Boomerang is not weak and it's pretty good
the stats on it are wrong, it does 120% for the first hit on each enemy and then rapidly ticks for 30%
and it's a large aoe/pierce with a 1.0 proc coeff on the strong hit
Are you playing command or looping a billion times
Ah
I'm sure a mod exists or can be done
war bonds just procs when any scav stands up
Yeah, but if a scav has war bonds it shouldnt proc on other scavs, no?
That was the original confusion, was the fact I didnt have war bonds
not because the scav has war bonds
or i guess both if either the player or the scav has it
i guess it should be blacklisted from enemies
What are you listening to bro
Yesterday I was playing ror2 with my friend with a couple of mods and all my white items turned into cautious slugs, is that normal? 😭
maybe i just click on every shrine i see
yeah i think so
oh okay thank you
so its useless?
it's just for the memes lol
oh alright
if you're really lucky it might decide to stack something good, but it's just random
oh so i just got really unlucky with getting cautious slugs
I mean, it could've been worse, but yeah
Armor reduction buffs DoTs right?
yeah
hi guys, i have a question. when we try to play with my friend, one of us is always lagging to the point that it’s unplayable, and we don’t know what to do (our internet is fine).
- How far away do you live from each other?
- If you're on steam, do you have crossplay enabled?
1.yea, we live far away from each other
2.idk, should it be enabled?
well, dang
Crossplay should be disabled for both of you, it's a glitchy mess and causes a lot of issues. You can check it on the first page of settings
but unfortunately if you're far away then that might be the issue, in which case there's not a whole lot you can do since ror2's multiplayer is peer2peer
damn, that’s sad. ok, thank you for the help.
np
does mods lower your fps
is there a way to see ur fps
I don't think ror2 has one built in but you can enable an fps counter in steam settings
How many of the “debuff” icons that chef can apply to enemies count toward death mark?
(Without items that let him deal more debuffs)
The crossplatform is currently on working or is not viable?, is possible that we have crossplay on the future?
The only crossplay that currently exists is between steam and the epic games store (both pc) and crossplay for console is very unlikely to ever happen
Why?
Because it would be very time consuming, hard and costly to implement which wouldnt be worth it
I mean, I've played smaller games with cross-platform
the engine just isnt built with it in mind
there are also tons and tons of small and big games without crossplay between consoles
+the initial dev team was only like 3 people, and the console ports were handled by a separate team that made a complete mess of things
old console versions my beloved
it's only been in the last year or so that the console ports have actually been in a state where crossplay would even be remotely plausible
And there are still some gameplay differences between the versions
Like the fucking trees on distant roost dont have proper collision for specifically the switch version ever since the sotv update
Why do people hate chef? I think he’s fun from my first impressions
Chef struggles with flying enemies and doesnt work well with a lot of items
Why would you ever want that
Now... I have a question, mainly bc im not in loop with the server, i have asked this b4 when hopoo still owned the game. after the whole roadmap for seekers of storm is done, are things prior to the current dlc going to be fixed, like the voidling bossfight, engie turrets sprinting so they can use wungus, and my favorite, multi scrap rocket being able to synergize with pocket icbm(ik they were grenades when they first came out, but they're rockets, they have been, but are still coded as grenades)
Gearbox does tackle some issues of the base game and sotv like softlocking in mithrix if he steals too many safer spaces or tesla coil in vields
But I doubt theyll change things to the degree youre suggesting
Also mul-t's scrap launcher rockets dont work like the other rockets
Those rockets jet out into the air and home in on enemies while the scrap launcher is just a regular projectile
They are labeled as rockets but dont work like all the other actual rockets
That is... one way to call me
Have you rebirthed before?
Never
Then do that first
I heard the seekers of storm dlc was not worth getting when it first came out due to bugs, but the first revamp phase is out. Should I buy this DLC now or wait for more patches?
It's good now. If you got the cash and don't mind the survivors being mid at best and chef at worst, then buy it
So, I heard the biggest issue was actuallt buying the dlc gave you more bugs. This isn't a problem anymore?
That wasn't ever a problem iirc
all the bugs came with the update alonside the dlc, nothing really in it
Oh ok I see
the ones in the dlc are fixed
Thanks appreciate your time bro
So i just got risk of rain 2 around 3 days ago any tips to get more survivors?
so far what i like most is trying out new kits
I'd recommend just trying to beat the game, you'll probably passively get unlocks from playing and exploring for at LEAST 50 hours
Then you can go to the logbook for exact requirements, and hunt the specifics
Character unlocks are a good goal for the first 50 i mean, but like the items don't need hunted for
oh alright thanks
I’ve killed false son twice once with the seed in the my inventory and still haven’t unlocked am I doing something wrong 🥲
did u wait until aurelionite spawns?
Yeah aure needs to spawn to unlock him when you beat him
any acrid mains here?
just tryna confirm that bile is indeed the objectively better passive in every situation
blight is definitely the funnier passive because it pisses off all the people who think poison is the only viable option and are way too angry about people using blight
blight*
but objectively better... not really, no
okay well im going to go back to being blissfully ignorant because not being able to kill with my poison hurts
So blight= rage bait
blight and poison have legitimately caused more drama in the ror2 community than anything else
I could believe that but I'm sure ion vs flame might be a contender for that honor too
nah, not even close
like, there was a whole incident surrounding blight and poison
not gonna get into it because idgaf about drama but tl;dr a youtuber made a video defending blight, another much bigger youtuber threw a massive tantrum over it, and it devolved into a huge shitshow
I mean, you can just get any other source of damage
bleed, gasoline, drones, guillotine for elites, or just hit them one extra time
true, I am just jokes aside a blight fan though
when I first tried acrid I was saying to myself "man I wish I could just stack the posion and kill with it 😔"
nah, blight is cool, I also like it more even if it is technically "worse"
I do wish they'd give it some extra mechanic besides just being flat damage tho
Poison is significantly better in 95% of situations
Blight could give a damage vulnerability like rorrs alt poison
that'd be really cool, it'd promote aggression and melee too
Alas, we simply have ror2 blight
yeah, that'd be good
like 5-10% more damage taken per stack or something
Yeah I wish it was the case
can u crossplay with console
No
he's the same as always
I believe in you, get that moon man
How do you usually die to him?
Might killed him too fast I’ll try that today
One message removed from a suspended account.
War bonds
and/or looping, he doesn't have adaptive armor so post-loop damage tends to kill him pretty fast
https://medal.tv/games/ror-2/clips/joh5Kx2stWvWuLLxT?invite=cr-MSx3RWEsNDcwNDU5OTEs
anyone know what happened here
Watch stupid game and millions of other Risk of Rain 2 videos captured using Medal.
was halcyonite listed as your cause of death? It's got a bug where its hitboxes linger even after it's been killed or stunned iirc, so it was probably that
Specifically the spin likes to stay, I've learned from experience, which it looks like it started before dying
Probably that, idk what killed me cause I had a revive
yeah, if you pause you can see the visual effect of the spin attack, you die right as soon as you touch it
as mentioned, basically yea the hitbox is a little fucked
but it can get anim canceled and doesnt go away
I KILLED him too fast again 🥲🥲🥲
try literally just not shooting fs until aure spawns lol
Yall does chef still suck
I had my fireworks kill hin by accident does he only spawn on 3rd stage
yeh
character update isn't gonna happen for a while yet
What’s better for arcid?
