um, i dunno if this will work but its worth a shot: try opening your device manager for your computer, via the control panel?

there should be a dropdown for "human interface devices"

wild guess and a shot in the dark but i assume your computer is detecting an invisible gamepad or something and the game is prioritizing that over m+kb, so maybe tinker with that and see if it fixes anything...?

Does this game not work with certain mouses? I just picked up a steelseries mouse and the mouse no longer locks onto the game anymore. I have a dual screen setup and adjusting the mouse settings does nothing for me. I can use controller but I was wondering if there is a fix for this or if anyone has experienced similar issues with new mouses not locking onto the game screen.

So whenever I open up Risk of Rain 2 and start a match, my mouse movements are not locked to one screen. If I go too far to the right the mouse moves to the other screen.

I have never experienced this issue with an extremely cheap mouse so I'm wondering if it's just the mouse compatibility (which I think it is) or if I just need to change a setting.

I have been looking for a setting to adjust but haven't found anything yet. I'll keep looking or probably just switch to controller.

hello beautiful people, I just bought risk of rain 2 and encountered a problem. When I start the game the usual blackscreen appears with the mannequin and the percentage indicator. Thing is, it appears to be stuck and does not load anything. I waited about 15min and nothing happens. Game seems fine and does not crash. I just get stuck in that loading animation. Tried to re-install it, update my drivers as well, nothing worked 😦 please help I want to play this awesome game ..

It can, but that doesn't mean that it would be able to play it fairly well.

I would imagine that 720P Low would get some very solid results out of the game.

The game is fairly easy to get running on lower end hardware, however the recommendation for it is very low due to the external applications you would have to use in order to achieve playable framerates at that low of hardware.

Basically it seems like a memory error. Some people report that it can come from Citrix Workspace (if you have that installed, then uninstall it)
It can also be caused by overcloacked RAM (if you're using XMP profile, try disabling them)
The other thing I find weird (but maybe i'm wrong) is that you're paging is very low (only 1GB)

What i've suggested so far was:
-sfc/scannow
-downloading geforce experience => updating drivers (and swapping from integrated graphics to dedicated one)
-performing a clean boot

None of these changed anything. So yeah maybe using DDU would help

do not use the CPU as the GPU, its not a good idea, so if there is an Intel GPU driver installed, please delete it and ensure you run on your Nvidia card

Honestly, reinstall Windows from a fresh install. If you have drivers from a card that isn't in the system, it indicates that there has either been a hardware change, or that you are using a cloned copy of an old Windows install. Both of which are pretty bad.

@sharp vortex get the pic of windows event viewer with last critical system error so we could see the code (number, like 41) of the critical error and a couple of previous errors. Use filters to find critical error 1st and then expand filter to fit other types of errors. Google for how to.

Press winkey+R and type in eventvwr this opens windows event viewer, where you can find what happened prior to pc shutdown.
In that window navigate from left panel to system, should be inside of windows journals folder. Click on it, there should be a list of all errors with dates, short descriptions and error codes.
Sort this list for criticals from right panel, you can do this with filter of this journal

Usiually its related to power issues (code 41) If there isnt enough power to supply from PSU - pc protects itself by shutting down.

@sharp vortex easyly could be biilt with errors, assembly or incompatibility. Humans assrmble pc's, there is plenty of room for unplugged 4/4 power cable. Check your power supply yourself, look for cables that go into motherboard near cpu. Check for wattage, if its enough.

Not all games/software are the same. RoR2 is waaay different in terms on how it uses hardware compared to apex.
Evntvwr states power issue, bluescreen pushed toeards it even more, the fact of not crasing of the game strengthens it and coinsedencr of hardware change and fresh assembly strongly points at psu.
Check it 1st.
But, again i might be very wrong. No harm in further search for the root of this issue.

If you're able to test eith other (sufficient) psu that might save you some time. Id ask my friend for his for a day. No software required, its comes down to unplugging cables and unscreewing screws that hold the psu. 20min work at max.

Yesterday, I was getting 60 fps after changing some settings in my NVIDIA Control Panel, and it stayed near that throughout the entire run even during the last stage. Now I can barely reach 40 fps in stage 1. What could've caused this, and would there be any way to fix it?

