If you faq it up then well unless you have a cracked sniper you won't be very happy about your options

There is checkpoints in „some“ levels that you can return to in the same session if you fail. But they arent that great

If you feel like a level is taking too long (30-90 min is expected, anything above 2 hours is not) then feel free to check community guides to make it a bit easier