Poison or blight?
generally poison
blight only does base damage, it can be stronger early on and against soft targets, but poison doing %hp damage will always scale better in the long run
Depends on what you're trying to do
If you want something that's better in the game, use poison
If you want to annoy people online, use blight
I'm trying to completely finish the game including the entire logbook and completing every single challenge. The last two things I have To get the log book entry for The lunar chimera And the logbook entry for the voidling is there like specific runs with like specific aspects I can run to? Like maximize my chance of getting these log books
I know I could probably get the lunar chimera one by going AFK on the moon with Engineers turrets but you can only kill the voidling once Per run And I've killed him way too many times and I still haven't gotten it
with voidling you just have to get lucky
literally and figuratively,
affects logbook drops so stack as many as you can
you can also run swarms to get two voidlings
unlucky
Swarms and command is the best way to get it on looping
there really isn't any other strat besides that, yeah
I know I could like maybe do artifact of kin until I get the lunar chimera to be the one enemy type
But like I'm pretty sure they're not available for that artifact
I don't think kin works yeah
It's just that like I don't want to put like 5 hours of AFK into the lunar map just for the log book to fall off the map
I think lunar enemies hermit crabs and sots enemies are exempt
I really want to get these logbook entries because if I get them I'll 100% the game completely Not just 100% complete the challenges
Hermit crabs aren’t exempt from kin, but they are from dissonance
Oh shit lol wrong artifact
dissonance does allow lunar chimeras I think, but getting them is still gonna be a pain
I know lunar chimeras can spawn in the similacrim During rare events, but it's nowhere near enough I'm pretty sure
Wait I have an idea
trying to actually get a specific enemy with dissonance and/or kin is surprisingly challenging
If I load into two-player and also have the artifact of swarms on, does that mean four times more enemies will spawn
yeah, it's not worth gambling on kin/dissonance
no
it’s just 2x not 2x per player
well you'd get slightly more spawns due to increased multiplayer scaling
Yeah but there will also be more enemies because they'll be two people
Does multiplayer spawn in more enemies? I thought it did
nah, difficulty just scales faster
Damn
which does indirectly result in more enemies, but it could also mean getting more elites or whatever
the director just has more credits to spend
Does an enemy being an elite increase the chance of it dropping the logbook?
nope
Damn
Okay I guess later I'll just do a run where I go AFK on the moon for like 5 hours
It could decrease it if anything lol
it probably won't take nearly that long with some clovers honestly
What happens if the logbook falls off the map
And can there be more than one logbook for the same creature spawned in?
If you don't have a mod it just despawns
if the players are spread out it’s very likely to cause there to be less spawns around each player
total it’ll be about the same but around each player it can definitely be less
just farm them in an area with a good amount of floor, like the area with the blood shrines
I meant on elites because I don't think enemies are able to drop multiple items? At least I've never seen that happen
You get the voiding log book by Killing him right
yeah
ohhh I thought you were still talking about mp spawns lol
Wait it can spawn each time He teleports away?
I believe? I got mithrix on phase 3 (pizza phase)
yeah
iirc I got voidlings log on phase 2 so yeah, pretty sure each phase can drop it
So yeah swarm plus commanding clovers would be the max chance
Okay I looked it up apparently if I have a hundred 57 leaf clovers it has A 80% chance of spawning
That's not that hard if I give shipment requests to a bunch of lumerians
I didn't even think of devotion
Does devotion swarm give 2 lems per like it does for cores zoea and guards
I could test real fast
I'm guessing not, because how would that work with the item "ownership" thing
The more teleporters that are active on the moon, the more enemies that spawn right
Or I meant pillars
Mithrix phase 2 spawns enemies forever right or only on level up (zenith design)
I actually don't know
but trying to farm during the mithrix fight isn't gonna make it any easier
Just tested it it doesn't
I could send the clip of me testing it if you want
probably?
wouldn't hurt to try it
I think mass spawns the most
I am stuck in a crevice in prime meridian, been stuck for like 10 minutes, this is a 2 hour run, stage 19, whole point of run was to get this skin that I'm about to, is there no like debug or console or command I can use to get out??? really fucking annoying if I've wasted 2 hours for nothing
I GOT HIM
got rid of my ghor's tome so idk what's causing it but sometimes late in runs I'll kill some enemies and they'll drop like a million gold on the ground and my game will basically crash so idk what's happening
did you have the gold aspect?
Or wake of vultures
does Luminous Shot still grant the xp boost when killing monsters with it?
According to the wiki it does yeah, hard to really tell tho
Fadeshock will love hearing about that one
If it’s possible can someone give me a in depth guide on how void fiend works? Thanks

He's not actually as complicated as he seems
Over time he gains corruption. Healing removes corruption equal to the % of health stored, and taking damage adds corruption similarly. Getting a crit also adds 2% corruption
In corrupt form you lose corruption over time but the rest still applies. You also gain 100 armor while corrupt
Every void item you have increases your minimum corruption by 2%
The basic strat with him is to avoid healing items that are hard to control like medkit and wungus, he's got a strong built-in heal so you can mostly focus on speed and damage anyway.
Use your special to manage corruption, ideally you hover around 75% so that you can quickly heal or go corrupt when needed
Alright thank you, i can understand it way better now
Its good to remember that you are tankier, higher dps and more mobile in corrupt mode, so you should try to maximise your time in it whilst simultaneously saving it for situations you think you'll need it
Its a fun balancing act basically
you sure about that? 🤔
or am I missing something
correct, it's a clip of risk of rain 2 gameplay
Expose transfer only works because you are physically moving the hitbox of the third swing into the enemies
so anything that doesn't move you near an enemy cannot expose transfer
this isn't about the expose transfer
and even if did the transfer it wouldn't work on luminous
in order for luminous to apply expose it would have to inherit damage types like behemoth does, but it doesn't
I don't see how else it would theoretically apply expose, but it couldn't in the first place anyway so it doesn't matter
it could apply it if it inherited damage types, because exposing is a damage type
that's why behemoth can apply extra stacks of expose
and the expose transfer wouldn't matter since it doesn't actually "transfer" expose to a different attack, it just prevents the sword hitbox from being cancelled by using another ability. The name is a little bit of a misnomer lol
guys, i got a problem. My artificer`s flight is toggled and i don't like it. I have to tap once for flight to start and tap again for it to stop, but it's easier for me to hold. How do i change it?
settings
there's a setting for it
i can't find it
it's on the first page
towards the bottom
it might be under that umbrella settings thing, I can't remember
look for artificer hover
thx
@lavish jacinth hey remember how I've been trying to fix clothing physics bugging out? Yeah so I figured out what it was. It's a problem with the dynamic bones, but I don't know a permanant fix for it. All I can do is temporarily fix it for the stage I'm on using UnityExplorer.
stupid bones haver
have you made a bug report for it yet? Knowing the specific thing that's broken and what fixes it would be pretty useful info for the devs.
still odd that it seems like an issue only on your end though, I'm still betting that it's something to do with unity not agreeing with your hardware
Something about the refresh rate being set to 60 making things bug out? Setting it to 30 is what fixed it. But yeah, I probably should fill out a bug report.
If I had the money I'd try to find someone I could commission to make a mod to fix this. Unfortunately I don't have any modding knowledge myself, so I can't go into the files and edit it.
I mean, you could just go to the modding discord and ask, there's a link to it pinned in #ror2-modding
Yeah ok, thanks!

does anyone know how to get past this when trying to join a lobby? i found cases online but no one posted a solution
does someone know how to fix loading screen freeze on 1.2 pls, its stuck at 55%
verify game files
embeds don't work unless you have a role #roles , but I'm guessing it looks like this?
yep, but without the GUI
Is there a fix that doesnt involve epic games? I had to install epic games just to get it working >.>
Never needed that since i got the game
EGS shouldn't be required
I know, thats why I'm looking for a fix for this that doesnt involve EGS
try these #ror2-tech-support message
I had this problem but it was because I changed "skip intro cinimatic" in the config file to true. That setting in the config causes issues. You either need to get the mod to fix it or turn the intro cinimatic back on.
Questions on a seekers item || is long standing solitude supposed to give you a free purchase every level? Cause it seems to be doing it only every few levels. I went from 16 to 17 without getting a free purchase I got one on 18 then didn't get one on 19||
||and i just didn't get oen for level 20 either||
it's supposed to, but I think it's just kinda glitchy
|| i feel like it could be a neat item if it was working right and glitvhing but rn it seems not great im getting signifiantly less items then i wouold be getting||
I mean, the fact that it basically guarantees hitting max level is still really damn strong lol. But yeah they need to fix the jank
also you don't need to spoiler it, it's not a secret
Ahh ok I wasnr sure since it was a dlc item
wait, if damaging wisps stuns them, then does poison render them unable to attack for the duration of the effect?
does acrid completely neuter wisps 😭😭
pretty much
beautiful
Can I cause elemental effect(fire, ice, ect) without having to use Gasoline, Artificer? Is there anything that just add on elemental dmg on top of my regular dmg?
nothing that's convenient
Blazing aspect would be what you want, either temporarily from
or getting the 1/4000 drop from a blazing elite
are the only other things that work with ignition tank (I assume that's why you're asking)
technically
too, but it also increases the self-damage so you probably don't want that
would be the best one to actually try to get, unless you really wanna farm blazing elites
happy 2025, can somebody explain the new twisted mechanics?
wiki sums it up pretty well
that explains me seeing blue enemies
Ok, thank you, i try this tomorow
Are the prayer beads themselves leveling up, and not caring about my level at all?
I always thought they would scale worse because they'd level up with me but eventually noticed that's not really the case
Their levels are treated differently than yours, yes
@ionic igloo experience is exponential. At higher levels, they'll gain levels faster themselves
or
and
on like AWU or something
AWU?
