This morning the administration just revoked all protections for the once highly protected Northeast Canyons and Seamount Marine National Monument which is the ONLY protected national monument in the Atlantic.
This monument contains a vast diversity of sea life, this includes: 10 dolphin species, 7 large whale species, and 6 medium whale species. A unique spotlight to specific species that live here are: sperm whales (endangered), sei whales (endangered), fin whale (endangered), and 3 species of beaked whale. The canyons are also home to a variety of fish species. These species include: 591 unspecified deep-sea fish species, sword fish, a variety of tuna species, flounders, hakes, skates, ocean pout, grenadiers, and many eel species. Other marine animals that rely on this habitat are sharks that need the deep sea corals to attach their egg casings to.
This monument also has some of the most unique corals in the world, this being the deep sea coral. These corals are endemic to the Atlantic and due to very low light in their environment they grow extremely slow causing them to be placed on the IUCN Red list and listed as endangered.

These protections being revoked from the monument allow commercial fisheries to begin fishing here. Comercial fishing to this place would be detrimental to the oh so fragile environment that has taken decades to get to this point.
If comercial fishing happens here, most of these animals found here, some of these animals who are ONLY found here, will disappear.
As humans, we will suffer with the loss of such a biodiverse area if we allow this to happen. Yes it will affect are day to day life if we lose any keystone species in this monument.
