Game unfortunately has many issues remembering what people had when people leave and or join. This can happen even with bots where they are given the wrong equipment. Objective items can become glitched in this way as well, and it can sometimes delete your consumable. All of this can also happen with checkpoint restarts

Whether or not someone considers them a form of exploiting (as is the historical debate due to them outright breaking several objectives), they’re still very unstable as a feature. I’ve had buddies of mine checkpoint restart with no ammo and visibly no weapons, the other day I had invisible doors on R7C3 so I could never tell if stuff was open or closed

It’s good for nobody at the end of the day if a checkpoint not uncommonly can softlock/brick a run and someone joining midgame might have a chance to due to desync (like to that ally they can see sleepers that were killed or see items on terminal that have long since been picked up)

And I’m deeply hoping that can get fixed one day. Modding community has already managed to fix so much