What are good perks for mercenary?
Is it a bug that halcyon shrines can't spawn on non-sots stages besides the set of first stages?
assuming you mean items, there isn't much that's super specific to merc, you can more or less treat him like a proc character.
is obviously good,
has a really strong unique synergy that lets him apply two stacks of expose at a time (the debuff icon doesn't show stacks but you can hit them twice before the expose goes away).
Attack speed is arguably bad depending on your playstyle, it actually has some negative interactions with his skills (his secondary doesn't travel as far, hitboxes don't last as long, and it's harder to do the expose tech with his primary). But if you don't care about tech and just wanna go nuts with the sword then it's fine
Speed, healing items and defense items are good as always ofc
They can spawn on other stages, they're just weirdly rare after stage 1 and have a small pool of possible environments
Is there any Indicator that tells me how many ive pushed ive tried to do it in multipile Runs even in Similcarium but i dont really know if ive got any, can i find like maybe a indicator in the Files or anything
yeah they'll fix it eventually
it should tell you in game i think
the challenges section in the logbook
not like exactly just a bar
Thx
imma check there
God damn im close
oh gods im jelly! im so low
I was just weirded out bc other steam games just tell you with a little Pop Up in the Down Right Corner like 1/20 or smth
The only games I know that do that are valve games
Is it a bug that they cannot spawn on the other stages?
I didn't think it was but based on what Wolfo said I might be wrong lol
Whats the trick to beating the elemental enemies? Just get more dps?
just attack them more lol
there's no trick to them, they just have more health (among other buffs)
nifty
Does leech do one tick per hit or does it base on your damage output?
It's really bait, like as a new player without actually knowing how it works you think it'll be some awesome item heals % of damage or something but nope it's literally useless past stage 1
if you want on-hit healing, get
+
Or if you wanna do something impractical

day whatever of petitioning to add LeechingSeedBuff to vanilla
Leeching seed is basically just insta scrap unless I’m commando or mul t power mode nailgun
Even then the healing is negligible, it is a really bad item
hi guys. I'm playing ror2 with a xbox one controller, and the right stick (wich controls the camera) isn't working. The controller works fine in order games. I tried a lot of solutions that i found on internet, but they seems to not work any more. Does anyone know what to do?
on prime miridian there is lighting, and it aplies some wierd effect, what does it do?
it debufs your movemnt speed and healing by 20%, ouch
can you get the sots stages without doing the path of the colossus thing?
if you mean the halcyon shrine then yes, you can use the lunar seers in the bazaar to get to em
you can also get to them from gilded coast if you go there from a stage 1 or 2
This is outdated I believe. Let me find the current effect, because I know they got rid of the speed loss with the item reworks
Took a bit, had to do it on mobile lol
I finally got the lunar chimera entry. I just need the Void voiding one now
What do I have to do to get the alternate skins for a character because I just beat the game twice with beginner and I didn’t get anything
The first alt skins you have to beat the game or obliterate on
, so go for final boss or the stage 8 celestial portal specifically on Monsoon difficulty
The second ones are from beating False Son on any difficulty iirc, it doesn't mention a difficulty on those ones.
Hi i just got this game. Its loads of fun. I was curious as to what artifacts are
They're little things to change the game on your runs, so like activating
lets you choose your items. They can be unlocked from ||the hidden portal on stage 5, by entering codes. Codes are found on like all vanilla maps, or on a little cheat sheet if you don't want to look for them||
||The portal uses like a 3x3 combination lock basically||
Oh cool! I beat the game on the moon i think it was. It was tough though
This is kind of a niche thing that only really comes up in modded, but I’m curious
Let’s say I have two sources of ignite damage from two items. (Let’s say gas at 175% and Molten coin from SS2 at 100%) I proc molten coin which gives one stack of ignite damage for 100%. I then kill an enemy next to that enemy to initiate another stack of ignite damage at gas’ 175%
What happens? Does it just do the 100% + 175% for 275%? Does it count the stacks as Gas’ ignite and do 175% x2? And what happens if I add another stack either through coin or gas? How does the game handle stacks of debuffs when the debuffs apply at 2 different damage values?
I've also been kinda curious about this so I'm gonna go ahead and try to test it
I will go ahead and say that stacking gas doesn't actually increase the damage per tick, it just increases how long the status effect is applied for
Does bleed act any differently while I’m at it?
Ik there’s an item in like toomanyitems that applies bleed with less damage or smth
Idk about that since it's modded, but ik that base game bleed all deals the same damage but doesn't necessarily last for the same amount of time, and the old stacks do get overwritten by the new ones
So if you have one stack of bleed that would usually last ten seconds, and you apply a second that only lasts five, both stacks will disappear after five seconds
Ik burn doesn't do the same tho bc it's duration isn't refreshed when stacking
Each stack tracks its damage individually iirc
Also not entirely true, bleed duration only refreshes upwards
So bleed won't get screwed over by having a low-coeff proc like plasma shrimp or something
Oh cuz duration is based on proc coefficient for bleed, right
Yeah
I was wondering if there was some weird item interaction where like transmitter applies bleed at a low duration and could screw you over or smth
But since it applies upwards and based on proc that wouldn’t happen
Actually I don't know if transmitter has a proc coefficient
Well it’s not even like a “hit” right? So it just autosets an additional stack of bleed when it does its teleport?
Yeah, you don't strictly need a coeff to apply a status effect, but if an attack does have one then it'll affect duration
Funky!
This game has such peculiar programming I love getting into the weeds of it with these interactions
From what I'm seeing yeah this seems right
Gasoline works like that, it has 0 coeff but forces a stack of burn to be added anyway. I imagine transmitter is the same but sots items are weird lol
Anyone else have lemurians killed amount as 0?
Ah but then would an item like molten coin (which functions based off a proc) be effected by proc coefficient working off duration or is that a bleed thing and not a burn thing?
Average profile stat behavior
Every other stat is fine
Yeah, I'm guessing it's the glitch I've seen people talking about where it's using devotion lemurians instead of regular ones
Oh yeah the lumerian’s outline in my logbook is blue for some reason but I just assumed it was modded fuckery
I'm assuming that's already been reported?
(It probably is modded fuckery but it could be happening here)
It's an (almost) every status effect thing, not just bleed and burn
Not sure about molten coin since it's modded but I assume they'd make it work the same way
Is it for devotion lems, maybe?
Yep, just tested, it's devotion lemurians
Gotcha, thanks for the help y’all 👍
If you do a chaos + devotion run and kill one of your own lemurians it'll show up as killed in the logbook
That’s really funny actually
Tharson is OK
nuh uh
how is everyone doing
this question asked prolly 5 times a day but is the game actually playable
im tryin to play it w my partner but i heard its fallen from grace or smth
Yeah it was in a pretty bad state immediately after the dlc launched but it's fine now
so you'd say its good enough to try playing together now
yes
fiya
Definitely yeah
Ok, on Rallypoint Delta, there's a Crowbar 3D printer, and I'm playing as Mult, and I have items I want to use in a scrapper, but I can't find it. Is a scrapper guarenteed to appear on this map, because it's there in the Wiki, but I don't know if it's guarenteed to be there.
Scrapper's aren't ever guaranteed
anyone know how to fix sfx being so quiet?
What's the best items for sniper?
Unless you count the 50/50 scrapper spawn on Verdant Falls

Idk why I put universally good items on there MB but those should be top priorities, if you're using default special
is a priority too @devout panther
Well those are universally good
Like besides seeker and self damage rex I can't think of anything spaces isnt the best on, and on those 2 spaces is just less good
Fair, although with the amount of scoping railgunner does, I reckon it'll help newer players even more on her than on most characters
i always thought they should be
the heart of ror2 is the item minmaxing and build optimization imo. guaranteed scrappers would make a lot of sense from this perspective
I always hate the runs where I don't get any scrappers I feel so much less in control and you're way more prone to being screwed
can be super nice too having another band proc on command on such a low cd is so nice
Bonus points if you have other stuff that works with it too like

And unstable transmitter
Oh yeah definitely I forgot to mention equipment
With
>
as well
God an ATG proc off of a special and then blast shower letting both of those hits proc bands that sounds so cracked that's disgusting
Railgunner is one of the few characters where
can sometimes be better than
since her specials both have a proc co higher than 1.0
I think I prefer atg on Loader too just because she doesn't attack a lot at all and when she does its a lot of dmg
Atg also has the advantage of being able to change targets if the original one dies while shrimp missiles just fizzle out, which is good if you tend to one-shot things
On the other hand, loader can conceivably kill a boss without proccing an atg even once so the guaranteed shrimp proc might end up being more useful
The shrimp/atg matchup is always weird because they perfectly counter eachothers strengths and weaknesses lol
ima put this simple
big hits = atg, fast small hits = shrimp
Tbh you should probably just take shrimp if you find it, unless you're Rex or have a clover
It's one extra damage item and 2 shrimp definitely beats 1 atg
Mathematically Plimp almost always outdamages ATG, whether its big hits or small hits, UNLESS the attack has more than 1.0 proc chance
Plimp performs better the more hits, as it procs more missiles which each have 0.2 proc coefficient, so more things will be procced, and when comparing ATG and plimp, plimp will win in 99% of situations
Blast shower builds utilise ATG in a unique way to proc bands, so they are an exception to that
And self damage rex also sees better use from ATG than plimp as he damages the shield of plimp
I assume you have a spreadsheet to back this up?
