Even if they do, how are they going to kill you? Some water doesn't let you see them under it at all to be ready to attack them, so they can pop up out of the water where they feel for air, and if it's a river for example. They can also cross to the other side, where you have to spend your stam to follow, but if you don't then they could just safelog/rest, there's also just using it for hiding too. I've done it before where I've just waited under the water. The carno trying to follow/chase me ended up going by thinking I had gone ahead.

it'd have to be very short lasting post pounce

maybe if it slightly increased bleed % rate with each unique trood to pounce them, would help them be big game hunters as a pack without boosting their ability to kill smaller things too much

give the big boys a liiittle more to fear
