As we're affiliated with Riot Games, we have to be 13+ as the server is 13+. We also have 0 moderation teams on other Discord and cannot control anything over it. We only support #703343714730508309 as those are ones that follow the same guidelines.

This server is not related to the boards as per rules 100% and does not work the same way as the boards did. The moderation on the boards was different than here and allowed it. We have different rules from it.

It's not directly related but to say it's 100% unrelated feels somewhat disingenuous, given you just said you're affiliated with Riot Games and the boards were closed due to this Discord (I believe it's this one) and the Reddit existing.

If you feel it's unsafe even with an enforced template and disclaimer, then it's your rules I guess. Other places allow with light moderation on messages, perhaps you may change your minds in the future. Thanks for responding.

To my memory we didn't really allow the advertising of other platforms unless they were approved by Riot (i.e. Surr@20 is fine, but some random fanmade forum community is not). Near the end when we knew that the Boards were being removed, we were lax on this rule because we wanted our community to have the ability to know of places where they could still participate and enjoy the community they had built up for 10 years. Perhaps that is the time period you are remembering?

@vital totem Ok so im going to assume you mean slurs that are trying to be reclaimed by minorities more specifically the word for black people and lgbtqia+. We simply do not allow this because its a slur first and foremost and filters are mostly riot given, if we would allow users to use the alternative version of the first slur, we have 0 way to confirm they are black, therefore being harmful towards the black community, it's better to just not allow it.

Now for the LGBTQIA+ community slur. In no way can I ever see this slur being used as a non insult. If people who are apart of the lgbtqia+ community would like to reclaim the slur, go ahead but as it stands we just don't allow it in the server to provide a comforting place for lgbt members. And this goes for the same thing as the other slur, we cant confirm if users are apart of said community therefore the slur can become harmful for the community again.

As a member of multiple minorities I can completely understand wanting to reclaim a slur but for the safety and comfort of users here and to remove complexity we just can't allow it here.

Hear me out. Reduce the level it takes to stream within the server. The time it takes to hit level 50 is absolutely horrendous. On average I level up once, this is with talking in general semi-actively and talking in vc for multiple hours off of mute. This would make the perk 30+ days of pure activity and dedication for multiple hours a day. I think a reduction to level 35 or the ability to allow players to appeal for the perk would be beneficial to the server. I understand that you would not want randoms to stream horrible things in the server, but if someone proves that they are not a troll wouldn't it be fair to allow them to stream within a reasonable time frame? I think a reduction to the level required would be a supported decision from the community.

I don't know what a regional lfg channel is, but I do find that I can't exactly play with others on the discord, because it's for clash or they want someone with some kind of rank. Which i don't even know how to get ranked.

Regional lfg (or Looking For Group) would be region specific channels. There are multiple League of legend regions in league therefore multiple servers. Someone from NA (north America) can’t play with someone from either EU (Europe) server. This goes for all regions.
To get ranked: ranked queues unlock at level 30. Then you have to play 10 placement matches to before you become fully ranked. Just because you hit 30 though doesn’t mean you should rank. There’s a lot to learn in this game before one is ready for ranked. If you have more questions feel free to ping me in #⬫┆general-questions as the channel were in currently is for discord feedback

The champion emotes are going to be updated with better champion emotes. We're not planning on just deleting all of them and adding pepe emotes, this is a League server after all.
We want to add more expressive fun ones like:

The reason I pushed to remove them is 2-fold.

1. It is straight up unfeasible to upkeep it. Eventually, we'll get enough characters/champions that we will run out of emotes. Out of our 250 emote slots, it took up around 60%/65% of emote slots. We weren't able to add many emotes that weren't directly approved by Riot or fanmade etc, so this wasn't an issue. See that's where the whole I'm not a lawyer part comes in. I really don't want to tell anyone what is/isn't illegal because I am not someone qualified to determine so. My general understanding of sharing movies from IRL events:

You cannot legally show a movie to more than 25+ people IRL before distribution/viewing rights has to be bought by the publisher. This was also SPECIFICALLY for Disney movies, and for an old one at that, and I don't even know if that's true.

I don't think anyone will typically care if a video is streamed on Discord if no profit is being made etc, but it is probably best to not stream something you don't have the rights to just to be safe.

