So after more experimentation, mostly removing extra C++ redistributables I found installed, I am now hanging instead of just hard crashing anymore. The last 3 have been hanging but not creating crash logs, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas to fix this? It tends to start after stage 5 and consistently happens after that every few minutes.

Ok I fixed it by going to "advanced display settings" and setting ROR2 to "high performance"

I guess new windows update just changes everything to "balanced" by default, cause this wasnt a problem in the past.

Since getting a new pc or since some new update (I haven't played in about 6 months) whenever I open the game the game cursor icon is stuck in the top right of the screen and when i click the windows cursor will pop up. I am unable to click anything on the UI, and only enter works on the keyboard.

Hello! I have a weird issue.
Currently, only Blue Prince and RoR2 have this issue. I cannot use the keyboard properly. If I hold down the buttons, it seems like its registering my pressing the buttons really fast.
It only happens to these two games, as Helldivers, Repo, Lethal, and typing all work fine.
I've tried using a different keyboard and it didn't help. I've uninstalled, verified game files, uninstalled and updated keyboard drivers, turned off overlays, there is no controller connected.

Hello I'm new here. And I have a big issue. Sorry for the long explanation.
I got a new pc in May. I played Risk of Rain 2 on my old one and it was fine. Last night I tried it again and it keeps crashing. I use the Steam platform.

I have tried everything. I have totally reinstalled my graphics drivers using DDU. I've run disk checks in cmd. I've run memory diagnostics. I've reinstalled the game on different drives. I've run it in admin mode. I've verified the files, sometimes all files are verified and sometimes there are 2 files missing (always 1.7KB in size). I've run it on low graphics. I even sent my player.log files to ChatGPT to help diagnose the problem, and look for solutions. But I keep getting the same crash. *ChatGPT keeps mentioning that Unity is leaking memory or something idk. I have run the game in DirectX11 using multiple commands. I have turned off all overlays. I have run System File Checker in Powershell and found corrupt files that were repaired.
I'm not running any mods or any overclocking.
Still nothing works. I had 2K Games Customer Support help me. We were unable to find a fix so he sent me over to Microsoft Support. That really didn't produce anything.
Surely the issue cannot be on my side if every single other game works just fine.

Hey guys I've got a steamworks failed to launch error while loading RoR2 on my steamdeck offline

So, i wanted to stream ror2 to my laptop to play it in bed, but uh for some reason this game and my controller do NOT play nice. Essentially, if I have it set on 2.4, it will connect to steam and will perfectly let me menu, but the second i get in game, it shows nothing bound. I've attempted to bind buttons but the buttons will not read inputs when trying to bind anything. I know for a fact the controller works fine in every single other game I play, because I use it with a lot of games and do not have this issue. When I attempt to use bluetooth mode it'll connect to the laptop fine, but steam won't see it. Not that I'd want to use bluetooth since the other mode has no input lag at all. I think it's something that shows up at the bottom of the task manager when you have Epic Games open? It looks like it's part of how the Epic Games crossplay works but I assume it would appear if you were trying to play the Epic Games version. If that process isn't in the task manager, then there's only two other things I found that might work. Someone said that loading singleplayer or dying in singleplayer fixed it for them. The other option would be to make a new profile in-game, but that would be the last resort.

I recently purchased this controller and tried using it in Bluetooth mode and Wireless mode, and Steam recognizes the model correctly. But the game doesn't. There's no way to transfer progress directly, but on pc you can use the realercheatunlocks mod to get your progress back easily

1. Assuming you're on steam, make sure you and your friend both have crossplay disabled, and turn off your VPN if you're using one

Otherwise, are you sure the dlc actually got added to your account? I'm not familiar with purchasing on Xbox but you might have to talk to gearbox/Microsoft support directly

when playing ror2(steam version), my PC(windows10) sometimes suddenly shuts down as if the power cord was yanked out of my system... this likely isnt an issue with ror2 itself as it happens with other games, but it only happens with specific games(satisfactory, fortnite, and valerant to name a few), no matter how low i put graphic settings this issue always reappears eventually, is anyone here smart enough to help me fix this issue so that it doesn't happen with ror2 at the very least?

I'm not an expert, but if I had to guess, that sounds like your PC might be overheating. It's easy to check, if you download something like speccy or HWMonitor you can keep an eye on CPU/GPU temp while playing. If you consistently see temps above around 85C then that's probably the issue.
If that's not it then you're probably better off looking elsewhere for tech support because this channel is pretty dead lol

So it's been a while since I last played RoR2, and I would like to hop on but for whatever reason the game isn't emitting any sound whatsoever. I've checked the in-game settings for sound and music to make sure they weren't muted, checked Steam's voice/audio settings and those of my OS, even enabled Windows Gamebar to see if the volume mixer was the culprit and nothing seems to be amiss. RoR2 is the only game in my entire Steam library giving me this issue and I have no idea how to fix it, Google doesn't yield any helpful results.