ATG increases your damage by an average of 30%, whilst plimp increases it by 40%
So if your proc coefficient is 1.0 plimp wins
If your proc coefficient is 3.0, like railgunners supercharge, ATG increases the damage by an average of 100%
So in this instance ATG wins
If your proc coefficient is lower than 1 then plimp will win even more
EG Nailgun MulT, Rex m1, Captain m1, etc
Additionally, each hit = 3 missiles with 0.2 proc coefficient
So if I deal 1 hit of 1000 damage and it procs ATG, it will deal 3000 damage and hit with a 1 × 1.0 proc coefficient
If I hit 10 times and deal 1000 damage total, that will proc an average of 1 ATG dealing the same damage and 1 × 1.0 proc as before
If I hit 10 times and deal 1000 total damage with plimp, it will deal 4000 damage and hit with 30 × 0.2 proc coefficient, or ~6.0, if you wanna think about it like that
Dunno abt the whole “more damage overral” part (im still not buying that), I drew that conclusion I made earlier bc if atg procs from smth like Loader Utility punches or Railgunner shots, it hits like a truck
While obviously any character that fires fast like Mando would benefit more from shrimp, so you rly don’t have to explain that to me
The more damage overall is just a fact
Plimp does 40% total damage, atg does 10% × 300% for 30% average
So plimp does more in the vast majority of situations, when looking at raw damage numbers, and also procs more stuff
Like, if we have 2 categories, "fast" hitting and "slow" hitting characters, I'd put it as:
Fast ATG = 5
Slow ATG = 4
Fast Plimp = 8
Slow Plimp = 6
With higher number = more power
Shrimp proc coef is 0.1 iirc right?
It might be, I'm pretty sure its 0.2 but that might be me mixing it up with Plute
either way, thats still more average procs
Okay 0.2, oke
the reminder
Off topic but I hope GBX buffed the alt laser
They will do, its terrible atm
What the fuck
the reminder
Ok so thats insane
yknow whats also insane
WHAT are those puny ass effects when its hitbox is THAT bit
reality is often disappointing
They stole the hitbox from that and gave it to the charge 😭
Hitbox dissonance is real
gbx better get this characters shit together
It feels so disjointed
And god the animation quality is so lacking
Flings his club around like its a fucking noodle that hes trying to swing with a broken arm
It is funny when you have a bunch of attack speed and his baseball bat goes brrrr
Yeah he goes crazy with that limp thing 😭
I find it very interesting that the uncharged club is practically a copy/paste of loaders primary, and loader m1 ALSO had screwed-up vfx when sots launched
Thats interesting, I never thought about that
I always wondered how exactly they screwed up the vfx on that
Also, we know that a lot of copy/pasting happened in the dlc, as evidenced by the current vagrant orb bug being caused by the scorch wurms orbs being copy/pasted vagrant orbs
That explains why vagrant orbs cannot be destroyed on pre-patch SoTS
Yeah, once a scorch wurm fires its projectile, it makes all vagrant orbs in the run indestructible
Suspiciously gup-shaped hitbox
does super massive leech work with turrets spawned by the engineer?
They can't use equipment if that's what you're wondering
and damage they deal won't heal you
oh I see
I feel a bit stupid but yeah that's what I wanted to know
sorry for the late reply by the way
what does the skill check thing on railgunner do?
Ain't no way this much of the dlc is just reused code 😭
after using the mb2
Let's you use the scope faster aswell as increase the damage of your next scope in hit (I forgor by how much)
gotcha thank you
Does anybody have like pictures for all of the completed environmental logs so I can figure out which ones I'm missing
I can't find a guide that just names all of them in the same order that they appear in the logbook
Why do i sometimes have my cooldowns halved as seeker?
I took a break for a few years is the game still receiving updates and dlc
Yeah
Did you pick up
?
That halves cooldown and attack speed
No
Like the thin horizontal white bar that shows how far the cooldown has left starts halfway, and it only happened sometimes. Couldn’t get it to happen at commencement
Whats the run context? Is it right from the start, and is it consistent?
Any
?
any screenshots or anything?
I know the cooldown starts at wherever it was when you pick up the pack next time
Mods?
will make the cooldown resume where it was if you pick it up mid-cooldown, iirc so it could be that yeah
Vanilla
This is probably it then. Was this a recent change?
Does playing with mods hide the multiplayer lobbies or is just nobody on PC?
How does hacking beacon + credit card + multishop terminal work? Do you get all 3 items or 1?
Nvm, it works, you get all 3!
I've watched a couple videos on Arti and which loadout/items are best for her, but every source conflicts with others. Could someone explain to me the differences in crayon eating terms? Ex. When would flamethrower be better than ion surge, etc, etc.
Hacking beacon works as if you just bought it yourself, so it works with credit card and also sale star
So you can just smack it down on the legendary chest and it'll use the sale star on it
it could be because you have crossplay enabled, try turning it off
when it's turned on you can only join other crossplay lobbies, and nobody uses it because it's a glitchy mess
it's literally whichever you want. both are useable and totally fine to beat the game with. ion surge if you want movement, flamethrower for making all your item effects pop off
people have preferences but both are fine enough that one isn't distinctly 'better'
What about the primary and secondary?
Her primaries are pretty equal on their own, flame bolt has higher raw damage but plasma is good aoe. But the fact that
exists kinda makes flame a little bit better by default
secondary depends on which special you're running
if you're using surge, you'll definitely want bomb, it's pretty hard to utilize spear's pierce when you're above everything
for flamethrower it can go either way, the extra freeze makes it safer to approach but bomb still has the advantage of raw damage, plus aoe is generally a little better than piercing in this game imo. Enemies clump up a lot but they're not always in a straight line
items also depend on your special, ion surge lets you ignore most threats so you can invest much more into damage than you otherwise might.
She has a very solid band proc so burst items (
) and reliable multipliers like
are great, but total damage procs are as strong as always (even moreso with flamethrower)
with flamethrower it's mostly the same but you'll wanna go for more mobility and healing, but you do have a little more damage in your base kit to make up for it. Attack speed is also fairly good now that it affects her primary cooldown
Thanks for the info
what portal do I take to go back to trying to kill false son
greenn im rpetty sure DONT DO IT before anyone else says green
Green
Me and my cousin were playing split-screen multiplayer and his controller died. When we got new batteries it didn’t let him rejoin so he couldn’t move. I closed the game from the xbox menu and when we reloaded the game the 2 new characters I unlocked were gone. I quit the game again and restarted the console and still nothing. Anyone know how to get my new characters back. I was going to try uninstalling and reinstalling soon.
Any tips for bandit?
Backstab as much as possible as its really strong, utilise the invisibility + stun on the shift to get behind enemies easily, and try to stack hemorrhage (backstab an enemy with m2) whenever you can as it does pretty high damage
Also how do I unlock artifacts
underneath sky meadow and at the top of helminth hatchery, there's a big machine that lets you input codes into a 3x3 grid thing, which takes you to a trial where you can unlock artifacts
each artifact has a corresponding code, there's one sitting next to the machine as an example and the rest are hidden throughout the game, usually on similar stone tablets
You can either go hunt for the artifact codes hidden around the game or
Look it up lol
the wiki page also has all of the codes if you don't feel like looking for them, and a hint guide if you wanna find them yourself and need help https://riskofrain2.wiki.gg/wiki/Artifacts
Artifacts are game modifiers that may drastically alter some aspect of gameplay. Most Artifact codes can be found engraved on rectangular stone tablets scattered through the game (generally hidden), which must be inputted in a special event to unlock the corresponding Artifact. Once an Artifact is unlocked, the player can enable it at the start ...
