What is the best special weapons in the game? I played during alpha and forgot which ones were good

Scatergun, burst cannon, hel rifle, hel gun, veruta machinegun
What other weapons are good for taking out big guys? I remember there being some shotguns that weren't really all that loved

Nah i meant like where it is, for example i had a recent run where we had 2 foam grenades in the class6 zone (one in D one in B), a c-foam tripmine and a grenade in the previous zone (the room with the stealth scan to the class 6 zone), and another tripmine very close (in the room of the stealth scan to the other zone) This was on top of all 4 of us having 2 foam grenades and 2 c-tripmines. All of it was super easy to grab with virtually no enemies on the way

short rifle isnt a good weapon, but it has a ton of ammo/dmg to spare. So aside from shooting kraken sniper will often have far less dmg to put out
so around 120% foam (compared to a foam launcher) in the absolute best case of 8 accessable foam consumables
If you are lucky and can permafoam i think you usually spend more than that

Hardest individual section/encounter is probably R8D2 Secondary's class IX.
I honestly think a person is gonna have more attempts on r2e1 than r8e2
cause r2e1 is such a early wall
and if you've reached r8e2, you're probably half decent at the game
Id disagree on r8d2sec being the hardest encounter/section if you consider going for the easiest possible (non exploit obviously) path
Sec alone class 5 is a bit of a copout obviously, but the class 7 is the easiest way to do the whole level and makes secondary very very managable
If class 9 were forced id agree, but as it stands if you advocate for class 9 (more fun challenge and makes main fog free again) then you could argue for other sections done in their hardest way
Thats considering how hard it is to someone generally getting to that level
But this would also push R1A1 and R1C1 to some of the hardest levels, so its not a great metric
i mean it said the hardest section so obv the VII is easier but- they taking the hardest option cuz it is the hardest option

In the middle of a R6D1 run. At the Kracken fight we had 2 of them spawn after the first tumor burst? Any idea how this happened?

Even if you get kraken to spawn, nightmare surge during kraken with spawns of top of you is most likely impossible
They would not spawn on top of you.
You still don't do it because it's so many alarms, but you didn't set up your cconsole test correctly.
Also, that's exclusively reactor waves that act that way.
Reactor wave stuck room is in second stealth scan room, rather than Kraken.

Most enemies when spawned cost one point, so generally just 25 enemies. Some enemies, like Giants, often cost 2 points when spawned, so you'd only need 12 of them (13 to be safe).
Spawn cost isn't tied to the enemy variant itself, but rather just the settings used when it is spawned, so Giants don't always cost 2 points and sometimes Strikers don't cost 1 point (though this is rare).
Sometimes alarms will have a minimum number of points that they're allowed to spend when spawning, in which case you'll need fewer than 25 points to block spawns. Though be wary if you start a new alarm (or otherwise introduce a different method for enemies to spawn) which has a different minimum, since those might be able to sneakily spawn.

I bought GTFO just after its official launch in 2021, but only recently I managed to find a group to play with. Earlier the people I wanted to play with were disouraged by the rundowns being a timed thing and them being unable to actually experience the first rundowns ever again. But now that we have the ://ALT rundowns available, we started playing and having a blast.

How do the ALT versions of rundowns compare to the original rundowns? Do we miss anything? Did something change? Are those just polished up versions of the original rundowns?

In many places I keep finding information on weapons being restricted to particular rundowns, but now it seems to have been changed, so that every weapon and tool is available in every rundown. When did that change happen? I can't seem to find it in the previous patch notes. What is the community's view on that change? Does it significantly change the game? Does it make it easier? Is there any place, where I can find information on what weapons were originally intended for specific rundowns and is that something worth going for, if I want to have a kind of authentic experience?

Generally they're a touch easier (stronger weapons and tools, and some slight level nerfs) and miss the ambiance of the originals because the game was different back then

If you sprint + move sideways or backwards you get a little burst of momentum, but you need to be careful using it because it uses up a lot of stamina (if you use too much you'll start sprinting slower and charging your melee slower)

What was the community's reaction to unlocking all the weapons for all rundowns? Does it make a huge difference in difficulty? Are some weapons overpowered for some particular rundowns?
Also is there a place, where I can find a list of weapons, that were originally intended for particular rundowns? Is sticking to the intended guns worth it for authentic, close to the original experience?
I've yet to see anyone care about using the weapons 'intended' for the rundown, so if you want to care about it then feel free, but I don't think it's much of a community sentiment
Levels rarely feel like they were designed around only specific weapons being available, so I don't think there's too much lost playing with all weapons available.
The only level that comes to mind is R7E1, since original R7 had like MG as its 'best' waveclear option, but now there are significantly better options available.
I think if you want a list of which weapons for which rundown then your best bet is reading #patch-notes and trying to piece it together. Or find a video from each rundown and hope they open the weapon selection.
Wiki has which weapons got added in which rundown, so you'd just need to piece together if things were removed.
Hard to answer about the weapons also because some got massively changed, which changed the balance more than adding a previously "rundown limited" weapon did.
I'd just not care about using rundown limited weapons for that reason too
Let me make an example, Burst Cannon
OG R4 BC had (among other things) 5 shot bursts (unless you canceled the burst but that's no longer always possible), new one has 3-shot bursts.
From what you're telling me, so much has changed over time, that it's not worth it, since the weapons themselves are changed to the point, where this elusive "pure" experience is not possible to achieve.
I'll just stop worrying about it and just enjoy the game as it is right now.

