Yeah, off the dome I'm thinking that doc had already wrote the repair instructions for 55 doc on how to fix the delorean, so if they tried to siphon the gas they might risk damaging or breaking part of the car (doc clearly doesn't know a lot about cars considering he chose a delorean) which would make repairing it much harder/impossible for 55 doc since he wouldn't know what was broken and that would risk a time paradox or something
