hey, i'm having an issue where my ror2 both vanilla and modded is crashing when i attempt to host a multiplayer game (crashes the second i click ok on the game details, before character select screen) and becomes incredibly laggy when i attempt to join someone else (large multi-second delay between clicking a character and it switching to that character, delay before it registers i am ready, Instantly dying on loading into the game). any idea how i can trouble shoot this so i can find out what's causing these problems?

single player works fine, updated graphics card drivers and checked file integridy as well, both did not fix the issue.

i have 100% GPU usage in the game, it wasn't like that previously. My game was on medium graphics. Now i have 10 FPS in the main menu and in the game itself.

launching with and without mods
deleting all mods and trying again
reinstalling the game
even checked my pc for viruses
also updated my drivers
still the issue persisted and i can't play the game like this. My GPU is GTX 750 TI 2GB and it's enough to run the game without problems

Hey! Ive been having some issues while playing multiplayer (singleplayer is fine).. Each "shoot" my partner makes the effects just go insane like spamming a explosion skill, shaking the screen a lot, ice stones skill, lasers coming up from the sky.. All at once..

My game is updated, already repaired the files, my video drive is updated, already tried the game with full graphics and also the most low possible, creating a lobby and entering someone's lobby, turning on/off the crossplay..

I'm one of those people who gets Unity crashes that are fixed by starting the game with my second monitor unplugged, then connecting the second monitor again when the game is open. This goes for other Unity games too, not just Risk of Rain 2.

Is there any permanent solution known for this issue instead of having to fiddle with monitors every single time I want to play a Unity game?

Game lags uncontrollably. Everything else tells me my ping is ~70ms, everything else runs smoothly but in RoR2 everything keeps warping around the entire map while I have to wait a minute for my press of E to go through and open a chest. This is getting ridiculous, please help.

For future reference: I believe I was able to fix the issue that makes you unplug and replug any extra monitors before starting the game (at least for myself).

When looking at the display settings in Windows, I could see that my main monitor was monitor 2, and my secondary monitor was monitor 1. I changed their cabling to my GPU so my main monitor was in GPU output slot 1 and is now considered monitor 1, and the issue seems to be gone.

So I've been having this bug for multiple years ever since I've had the game and I've had no way no how or any help of fixing it I do remember I've asked here before but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me my computer at the moment is a rizen 9 3070TI 32 gigs of RAM Beast I know it can handle risk of rain just fine I have stress tested it before however I've had the bug of my monitors will end up flickering black for a Split Second and either my game will be alt tabbed or not it is randomly chance and next thing you know my entire game crashes along with my Discord I have even tested it without having Discord running next thing you know my steam entirely crashes I close both and the game still just locks up this is been happening for 3 years I have no idea what is causing it and I don't even get my crash support logs I believe I've even gone over with someone who does somewhat Tech Support to help around and they couldn't even figure out why I wasn't getting my bug report logs or my crash logs I don't know who can help me I would like help but this is not the only game I've had this issue on considering in Forza the game will not crash but it will lock itself to 30 FPS and that will end up happening to all my other games until I restart my computer completely and the same happens with BeamNG Drive where it will alt tab I don't know who can help me with this but you can DM me and or maybe it could be the game I'm unsure but I fully don't know what to do And this is been through multiple iterations of my computer no part in my PC is the same from when I first started And it doesn't matter with or without mods it still does the same thing

The two steam accounts are friends, and I've confirmed that the firewall allows access on both public and private networks. So for about the last month or 2, my Risk of Rain 2 has just decided it wants to frame drop every once in awhile.
It's definitely not caused by a sudden entity increase or anything cause I could do the stage 5 tp without any lag, but just existing on stage 2 with NO enemies would trigger another fps drop.
I don't think its a hardware issue since outside of the fps drops, my game can run at 60 fps without any issues at all.
I don't think its a temperature issue cause the frame drops would last for like 30 seconds to 1 minute, and then the fps returns to normal. (I don't have a way of cooling my laptop now so I can't confirm this)
Anyone have any ideas on how to stop fps drops? I tried everything I could find on the internet i.e. reinstalling ror2, reducing settings to bare minimum, checking disc, disabling firewalls, updating drivers and what not.

My graphics and windows os is up to date and my hardware is above the requirement.

My game has been crashing a lot from what appears to be unlocking achievements. I'm not entirely sure if that's it, or if it's Steam's game overlay that's causing it, because the game sometimes crashes after playing several minutes and then pressing Shift+Tab.

I guess I can try disabling the overlay to see if that resolves the issue, but its still pretty annoying nonetheless, especially when I unlock something 30-40 minutes into a run and it crashes.

It worked, thank you so much for helping me. I think it happened because I switched the game to my monitor by making the game windowed, dragging it to my monitor and making it full screen again which had some very noticeable bugs for both of my screens. Thank you again for the help.

if you play on a laptop and have a nvidia card, you can check the nvidia pannel with a right click on the desktop, go into manage 3D settings if i remember correctly and switch the global option, since ur on a laptop you have two option "integrated graphics" and "high performances processor something", if it isn't on high perf you should switch to that

Hi there. Does anyone know why for some reason my friend (when playing Multiplayer with me) with only a couple mods (betterUI to tell us newbies what the items are and what they do etc) constantly has a game issue where he has things disappearing for him?