In multiplayer do you share XP?
Ok
So I’m a bandit main and I’m trying to figure out what the best build for him is. The only artifact I have is command, what should I pick up in each rarity for him?
You want to make use of his backstab passive so speed items like goat hooves, energy drinks, etc. helps to do that
Basically just build him exactly like you would build Mando, with on hit effects and attack speeds (makes him reload his gun quicker)
Also both his Specials can proc bands
And since Bandit has 100% crit from Backstab feel free to pick up Lost Seer
I’m a new player so I don’t know what any of that means
I don’t know who mando is
Unless you mean commando
Commando, obviously
Tbf I was half-expecting you to know most of the items if you were to ask for builds
probably stupid question but i’m a very new player and i’m struggling getting past the third map. is there anything i should learn about the game before going at it again?
How much time did it take you to get to stage 3?
about 12-16 mins. by the time i get there the difficulty ticks to hard
That's very fast, and how much items did you get?
kinda varies. either i get nothing super useful or im stack with a good handful. i hardly know what anything does off the top of my head
Yeah I have to do a safe assumption that you did not get enough damage, or speed, or both to advance any further
I would suggest you take your time to loot more on a stage, but not too long
Depends how much loot is on the stage (if you see a lot of printers, shrines, drones, you are definitely not going to get more chests) and the stage size respectively
i really don’t. i can only remember twice when i got an attack speed upgrade ande nothing else. aside from taking my time, is there anything else that would help like some sort of mechanic i don’t know about?
i have about two hours of experience
Well I would suggest you try to learn and memorize the stage layout so next time you can plan your looting route more efficiently
aight ty
It's a learning process, so eventually you develop your own pace that suits you the most
and i’ll just end up unlocking things the further i get right
can you play seekers of the storm with a friend who doesnt have the dlc?
As long as one person has the dlc, I do believe everyone gets access to it
Yeah, everyone in the lobby can play with anything anyone in the lobby has unlocked, including expansions, items, and artifacts
The only difference will be players who don't have the expansions can't use the dlc characters
I’m very new and only have 2 characters. I’m guessing I have to buy dlc to get other characters???
Or do they unlock over time?
Played with randoms yesterday and found one guy op due to him having a jet pack and some crazy blue orb stuff
Enlighten me peoples
I played on steam deck and could not type in chat to ask. When I say new I’ve played about 3hrs so far
5 characters are from dlc, those being
and
for the Survivors of the Void dlc (
) and
and
from the Seekers of the Storm dlc.
All remaining characters are unlocked by quests in the base game, like
which is unlocked by completing 30 stages
Engineer is unlocked by completing 30 stages
which is unlocked by buying 40 drones
you got it mixed up with 1/Returns Engi
AI overview
use the wiki aaaaaaaa
I am posting it because I found it funny also rndthursday is a source which is even funnier
AI overview once told me that 5/16 is larger than 3/8
Is there anyway to lock chef back or let someone else unlock chef when Im host and I've already unlocked him? Mod or command or modyfiing save file? Im fine with locking him back for myself
I just thought the unlock was tied to whover completes the recipe?
jesus christ
Wait, so it's fully personal? I might be a dumbass then
Is there a simple way to unlock the backup mag? Or is purely just you pray you don’t get hit during a teleporter event? Like is there a certain character who can do that better than the rest?
you can do it in a prismatic trial, in trials the tp charges instantly once the boss is dead. Just oneshot the boss as railgunner or something and then leave
or you can use artifact of glass or a few stacks of
, you'll oneshot most enemies and the downside doesn't matter if you can't get hit anyway
or just play until you accidentally get it without even trying lol
Google says to defeat the False Son with a halcyon seed in your inventory to unlock the character. I did that and I didn't unlock the character.
Just one question then, what is a prismatic trial, I started yesterday.
you probably killed him too quickly, you have to wait until aurelionite actually spawns
it's an alternate game mode
No. Aurelionite spawned. Killed him faster than the false son.
you should've gotten it then
I did have double enemies on. Would that potentially cause issue?
maybe? I know that unlock in particular is kinda janky for some reason
unfortunately I don't know what specifically causes it to break other than not letting aurelionite spawn, some people have had to do it multiple times before it randomly decides to work
I had the healing skull (the item that spawns skulls when healing) then had my turrets with mushrooms. Killed the boss pretty much as soon as it spawned but aurelionite spawned right on top of my turrets and died nearly immediately.
I got the one boss that’s multiple enemies, horde of many.
ig just try to let them both live for a bit before you start fighting, make sure they both get all their spawn animations and stuff out of the way
it'll still work if you can kill them without taking a hit, or you can try it on the next stage
I got one shot by them.
well then uh
try not to do that I guess
prismatic trials are the same seed every time so you can try again and it'll be exactly the same
or you can wait for a new seed, they change every 3 days
dodging also just takes some practice, don't get discouraged if you don't get it right away
Is there any negative side effect to corrupted items? Like if the MK 1. Missile gets corrupted?
Plasma Shrimp might be worse than ATG under circumstances
What if I stacked six of them
With the upgrade that increases missile damage and gives two extra missiles
Doesn't really make it better if you're REX or have a clover or smth
Oh
All the voids have some trade off but are also generally better
there isn't a direct downside like lunar items though
you're just trading one effect for another, whether it's better or worse is situational (although a lot of voids tend to be better on average)
the tricky thing about voids that I think people tend to miss when discussing their balance is that having more copies of An Item just tends to be better than One Less Of A Similar Item in the vast majority of cases
like, if you have a tri-tip dagger and you come across a needletick, you're not choosing between dagger and needletick; you're choosing between one dagger and two needleticks. the latter is superior in basically all cases
well, not necessarily with needletick and tritip
but atg and shrimp are a good example, 2 shrimps pretty much always beats 1 atg
they should make false son a way to end your run in eclipse too cause this smells
Maybe if they can polish up the false son fight to the level of mithrix, but rn that'd be pretty a annoying way to end a run
if you get good item rng false son would make the run like 20 minutes long lol
Also, ending a run at prime meridian isn't exactly the same as at commencement, since its less stages
If false son was a mithrix equivalent then I'd agree itd be cool, but he isn't, he's just a boss before mithrix
Is there any easier way to get 20 stacks of Hemorrhage? Because the most I’ve gotten is ten and I keep getting killed because I have to be on top of enemies. I’ve been using backup mag but it’s still hard.
But you're also considering the future of the run tho
Like if you find a void band stage 1 with no bands, obviously 1 void band is better than 0 regular bands, but that doesn't mean you should take it
Stage 4 Siren's, stand on top of AwU. It will rotate, but since you're on top, you will go with it.
That, and AwU has an absurd amount of health
Also, picking up a void item removes the ability to scrap any of the normal item you pick up, so it can be a detriment
on the newt is how I got it
I haven’t beat mithrix.
purity is the lame way
Sometimes the extra damage from a needletick on loader is not worth losing out on scrapping tri tips, but that's big game macro stuff
but yeah it probably works best
Is there a reason when I’m doing it on top of something I’m like jumping up? Even though I’m not pressing the jump button?
Personally I just went command + a bunch of backup mags + an ocular HUD and then spammed them all at the boss
Awu can't see you on top
If in the air, you do a little hop
Well it tries to look up, but just like us, can't look all the way i believe
So wouldn’t it do it if I’m floating on top of the AWU?
You're technically "standing" on it, so probably not
AwU is the only enemy i've gotten 2500 stacks of bleed on anyway, it has enough health for a few mistakes to be made
You can always go for Uke or meat hook too, to kill things around AwU while you use m2, to avoid dying
hemorrhage also lasts 15 seconds and refreshes each time a new stack is added, so you get plenty of time to get back onto it if you fall off
Aurelionite also works if you happen to get a gold shrine, that's how I did it. There's not as much wiggle room with its health as there is with AWU though
What are some good basic items for artificer?
Artificer is considered a "burst" character, and excels with general/burst damage
For example,
can be quite strong, along with static damage increases like
or
is like her "signature" because of her primary, which inflicts fire.
Crowbars and backup mags are helpful white items to have, and defensive items like
,
,
,
and
are really underrated on her imo
Some tips can also be found on the wiki
https://riskofrain2.wiki.gg/wiki/Artificer#Tips
Artificer is a playable character in Risk of Rain 2.
Wielding a diverse armament of destructive skills, Artificer's strength lies in her devastating offense that can break through even the bulkiest of enemies, aided by the versatile Snapfreeze. However, her power comes at the cost of survivability, as she has no defensive or movement skills asid...
