I honestly don't think you will learn any interesting lessons that you wouldn't with bots. With players - sure, they deny a lot of experimentation, but bots are fine - especially when it comes to stealth sections. They literally don't get involved until something wakes up.

Glowing sleepers can sense another one of their being killed. From quite a range too.
The best way to avoid it is to wait for them to go back to sleep and kill their friend immediately after. With large rooms full of enemies - you swipe with a flashlight to synchronise them and then start killing as soon as all of them collectively go limp again.
