The elder system is not micromanaging. The type of stuff im talking about is like in bob where you constantly minmax your growth buffs. Eat comfort plants, drink clean water, find shelter etc.

Hmm ok maybe the debuffs would be incredibly small until you get into extreme temperatures. Or depending on what you play. Like if you play as a deinocheirus which is big and has feathers to keep warm you will probably handle the heat worse than a troodon which is small and scaly.

Main faves are World of Warcraft, Minecraft, and Balatro, but I like to very frequently take a shot at early access and small indie games now and again, and can say with confidence that The Isle isn't really anything out of the ordinary here other than how frequent the devs interact with the community and give us sneak peaks far in advance

3/4 you listed are owned by incredibly massive companies who have budgets that far exceed The Isle's- that's not particularly a fair comparison on that alone, nevermind that structurally and genre wise, they are incredibly different. Losing in Overwatch, a competitive PVP game, is very different than here.

Point being: Whenever you are about to say "Other games do x thing", one of the things you need to ask yourself is if your example is from a Triple A studio or a small indie game. They're entirely different beasts, with entirely different ways they go about things.
