long answer: Event cards can only be upgraded during a matching event. Devs have mention in a Q&A that, with 99% odds, you will be able to upgrade a event role card when the event returns next year if you kept the card (ps1: if you don't have the card, they mention they will probably return but not set in stone) (ps2: they also mentioned that if a role is absurdly op or sucks they may soft remove it by not adding it to future events).

Additionally, devs said there is a high change that we receive a mid year event where you can upgrade cards of other events, but it's not confirmed when
