You can log off and back on to fix the food face bug thing. It's what happens when your game client thinks a thing exists but the server doesn't. If you ever try to eat something and your dino just jerks and doesn't eat, don't pick it up. It is bugged.

If you wanna save stam really well, hold W while trying to gain altitude, and have the center of your screen barely above the horizon, the lower climb angle is WAY more stam efficient, you can climb for eons with very little stam cost

and yeah takeoffs are stam expensive, I wish they weren't, but you can kinda compensate for it by landing in high places, so you can just fall and take off for free

Yeah basically anything with any amount of turnspeed can nip and juke at a steg tail. Pretty much the only carnivore that can't is a Carno. But it's risky because it's a 1-or-2-hit death.

I personally feel that the Gateway map is too big for just 100 players. Most people know where to look for a fight, but if you're just trying to survive, it's usually quite easy - avoid the populated areas.

I think the large advantage of the Troo is the very short grow time. If you get a couple of friends to nest the rest of your friends in, you could be a devastating force.

Deinos can't really mixedpack as much as others. I have been victimized as a Deino by a Cerato/Deino combo before, which meant I couldn't run from a larger Deino by crossing overland, but that was only once. Bear in mind also that Deinos are natural cannibals, which means they not only suffer no downsides from eating their own species, but they are actually on diet for each other. And the diet that they get, protein (or S), is the hardest to get as a Deino.

We also have a massive issue with server crashes and rollbacks. You will very often lose 24 hours of progress randomly. So if you grow a croc one day, you may not have it the next. It's the big bug at the moment.

It's personal choice. For mutations as Deino, I usually run Hydrodynamic, Reniculate Kidneys, and then something that will help me as a fullgrown versus fullgrown croc, like the 'more damage against low health creatures' or 'more damage when you have less hunger'.

Bear in mind that the pack limit for Deino is 2. So you won't be able to all in be in group together unless one of you gets the (frankly, useless) mutation for larger pack size. And if you're all hanging out in the same location, in excess of your pack size, you will appear as a red 'oversize pack' marker on other people's sniff-compass.

I honestly don't know. I've never tested it. But if you're okay with not having nameplates for each other, and you're spread out to cover more ground, which you'll probably want to do as Deino, then you should be okay.

The oversize pack marker is designed to warn people about clan-sized packs of dinos just mega-ganking people. It's a pretty good system.

Every dino has a diet. Diets are protein, carbs and lipids (the symbols and what people call them usually are S, dots and lines, respectively). Eating something that is on your diet gets you the corresponding diet, which gives you stat buffs and extra grow speed. Ideally, you want to have one hexagon of each (there are three diet hexagons).
For instance, Deino has, for S on its diet, Raptors, Diabloceratops, Carnotaurus and Deinos. And frogs, but they because practically useless after a certain size.
So if you want the best diet, you can't just eat one thing over and over.

But if you want to share, you put it on the ground and take bites of it with E, rather than pressing E when you're holding it, which will just swallow the whole thing.
For instance, if a raptor pack takes down a stego, several fullgrown raptors could get their complete diets off the organs, but not if someone eats the whole damn organ.

Yeah, if something is on the ground, E is for eating and G is for picking up or tearing a piece off. If it's in your mouth and you E, you will attempt to swallow the whole thing, which might over-fill your stomach and diets.
Like I said, a raptor pack taking down a stego is going to be a feast. A fullgrown Carno taking down a Troodon is going to have only tiny snack-organs.

Yeah, but... AI is its own special chore. For server performance, it tends to spawn around where players are. So if you're looking for some, you generally want to hang around the same area, not go questing for it. And the amount of AI that spawns is inversely proportional to the number of players on the server. More players, less AI. Sometimes the server can seem to get in a mood and spawn you nothing and starving is a very real possibility.
Especially as a large Deino, where anything short of an adult playable dino won't really fill you up that much.
Or when other players are around, but they're not coming to the water. Or when you're a terrestrial predator, but everything you can find are things that you're not really designed to fight.

That depends on whether those other dinos are communicating. Like I said, you can chat with your own species (and you can hear them talking, because they make a voice call every time they say something in chat) but people could communicate out of game.
Generally you want to strike once and then lay low for a while.
