I'm excited but at the same time worried about Koichi. Yes, he'll now fight back, but his beating No. 6 will be recorded on live TV. One reason, The Crawler was never considered a problem because he wasn't a brawler. Now, the entire country will see the opposite. Public opinion may not be kind to him. And, it's not just being a vigilante. He could be arrested and brought up on destruction of property charges. Basically, he could be blamed for just about everything that's happened since the blackout. I really don't want this happening, but there's a chance The Crawler may be put in prison at the end of the series (assuming he's the reason one of the prisons after the Tartarus Breakout didn't have prisoners escape).

As for who in Class A Koichi can beat...just about everyone except Deku. Bakugo's strong but we've seen Koichi dodge No. 6, so it'd be hard for his attacks to hit Koichi and even if they do he can reflect it.

We don't know. We're in the final arc of Vigilantes with Koichi fighting the Final Big Bad. It's all still up in the air.

But, yeah. Koichi developing his quirk over time is a big highlight of the series for me. It follows the rules set by Horikoshi in the main series (quirks can go stronger if trained and properly understood). It also adds a bit about quirks sometimes being misdiagnosed.

I think Deku's quirk overall makes sense, I just wish we've had more time to appreciate them and see Deku master them before going on to the next.
Koichi has more leeway since he only has one quirk and all his "upgrades" fall under the training umbrella along with each new technique being defense or speed, two things Koichi is great at.
Basically, Koichi had the instincts and the power. He only needed the desperation (attacked by No. 6) to bring them out.

Am not updated to the manga but I do rate koichi higher than anime deku. Koichi's defense, speed and manuevering are just way above him. Even offensively, I think Koichi's beam can be even more powerful than deku's current "smash" level.

His personality mostly. He basically gave up on his dream. And I don't think even now he considers himself good enough to be a hero. Koichi seems to treat being a vigilantes as a side-gig. He even said eariler in the arc he was gonna give bing The Crawler and get a job because he's about to graduate college. The sad part is, even if he made it to hero high school tryout, he may have failed because his quirk was so weak back then.

I'm going to defend Koichi's upgrades. Remember the quirk rule set by Horikoshi: 1. Quirks grow stronger the more you train them. Koichi has been actively using his quirk in public for years now. Being in a dangerous situation unlocks his potential. And it's hard getting more dangerous than Number 6. But, again, keep in mind NONE of what he's done this arc would be possible if he hadn't been training (being a vigilante) for years.
And let's not forget the mental blocks brought by his mom and, later, Pop (not wanting him to seriously hurt anyone). It's taken Number 6 pushing Koichi into a corner along with Knuckleduster giving Koichi permission and confidence to finally go on the offense. "AFO" warned Number 6 several chapters ago that The Crawler is the perfect counter to Number 6. Now, he's about to learn it the hard way. Basically, this arc is Bully VS Quiet Kid with superpowers.

This entire time, since Koichi had mentioned his ability to essentially float in the air as a child, I was never under the assumption that he wasn't able to do what he can do now. Especially after the introduction of Captain Celebrity and how simliar their quirks. Along with the first time he showcased to Kazuho his very lethal "shooty-go-blam". Kid can shoot bullet-sized forces out of his hands... I mean, you'd be an idiot if you didn't think he'd soon learn how to fly, let alone float in the air.

What's a "real" fight? The one with the salaryman that turned into a giant? Stendal? The Octoguy he fought with Aizawa? The Sky Egg Arc? My point is being a vigilante constantly puts Koichi in dangerous situations. The danger level itself can vary, but it's real world experience and always using his quirk that helped build his power over the years. Also, keep in mind, it's not just fights, Koichi's desire to help people also pushes him forward (Mokoto, Captain Celebrity, Pop, Aizawa, etc.).
But, yeah. I get it can seem this all came out of nowhere because MHV can be subtle at times about Koichi's growth. Mostly I'm referring to the time skips, Koichi continuing his training without KD, and the scene after the last time skip where the schoolgirls called for The Crawler's aid. It implied he's become a reliable "hero" and dodged the two guy's attacks without breaking a sweat. Even that quick scene earlier in this arc when people genuinely thought The Crawler was a legit hero implies how much good he's done over the years.
