Would anyone have any survival tips to not starve as Deino? I keep dying because fish never spawn, or the few that do cannot sustain me for very long once I get above a ton. I try to find players to eat but every player I encounter seems to be something too big for me to eat, and if not then the simply won’t come close enough to the water.

eh, thats a lame fallback to be honest. People bought the game for what it was advertised to be. You dont sell a person tire promising the other 3 later and then be late on every milestone brought up when talking to them. I get things are hard but the communication and overall management has not been good. This is ignoring the vision the devs have for the game and the vision the players have for the game to be fairly different and it causes some issues with feedback. I love this game but i cant defend the devs on it fully cause all of this pushback is not unwarrented

the issue is we are game devs and already know. To be honest im not rlly a big fan of selling unfinished products in general but i get it and its been pretty normalized. When you show the average person what your game will look like or plan to look like then you better have good comunication on when those things will be done otherwise i dont see any issues with people being upset about it

if they are spending money on your game

the product should already be worth the money they are spending, if you really want to support the game then donate to them in other ways but buys games should not be an investment you have to put in to get your monies worth

I have over 2k hours in this game sadly and i love it. but it isnt good practice to have your reasonings be, you should have looked into it deeper to see how unfinished and misleading the game seems to be. Sure you can blame the customer if you want but you can always also just be more clear about it to them so they dont have to do more research

so, you're on the legacy version of the game. there are no official servers there, and the only way to connect to the unofficials is with their ip (i do not know how to do this. you will have to google it or go to an unofficial servers community discord.)

if you're looking to play evrima, you go to steam, go to settings, betas, then select the evrima branch.

Bonebreak needs to be toned down. The fact that you can basically kill a Stego free while it still has like 4-5k health is crazy. I don't mind that it cannot rapid fire anymore, as it looked ridiculous, but the rest of the roster needs to follow this.

Allo bite speed needs to be toned down by atleast 80% for example

its just a massive nerf, like incredibly massive, and i do think it looks better. but not only did you just lower stegos dps by more than half, running powerswing is now strictly useless. getting baited is now punished almost twice as hard, etc

stegos only hope of winning vs rex was landing running powerswings before you got leg broken, which you always will eventually get, but now you cant do that as youre locked in the animation so long.

Stegos main defense when younger was also running powerswings(spoilers, sitting still in a game where speed is the most valuable stat is a really REALLY dumb idea) but now you cant do that. you use running powerswing and land it on a cera? congrats you just got bit by 4 other ceras for more than 4 seconds lmao

also nuked stegos skill expression, as before you could use powerswings to bait people into going for your head only to use the alt attacks to move your head and headshot them, just isnt possible anymore

Also, Rex defying stuns needs to go, that will also help a lot

Because sometimes it can just walk through/walk away with a stun, like I think sometimes if you activate the ambush speed, it just removes the stun completely

Something I've worked on that maybe one day when mod support for The Isle comes is something called Threat Music. When you encounter a creature, depending on its age & size & if it's in a pack, will proceed to play more layers of the song so it sounds more Chaotic. If the threat calls back up and more pack members join, more layers of the song will join, increasing the threat.

This is really nice.
The only issue with multiplayer games is having dynamic music.
People have tried it before but the problem is that dynamic music is really hard to do in a multiplayer scenario without it becoming very unbalanced.

Like, it can become very OP if the music reacts to threats, nearby players, player counts, or other statistical things.
Meta players especially can use that information really easily, but even normal players would realise, “oh, someone’s nearby.”

For example, imagine you’re hiding in a bush.
Maybe the solution is “only activate the music if the player can actually see the enemy,” but then what counts as seeing?
If the bush has little holes in it, technically the camera can see through it. So does that count? Does the music activate if even one pixel is visible? Is it based on the player camera? Line of sight? Actual visibility?

And if you simplify it so it ignores little gaps and stuff, then it can start feeling clunky or unnatural instead.
So it becomes this weird balancing problem, in-game balancing and practicality balancing.

But honestly, I still think more advanced dynamic music is important, especially for single-player.
I think you should definitely keep working on it, and also learn Unreal Engine’s sound system so you can actually code and program these systems properly, because that’ll probably be the biggest thing overall.
