Are you aware that allos are, in fact, not dominant at all in any balanced ecosystem?
They die a lot more than they kill.
Omnis, the other major pinner, is not dominant either.

Officials are not balanced environments cause there's too many allos and rexes.
If you get an unofficial where there's several of each species, you'll see that every dino can defend themselves or run away in almost all encounters.

Allo is appropriately strong for its size.

In a 1v1, Diablo absolutely demolishes an Allo.

Cerato and Tenonto can both just run away
So can Carno.

Maia can either lowkey beat you up, or again, just run away.

And before you bring up growth, seriously, stop.
Growth isn't an excuse, because a vast majority of the animals in game are legitimately useless and defenseless against bigger animals than themselves.

A young Allo is defenseless against an Adult Cera, and he's also just basically doomed.
Are we gonna remove Cera's ability because of that?

I would say the best argument for and against a mechanic in the game is.

1. Is it fun (Can either side find fun in the mechanic to want to keep using it)
2. Does the mechanic help with a problem the game gives you to solve (Eg. Drinking water solves the issue of losing water)
3. Does the mechanic reinforce the general vibe/feel/"point" of the game.
   If the answer is No to everything the mechanic in my opinion is bad. If any are yes, Fix the parts that are a no.

And then you move on to the next learning problem, then the next

We can always come up with ideas to make the mechanic more fun or engaging for both sides. I do this, you do that.
One argument would be if the game was solo player with CPUs vs the player, what would we want to help us deal with pins, and what would we hate the CPU doing if it were pinned. Interesting argument.

Yes but dieno Herra and cerato all need this ability. It is there playstyle (I think it should play longer to vomit too) . And stuns are just worse (better) pins

Pin removes the "immunity" that large dinos have walking around thinking the smaller roster around them cant touch them.
It's one of the very few ways that allows you to punch up and subdue something that would usually just oneshot you in a regular fight with lmb attacks.
It's also the only way a slower creature can ambush and kill a fast creature (otherwise you're just getting one bite and then they run).

As for "fitting the vibe", well pinning is the most natural way any animal whether today or in the past hunts.

Bleed in general is very weak in the game.
There was a brief period at allos release where it's bleed was high and everyone complained so much that they nerfed it. Then allos started using pin more and now ppl complain of pinslop.
Point is, ppl will always always complain about what they die to the most.

Claw attack is a lot more fair for sure but it is insanely good right now, Tenos get bled out in like 2 hits, Diablos in like 3 or 4 and and the rest probably around the same thing besides the apexes. Along with Allos rapid bite speed.

They can rack up the bleed on you before you can even blink most times lmao.

You gotta bite open the bodies before you can pull organs and you gotta be a certain weight to pull organs. Press E a bunch of times over a body to open it then if you're big enough press g to pick up the organs

If u can pick the body up, u hold left mouse and drag it around like turrning left and right very quickly, if no u have to spamm E till u open the belly and u sniff organs then u press G to grab them

Rex isnt Canni by default tho so if u dont have canni mutation u will still get muscle spam

Delta's certainly going to be a lot more active, but I think that's a good thing. A deino won't want to be near a spino, so that will force it into other less-popular areas like Water Access, which may be inhabited by the other semi-aquatics also looking to avoid spino, which should hopefully make them more populated by spreading the playerbase out a bit more.
Highlands will probably be a deino-free zone when spino comes though, because it's too far from other water sources.

There's always the ocean for the semi-aquatics, too I'm quite looking forward to the expansion of that side of the ecosystem.

Its just about knowing the map and usual travel areas. you can avoid the hot areas while youre growing and even if you have to pass through them theres ways to greatly diminish the risks of being seen/running into something. its not a 100% safe grow ofc but its not the impossible daunting task some people seem to try to make it

The one time i got to adult i had to hide in a cave i dragged food near for 4 hours. Only time i went out was for water or to get more food. I didnt drag food into the cave because things would smell it and the entrance was still big enough for things the size of a cerato.

Evrima's entire differentiating factor from legacy is to not be simple. For dinos to have abilities. Not just click-attacks, all of which are one dimensional in nature (flank / tail ride and click then run circles and repeat).

Pin serves a purpose rather than just being a balancing act for allo. It's needed to control 2 specific roster populations: solo apexes and fast runners.

Pin removes the "immunity" that large dinos have walking around thinking the smaller roster around them cant touch them.
It's one of the very few ways that allows you to punch up and subdue something that would usually just oneshot you in a regular fight with lmb attacks.
You can talk about how amazing allos claw and bite speed is all you like, but it doesn't hold a candle to a single alt attack by rex or trike or stego.

Pin is also the only way a slower creature can ambush and kill a fast creature (otherwise you're just getting one bite and then the fast dino runs away).

Hear me out guys, rex should only pin larger creatures with its crush after knocking it over with its headbutt (stationary if 50-75% of its weight) and it would need to do a running headbutt if its 75% to 100% of its weight in order for a crush to actually pin it down to the floor. And of course anything lower than 50% of its weight, it wouldnt need to do a headbutt and can just crush and pin it down ambush style like it does right now. This would force rex to have to stun a creature/knock it over before being able to use its insanely strong ability.
