Unless that information came from the developers themselves, that's most likely false. Information from the developers is also subject to change as the game develops too, but I personally haven't heard any word that rex won't be playable on officials once its completely done

I'm fairly sure the plan is that most species will have AI versions, likely to compensate for population fluctuations caused by players themselves. Rex AI has been on even the old version of the roadmap for quite a long time, so its certainly something that has been planned for, but again, subject to change.
I'd also be highly suspicious of information that comes from content creators, and I'm saying it as a streamer myself- Content creators are much more incentivised to give information that gets clicks and views, not necessarily the truth

Ehhh I mean, it does have its potential problems, but I think its worth the trade off considering the roster. You don't want certain creatures to be unplayable or unable to get their diets at all just because no one is playing something else at the moment. Having AI versions of the playables means there will always be at least some food for carnivores around

Yeah but I do think it would cause eventual issues in of itself if AI was only unplayables- don't want that diet list to be a million miles long. Just having AI versions of the other animals simplifies that a lot, and is a better way to optimize IMO. The more the game has to think about everything you do, the more things that can break and the slower it can become
It is mainly one of those 'we'll have to wait and see' kind of things though, right now it's just teno AI

The counter breaks when there's too many people trying to get in at once, and says the playercount is lower than it actually is because it has issues updating. It's a known issue, Gateway hype has made it especially a problem lately. Keep trying and you will eventually get a slot, but official servers have been mostly full around the clock