Look, I get the irony and I get how my questions might sound. But the truth is, that I am highly susceptible to FOMO, so the way that rundowns worked previously actually did have some charm in my opinion. But of course ultimately I am really glad, that they went back on that idea, and gave us access to previous rundowns in the form of the ://ALT versions, because now me and my freinds actually can experience them. I just wanted to know what are the differences. If it's just some minor changes, then awesome! But the changes might have been much bigger.
So no - I won't be refunding a game I'm really enjoying right now. I just wanted to know how the development went, and what better place to ask, then a GTFO Discord, where there are probably many fans that were there to experience those changes, and can tell me the story.

But it did! When we try to look at the decision in a vacuum and forget, that people have adult lives and resposibilities, which might prevent them from experiencing a rundown because of time contraints, then rundowns being temporary did add a lot of tension in a way. I like and dislike the idea at the same time.
But as I've said - ultimately I am really glad, that we have ALT rundowns now.

But dmg comparable to pistol/rifle per shot iirc.

short rifle is a fairly underwhelming weapon because it simply does what a good main weapon does with a larger mag size, you can make it work but it doesn't give you fantastic output or a fill a great niche

whenever i just had to hold i was chilling
i will stand by that if you had backtracked to put in that code, even though it wouldve wasted time we would have been fine
we weren't running out of ammo med or tool shrug
my skill issue for killing too slowly to get downtime between waves but i think i communicated quite clearly that i didn't think i could input code safely
being in reactor waves spawn closer and take less time to get to you, so that's why there's little downtime
it's also why getting stuck holding in reactor without sawed off or hel shotgun or some other very strong waveclear gun can spell your doom rather easily

I have a question about targeting, when dudes spawn they seem to "lock on" to a specific player and target only them.
I was wondering if there is any way to make sure enemies target you, as in something preemptive.
The only ways I've found to get them to re target are:
1.) hitting them gun or melee
2.) getting in knifing range regardless of melee weapon
3.) shooting near the enemy will sometimes cause them to target you
dealing damage is the most reliable way to change enemy aggro, past that if you're the only player in line of sight of the enemy they'll often re-aggro onto you but it doesn't happen 100% of the tjme
they kinda just aggro onto whoever if not dealt damage rlly
u can see all kinds of situations where they run past u to get someone else
if it only covers half you're lucky (in my experience it usually covers the entire screen)
What is it tho?
if its like a square or a liquid- its void bug, its an issue with the liquid render and it should go away in a min or so
u can also press O to see the screen without the effect

hi i was hoping someone would know how to clear r7d2, me and my group of friends are struggling at the door where you put the memory stick in
we get swarmed by enemies and dont know what we're doing or what we're looking for, videos on youtube are also unclear

You either pull or Sneak, Up to you
You Open the blood door, find the terminal inside of it. It is Password locked, but says in what Zone you can find it in. You Open that Zone, find the terminal with the Password on it, use the Password on the terminal and then proceed
we have no problem getting the flash drive
problem is we get swarmed from behind eventually

since there are shadow scouts and other charger scouts

My Best way to clear it was
At the first door
2 people drop their sentries in the long hall
Then bio tracker guy and someone else holds
And the other player goes to assist the code hunt guy
They both clear the areas
Or some of them
right now we are running 1 bio tracker, 1 cfoam for the 5 charger scouts, 1 mine deployer for the angry door and 1 burst
Then the 2nd guy helping get codes goes to the people defending
Cfoam is trash
Dont run it there
2 burst 1 sniper sentry
Terminal is Close to the entrance so its Not that hard. If its the charger Zone Just shoot the First 2 rooms. With the Scout zone Just shoot the scout
1 biotracker
3 Shotgun sentries 
can someone kill Antares

The 2nd code hunt area has a lot of big strong enemies
So be extremely careful in there

Just pull the first room
Bio tracker is gonna be defending in the room with all the ressources (not the long hallway) anyway preferably and can then ping there
you can run 3 sentries and hold the entry door chokes for the constant wave spawns, you can split confortably 2/2 or even let 1 person defend with that
I highly recommend doing 2/2 split tbh
1 person defending isnt advised tho
2/2 is generally the fastest way to go about stuff, but you might need to have 3 or even 4 defending for certain points
Scout actually doesnt even matter

After You are done clearing the first or couple first areas with the code hunt guy

i think people usually prefer tank but its personal preference and might depend slightly on your guns aka do you have baby clear for example. mum side has a p-mother which could spawn in A. tank side has a couple tanks that can also spawn in A

if youre ballsy scattergun, otherwise anything with high dmg and some precision i guess
so its effetive hp is 1000/3
its also so hard to shoot its back, its always facing in front and i cant just run thru it to go behind
generally speaking i recommend splitting 2/2. 2 people holding with 2 sentries placed, other two can clear side zone. do not shoot close to the opened sidezone when you hold so you dont accidentally wake stuff up.
Scattergun can one shot him
bait it outside, have 1 person from behind and 1 person from upfront, its a bit harder if there are more than 1 tank per room
when tank or mum comes in from spawn side you can group to clear it, then communicate to clear the side zone if needed.