@jovial inlet It's totally normal for a gaming laptop to have both intel/amd integrated GPU and a dedicated GPU (nvidia usually)

The way it works is like depending on the programm you run, the computer will either run it on the dGPU or the iGPU. (both on the laptop monitor)
You can disable the iGPU (totally remove drivers) but if you do this, every program will run on the dGPU and it will consumme much more power (when you're not plugged in) so this is usually not a good idea

quick ice what settings did you change?

I went into control panel, program settings, and changed:

power managament mode to "prefer maximum performance"
Anisotropic sample optimization to "on"
Quality to "high perfomance"
Trillinear optimization to "on"
Threaded optimization to "on"

I also added "-window-mode exclusive -high" to launch options on steam

I have since downloaded the software Lossless Scaling and messed around with it but it didn't improve performance so I closed it. After I closed both the game and the scaling software, I changed the launch options on steam again (I had removed it while trying the scaling) and now it's at 60 fps again for some reason

@azure oasis If so, they can easily be replaced with something like an SSD, which will not only make the drive usage much faster, but will usually increase longevity for the system.

So the hard drive my dad put in the PS4 is a Seagate 2TB FireCuda HDD. reason for the larger hard drive is COD has made their game so large that I've had to delete every other game just to accompany it (except risk, I was able to save it since you know one of my faves) because COD is pretty much getting close to exceeding the 500GB hard drives. So I'll have to look at the larger options for console gaming. I'm not sure about the hard drive in this laptop though so I can't say for sure.

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR is an hardware problem indicator. It doesnt say what's wrong at all. Its just a windows way of saying - something went wrong.

The error stated here #ror2-tech-support message
Only says that the system shutdown uncleanly. It has nothing to do with the actual issue.
If you are getting a Whea, it's an indication of hardware failure/error.

You have provided 0 statistics to indicate it's a cooling issue. Not sure why you would even start there.
Event Viewer gives you exactly what threw off a Whea and a Machine Exception Check.
You're beating around the bush with no real reason other than guess what the issue could be without verifying that's what the actual issue is.

I do not see any specific issues here that would relate to the crashing, however there are issues with the built outside of the crashing that can cause lower performance than expected.

I also recommend against a liquid cooler as you do not have an overclockable chip, and you aren't likely to see that much heat out of the system that can't be solved with just a normal air cooler.

Hello, I joined this server to try and seek help with a technical issue I've been having. I've tried tons of stuff so this is kind of my last resort.

Recently I have been trying to play Risk of Rain 2 with my cousins online, and we were able to successfully play yesterday and earlier today, but now when we try to connect to each other, only the host is able to make it to character selection. the other player(s) get sent a to a black screen for a bit, then sent back to the main menu.

I was wondering if anyone else has been having this issue, and knows of a fix. I've tried so many things and don't know what to do at this point.

@weak otter start with gpu/cpu usage. See if something odd happens, like low gpu usage. Check that game runs on dedicated gpu and not on integrated one, see output log for that, check pins.
If recently game worked fine see if gpu driver update bricked down the performance, revert back to older drivers, or newer if possible.

@weak otter press winkey + r that oppens a field, type in dxdiag and press enter. Dxdiag window will open, wait till it gets the info about your pc, save it into a text file with button on bottom. Send me this file in dm.
For gpu usage you could use external software like afterburner, there is alot of those aviable, just google for ingame gpu usage.
Above in this channel you could also see some examples in pics.
Ill go about the file, check for odditys, but im away from pc so cant really tell you exact steps rn

Just because the newest are installed doesn't mean that they are currently working.
The best option would be to start from the newest on a fresh install of those drivers.
If there are issues further the next step would be to try an older version of the drivers.

I am on the latest - if there has ever been a problem it's been solved by just reinstalling the current/latest set of drivers that are available
No need for older sets that might not benefit other titles that they play.

There is a mod that tryes to compensate that. Its not a fix of the problem tho. Stutter stunner.

