The line looks like this: resolution 1280x1024x75;
75 is a refresh rate, match that with your monitor, or leave at 60.

This issue occurs when Windows is reporting a gamepad, joystick, or other input device providing a non-neutral input. This is usually caused by:

Having a gamepad, flight stick, HOTAS, pedal, racing wheel, or any other kind of non-keyboard/non-mouse input device plugged in. Simply unplug the device from your computer.
Having vjoy installed. If you've ever tried to use a GameCube controller with your PC, you probably have it installed. Opening your computer's Device Manager window should allow you to disable or uninstall it.

That's a keyboard device, likely you had it sticked in in two different ports, data might be saved and not cleared so you could stick it back without initialising the device again. No way its the cause of your lags, check mods since you say vanila is fine.

auth tickets generally refer to an invalid session. restart your pc and log out and in on steam, then launch the game again

yeah its strange that the identical setup can near max out RDR2, but ROR2 struggles around 30fps. Clearly a driver issue of some sort

Heya! My risk of rain 2 game is completely broken on start up. It began by opening only as a tiny window, that was too small to resize even, I tried alt-enter to full screen, and starting the game up in fullscreen by holding alt on start up and it shows the loading icon for a moment and then cuts to a black screen and stays like that. I've tried verifying the files, reinstalling the game and nothing seems to be changing it. The game was running just fine earlier today

He has a similar problem but the difference with me is that I only have to one profile, I never created another one and there’s only one XML file in the Steam files for Ror2. It can also be related to corrupted files. I would recommend running cmd as admin and using "sfc/scannow"

You could also use "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth"

(these are commands to check windows files and restore them if corrupted)

Alright so what happened was I was trying to manually add Logs to my gamefiles (it didn't work). I remove them through the XML file and later find that my profile is now "corrupted" once I tried to launch the game. Is there any way of me to fix this?.. like could I possibly delete ALL of my gamefiles and freshly install the game again for the issue to be resolved?

@cosmic sage Looks like the problem on your friend's side.
You sure you're not using steam invite or numbers to connect?
You must use connect command in the console for non steam connection type.
There is a dedicated server option, try using one of available ones to connect you and your friend. Creating your own doesnt solve this issue.
For last you could try to use mobile internet, share a hotspot for your router, accept the connection as a client and pass it to the pc thru wire (notebook could be connected thru wi-fi)

We tried using radminvpn , made our connect and invited using the console in game using the host's IP address. when we do no one gets kicked out instead my friends gets into selection lobby but cant do anything and nothing loads ups. then ones we start the game they get kicked out.

You can ping your friend thru radmin, right click his nickname inside of your network and select ping. CMD opens up, where you can see some numbers scrolling down. What does it looks like to you and your friend? Press alt+printscreen, send both pics here.
Also check that you got Stable connection (green icon next to nickname) If there is Relayed connection somewhere next to - this might be the issue.
Cant really think of any obstructions that may cause your issue, but might be not actually related to connection. Might be desync due to difference in files. As i understand only one of your group cant connect to others/host for others. Run file integrity check with steam, make sure there is no old manually installed mods inside the game folder.
Get your external ip on http://myip.com give it to your friend, he must ope up the cmd.exe with admin right (search with windows search for cmd.exe and right click it > run as admin) There he should type in tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where x-es are your external ip. Press enter and let it do its stuff, picture it with alt+printscreen and drop me in dm's (contains actual ips of you and your friend, not dangerous, but still.. a bit of privacy) Even if it says something like couldnt reach, unreachable etc. Its still got some value.

I blame the ISP here. Zain
Seems to lose packets on provider's side right after 1st gate.
RadminVPN gets reliable connection done, but still loses lots of packets, game kicks out due to lack of data.
Cant think of the solution other than changing tarification plan/ static ip option or ISP all together.

This issue occurs when Windows is reporting a gamepad, joystick, or other input device providing a non-neutral input. This is usually caused by:

Having a gamepad, flight stick, HOTAS, pedal, racing wheel, or any other kind of non-keyboard/non-mouse input device plugged in. Simply unplug the device from your computer.
Having vjoy installed. If you've ever tried to use a GameCube controller with your PC, you probably have it installed. Opening your computer's Device Manager window should allow you to disable or uninstall it.

@real bolt @white burrow generally speaking multiplayer functions as well as many other gameplay functions are super broken on consoles currently and we are all waiting for a patch to adress these issues
It's been quite a few months since the last patch tho
Also you could check out the pinned list in #ror2-bug-reports-console to get a clearer idea of what's not working
But I don't promise nor guarantee that you will be able to find a solution.
Consoles are just that messed up right now.

