't had a chance to look at any possible interactions between imi and sotw stuff yet, and we're pretty sure it works fine with suldan, but full honesty: imi is not and will not be balanced with any of ralf ziegler's work in mind, regardless of if it's first- or third-party
yeah i generally only allow licenses from a single homebrew per player, but there is interplay between different players to keep in mind, and sometimes i like to give out exotics or reserves from across different sources
so Spell lash applies the 2 heat and one invade options if it chooses to invade?
yep!
I apologize if this is the wrong place to say this but I really really REALLY like this homebrew. I havent looked through many homebrew expansions for Lancer but of the ones I have seen it is by far my favorite and I love it very much. Thank you 🩷
I think IMI might have my favourite art of any third party release tbh
Guys is it just more or is the Google doc for modern industrial broken? Really wanted to download it.

Yup that works! Thank you so much sylvania, I really appreciate it.

It just says it's initially centered on you. There's no clause to keep it following you. But I could be wrong.
I believe the rules state that a Burst follows you unless specified.
Right
is it intended that none of the Ostria's weapons have Threat? it's weird to see a shotgun and a weapon that wants to make reaction attacks only have range
yep, that's intentional

its intended location relative to enemies is directly on top of them
@stoic basin is this intended to be a Quick Action...? If so it doesn't appear to have that action type listed there
the action there is just listed as a quick action
it is a quick action, yes