We hear you! We're being cautious about many large changes (emotes and possibly roles are probably the biggest changes planned), but for the most part we don't want to just radically change to a different server altogether. If I'm honest, I don't even think I've heard anyone be opposed to the emote changes until you brought it up earlier, but I know that people do want emotes like Yuumi/Sera/Yas around (they're common meme champions). I don't think anyone meant to come off in bad-faith or shut any feedback down, but it absolutely should be noted that feedback is open and not going to be restricted or ignored or swept away anytime soon, especially since I always check it myself regardless of if it was answered. 👌

I also wanted champion emotes back I wrote my argument above. And it was more like sure some champion emotes would be used like twice but how many times do people need the bee emotes, and half your emotes are locked behind nitro anyway. So essentially we get the bot emotes, like two memes and some bees. I just want the champ emotes so I can use them off server as well as on to plan games and talk about strats much easier. Makes more sense on a skill and tactics based games official server, I'd understand if it was a meme server or fan server. But this direction essentially is going the direction of Pepe emotes.

I would say it's most important to have a usable emote setup, as in emotes which you would feasibly use within conversation. As it stands right now (at least with the old set of emotes) the only one I've seen used extensively (and the only one I've personally been using) is "". Any other emotes I've only seen used incredibly infrequently, especially since many of them did not convey emotion, but rather just already short text in image form. You had the choice between opening the emote tab, searching for the emote and inserting it into your message all while reducing the ease of readability of your message, or you could simply type out the word and convey the exact same thing.

Adding to this, the champion emotes were also niche in their usability. Usually I've only seen these used in one of two contexts. Either to show a picture of a champion someone else isn't familiar with or someone using the emotes to list the champions they play in the LFG channels. They were however very rarely used within conversation. I just went through the search bar using a couple champion names and the rate at which the emote was used instead of the name being written out was so incredibly low, maybe one or two uses of the emote per 50-100 mentions by name (probably even less usage than that).

With 250 emote spots open I didn't think the champion icons did any real harm in being available, even if the uses were (in my mind) niche, however at the same time I did always find them to clutter the selection overall which makes the available emotes feel very "stiff" and not very inspired (which is what I would expect from a Riot-run server). Now that management of the server has shifted I can see why they had to go and I am fine with them missing from now on.

So just to clarify, we can only add a few each day. Right now we have added several former Riot stickers from the Boards and we're hoping to add more from in game and possibly other sources. No promises as the decision is not solely mine, but if the majority of people do not want these new emotes, at least I will push to reconsider. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This is an interesting idea. Players can currently ask for help if they are new in #⬫┆new-players and if they are seasoned by need help improving in #⬫┆gameplay-questions . We don't really have a dedicated place to find coaches. I can mention this to the team and we can see if there's a large interest for it.

The problem is that we were getting pretty close to the emote limit with just the roster. 154 champions, with the current rate of which they're releasing champions, we'd probably get to 200 by the end of this year. Ultimately, as we've said many times, it's not a feasible thing to continue to have an emote for every champion because in a few years, there's a good chance we won't have any emote slots left, even for new champions. That's not something we wanted to have to deal with in the future so we opted to instead switch tactics. I know that some of these are used a lot more than I ever personally saw the champion images usage.

I do sympathize with your feelings as I have been in your shoes where changes that I absolutely hated and did not understand were made. I will let the team know again the reasons you have given to support bringing back the champion icons.

We overwhelmely got feedback that people wanted other emotes than the champ icons and , and since they weren't frequently used in this server we thought people wouldn't mind it if we removed them. I don't think EUW and EUNE should be mixed. The regions have as much overlap as say NA and JP (as in none).

Going by opgg stats in terms of ranked population EUNE (951502 ranked players) is (surprisingly) even bigger than NA (880091 ranked players), while EUW is almost as big as both combined (1677558). (OCE only has 94543 recorded ranked players, so definitely the smallest one of the 4 by far).

I guess these stats are overruled by a majority of the server population being based in NA from the server being branded as such for the longest time/catering to those players most of all, however it still would not make sense if a proportional appearance of all non-NA regions is to be assumed in the discord.

Yes but if someone is harassing you, saying "fuck you" that is reportable, and moderators can deal with that. The filter system kind of functions of use.

For example:
"Ass" is not filtered even though it can be described in a way that is NSFW, you can say "That's a pain in the ass" or "Kassadin has damage out the ass" So for words such as this, we allow it to be said but if there is a case of obvious misuse (calling people asses, or using it in a weird NSFW way) we action on it.

