Sometimes you get unlucky while someone gets it first try. Average out the shiny rate.
If everyone gets it before 1/500 then it’s not really 1/500 and some people will get it 1/200
It’s just generally 1/500
I’ve seen 1900 magikarp and no shiny. Only got them finally through the event a while back
