The way gateway is layed out, swamp is an incredibly out of the way area to go to. Rarely is anything actively going to pass through. So yes Austros and Barys could live in the swamp, but they aren’t engaging with anything else other than themselves

The Issue with gateway
It’s less that it’s annoying, more so it breaks up the flow of travel. Highlands is an uphill area. The space used for going uphill is never going to be lived upon. Everything funnels into the center area. The uphill area shouldn’t be in the flat smack center of the map

Well it’s only half the middle so what’s below highlands? A single path you can take if you don’t feel like going through Riverdelta, an area most animals are not designed to live in (similar to how not many things to are designed for the swamp). Example Dilo, Herrera, Carno, heck even Maia & stego don’t swim well.

With the location of the dome forming on a cliff, it makes traversing into the swamp just annoying and out of the way. The same can be applied to NE lake. The volcano acts as a giant roadblock you have to go around just to be in a corner of the map.

When looking at the middle of the map you have a few options of travel. Go uphill to highlands leaving all that uphill area in the middle of the map. towards west rail which is around the dome, or go to Riverdelta/that one path. Theres that one canyon but that area is fine imo since it funnels players on one of two paths (above or below) because unlike Riverdelta, the canyon isn’t a slog to traverse through for most of the roster

But it is though for cutting through the middle of the map. Uphill area is not used for living, it’s purely travel. Everything funnels into highlands. So if you don’t want to go through highlands you have to go to Riverdelta, an area that like I said is not designed for a fair amount of animals. Which is why there is a single path you are able to take on the edge of delta between it and highlands

I think deinos revamp could use an incredibly slow food drain but a much lower swim speed so its faster around the 25-50% growth but slows down the older it gets, I think a unique speed-growth curve would suit deino since its playstyle is far more unique than most creatures.

Making deinos slower the older they get would also need to come with better underwater foliage and murkier water, having deinos depend on lying still and waiting fits their niche far better both for ambushing other deinos instead of being able to chase them down and have an advantage constantly and ambushing creatures on land, the current map sucks for deinos since it forces them to play in a way that doesnt really fit a large slow gator
