Take it with a grain of salt water, but when I got it last (which was some time ago by now) I think I'd get down to 0% then drink from a water source right nearby. Took a few times.

Basking essentially gives the Croc Energy, Helps Digestion, Improves the Immune System,

Since there is no mechanics apart from the current in game equivalent of energy that brings it down to stamina only, so Resting = Stamina <> Basking = Energy same thing.

By implementing your idea they would have to remove Resting in favour of basking then to only be allowed to bask during the sunny part of the day.

Sometimes sacrifices have to be made. unfortunately that's one of them.

and then you have to consider you're ONLY gonna see a shadow if the quetz is between the sun and you.

Ok, so once again why would you ever become cold for food drain? By doing so you make yourself unable to get food, and thus the whole point of conserving it pointless. Its not like a creature is going to see you crawl up the bank and start basking the second they get close to the water and stay there until you can grab them. And on the other hand, should a deino be regularly sunbathing to keep its temperature up, it is far, far more likely to be spotted, which also makes it unable to hunt