A single bug occuring on one of your machines that desynchronizes the experience due to some strange behavior has nothing to do with network quality, a desync can be caused by more than just the network and when you throw mods into the mix there's basically no way to anticipate what exactly is being affected when and why

Hey I have a profile with 80 hours on it and after uninstalling some mods it just does not work anymore, when I try to enter the character select screen it just goes black and sends me to the main menu, I cant create multiplayer lobbies and get in that way either,

as of now Ive tried creating a new profile, Uninstalling and Reinstalling, and verifiying steam files, Ive also tired launching it through thunderstore agian with and without mods with no luck

Hey, I'm having a really strange bug with RoR2

I re-installed the game, and now when I'm launching it, it'll get to the % load screen, freeze on 0% and then steam will Crash.

Sometimes RoR2 also crashes, but most of the time it just freezes and steam crashes.

I checked the local files, and despite reinstalling the 'Mods' folder is still there (even when I install to a different location or manually remove all related files), and afaik the mods folder isn't supposed to be a vanilla folder, so maybe the remnants of my previous modding experience has... Haunted? my game and is reinstalling itself every time I launch the game.

Any and all help is appreciated.

My problem is more than just a crash-on-startup. RoR2 is also taking steam down with it.

In addition, I've tried all the obvious troubleshooting checklist items for anyone that's even mildly experienced in tech.

I've re-installed RoR2 on ALL my Hard Drives (and SSDs), I've done the manual deletion of mod files/folders because I know that steam doesn't recognize them as game files and therefore can't delete them automatically

I've tried the compatibility fixes in .exe properties, I've tried updating my drivers, I've tried game file integrity verification.

I have tried all the obvious things you can think of before coming here.

The one thing I haven't confirmed to have done is disable Crossplay because I can't access the settings menu and crossplay isn't in the .cfg

Technically the repair tool is when you launch steam, if it detects a file is missing it'll just silently fix that

So you just fucking delete ALL the files to ensure you get the broken one, then steam fixes all the files, broken or not

Hey, can anyone help me fix this issue? I've been playing Risk of Rain 2 on Steam and have modded the game through Thunderstore Mod Manager. I only recently got the game on Tuesday the 18th, so I am relatively new to it. The problem I'm facing is that scrapers, 3D printers, and terminals are not spawning at all. The only time I saw any of them in-game was during my first ever run. Since then, none of them have spawned, even when I played multiplayer with a friend (who has also experienced a different issue we discussed here). I have also tried playing both vanilla and modded versions, and I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game on Steam, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling all my mods, but nothing seems to fix this issue. Any help would be appreciated!

For the people who got the same problem with launching risk of rain 2 that crash on launch and take Steam too with it only there's mostly a chance that's the Steamworks Redistribuables from steam that is causing it.

Two solutions :

1. Search on your Steam library (where you got all of your games and such on steam) and find "Redistribuables communs Steamworks" -> right click -> Property -> Installed files -> Verify integrality of files and restart steam or launch game again to see if it works.

2. If it didn't worked, reinstalling Steam should fix the issue.

Sorry to hear you're still having this issue. My coworker pointed me to a potential fix I wanted to share with you for your main profile.

Here is one community found fix that you might want to try, please be extra cautious with your Save if you try this:

If some or all of your controller axis aren't responding (if you can turn left and right but not move the camera up and down, for example) first, unplug all other non-keyboard non-mouse peripherals. Steam controller, fight stick, hotas, ect, all of it.

Next, create a new profile. Name it 'Fix Me' (the name isn't mandatory but it helps.) Keep your old profile. Close the game.

Go to your Steam install directory (not the RoR install directory.) You're looking for where the profiles are stored

In my case it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\ (some numbers)\632360\remote\UserProfiles
632360 is the same for everyone, that's Risk of Rain 2's ID.

You should see however many profiles you have. You're looking for the 2 you access most recently. (one will be your bugged profile, one will be the new profile you created.) Open both in Wordpad.
On your bugged profile, highlight and then delete everything between <joystickMap> and <name>'Profile Name'</name> ('Profile Name' will be whatever name you entered for your profile)
Tab to the other Word Pad. Copy everything between <joystickMap> and <name>Fix Me</name> and paste it (in the correct position) into your bugged profile.
If there are multiple instances of any of those terms, use the top-most instance for <joystickMap> and the first instance of <name>Fix Me</name> below that point.
Save changes and exit.

my keyboard and my mouse are not recognized by ROR2 but works perfectly on all other games, I have the impression that it is a conflict between my ps4 controller and my keyboard mouse (my controller works perfectly on other games ). I uninstalled the game and reinstalled, restarted my pc, created a new profile but nothing worked.

that windows is the unity crash launcher which could be happening because of a few reasons. the first i thought was that you werent opening it as an administrator, which was my solution when this happened to me. Then, it could be your CPU or GPU getting overused.

It's set to run as admin. I was playing the game 2 days ago with no issue and now it's not loading up at all. It does not produce a crash log, it doesn't do anything but open the crash launcher for 2 seconds then closes them.

The files are not corrupt, I just reinstalled the game.

No matter what I do, i cannot get the dedicated server to allow more than 4 players
Server lists 16, but after 4 everyone gets a not enough slots.

for more infos, i already played awhile ago like in 2020 and i got ror2 refunded.

I always have a corrupted file, only one

Then repair it.

and it get downloaded again

it gets repaired and then i play and it crashes while i play

unity 2019 blablabla and then the corrupted file is back

and gets repaired over and over again ^^'

Past resolutions were either starting up as an admin, or following pin 4 and 6 instructions.

Not many people are very good at reading crash reports.

i've tried sfc scannow but it just closes and does absolutely nothing :/