So I never did a trip report of how piloting the Yi-Sun at ll2 went, I now realize. The answer: I felt kinda afraid to use the nailgun at all, and had trouble getting in range of mechs with the impact lance. (this was on the first tacmap for winter scar)
Most of what I ended up doing that game was firing the HMG over and over and hoping something would fall into my snares which didn't happen.
The only time I remember using the impact lance was when an enemy flyer unit flew in range of it to try and get me
(should also note I've only played like 3 sessions of lancer total lol)
The tools that come in the Vlad kit are built to either harass enemies or for you to directly push them into said tools by grappling
I didn't really know about grappling rules when I played this thing. But I felt excruciatingly slow in the mech at ll2
I couldn't get close enough to use its tools was the issue
Also uh
What were the enemies in that sitrep
Generally you don't want to target an Ace with a CQB frame
Also yeah you'd want to make at least some agility investment (I know that you generally shouldn't but this is a frame that wants it) and engineering investment
Reminder that it has 12 HP from the get-go and 5 repcap, so you can afford to take a few hits with it
Also I know you're at LL2 but consider the White Witch license gear once you hit the next LL if you don't want the charged stake (which is honestly pretty great) or combat drill (pretty risky on a frame with a base heat cap of 4))
(I know that you generally shouldn't
the advice is generally against agimaxxing not investing in agility at all
particularly on slow frames that already have a lot of HP, putting 2 points into Agility is going to significantly boost their maneuverability
this was the first tacmap for Operation Winter Scar
I spent most of the fight walking through a minefield + inching up with my hmg
that game was originally going to be a full campaign, but dissolved after the first mission due to scheduling nonsense happening. So I only have experience with that map + yi-sun mk2
I was constantly worried I'd get domed for 4 heat by one of the hacker npc mechs on the map
yi sun just doesn't have the heat cap (from what I looked at & had been informed exists regarding enemies cooking your mech) to use the nailgun or combat drill without obliterating yourself with 1 bad defensive roll
passing along a question from a player; is the CQC mod's bonus damage supposed to be on hit, or does it work on Reliable?
I don't think you can add bonus damage to reliable.
The only things that increase reliable damage specifically say they do so like the Legionnaire Rifle, or general damage increases like Exposed or the Emperor's Condemnation.
that would be my assumption, but bonus damage and reliable don't actually say that and the mod doesn't say 'on hit', thus the player's question.
I'd personally rule it as an on-hit effect since bonus damage isn't ever applied to reliable
I think(?)
all corebook bonus damage is templated as an 'on hit' effect of some sort, is why.
this is probably meant to be the case here but I do need to ask.
Does this core power's second half work the way I think it does with crack shot (or other self immobilizing things)?
I'm pretty sure it does, and that's part of the point.
It's hilarious with the Saladin shields.
the hard part: figuring out which 3 licenses to take to use with riffle
yes, if you're in a speed 6 frame with that core power and you're immobilized, you can still move up to 3 spaces
bc I have been workshopping a dusk wing that has a combo of Ace, crack shot, and skirmisher to be a right monster
This
This is why I love IMI
-# also the cambion, that thing's got a freaky vibe and I love it
coming back to this to say that you do count as slowed with this core power when immobilized-- we might change the wording to clear that up
going back to that example, you can still move up to 3 spaces, but cannot benefit from extra movement from skirmisher 2 or jk1 or the like
Yeah, a friend of mine cleared that up, as I was misremembering what slowed did
It does still mean you don't fall while shooting crack.
And that's honestly the main reason I wanted it. (However I was struggling to pick licenses)
Isn't there one that has an Aux rifle?
foehn i believe has the aux rifle
Yeah, pick up the Foehn.
The self heat on it feels like a gamble on dusk wing tho, alongside it's shorter range being an issue when trying to find a vantage point
(4 base heat cap scary)
Ehh, you've got 6 base speed. You can invest in Hull and Engineering.
yeah the aux on that thing is pretty good. also its got a hilarious corepower if you want to yeet someone
I was already investing in systems for tech attack + edef (2h/4s/2e)
There's not that many options for Aux rifles, though.
Does Ostria's Peregrine Dive work with Hunter 1's flying lunge?
Yeah, I mostly just like crack shotting with the veil rifle and causing Problems for the GM when I crit someone
hey! is there some way i could get in touch with you or the artist behind the Yi Sun Shin MK II?
(or both of yall!)
@fathom idol
Thank yoou
I have a question about the Cambion! Does the spell lash on hit "apply the effects of a Quick Tech without making a Tech Attack or Save" or is it "may automatically target them with a Quick Tech as a reaction" ?
ah, shit
the document is always the most current version of imi, so it should be the first
we miss things sometimes doing lcp updates, sorry
I'll be playing the Sierra later tonight, and I was looking into a Controller/Support playstyle, what is some funny stuff you can with that? I don't have the exact build on me right now, but at LL0 I started out with +2 in Eng, Drone Commander, Prospector and Field Analyst for talents, and Hex Charges, Perso., Turret Drones and Micromaintenance Suite (Crisis Core) for Systems
-# oh heads up IMI isn't designed to be compatible w/ dustgrave
Wait it wasn't?
yeah it's not designed to be dustgrave compatible
you can run them in the same campaign but it's like running things from two different pieces of homebrew
which we guess you're doing anyways but y'know
Something funny, some time ago I made an entire IPS-N license based on the Sierra, how I really liked the concept and how it played when I used it in a One-shot.
So I wish you the best of luck when you try it.
we are relativly lax with homebrew, apart from not being allowed to use two different homebrews at the same time (apart from GMS Crisis Core, which we can combine with anything). Prospector isn't really needed for my build, hence why I was looking for direction here, I just thought it was funny to place an entire crater on the map. I'll check with my DM if they would have an issue with that. Apart from that, since the Sierra already has innate Drones, does it work well with the whole Lock-On, Drone Commander, Centimane direction?
so just to follow up, you can choose to affect a target and treat it as if they failed their saving throw? for example, hurl into the duat: does it just, for free, force this to happen no save at all?
oh wait quick Tech Attack i see it now
we mean, you have to hit with Spell Lash
What's the naming convention for IMI? Wind?
yep, the names of different winds
Can you attack a different target with the Cierzo's flechette rifle or do you lose volley stacks before you fire?
oh, good question
right now it's currently just "on attack", which would probably mean instantly, before you fire
in that case I'm kind of questioning the use of the gun? Being able to switch targets might be too strong but other than the biggest of bosses I question what you would need to focus fire on three consecutive turns in a row and still need the damage for. against the vast majority of targets it seems to be either weaker than other heavies or it will be dead before it gets to fire.
I guess it might not be as bad as I thought, comparing it to the antimat rifle at one stack it's 2 extra damage + reliable and not loading/ordinance with is quite good but still you have to hit them with something else first so they're already softened.
still it seems pretty situational
What you do is attack + Heavy Gunner 2 the target. That gets you two stacks.
Hypothetically. I haven't played an Iridia frame.
Tactician 3 would work as well.
I don't see how you could? the only gun you could HG with is the flechette gun itself, but you would just be shooting with 1 stack for half damage.
Wait, do you lose stacks when you attack a different character with any weapon at all?
yes
it's you attack the same target with other weapons to get stacks, then use it consume the stacks to do big damage
Basically, you're spending the other quick to be able to get to 3d6+2 reliable 4 in one round rather than 2.
no, only if you attack a different target with the flechette gun
Okay.
i thought it was like the Sherman where the idea is to build stacks then burn them
Because it says "All volley counters are lost when you attack a different character." in the LCP.
ah, oops. we should have probably made that more obvious
I think the key that mislead me is the wording of fusillade, since it says "this doens't increase or reset the stacks" which gave me the impression that it consumes the stacks to fire and I missed that you get stacks only by hitting things with it
Oh wait, you only get stacks 1/round.
also yeah, it's only once a round. I guess you could use HG/flank for redundancy in case you miss, but flank seems less useful since in that case since your team is already focus firing the enemy it probably won't last long
My other question for the frame is about the hover platform. It says it's a piece of hard cover, but does that just mean it's an object or does it actually give you hard cover from those in front of you by standing on it, or is that only if you're hanging off the side somehow? And if it's destroyed do you immediately fall?
Ah, the constant confusion of Iridia and IMI, haha.
I haven't looked at Iridia yet, is it good?
I am heavily biased. 😛
oh I see you're the creator lol
on if they're directly below you, but it's intended to be something you stand next to or behind to for cover-- it's intended to be just a floating size 1 piece of terrain that you can use as cover or stand on (or grab onto the side of it, for something like a death's head with mag-clamps)
you should immediately fall if it's destroyed, the same way that you would immediately fall if the terrain you'd mag-clamped onto was destroyed
Oh I see. I was confused because it's called a hover "platform" it's intent was to be stood on so you don't need to fly, which I guess you could do but I had the shape wrong in my mind it's more meant to be floating Jerhico.
yep