Not sure about the stage looping bug, but iirc this can be caused by having the intro disabled. If you used any mods that skip the intro, it'll keep happening even with those mods turned off.

you can also try fully deleting the ror2 folder (through windows explorer, not uninstalling with steam) and then reinstalling, that seems to work for some people

I recently tried modding the game using r2modman but decided to go back to vanilla. Now, when starting the game normally via Steam, it makes me stuck on level 2 stages even when I progress to level 3 and 4 (example on screenshot) as well as giving incorrect stage names. It also forces me to create multiple profiles every time I start the game.

I have tried uninstalling, restarting my PC and then reinstalling, deleting the modpack in r2modman and also checking the file integrity in Steam. The file integrity check shows that 2 files fails to validate and fixes said files (I did a 2nd check and it found no issues), however after starting the game it again claims that the files fail to validate.

The mods were nothing special, one that changed the stage colors, one to give more details about items and one or two others with similar things. There were a ton of mods in total due to the mods needing other mods to work etc.

Any ideas about how to fix it? I want to keep my save.

it seems on wine (or at least on macos wine, m4 max btw) the steamworks integration is chugging the game fps down real hard despite the game being fairly simple graphics wise
fps can drop to like 80fps in the multiplayer lobby and character selection screen and getting sub 100 in a 1p multiplayer lobby (got chugged to sub 20fps stage 5 on a 6 player lobby i hosted once) (and seems like steamworks is always running in the background so it affects single player fps as well)

by literally turning on crossplay which switches to egs, the game magically like doubles in fps even in singleplayer, proving the steamworks integration is kinda bogged at least on mac wine

the gpu is definitely not the problem as it only takes around 2ms to render a frame, but the frame interval (which determines actual fps) is way better with crossplay on -> steamworks somehow chugged the cpu on wine (unsure about linux)

this has never happened with any games and only happened to ror2 for me, anyone on mac/linux willing to test it out further?

Hey hey- I'm running into an issue where nothing seems to save. The runs themselves are fine, I've got no issues ingame whatsoever - but as soon as I close the game all my unlocks are gone. I still have everything I've unlocked up to a point, but any new unlocks just vanish into the aether. Progress stays as long as the game is open, but the second it closes they all vanish.

I tracked down my save file, and it says nothing's been written to it since summer 2023? (Which would check out; I'm only just coming back to the game after a long, long hiatus.) It doesn't look like the file is read-only, though, nor does steam cloud appear to have any issues here.

I've tried running the game as an administrator, verified integrity of the game files, disconnected and reconnected to steam cloud but the issue persists.

When verifying the integrity of the game files, steam says 2 files fail to validate and then reacquires them - this happens consistently after opening the game. In other games I've played with wine, they lag, stutter, and freeze. I guess try to avoid using wine if possible? I have been experiencing frequent crashes and freezes after the Alloyed Collective DLC update and have been unable to play the game long enough to see the new final boss before a crash happens. I have updated to the newest graphics drivers and done a fresh uninstall and reinstall of the game and verified the games files in steam, also i am running completely without any mods. Before the update i could play the game fine and do long stage 20+ runs with smooth performance and no crashes, I tried running the game at the absolute minimum graphics settings to see if that would help at all and it didn't, i was still having the game crash usually before stage 3 even on all the settings put at minimum. here is a crash log for my most recent crash, i have 8 more crash logs from previous crashes as well but dont want to flood the chat with them all if its not needed

The solution to stuck in the sky screen or steamwork intigration not working is to literally just enable CROSS PLAY you will logine with steam and just make ur friends do the same and good luck

probably a very vague bug, but multiplayer seems a lot more broken than it was prior to release. havent played a single full game in multiplayer due to the connection breaking around 45-60 mins in, sometimes much earlier.

On Xbox I can't access the dlc content unless I'm online. If I'm online it access it fine but when the Internet goes out (yes it happens) it boots me from it.

It should be noted that I bought the dlc separately, and not the all around package.