My internet provider locks me at NAT type D on Switch and won't let me play most games online, including stuff like ror2 and Smash.
But free to play games like brawlhalla, spellbreak, fortnite or minigames like luigi's baloon world work just fine

@elfin stag made so there isnt 2 separate systems for dedisterver and normal host. Game forces player 0 to connect the lobby as there should be at least 1 host. Steam is needed to list a server in steamworks for everyone to see (advert) and also for data transfer to connect host with all clients and back, since clients are separated from eachother - there must be something, player or dediserver dummy.
Tldr: that's normal behaviour

you only get one if the ror2 logo with the unity build shows up, means the game is writing crash logs, in your case its impossible since the game isnt crashing, your pc is running into issues

It's only prismatic trial. Everything else fine. It also just feels clunky for some reason. My guess is that the client is phoning to a server to prevent cheating during prismatic trials and favors what server sees. Entirely just a guess tho.

Restarted computer
Updated graphics card
Ran Steam as admin
Disabled antivirus
Verified integrity of game files & reinstalled game on steam
Ran ROR2 in Windows 7 compatibility mode
Followed iosq's method here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/632360/discussions/1/2605804632897159232/

From the pin:

Made sure overclock wasn't enabled from bios
Ran the 3 commands (sfc, chkdsk , and DISM) and then used windows memory diagnostics to check for memory issues

Your mouse probb have software coming along with it, there should be such setting. Try lower values. Game engine lagging behind trying to adjust to mouse input.

Some wireless mouse have switch on bottom that changes frequency, try 250hz, 500hz. There could be interference.

If this works I will kiss you! I spent $55 on my G pro wireless mouse and it is UNUSABLE sometimes. Even outside of games it does this. It's almost like the software is "loading" and while it is loading it stutters. Then it will be fine for a while. I don't know man, but I had it set to 1000. I will try 500 for now.

@orchid flame If you know what motherboard you have (if not use aida64 or read the label on the motherboard itself) google for how to disable xmp memory profile for it. You need to go to the bios and flip some switches, most likely XMP set to auto or 1. Put it to disabled.
If you have 2 ram cards - pull out one and test the game, if it still crashes - pull that one and change it for other, test the game again with other ram card.

What's happening is your game tyres to write/read from ram and fails to find the place where it should be writing/reading data. XMP (A kind of overclock that your pc does for ram) is known to cause problems on some machines, we don't know why.
There also might be some issue with your ram cards, when things go a little bit faster with the game progression - load on ram increases and if you have multiple ram cards they might malfunction. Other games might be fine, but unity engine for some reason doesn't like that and crashes.

Updating bios sometimes helps too.

Fellas and fellettes this is my last beacon of hope. I have tried everything to fix the “sudden lag” issue in-game. I have time stamps of the game running at full capacity (max settings 90-100 FPS) and then suddenly the next day, and every day since, it is running like absolute poopoo. My PC is more than capable of running it (1050ti, Ryzen 5 2600x, and 16gb DDR4 3400mhz ram running at 550W) I have tried everything the internet. I am turning to alternative medicine to help fix my game’s illness. If anyone can share any advice. Pls help.

I can manage it for now with just uninstalling and reinstalling citrix every day before work, takes like 30 seconds to install to my SSD. No biggie, just a little cumbersome. I figure it will be fixed by either hopoo or citrix eventually. Thanks for helping me find the root of the issue 🙂

And change 50 to 60 - its a refreshrate.
So you should have 1280x720x60.
Make sure you saved the file with the same settings as it was. If not - delete it, game will create another one.

Regarding the access violation error, I've done some testing over the couple past days. I found that if I play ror2 with just one of my 16gb ram cards, my game does not crash. I tried swapping the RAM chip with the other and it still does not crash. This crash only happens when I have both ram chips plugged in. Do you know why my game crashes with two ram chips but not with one?

I have the latest bios version and XMP is not enabled.

@orchid flameIt is something that has been found experimentally, we dont know why exactly game crashes. My speculation is on the frequency hiccups. Game engine doesnt like xmp on some machines, and xmp - is a kind of overclock that thinkers with power and frequency. When you have multiple ram cards installed you have to run them at same frequency and there might be some fluctuations. Due o how data is written on ram - it might be spread on different cards and i guess it gets lost under higher loads, game trying to find it and fails.
I don't have a solution for this other than changing ram.

this is just lag. it runs off the hosts internet, so when the host is playing, its not laggy, but who isnt hosting will lag. try looking through the pinned messages and make a dedicated server if the lag is that much of a problem