Press: ctrl + alt + `
This combination is order sensitive, make sure you press it in that order, it opens up the console. After you did this you can open the console just with last key, without pressing ctrl or alt (this key typically found under escape button, may be set to other key in different keyboard layout)

Type in fps_max 60 and press enter. This limits the framerate for the game. The slower the framerate the less garbage gfx engine creates so stutters should go away or atleast be less visible. If that's the case we found whats wrong. But as i said, it's not a fix.

@weak otter dont really know what happens there, last sensible thing that comes to mind is trying older gpu drivers, but before that check that no power saving feature is turned on on your laptop, there were cases where random windows update turned power saving modes that tanked down the performance before, and yes, plug in power cord.

Repeating that again, its not a fix. Its like choking out the game so it wont run so fast as it was before. Placing those commands limits the engine performance. You have more than 200hz refresh rate monitor so its gonna be visible for you, but atleast this helps to point the problem.

@sick swift game is cpu heavy indeed, gpu isnt going all the way so much so. Unless heavy scenes are rendering.
With that fps id said its reasonable usage, but it 100% limited by something, otherwise fps would be much greater.
I saw a lot of ppl eith various performance issue on rtx series that have no reason to be there. Modt the cases were new drivers autoupdated and caused problems. Unknown why and what exactly effected.

If it finds nothing and the CPU is still behaving that way, I would suspect that it's something installed running in the background that isn't malicious, but running because you told it to and forgot about it.

Generally though with the CPU usage is high and nothing has anything to show for it, it's a virus/miner of some sort.

Hi there, I don't know what happened but my game won't recognize my keyboard/mouse as an input. It just says "no gamepad binding" I don't have ANY controller plugged in. This issue occurs when Windows is reporting a gamepad, joystick, or other input device providing a non-neutral input. This is usually caused by:

Having a gamepad, flight stick, HOTAS, pedal, racing wheel, or any other kind of non-keyboard/non-mouse input device plugged in. Simply unplug the device from your computer.
Having vjoy installed. If you've ever tried to use a GameCube controller with your PC, you probably have it installed. Opening your computer's Device Manager window should allow you to disable or uninstall it.

I don't know if it is a bug from the game right now or on my part, but I just can't unlock any of the achievements of mastery, I unlocked one few weeks ago for commando but. Today I did 3 successful run of monsoon Huntress and still did not win anything. So I told myself it must be a bug so I did a monsoon run with bandit to see if I can win it there. But I still did not get anything. I figure something must be wrong with my game. Here is a screenshot of the post-stats of my last successful run

you click "import savefile"
go to the file location that it says C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[number]\632360\remote\UserProfiles (for where it says [number], you want to click on the most recently opened one)
upload the file you want (im assuming you only have one save file, if not, choose the one with the smallest file size)
click all the unlocks you want
click "export savefile" (or you can just use the example savefile it provides)
replace the old file with the new one

please go through the files manually, dont just paste the file hierarchy

remember to always back up the old save file

@weak otter yeah this seems right. If you downloaded some videos or programs before isdue happened - there might be trojans that pull out miner that hides its presence. Idk how good offline scan is, but can tell for sure dr web's cureit finds those. Worth to run from time to time when there is unusual activity on gpu/cpu usage.

You can also configure the save file manually to unlock the monster logs. Plenty of guides online.

@orchid flame These are the things you could try to solve the problem:
-Run the game as admin
-Uninstall/reinstall drivers from GPU
-If you're on a laptop, try running with the other GPU
-Perform a clean boot and try launching the game. You'll need to launch steam as admin (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd)
-Check for corrupted windows files: Open cmd as admin and type sfc/scannow
-Reset windows while keeping files (last resort solution)

This issue occurs when Windows is reporting a gamepad, joystick, or other input device providing a non-neutral input. This is usually caused by:

Having a gamepad, flight stick, HOTAS, pedal, racing wheel, or any other kind of non-keyboard/non-mouse input device plugged in. Simply unplug the device from your computer.
Having vjoy installed. If you've ever tried to use a GameCube controller with your PC, you probably have it installed. Opening your computer's Device Manager window should allow you to disable or uninstall it.
