because they arent active. play a lot, find out where they are, or the easiest solution is looking at an online map.

if you see herbivore food though, thats a pretty big tell if you're in a zone or not. some food still spawns here and there outside of zones, but for the most part, you'll be in a zone.

the tactic is to play galli, dryo, maia, some fast herbivore and sniff out where plants are too. you'll figure out where zones are pretty quick

No the size of the fish would change upon being killed. Like you’d see a large fish in the water, snatch it, and it shrinks. But its food value would still be that of a much larger fish

Hence why sometimes a tiny fish a fraction of your size cannot be swallowed because its worth double the capacity of your stomach