The same case goes for "fuck"
You could say "Thats so fucking bad" or "That's so fucking broken" and that is fine, but you could say "Fuck you"(in a obvious hostile way) or use fuck in a NSFW way, and we can action that.

For other words that are filtered, (especially your word you said) you can use it to refer to a concept or subject as "stupid" but the cases where people use it to refer to a concept or subject is not more than they refer to a person as it. Not to mention as I said previously the word has ties to be offensive to disabled people.

I don't think we can ban just "fuck you" because it takes the words individually, so "you" would also be filtered which we don't want.

Most of our emotes are official Riot content though. The stickers of the SG and Slayer skin line are direct content from the now removed Boards (trust me, I used those Boards for years). Most of the rest of them are emotes pulled directly from the game itself, being able to be purchased and used in game. While there are a few fan made ones ( for example), the majority are official Riot Games made content.

As for the League accounts, the game does seem to have pretty good cheat detection, so I don't think there is much to do there. @inner lark I'd like to empathize the fact that even before the change of riot handing over owner to users, is that riot has a very minimal input into the community. It's not like the moderation team changed overnight, or not that team who made decisions changed overnight. It's the same team from the very start of the server who is still handling things, just they get more freedom over what they can and cannot do. The "bunch of random users" didn't "shoo away" riot. We didn't want riot to go frankly, but it's just that it was their time to go and they wanted to.

TLDR: This is the same staff team as before, nothing changed besides the reduction of the already minimal presence riot had over the server.

But I do agree to an extent, removing champ emotes might have been better suited for a community poll before a big change like that occurred. But I do understand moderation concern. As the champ pool increases we need a emote slot for every champion assuming every slot is for a champ we would have 16 more years before the server is full of emotes with purely icons. Which is unrealistic of course but it comes a point where we are very limited in emote spaces for things like possible server events and whatnot.

When looking into our server, I searched the use of the champion emotes in the server. Out of millions and millions of posts, IIRC the highest champion emote use was Yuumi at if I remember correctly, MAYBE 10k posts? Maybe that's me being horrifically generous. And that was mostly because people actively used the emote to meme on Yuumi as a champion existing. There is a niche for using champion emotes, I agree, and it's very useful, but it's also very space-consuming. To be perfectly transparent, most people shit on the champion emotes until we removed them, and then we got a 360 spin of everyone hating that we removed them because of their niche use some people liked. This is a situation where it seems to be either lose, or lose. In this case, we have the ability to add new emotes, get emotes commissioned, run events to allow the community to shape what emotes they want in the server as well, and generally it's more of a net positive than a negative.

If we readded emotes, the niche use of them would come back, but it would remove space for us to add things like esports orgs during large events like Worlds, getting emotes custom-made, running competitions in the future to fill up slots, and generally, it also makes it REALLY hard to regular users to find emotes they like and use. When I'm looking for an emote to use in a situation, I don't want to scroll through 150 champions in the LoL emote list just to get to the one emote I actually would use in conversation.

Usually to get roles, you just go in #⬫┆bot-cmds and type in *@*OriannaBot configure. Generally the bot will configure throughout all servers you're in that has the bot.

Mods, there's a lack of a decent list of what champs are played where out there on the internet. I think we should have a list pinned in #⬫┆new-players chat so people have a list of options to choose from when considering what role / champion to play.

Websites like op.gg, u.gg, and tier list videos on YouTube aren't meant to be used by a beginner player, and the client has horrid descriptors of how champions should be played. I think we should have a list of which roles champions are 'traditionally' played. Oddball flavor of the month picks like Maokai Support, Taric Mid, Soraka Top, and more are geared towards competitive play first, then copied by the general player base. General is just the base chat whileas hangout is locked behind experience perms. Yes theres no slowmode in hangout but in all respect Moderators and stuff cant do anything about a user not being able to keep track of what’s happening, theyre not responsible for that kind of stuff. In a sense having another chat thats even more exclusive cancels out the purpose of hangout in the first place. In fact itll only be more dead and is only subject to a solid 50 people, doesn’t exactly have a purpose to it

First off, I don't believe that we have any gun emotes in our line-up.

Second, if someone has an emote from another server that is graphic or offensive you can always report it and we'll remove it (i.e. someone shooting another).

Thirdly, since the game we are a community for has many champions that use guns in it, it is unlikely that we are going to ban guns. NSFW content like lewd emotes have no place on this server. Relevant images of guns such as Caitlyn's sniper or Jihn's handgun are probably not going anywhere.