Hi. sorry if this is a common issue often talked about, just couldn't find anything out there for a proper fix. I've been having a stuttering issue with ROR2. so from just doing anything, whether it's in a game, pause menu, main menu etc. I receive a stutter roughly at a 3-4 second intervals constantly without avail.
here is all the troubleshooting attempts I've made to try and fix it:
-reinstalling and verifying game integrity
-changing from full screen to windowed
-changing refresh rate + vsync
-changing graphics settings
-changing power options in windows
-updating graphics drivers
-restarting computer
-reseating ram
-installing the StutterStunter mod by Rein
-enabling all cores in task manager for ROR2
-closing other applications and background tasks
-changing the polling rate on mouse
-unplugging all USB devices
-disabling XMP settings
-unplugging multiple monitor's
-using a fresh install of graphics drivers

I can't find anymore fixes online to try and solve this so any other suggestions is super appreciated
PS: I've done other support tickets for other games stuff and they seems to always ask for the DXDiag so I thought I'd include that as well. sorry if it breaks a rule or you don't need it

I am also having issues with the multiplayer not letting me join or host games, but allows me to join via invite. I have restarted the game multiple times, verified files and their integrity, made my dns the Google one at 8.8.8.8, got updated graphics and drivers, and most up to date on my windows 10.

Fun fact, I found 2 bugs in Void Fields.

Bug one, if you are passively killing many enemies, be it by arctic storm, unstable tesla coil, etc. Attempting to leave will result in an endless loop of money turning into exp. And no teleporting until either you manage to get far away enough to stop killing enemies, or they kill you.

Have you tried running the game w/o any mods at all? I looked through your logs and nothing stands out. Also, are you using Windows 11? It could also be your mouse as the engine doesn't handle high polling rates very well. #ror2-modding message

None of those are bugs. Tc left in enemy items poll last time items were removed from it.
It does kill you in seconds, yeah. Avoid enemys or leave.
Aurelionite is spawning only on tp events and on boss fight.
Money thingy is a thing, not only in fields. All your gold becomes exp when you leaving the stage, the more you have the faster, killing enemys gives income. Once this stage is done, your gold is equal to 0, and not small amount like 0.05$ you have a few sec to get some cash along with you to the next stage (this part however is a bug, but a welcome one).
Also this is techsupport, we fix the software/hardware, not the gameplay.

Btw game engine version is engine version: 2018.4.16f1
Why? Thats what it was built on and undergo a several engine updates. Note that you need years to develop a game and you dont want to rewrite it eaxh time there is an engine update

You need to have both. If you deleted all 4 for 2015 and 2019 both for 86 and 64, and it still wont install those by the link - message me, its totally corrupted then. There is a fix for that. And yes, its better not to replace with installer option, but to manually delete them yourself beforehand.

very sorry, read the notification tray for you message and only saw about the not running mods part. i am on windows 10 but i do know i have a really high polling rate mouse so that is worth looking into. i'll give it a try now

yeah it certainly was a selling point. it's a corsair dark core pro rgb. just set the polling rate to 250hz instead of the stupidly high 2000hz. just gotta close some applications for a stable enviroment then i'll see if it's fixed

unfortunately it looks like it didn't work. i tried both with a 250hz polling rate and a 125hz polling rate as well as checking whether fullscreen and windowed mode affected anything in tangent. also, for a sanity check. i tried unplugging both mouse and keyboard mid game to see if that did anything and it made no difference

Try unplugging all usb devices. There is a known bug in some directx that I can't quiet recall, but I do recall the way to check is to remove all USB devices

here's a recording of the stutter, so sometimes it may happen in the main menu but with this recording it didn't so i didn't include it to save space. but it can be seen that either looking around, not using the mouse or not using the keyboard and mouse does not seem to affect the stutter

With NVidia it's a checkbox in the installer. Though if I have a particularly hard to debug issue, I typically use a program called "Display Driver Uninstaller." Download the newest driver. Launch into safemode, run DDU, clean uninstall and instruct it to delete all files. Then boot into windows normally. Make sure your internet is unplugged so windows doesn't auto-fetch a driver. Then install the correct driver and plug the internet back in.

Hi. welcome to my ongoing issue . I've been having a stuttering issue with ROR2. so from just doing anything, whether it's in a game, pause menu, main menu etc. I receive a stutter roughly at a 3-4 second intervals constantly without avail.
here is all the troubleshooting attempts I've made to try and fix it:
-reinstalling and verifying game integrity
-changing from full screen to windowed
-changing refresh rate + vsync
-changing graphics settings
-changing power options in windows
-updating graphics drivers
-restarting computer
-reseating ram
-installing the StutterStunter mod by Rein
-enabling all cores in task manager for ROR2
-closing other applications and background tasks
-changing the polling rate on mouse
-unplugging all USB devices
-disabling XMP settings
-unplugging multiple monitor's
-using a fresh install of graphics drivers

other things to note:
-I am using windows 10 with whatever the latest update is
-the recording provided is done with the geforce experience recording but i have also tried the game without it just in case it was that

