since so much of the theoretical profit is SRA (wiki says 7m profit, but without sra it's 5.4m)

and I don't think someone doing bowfa rebuild has great vard gear either

Lots of items offer more dps than some of the suggested gear options for learners, dps isn't the only factor when deciding on gearing choices

and with how much prayer we get nowadays off of prayer regens, I think dropping 1 or 2 rests/sanfs for more brews if one is struggling could be more beneficial

Given that the learner is brand new, going for dps helm is literally not going to benefit them, the only place it actually benefits anyone is the bosses like you said, the fresh starting learner loadout is pretty much set in stone because it just works the best for the most amount of people
Same goes for the advice of banking the bastions and stuff for more brews so you can just spam click yellow without thinking
And it's why suffering will remain the ring of choice for anyone with a brain who doesn't watch gnomemonkey

You only phantom barrage once you're safe, at which point defence bonuses are wholely irrelevant

pipe specs really come in handy when youre in a pinch, and if you are tanking something, usually killing it just a bit quicker to not get hit 1 extra time is better than more defence bonuses (from what Ive seen/experienced)

The funny thing is, the faster regen of specs is fairly irrelevant for learners, the waves take longer and they typically sit on 100% spec most the time anyway, so when they do need spec, they have the spec available regardless of ring choice, so opting for the one that actually has a benefit for every wave is still better than the couple of times you'll be eating melee hits cause you're scared to go around the corner to a mage and 2 blobs
