Giant hoe tusker (Deinotherium giganteum) is the European species of the Deinotheruim genus of large extinct elephant-like proboscidean that appeared in the Middle Miocene and survived until the Early Pleistocene. Although superficially resembling modern elephants, they had notably more flexible necks, limbs adapted to a more cursorial lifestyle as well as tusks that curved downwards and back. In addition, their tusks did not emerge from the maxilla as in elephants but from the mandible. Deinotherium was a widespread genus, ranging from East Africa to the south to Europe and east to the Indian subcontinent. They were browsing animals with a diet mainly consisting of leaves, and they most likely died out as forested areas were gradually replaced by open grassland during the latter half of the Neogene.

Range :

Several key adaptations suggest that Deinotherium was a folivorous, browsing proboscidean that preferred open woodland habitats and fed on the leaves of the tree canopy. In Asia D. indicum has been associated with wet and warm, low-energy woodland[21] and in Portugal deinotheriid remains were found in regions corresponding with moist, tropical to subtropical woodland conditions likened to modern Senegal.[2] A browsing lifestyle is supported by the inclination of the occiput that gives Deinotherium a slightly more raised head posture, and their teeth, which strongly resemble those of modern tapirs, animals that predominantly feed on fruits, flowers, bark and leaves. Their limbs show some notable differences to Prodeinotherium, allowing for a more agile mode of locomotion and allowing for easier travel across open landscapes in the search of food, which coincides with the widespread breakup of forests and expansion of grasslands during the time Deinotherium lived in Europe. Fossil finds from the Austrian Gratkorn locality [22] and the Mainz Basin in Germany indicate that Deinotherium was not a permanent resident in some areas it inhabited. In Austria it has been suggested that they traversed areas on a regular basis, while in Germany there is evidence for the animals range shifting with changing climatic conditions, present during subtropical climate conditions and absent in sub-boreal conditions.[13]

One of the most enigmatic features of Deinotherium are their downturned tusks and their function. Research conducted on Deinotherium suggests that these tusks were likely not used for digging, nor are they sexually dimorphic, leaving use in feeding as their most likely function. In evrima individual players can have varying stats. Will probably get even more complicated once elder and perk system is in. Currently your stats are determined by your diet and there's quite a few combinations

Palaeoloxodon falconeri is an extinct species of dwarf elephant from the Middle Pleistocene of Sicily and Malta. It is amongst the smallest of all dwarf elephants at only one metre in height. A member of the genus Palaeoloxodon, it derived from a population of the mainland European straight-tusked elephant (Palaeoloxodon antiquus).

Range :

This island-bound elephant is considered to be an example of insular dwarfism. In a 2015 study a composite adult male specimen MPUR/V n1 was estimated to measure 96.5 cm (3 ft 2.0 in) in shoulder height about 305 kg (672 lb) in weight, a composite adult female specimen MPUR/V n2 80 cm (2 ft 7.5 in) in shoulder height and about 168 kg (370 lb) in weight, and a composite newborn male specimen MPUR/V n3 33 cm (1 ft 1.0 in) in shoulder height and about 6.7 kg (15 lb) in weight.[6] A later 2019 volumetric study revised the weight estimates for the adult male and adult female to about 250 kg (550 lb) and 150.5 kg (332 lb) respectively. The newborn male of the species was estimated in the same study to weigh 7.8 kg (17 lb).[5] Female members of the species were tuskless.[1] Histology demonstrates that despite their small size, individuals of P. falconeri grew very slowly, reaching maturity at around 15 years of age, with some individuals reaching a lifespan of 68 years, comparable to full-sized elephants.[7] Dental microwear suggests that P. falconeri was a mixed feeder (both browsing and grazing).

Sicily and Malta during the time of P. falconeri exhibited a depauperate fauna, with the only other mammal species on the islands being the cat-sized giant dormouse Leithia as well as the giant dormouse Maltamys, the otter Nesolutra, and an extinct species of shrew belonging to Crocidura.[9]

American alligators are apex predators and consume fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Hatchlings feed mostly on invertebrates. They play an important role as ecosystem engineers in wetland ecosystems through the creation of alligator holes, which provide both wet and dry habitats for other organisms. Throughout the year (in particular during the breeding season), American alligators bellow to declare territory, and locate suitable mates.[11] Male American alligators use infrasound to attract females. Eggs are laid in a nest of vegetation, sticks, leaves, and mud in a sheltered spot in or near the water. Young are born with yellow bands around their bodies and are protected by their mother for up to one year.

While noticeable in very mature specimens, the sexual dimorphism in size of the American alligator is relatively modest among crocodilians.[47] For contrast, the sexual dimorphism of saltwater crocodiles is much more extreme, with mature males nearly twice as long as and at least four times as heavy as female saltwater crocodiles.[48] Given that female American alligators have relatively higher survival rates at an early age and a large percentage of given populations consists of immature or young breeding American alligators, relatively few large mature males of the expected mature length of 3.4 m (11 ft 2 in) or more are typically seen.

Color:
Dorsally, adult American alligators may be olive, brown, gray, or black. However, they are on average one of the most darkly colored modern crocodilians (although other alligatorid family members are also fairly dark), and can be reliably be distinguished by color via their more blackish dorsal scales against crocodiles.[23] Meanwhile, their undersides are cream-colored.[50] Some American alligators are missing or have an inhibited gene for melanin, which makes them albino. These American alligators are extremely rare and almost impossible to find in the wild. They could only survive in captivity, as they are very vulnerable to the sun and predators.

American alligators primarily bask on shore, but also climb into and perch on tree limbs to bask if no shoreline is available. This is not often seen, since if disturbed, they quickly retreat back into the water by jumping from their perch.

I need an opinion on this artwork I'm working on

I'm trying to draw Ichthyovenator but I can't quite figure out the sitting pose

I can't figure out if the proportions of the legs is wrong, the overall size, or the placement--and I can't seem to figure out the arms until I get the leg right

I'm wondering if it's too outward/extended from the body to be sitting

I'd normally have access to material that could help me such as the animation viewer in JWE2 for various spinosaurid sitting poses but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for right now