There's a combo called "Technothumb". The Technophile 3 NHP lets it use your talents when it takes control. Black Thumb 2 lets you get out of your mech to clear its heat, 2 per turn.
I see. so you take your turn rodeoing to clear 2 heat, while the AI takes your turn for you?
Yep.
Anyway, Tactician 3 is here for another shot, and also because even half of AP reliable damage is still guaranteed damage.
Unicomp is there to clear heat and make a 3d6+2 shot at an unexpected enemy, while ASURA is ASURA.
it's an interesting build, but kind of the whole reason I wanted to build a Cierzo was to fly while using crack shot so I might go for something more standard for crack shot 3
There's another way to do Flying Crack Shot, and it's to take a flying frame (Sumatra, Foehn, Zephyros, Squamish, Dusk Wing, Taraxacum, or a frame with Type-3 Flight or ATMS) and give it Hyperlightweight Alloys.
That's true. I could do that, although my beloved dusk wing is a little lacking in weapon slots for a pure damage role, and using type 3 flight on a tagates or something seems like a rather heavy investment in SP and a core power.
It does seem like Cierzo is supposed to be built for this niche so I figured I'd try to do it before exploring alternatives
It is, but it's mainly built to use its built-in heavy.
Give a Foehn with Hyperlightweight Alloys a Legionnaire Battle Rifle, and profit.