Also, her alt special is incredible and character changing
I like the fireball m1 and ion surge. Then just rain fire from the sky box with
Its a battle that was won loooong ago
Both abilities have their positives and negatives, where both are good.
Flamethrower benefits good on proc and with ignition, while ion helps with movement and avoiding damage, along with improving ion bomb.
Flamethrower is in the bottom level of abilities in this game, I'm sorry
Its a poorly balanced ability that was made extremely early in the games development and never buffed or changed outside of minor tweaks
I love arti but I don't know how people can use flamethrower
Akin to arrow rain, bubble shield, and the like
Its just... objectively bad, unfortunately, and I wish it was better than it is
If you want actual comparisons, the tips on the wiki also include that
Most of the arguments here don't use evidence or anything
Do not take the wiki at face value, trust me
It has some ABSURDLY misinformed takes
Its a laughing stock for most of the community
depends on the wiki
the fandom i have seen some things on, but i havent seen anything bad when i moved to gg
most people just tell you to move to gg for that reason
finally listened and it's been smooth so far, only out of date is I believe a minor inconsistency with BrotherBlacklist
it's like a lot of game wikis, it's generally accurate for anything objective, like item stats or game mechanics or whatever. But anything more opinion-based should be taken with a grain of salt
Yeah, but the "tips" parts normally don't say "this is better," which is what I like. It just says "this gives you this advantage, while this does this other thing. Compare them yourself and experiment with what works"
I wish it didn't take such a "both sides" opinion on matters where there is an objective "better option"
because ror2 isn't a game where playing the "better option" actually matters lmao
Genuinely
it's not a competitive game
Anyways, this isn't really the place for another stereotypical argument.
Yes but in the wiki it should tell you what is better or worse
"don't make me tap the sticker"
Thats part of the reason for a wiki
ideally the wiki should tell you how to use everything optimally, regardless of whether it's the better option or not
I'm not saying people shouldn't use certain skills, but new players shouldn't be told "blight vs poison is up to opinion" when its been proven that poison outperforms blight in 99% of situations
The wiki does not mention that at all
Instead it takes a "both sides" opinion once again
I don't think it should tell you what you should use at all
Exactly, but it should tell you what is stronger
I mean, they both work
it's a pve game at the end of the day, where you can literally win with anything
Thats what its for. All of the testing and number crunching for blight vs poison was done to ascertain which is better, and it has a concrete conclusion! Yet the wiki completely ignores all of the hours of testing instead
They both work, thats fine, but thats not what I'm talking about
You can't really compare it mathematically when one does %
Like if something has billions of health on a loop, poison will do more dmg
It has been proven through thorough testing against a variety of mobs at different points in a run with different item setups
The Youtubers normally stick to "tier lists" and "metas," and most people just make fun of them for it.
and in the vast majority of cases, poison beat blight, and when blight beat poison, it was only by a matter of roughly 5-20 seconds. Meanwhile poison regularly beat blight by minutes for kill times
This wasn't a tier list, it was actual thorough testing
Like, mathematically proven
I'm talking about generally saying "this is better"
It will always attract SOME problem, so for an informational website, it's better to provide the facts
Its a FACT that poison outperforms blight, though, that's what I'm getting at
Why does the wiki ignore it, and mislead new players, who go to the wiki to find out what is better?
The wiki should at least mention this information somewhere
all it should say is
"This skill is good at this"
"This other skill is good at this"
And let people figure it out on their own. Trying to bluntly say "this skill is better" leads to stupid arguments like this, which is why they avoid doing it
When its something that is 1) easy to prove, and 2) important information that people often ask and seek, I don't see why it should be completely ignored just so that an argument can be avoided (an argument that shouldn't even really exist)
This is the WIKI, it should have all of the communities information and knowledge, yet there are things that are ignored for no good reason
my guy, I'm speaking from experience here
idk how long you've been around the ror2 community, but the biggest drama this game has ever had (other than the sots launch ig) came from people trying to say that you shouldn't ever deviate from meta loadouts and trying to push that as objective fact
like, the wiki editors were getting attacked over this shit
I'm not saying people should only use poison, I'm saying the pool of all game knowledge should include the fact that, mathematically, poison is better than blight because that is important information for people who want to know which is better
Its ok for some abilities to be better than others
I WISH all abilities were balanced, if I could change anything about the game I'd change the underperforming abilities to be more fun and powerful
But unfortunately its not something the devs focused on in the past, and I doubt GBX will focus on it in the future
My point is this. If I ask, "what is stronger, blight or poison?" and you say "it's up to preference", you are lying to me
And this is exactly what the wiki is doing
If I say "What should I use, blight or poison", and you respond "its up to preference", then that is absolutely correct and fine and valid
But that's not what the wiki is for
Or not entirely what its for
It should provide all information, including which alternate ability is stronger
I'm not defending underpowered abilities, I wish they were better too.
And I agree that the wiki gives blight more credit than it deserves, but I would much rather have people be fairly informed on what each skill is actually good at and how it can be used, rather than just having some vague idea of which one is "better" because the wiki said so
I need to admit, my passion regarding this subject is purely because I think trying to paint bad abilities as good gives them much less hope to ever being buffed or changed
I WANT these abilities to be good, and for them to be buffed the devs need to know that they are bad
okay, that's a much better point
One of my favourite parts of the game is the variety in skills, and having a large portion of them just be blatantly worse than the competition feels so stifling
Ok, I do agree with that, which is also why I think it is better to ask actual players about the general consensus
Like the wiki will never tell you sotv > sots, but every time someone asks in #ror2-discussion it's a unanimous "sotv"
I kinda realised mid conversation that thats why I always felt so strongly about it lol
but I also don't think the wiki is a good place for that at all
like, that's what the feedback channels are for
Generally interacting with the community as a whole gives you a lot of info on what everyone thinks of meta
And the amount of potential there is for buffing and changing bad skills is sooo fun to think about
Imagine if blight had a 0.1 proc coefficient??
Wouldn't that be sick as fuck
Or something cooler to seperate it from poison enough that they can't be directly compared
Because they're both just DoT effects, its really easy to say one is better than the other
sadly most of those posts are "add this item!" and like 1 out of 100 or more are changes
Meanwhile, rorrs alternate poison makes all attacks to more damage to the target, which is far more interesting than blight
Well, scratch that I guess. Very few users make change posts, but those who do contribute a lot themselves
it also achieves what blight aims to (promoting an aggressive playstyle) in a much more effective way
yeah, I kinda wish they'd add a separate channel for item/character/whatever ideas
Yeah
I agree, blight needs something
i.e. wolfo, the guy who basically works for this game
Skills like arrow rain just need stat boosts and they'd be great
Flamethrower could use a range buff, maybe make it scale with attack speed
Also, making it agile would be great as it is quite awkward to use
Thats all that makes it "bad", in my opinion
Directive: Harvest, Blight and Flamethrower are like my top 3 "plz buff" skills lol
arrow rain would be up there too but I like playing Arti more
it already scales with speed
I mean the range of it
oh
Currently its range is so low that it often can't even hit blind pests on stage 1
eh, disagree tbh
I think flamethrower's identity is as a powerful, committal, high-risk/high-reward skill
Also making
even better on arti is cool
the main thing it needs is damage
If the reward was higher I think it could be worth it, but its damage scales poorly late game and the risk gets exponentially higher, especially in eclipse
it was already powercrept pretty hard, but then sotv changed how burn damage worked and nerfed the hell out of flamethrower
Not being able to spring, and having to get close to an enemy whilst also not being able to use any other abilities, AND lacking a mobility skill to get you out of danger afterwards
Yeah, flamethrower used to be "good for proc" but is now... mediocre with the burn changes
and for some reason they buffed flame bolt's damage to compensate, but all they did for flamethrower was make it scale with attack speed, which it should've always done anyway
"Not being able to sprint?" Why do you say not to make it Agile then?
I did say make it agile
oh, i must've read that original one wrong. just a miscommunication
I don't like the idea of sprinting with flamethrower because 1. you usually circlestrafe while using it, so unless they let arti sprint sideways, I don't think it'd be very useful. and 2. My muscle memory is to use sprint to cancel flamethrower so this would make the game literally unplayable for me
Theres a mod that increases the range and makes it agile, and it felt really fun to use even with its normal damage
It does COLOSSAL damage though
Like I genuinely chose it over ion surge 50% of the time

I always thought it'd be neat if arti's jetpack had a built-in version of chrysalis' air dash thing
Maybe only side to side, but yeah it would be cool
Flamethrower should launch arti upwards like in rorr........
