I think this avatar doesn't respect the cultural image behind the original work

I have done a bit study about Chinese culture on my own. This dude of this creation is Guan Yu, a famous fighter in the end of East Han Dynasty. He is seen as the incarnation of courage and righteousness and widely worshiping Chinese societies.
He had exceptionally long beard and a red face. (red face means one is full of righteousness in Beijing opera)

Yet, the new iteration deleted the long beard and made cutie eyes for Guan Yu. It doesn't fit the cultural image of him and it simply shows the author lacks of cultural understanding.

however, i believe the skin is a remake of the old one, and i doubt they'll bring back the old version

the hair seems relatively messy, you could run through their edges with mirror tool perhaps. Add shading to them as well.

Parts of the shirt are blurry so patch those up. Some jutty edges so clean them up as well. Add shading too.

Bg is kinda plain and the lines are wobbly.

it looks really cute and on first sight i dont see the theme you had in mind very well 👀 but everyone has different styles, even kids so i can let it slide haha. either way, this is what i would change:

-the highlights are for some reason very distracting, most likely due to dark gray on white is hard to see
-the hair looks very symmetrical, even for a kid thats very unrealistic. try playing a bit more around with the hair and give it more a kid look, so more messy, especially if you wish to work with long hair
-the eyes give me a feeling they are more looking to the right, not sure how or why
-the shirt looks really good! but it looks like the sleeves become smaller all of a sudden, the shading doesnt really help by much, it goes from bigger to smaller in no time
-not sure how much the mouth will be visible on darker skins, try to make them fit on all of them

overall, it looks really good! but it will need some small editing here and there

first time designing here? i havent seen you here before, but it is a really good first attempt. this is what i would change or work on though:

-have you tried using a stabiliser? or a pen tool? (depends on your app), that will make the design look cleaner and give is more the wov style and will suit it better.
-make sure to try and avoid outlines, your current shirt looks like it has those and if it is shading, it doesnt fit on that place
-the hairline is really high and seems to be sitting on its head instead of being a part of well, the outfit. try working as well to the sides and make it lower
-the hair has some shading, but it needs shading everywhere, the front part misses it
-the eyes are a bit small, can you make them bigger and lower? due to the hairline they look on the right place but since it needs to be moved down the same counts for the eyes
-i would give the "error" glass a smooth shape, looks better in the cyberpunk theme. make sure you write the letters yourself as well!
-the earrings are clearly copied and pasted from eachother, try work a bit with them and play around
-the mouth is hard to be seen on darker skin tones, make sure they fit on it as well

overall, it is a good first attempt, but there is still a long way to go

You could make use of the mirror tool to make the sides look relatively similar. It seems to lack in shading, and i can find wobbly lines at the curvy area. Also the eyebrows of the dino are wayyy too thin and need to be thicker. More importantly, you outlined it, and outlines aren't allowed, so you'll have to patch it up.

Mouth
It seems rather plain, and again, you can use mirror tool if you'ld like.

Eyes
Too simple. Eyes in game arent just a dot + highlights, we need a human-like eye shape. Check in game outfits for examples.

Blush (Mask?)
Nice! You could tho just have 3-5 red strokes inside of it rather than many messy ones.

I cant really see it, so for now you'll needa shade it.

The meteorite needs shading and the fire-thing around it is outlined. The mountains at the back are really really good but it seems to blur at the edges. Blurry lines and gradients aren't allowed. I don't want to say anything against the Gem quests, but I have the feeling that you are trying to make the Gold quests as exciting as possible. I would like to see the old Gold Quests back, which represented animals, professions or hobbies. Where sometimes 1-2 levels of gold were in there. The best would be a good mix with which both sides are happy.

hey!! Really great improvements with the hair, The shading looks much better. I also really like how you lowered the opacity on the blush below the eyes! It works very well. Personally I perfer the old eyes with the hard white shading. Right now it looks like there are gradients in the eyes which are against the style guide, but it may just be the quality of the image. Hm... I'm conflicted.

For me I definitely perfer the more recently sent eyes, but the clothes are tough. While I like how the clothes in the more recently sent one match the hair and hat, they make the background contrast the avatar quite a lot.

Just for experimentation, how would you feel about making the coat on the outside of the shirt follow that galaxy type theme? I may just be throwing ideas at a wall, I tend to do that a lot😂

First of all the shirt shape should never really follow the default body shape

The way your shirt was drawn in looks like the person was twisting their arms and intertwining their hands in the front of they belly

Also with jackets you should accentuate the shoulder more, since i am assuming it is a jacket? Then you should shade underneath it and add sleeve shading on the jacket like so

Then again just a suggestion, it's how i shade my stuff since a while now