What's the thought on Evasive maneuvering mods? Basically a permanent +1 difficulty to ranged attacks seems quite good, as well as removing anti-air. I don't know of any anti air that exists for it to counter but I assume there's something.
I guess it doesn't cover tech attacks but other than that it seems a little on the broken side unless I'm missing something?
it's meant to effectively give you soft cover while flying, since, unless you bring your own, it's difficult to find cover in the air
the engineer is the only npc that gains a bonus against flying characters, but we included it,,,, more or less just for shits and giggles
Question of clarification on the Sierra, it "counts as size 1/2 when ramming or grappling", does that mean it counts as such when it itself is initiating the grapple (or ram) or also when it's on the receiving end of one?
both
aye, thanks
If the Sierra takes House Guard 2, can size 3 allies use it for hard cover?
Given it acts as size 1/2 for calculating LOS and using cover, I imagine the intent is that it wouldnt provide cover as a size 4
but since allies can effectively stand within you no problems, you become a B I G zone of soft cover
it works kind of similarly to if you had hog on a regular size 1/2 frame, where you can only provide hard cover to size 1/2s but have a big bubble of soft cover around you
think of the sierra as just a really really wide size 1/2, basically
Bit of a shame. I was hoping for a human pyramid situation.
insert the SCP femur breaker scream as I stretch a Napoleon across a size 4 area
I mean........If projectile shaped why not projectile. Size 1/2 make for great rockets.
Anybody have any experience with the Yi-Sun-Shin Mk2? I'm about to be running one and was wondering if there was any advice anyone could give me.
Already done on the first front. Planning to spec more into Engineering soon, because I don't relish the idea of melting down every time I overcharge.
👀
that name looks familiar
-notes down Vinca's low heatcap just in case- eh eh hoo hoo hee hee
(I'm running the game Vinca is using this in, for context)
Is Tailwind meant to make "forced move to a location" effects slingshot the target past by moving them twice as far?
hmm
i don't think so? although that kind of edge case never really crossed our mind, tbth
was wondering if it was an intended synergy with the HGK-type stave but I can see how that would get silly
So I was poking around learning how to make .SVG files so I can remake my own manufacturer's logo properly, and I noticed that the Ilean logo appears to have its color hardcoded and it's letting comp/con draw the white outline above the logo instead of beneath it
Are these details known/cared about?
those were not known about, and they are cared about!
also i don't know if this can be fixed easily but the pokey corners jutting out bothers me lol
how was the Ilean logo made originally?
i think it was just some online svg editor? we'd have to go looking tbth
mind if I try making some edits to the logo? I can get the file off the github page
sure!
obv without messing with anything that's currently in use
hmm. I've un-hardcoded the color, removed a lot of the metadata that wasn't doing anything, and made the file easier to read. I temporarily edited a version of one of my own .lcps to compare the edited logo with the original. Comp/con can do whatever it wants with the color now, but it's still drawing the border above the logo despite me explicitly setting it to not do that...
btw I have found an issue with the wording of Red Admiral's core passive; strictly rules as written it doesn't work at all because it's a reaction that grants you a different reaction, which you then can't take because you can't take two reactions in a turn and you used the core passive reaction first
nobody's going to interpret it that way bc the intent is obvious, but removing the "as a reaction" part from the end of its effect would fix the RAW function of it
ah, ty
Sierra only takes 2 heat from Type-I Flight System, right? And can use MGMS zip lines?
Does it also lose all its movement when it enters engagement with literally anything?
yes, yes, and no, respectively
it counts as size 1/2 for the purposes of systems (such as type-1 flight and mgms), but has is size 4 for engagement and, well, size
The Sierra, to my understanding, is basically taking the Squad NPC and putting it in the Player's hands in the form of a Mech chassis of sorts.
I like the Tritton hits post
Really feels like it hits the artillery fantasy more closely than the Barb ever could
It's simple, no frills, gives pertinent bonuses (arcing on any weapon for free is so versatile, comes in so clutch) with an actually impactful core power
What does "resistance to effects" in the Yi-Sun-Shin's core power mean? How does that work?
if there is an effect that does damage, you have resistance to it
I see I see thank you
👍
And is that specifically damage or is that intended to include heat/burn?
raw it's only damage, but yea we could consider adding heat and burn to that too
idk if we will, we're pretty happy with how the yss2 is rn
All good. I've got a player running it rn and it came up. They're a very big fan of the mech (as am I)
good 😌
You need to merge the shapes
CC draws a border around each shape in the SVG, so if your symbol is a bunch of overlapping triangles it will border each individual triangle
yea ik, i did that and it worked
in all my attempts tho i couldn't fix all the issues at once :(
It do be like that 😔
I can't recall if this was ever asked before, but does the Sierra count as size 4 for the purposes of Prospector
Also, does directing the saboteur drones to boost/hide/perform a saboteur action cost you a quick action?
Yep
imi is not designed to be used with dustgrave
that's understandable
the #1139694225932439584 homebrew forum thread
oh it actually made a channel link
Hey, I’m struggling to figure out the idea behind how exactly one would build a Foehn. Any suggestions?

My table decided Foehn being able to deploy drones directly into its shock drop bays was fair game - if your table does the same you could do a sorta fun drone build where you deploy them in your bays and then punt them out into the field
The weapons in its license are a lil dissapointing imo but it more than makes up for that with like, everything else
@marble garnet
Drones are a clever idea, I like that
I don't have the specs for it but one of my players built his around being long range artillery support for a group of size 1/2 mechs and he was a menace because his opening move would be to launch the caliban into a group of enemies and then stay at distance and just shell things while the rest of the group moved in.
Launching the Caliban using a mech-integrated catapult is some definite "That is a weapon, not a teleporter" energy.
The other option would be to fling an Auric Range Blue Doctor at the problem and...........that was significantly more messy. And since they were town heroes slinging what equates to a biological nano war crime at people is not good for the public image lol
A question.
The SQUAMISH Appears without core passive or core active in comp/con V3
😩
Came here to ask the same thing, what is the core?