So she can rain fire down on her foes
-try to aim down at an enemy
-blasted away
-doesn't hit enemy
like it just gives you a little shove in the direction you're holding when you activate it, not a huge boost but enough to make the jetpack feel a little less slippery
Flamethrower should rapidly propel arti backwards like a high pressure water hose
i feel like this might be the only reason it changed was the dimension shift
i've definitely seen people suggest flamethrower having propulsion before
ngl arti's entire kit feels like it was designed for 2d, especially ice wall
those people should just use ion surge lmao
she does work great in rorr though. probably my favorite character there
Arti was one of the first characters designed, so it makes sense
iirc hopoo originally intended for ror2 to be 2.5d until they decided that full 3D was more fun
Yeah I love her in rorr EXCEPT THE FUCKING USELESS ASS SUN ABILITY OH MY GOD
Holy shit I hate it with a burning passion
They HAD A CHANCE TO FIX IT
THEY ADDED MOUSE AIMING
AND THEY DID NOTHING 😭
Its horrendous and atrocious and it makes me so sad
Ok I got it out, I'm done now
I think I need a Risk of Rain therapist, I have some deep rooted ror trauma
Sun requires a different approach and mindset so….yeah
Flamethrower just needs to be not borderline melee range for it to be good imo
22 meters(as far as I remember) is way too close for her - for reference Focus Crystal is 20m range. Yeah.
crystal is 13m
Wait, is lantern 20 then? I got them mixed up didn't I
and the range on flamethrower isn't the problem, it's the damage
like I said earlier, the whole idea behind flamethrower is that it should be risky and committal, but powerful if used right
Lantern is 20m ye
Focus Crystal increases damage by 20% to enemies within 13m is why you might've been confused
That's probably it. My bad
Flamethrower's damage is indeed kind of just...poor. Honestly I have no reason to use it when you can just charge and throw secondary for pretty much the same damage if not better
it used to be better before they changed how burn damage worked
the average damage went from around 4000% to ~2500% iirc
Yeah, that's what I heard. Only got the game last December after I heard they patched out most bugs from SotS
4000%
Good lord that's A LOT
only about half of that damage could actually proc tbf, but yeah it was pretty decent
burn used to do a flat 200% base damage, but in the SotV update they changed it to do 50% of the hit that procced it, unless it's something like gasoline that's just burn damage by itself
for most things that was a buff, but for arti specifically it was a nerf
they buffed the damage on her primaries to compensate but didn't buff flamethrower because ???????
"It's in a good spot it doesn't need changes"
(it wasn't in a good spot.)
if you get flamethrower with a stack of ignition tank, that's about how much damage it used to deal
Hopoo treating Arti's flamethrower the way Valve treats the Righteous Bison
the best part is that gearbox buffed her primary AGAIN while forgetting that flamethrower exists
(*it's possible the arti buff was unintentional and just happened because they messed with how primary cooldowns worked when making chef, but still)
I hope it stays when they remove ammo from chefs m1
For bandits, is sticking with the serrated dagger recommend or do most use the serrated shiv?
it doesn't make a huge difference, but the throwing knife is a little better imo
the difference in damage is negligible, and being able to apply hemorrhage from more than like 3 feet away is a nice convenience
the only other advantage of dagger is that it's technically an aoe, but a pretty small one. The aoe from smoke bomb is a lot more useful
I like using smoke for the movement speed and extra jump
I mean yeah, that's usually what it's for, but the aoe is a nice bonus too and makes the one on dagger a lot less necessary
True.
dagger's hitbox is also really weird
I’m well aware, I can be standing right on top of an enemy and it doesn’t hit
yeah, that's why I prefer the throwing knife lol
yo so I'm doing the like pillar thing that summons the green portal but I'm already in that area that you access through that green portal and a gold portal spawned does that take me to
nvm I just did some wiki research yes
Am I insane or does rex just actually suck? This loadout is not bad, if I were playing almost any other character this loudout would be fantastic, but I was on Abyssal depths and I was just doing jack all for damage. I couldn't dent literally anything, even crabs, and I'm just like how? Am I terrible? I went into the stage at 40 minutes and ended up coping the teleporter only to die at 80 minutes so I'm pretty salty right now, but I really just want to know is REX actually this bad? (I was using all self damage except m2 was not)
(Forgot to include this was on E7)
In my professional opinion you only have like 4 good damage items. The speed and crit is really nice but can’t do everything, honestly I think if you had like one dagger or gas you would’ve been in a much better spot
Even a crowbar would go a long way since you have fmp + wisp and are struggling with smaller enemies and gups
Though I’m surprised you’d be struggling that hard with 3 bands and a uke
That's exactly what I was thinking! I literally said to who I'm in call with rn that I wish I had like one crowbar or some watches or something. I was sooo close to a good build.
That's the main thing, I had shurkens and shift to proc them but they were just doing nothing and I don't really know why. I couldn't kill crabs with them and they were only doing like 10% to elites. 550% on bands I guess isn't as strong as I thought
It’s 550% of the damage of what procced them, I think shurikens and shift just weren’t doing enough
Didn’t mean to reply to that
I meant rex's shift does 550%, so that proccing bands wasn't as strong as I thought. And I mean comparitively to other characters it makes sense, a lot of them do way more than 550, most have a way to do 1000% or more (even mando has at least 700)
Ah, I haven’t actually unlocked alt shift yet (the conditions to meet go against my play style and I seldom play Rex)
Yeah your only damage multiplication was bands and crit (and a broken watch) so… lots of potential but not quite enough
I keep getting this lunar item and the description is “does nothing. BUT…”
What does it do
Why is the game gatekeeping
Have you obliterated before
Yeah
Go do it again but with the beads
Go to sleep
Not tired
Not healthy
what is "obliterated"
its the game end 'win' condition of ending via the celestial portal on any 3rd stage after looping
you just kinda tap out and take the win without ending on a final boss. it was the only real way to end a run back in the day before any final bosses were added. its got a special synergy with the fealty tho
okay interesting, i havent beated a single end boss and i have about 15 hours in, theres a lot im trying to learn
it's worth it to obliterate at least once
what happens when you do that
theres a character unlock tied to obliterating. no beads or anything special, just doing it in general
so celestial portal on stage 8 would be the easiest way to do it
okay nice
what is the best loadout start for artificer? i just started using her and she seems like a cool character, but i dont wanna do the challenges for the unlocks if they arent worth it
all default is probably best
alt m1 scales nicely with proc items but default also works with ignition tank and is better early
is the alt R better than flamethrower?
its a pretty significant damage and proc loss, but its more evasive
ion surge is easier to use so a lot of people like it, but if you use it well flamethrower is probably just better
its probably worth trying out
Which is better flurry or strafe for huntress
Strafe is generally better, you need a lot of crit before flurry becomes better
doesnt take much crit for flurry to outperform damage wise, but if you dont get crit it feels kinda bad
alright thanks
also flurry is always worse early on when no items, and huntress already has pretty rough damage so you could argue the tempo strafe gives is more beneficial. but ig you could also argue the change isnt really tremendous enough to be a big deal in the full purview of her kit
flurry is like 21% crit to be better dps, 26 to be better pps, but the total damage dps for like atg or uke scales more slowly and takes till like 81 or 86 i dont rember.
Isn't it 41% crit to outdps strafe on average?
Huh, so it is
i think with some of the sots items you can technically break free from the multiple of 5 +1 crit grid lol, but this should still be good enough
Very good to know
the proc dps in this sheet is broken so i didnt screenshot it as well but it should just be dps x proc coeff. so at 81% its 791.5x0.7 for 554, compared to strafe at 543, which is why the requirement for specifically total damage dps is much higher
Ah, I see
Would that be multiplied by the average dps increase of specific items to get the average dps with those items included, then?