I've also been experiencing this. Whenever a friend and I play he hosts and in about 30% of our runs I'll get randomly kicked partway through and be unable to rejoin. It's getting incredibly frustrating and has been happening since before the dlc, we hoped the dlc would fix it but no luck

Do you by any chance have nvidia shadowplay with instant replay enabled?
I haven't seen it in ror2 specifically, but I've occasionally had this exact issue in other games, and turning off instant replay fixed it

ok, if you go to the game files and look in risk of rain 2 data > config > config.cfg, make sure that config file also has those set to 0.
Another thing you can try is manually deleting the whole game folder (don't use steam uninstall) and then reinstalling, that can also fix the issue sometimes

Dunno if anyone can help, but I've been having issues with performance in only ror2 for months, even just sitting in certain areas on a level drops down to 20fps or lower and is unplayable, while my gpu is being maxed out on usage. I was hoping this patch would fix them but it doesn't seem to have impacted it at all.
Game used to run fine, 120+fps consistently, I have an AMD Ryen 7 7800X3D and RTX 4070S, doesn't seem to be an issue with hardware as every other game runs as expected.
Tried all the usual stuff, reinstalling, running without mods, running with mods, power settings, graphics settings lowered, making sure it's not running through integrated graphics, etc. but nothing I do seems to affect it at all.

This wasn't very scientific testing at all, but better than than nothing which is all I have been able to find so far.

I did some testing with Crossover 26 Preview on MacOS 26.
In this screenshot left to right is DXMT, D3DMetal(GPTK), and DXVK.

DXMT seems to have a lot of potential with higher peak performance, but with more lag spikes, D3DMetal seems to be a better tradeoff in stability vs pure peak performance, DXVK just sucks.

When I can get a chill late game run with someone running drop in mod I'll rebenchmark the same way but with tons of stuff going on to see how they differ.

it's normal-ish, I think. If you have crossplay enabled or are on EGS, you probably won't see as many lobbies. Most PC players are on steam and crossplay is super buggy so nobody really uses it.
But I think most people either play singleplayer or do private games with friends, so there may not be many open lobbies in general

i started having an issue around the time Alloyed Collective came out (although i think it was like a week or two after release)
whenever i play multiplayer with my friend hosting (not in singleplayer or if i'm hosting), a random selection of models and/or particle effects are getting replaced with seemingly random different ones
i'm not aware of any pattern to which ones, although it is consistent from run to run
one example is a lot of bullet effects, i can cite Visions of Heresy on-hit in particular, are getting replaced with one of the alloyed visual effects
some other particles/models, i'm not sure which, are getting replaced with the scorched wurm bubbling lava effect (which never expires, so i'm worried about particle overload)
which is making the game effectively unplayable at times
in one level, we got the Void family event, and some particle was causing the black and white screen distortion shader effect, with the result that i was almost constantly blinded (and losing frames) by my screen being unreadably distorted and monochromized
my friend and i are both playing on linux with steam. we've both validated files and reinstalled, we've tried with and without mods, i've tried setting my graphics to minimum, we've tried different proton versions. the only thing i can find that fixes it is for my friend not to be the game host.

I've been dealing with missing audio on this game going on almost a month now. happened about 3 days into alloyed collective after getting the DLC. I noticed that the game was slowly getting softer between launches, and suddenly the audio was gone next launch. I'm having trouble submitting the logs due to discord not accepting the file type, and the game is both slightly harder to play without some specific audio that I am used to (wisp chargeup sounds, golem charge sounds, etc) and also I miss the general music and SFX. it has killed most drive I had for playing the game.

I have already tried validating game files, a full uninstall and reinstall, and this was all done on a fully unmodded version of the game. the same problem persists into modded as well though. I just want help playing the game with audio again. Every other app on my computer gives sound perfectly, its just RoR2 that doesnt give any audio. I have audio settings turned to full, and I also tried resetting those to default values.

I'm seeing a similar issue regarding 2 files that failed to validate, but instead of getting kicked from a lobby my game just straight up doesn't launch correctly. I can hear the intro and menu theme playing but it just displays a black box and occasionally flashes purple and blue. It screams gpu issue but ror2 is the only game giving me trouble. so many crashes I've tried everything I've searched for online and whenever I play with friends I'm super laggy I don't even have crossplay enabled ror2 people save me 😭 🙏

I bought ROR 2 at EGS and ran into the problem that I can't play the game in any way. I'm stuck on the profile creation window, because the cursor doesn't respond to anything, and the gamepad doesn't help here either. What should I do?

This was my first time trying to see if I could play modded and then then I tried it and completely wiped all my achievements off and all my characters are locked again and reverted everything back to when I first started playing the game (I am on steam and it still shows I have my achievements but the game doesn’t register them anymore so I don’t have absolutely anything unlocked)

If anyone can help or assist me with fixing this issue I would be very thankful for the help

Are you signed into the right profile? Check at the top right on the main menu

I can get the game to load, and enemies spawn, but item chests and teleporters (and i assume other interactables) do not spawn.