I can't find anymore fixes online to try and solve this so any other suggestions is super appreciated
PS: I've done other support tickets for other games stuff and they seems to always ask for the DXDiag so I thought I'd include that as well. sorry if it breaks a rule or you don't need it

@tiny geode seems to be a common problem without certain solution.
I saw oculus device, used vr? Uninstall any software related to it.
Looks like standby ram. Win update or gpu driver issue most likely.
Even Dxdiag noticed ram misbehaving

you could be very on the mark for that one. I've in the past i infrequently had blue screens from memory/driver related issues. ive since resolved the driver side since I'm now on a fresh install of windows. but the memory thing could be a whole different can of worms. I've used this ram for more than a year now abd haven't had problems until the last 2-3 months. when debugging stuff i reseated my ram but other than that i don't know if I'm able to debug any further. i don't own any more ddr4 ram except what's in it

I dont remember the details, but one guy had problems with performance on higher end pc due to vr software.

I'm guessing here, but atleast its somewhat tangential to the info we got here.

Stuttering isue tracks back to 2019 where win update f ed up alot of players with that issue.
It seems to get back again.

Thats why im sceptical about hardware failure, it just doesnt look like faulty ram, but im almost 99% positive that gpu usage drops to 1/3of its usage right before stutter occurs and ram just sits, awaiting data.

when i'm doing the nvidia installation i'm just doing express install with geforce experience. if you'd like me to do a custom install or without geforce experience i can do that

@tiny geode failed to find what the last error connected to. Dxdiag contains StoreAgentSearchUpdatePackagesFailure1 which isnt say much to me.
Game log got nothing usefull to the problem.
Try older gpu drivers, like from June old.
Id also recommend to get an external drive/usb stick and install there portable separate os, with minimum updates. If games run fine on that we can exclude hardware

i might do some of that at a later point but for now i'll just rest on the idea of fixing it. thank you all for the copious amount of help you've provided it's been really fun. but i feel we've stretched the limits of what i'm willing to do in such a short period of time. if i come back to the game later and it still doesn't work. i'll be sure to visit here again

other games i play haven't had this. was just mentioning in the past they just asked for dxdiag when troubleshooting. for instance: halo asks for one

Going to post here in case people haven't seen my post in #ror2-bug-reports-pc

booted up the game this morning , joined a game where none of us seemed to be alive except for the host, exited, then went singleplayer the drop pod went down , pressed E and then no response at all from Mouse 1 / WASD , other skills / jump works but i'm unable to move or attack.

I tried :

Restarting The Game
Verifying Game Cache
Restarting Steam
Restarting PC
Reinstalling Game
Deleting "Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\Hopoo Games, LLC"
Using Geek Uninstaller to remove left over files after deletion

Does NOT do this in any other game.

I need to see what input devices windows sees, game doesn't go along with some hid devices installed, it takes some obscure driver for an input of a gamepad and messes up the control scheme.

Did you do the DDU full reinstall thing I was talking about? If you have that is a clean install for your graphics driver. Also, you mentioned you had done a full windows reinstall at some point, did you happen to play the game fine from any point past that windows reinstall?

I’ve gotten this issue now without mods, so I’m just gonna ask for help here: my game decides to randomly crash later into runs, as in stage 6 or so, and I have zero clue why this is happening. I didn’t remember at the time to check the output.log file, so i may need to do another run to try and grab that. I guess it’s good to note that I was playing multiplayer in all the cases this happened.

hm. youll need an it guy @ goo or @ muddak, but id say this is probably something you can fix with drivers or settings since its likely performance. check pins, maybe thers a solution up there

all of my controls have unbound and I am unable to even navigate menus. I don't have any mods installed nor do I have any controllers connected to my PC as I exclusively play on Keyboard and Mouse... is there an easy way to fix this without completely resetting my data?

and yes, I tried deleting config.cfg file and as soon as I chose my profile the problem returns

update: it appears to be independent of profile. I've done an integrity check and even that doesn't work. Im really stumped

I've also reinstalled the game just in case.
I've also tried deleting the config file so it generates a fresh one. it appears that controls are saved in the same place game progress is and I can't think of a good way of fixing this without completely resetting my game's progress...

its worth a shot, worst case scenario you just recreate your save file, its pretty easy to edit the xml file (iirc?) to restore your achievements

if you reset your game files you can use ror2 save editor to get achivements back

there are save editors around if you end up needing to re-add your achievements, there's also just the traditional method of tinkering with the file itself