Like ATG being +30%
stuff like watch or etc affect everything so those are universal, but then yea the pdps would combine with the specific proc you are looking at for the final expected dps from that proc
Thats an interesting spreadsheet, it's awesome seeing proper number crunching
Especially with how contentious some numbers are in the community
yea ive got lots of fun sheets haha, been collecting them over the years as stuff is added and i wanna test or log it
some stuff like the clover or equipment cdr calc continue to prove quite useful. the clover one is pretty applicable to non-ror2 stuff as well which is nice
I'd love to get some numbers and graphs to actually numerically compare abilities
The amount of ability arguments in the community is insane when they can be number crunched and compared directly a lot of the time
yea a lot of stuff isnt too bad to compare
the real tough ones come when ideal vs realistic are gapped or when situational/skill stuff is a big deal
is there a way to increase the chance to get a logbook when killing an enemy? i know 57 leaf clover helps reroll item chances but i wasnt sure if that counted for logbook.
it does count for the logbooks!
its almost exclusively for item or ability chance effects, so like not shrines or chests, but enemy log books and elite aspects are exceptions
57 leaf clover can help with elite aspects?
its 1% for normal enemies and 3% for bosses, so stacking clovers can help a lot actually
it can! they are quite rare by default tho so its still rare even with a few rerolls
thats so cool thank you
Any tips for huntress
Take advantage of her blinks to distance yourself from enemies as she has a lower health max then most characters
your m2 is stronger than you think
if you havent already go for unlocking her alternate special arrow rain is horrible
I think m2 is her best damaging ability if you can land all tbe bounces
it is very powerful yeah
It'll chain on 2 targets so thats not too tough either
and luminious shot are really good on her
i think im forgetting another item that boosts m2s
Only growth nectar affects crit out of the sots items but that introduces wayyy too much variability so yeah not worth
Why can't I charge my captain m1? It says "Auto" or sometimes "Charged" but I can't long press it?
nevermind, it's because of the riskytweaks mod update 😭
Although ig playing multiplayer with a seeker could also do it technically it's just not an item lol
Is the new dlc worth it?
If you really want to play the game on the most actual version yes
Some parts of it are still kinda rough but it's much better than it was, and it's still getting updates
If you want more stuff in vanilla then I'd say it's probably worth it but not a must-have
are the dlcs automatically installed regardless if you own them or not?
Yes, purchasing them just basically unlocks them for personal use and gives access to survivors
You're all to play the content without owning it as long as someone in game has it
are you able to play the dlc survivors if someone has a copy?
No, you need to have purchased the dlc to use the survivors, even if another player has it
How much safer spaces would be a good amount to get for lv 99 monsoon
at around 60-70 has a 0 second cooldown, if you want immortality
65 stacks for 1 frame, yeah
which survivor would i benefit the most from (good in all content, all-rounder) if i just want to play 1 surv only?
Is a prismatic trial just a normal run with extra steps? Because I’m trying to unlock the scythe
isnt commando kinda dog tho?
It's a much shorter pre seeded run with a few extra steps to the teleporter(breaking crystals)
Not really
He has one of the best item scaling in the game while also just being consistent
His most glaring issue is he doesn't have any band procs outside of other items or frag grenades
i mean if you want to just play 1 survivor that's good at everything and can do any of the content fine then probably void fiend but I really wouldn't recommend doing that generally
a big part of the fun is discovering synergies with the items and different survivors kits imo
False son can do burst, dps procs, and tank all at once
What is this thing?
it's for a survivor unlock, you have to bring the fuel cell from the back of the drop pod at the start of a run to it in order to unlock rex
Is newt statue a guaranteed spawn on every stage? Because I’ve been looking for one on the stage three snow storage and can’t find it anywhere.
beginner reminder: holding the fuel ARRAY (sorry dintour) will self detonate and kill the player along with any non boss mob in radius
you can live through invincibility tho (most shifts for example)
the vast majority. im not positive about the sots ones but in base game only alt roost can roll 0
which is weird. most others are like 1-2 or 1-3
high chance on all stages in fact
only possible exceptions are prime meridian, observertory (technically all void stages), commencement, a moment - both, newt bazaar
its guaranteed on most. though accessible isnt, as theres no checks on whether or not the area is blocked off, like the cave in abyssal or the vault on roost
🫡
Does having a void seed in the level prevent a newt?
no
absoulutely not
also yea its funny, it deals 3x your max hp so it will actually nuke bosses pretty hard too haha
you can survive with armor but its not super easy since it goes off at 50% and deals 300%.
its a surprisingly viable strategy to use on engineer, as the turrets inherit it and will nuke things that get them to low hp
thought they dont kill bosses
void seed is scene director like chests. newt altars are specifically map toggles, like vaults or bridges or whatever. so its completely disconnected from chest spawns and multiplayer and stuff
its not a point and click kill, it just deals a fuckton of damage lol
like i once tried to do it once and it was tis but a scratch
well aside from everything else turning to corpses and skeletons
ok apple is a btch for pausing everytime it buffers discord media
im not gonna consider taking it back
tim didnt cook that well at all
Finally found the statue
i think this was before power mode armor got reduced to 100, because 200 armor is 3x effective health, with half damage from friendly fire it deals exactly 50% total. since mult has 12 more armor and some regen he can survive with 200 armor
Thank goodness
So a small issue, I was playing multiplayer for the first time since I got the dlc and since the update and it was being really buggy. My friend had no issues while I was having many and I'm not sure if that's just a hosting thing or what. The main issues were my engi mines beeping rapidly and non stop while sitting there (spider mines) and the recycled wasn't doing it's thing unless I was a decent amount away from the item. Idk if those are bugs or what but I thought I'd bring it up.
the mine bug ive experienced
iirc the spider mines issue was brought up at the bug report branch
not the recycler bug tho, worth doing
Oh and there was a bug we both saw where the multishops had the closed texture but we hadn't bought anything from them. We could still buy things but we couldn't see what we were buying
tip: pinging interactables helps alot
Does ror2 have crash logs? If yes, where do I find them?
Thanks, sorry for wrong channel, didn't see tech support
no worries
does the green portal bring me to false son or is it the gold one
ok quick situation: recently i got a new laptop, and i of course wanted to redownload risk of rain
i noticed ingame theres these panes of light textures common around some maps, and i wanted to ask if anybody knows what these are and if theres a setting that messes with them
they’re usually in any tunnel or transition to another part of map
sometimes they’re a solid slate of white
green goes to false son
yeah, there's a setting that fixes it, I forget which one it is specifically but I think it's related to shadows or lighting effects
alrighty ill mess around
i think ill probably just go on my old pc and screenshot the settings lol
ok i copied all of my settings 1 to 1 and its still here
alright i have absolutely no clue
it might be a hardware thing, you'll probably just have to play with settings until you find the specific one that fixes it
I used to get the same thing ages ago, I don't remember what setting caused it anymore but I do know that it can be fixed
hmm
i messed with each setting in the graphics tab, just sitting there turning each one by one waiting for a change
it doesn't seem to be disappearing
do you know what this type of panel or plane is called so i can search around
I'm afraid not
if I have time later I'll check it out in my own game and see if I can get the same thing to happen tho
The recycler being weird is an ancient non-host player bug, its quite annoying
Jumping makes it semi consistent
sup, what happens when I play with a friend that has both dlcs while I don‘t have either? Do I still get access to dlc items or how does it work
Yeah you both get access to everything in game, only difference is you can't play the dlc characters. Everything else is unlocked
aight bet thanks
Is there a doc or site I can look at to see what unlocking every item requires?
Sobel light setting or something like that does it
just use the ingame logbook, if you hover over a locked thing it'll tell you how to get it
but the wiki does have them if you prefer that https://riskofrain2.wiki.gg/wiki/Challenges
Challenges, also known as achievements, are optional goals that, when reached, permanently unlock new elements in the game.
Completing a Challenge will unlock either a Survivor, a Survivor's alternate Skill or skin, Item, or Equipment (that will start to drop in subsequent runs). Completion will also award between 1 and 10.
Does the luminous shot lightning have a proc coef?
I think it's 1.0
Nice, thanks
Is heretic a permanent unlock?
No
Are you on PC there are mods that make it so
what gender is commando?
male
oki
has anyone ever looked into the void field's director? Like hwat drives it to pick what enemies? Because it can pick elder lemurians quite early and stuff like elder wisps pretty late
what happens if i offer items to that shrine after killing the false son?
or is that like the teal portal thatll just end my run safely
It'll end the run and then that item will be in the artifact of rebirth
it kills you but you get the item next game
ohh i gotcha i dont even have any artifacts yet thank you lol
Kills you is misleading, you still win the run
yea
That's how you unlock that artifact, unlike all the other ones
Ooo I see
will the game ever get crossplay?
It's more likely since they unified the codebase but I still wouldn't hold my breath
Let's hope
Is unlocking acrid easier or harder then unlocking void fiend?
Probably acrid. You can do void fields at any time (through bazaar), while voidling is not only known to be difficult sometimes, and would take longer. The alternative for viend, wave 50 of simulacrum, isn't any faster
Like you could probably get acrid stage 1 or 2, i forgot if it counts as a stage progression
