theres plenty of ways. you can have it be rocky and hard to navigate for large animals, so you can expect smaller more nimble things in there, dense trees but a lack of bushes is another thing we dont have, maybe fix that tube thats broken in swamp and allow aquatic things to get in there (not that this really changes the biome feeling but id like if they did this) one thing it has going for it naturally is arboreal creatures will like being in there, and quetz will probably like it if theres no bush vegetation, so it can drop of trees and grab things easily, and also the lack of large things to catch it. heck you could even have "burrows" just in the map there. like dug under rocks or trees. theres so many ways someone whos practiced in map design (not me) could create a unique feeling forest

I think the DEVs don't know where to go with the game. On one hand, they're following the dinosaur survival path, or on the other hand, they're focusing more on the lore with animals like the Strains and monsters like The Mother (or something like that).

The Isle is an innovative game with the theme of dinosaur survival, but I don't think that's the game's focus, and I think the developers miss out on a lot of potential by putting bizarre animals in the game.

Any carnivore seeing a trike or anky, let alone the sauropods should immediately do a 180 turn and leave the area immediately unless they have a whole ass hunting pack. Basically was stego was, a total brute that can send anything to their demise but slow enough that only people foolish enough to approach suffer the consequences

Trike is legit a none-threat to Rex unless the Rex actively makes it one.
Which is why "add apex herbivores" doesn't change or help with anything, because Rex or whatever carnivore, just doesn't mess with them, and then just opts to dominate everything else.

If the Trike starts defending every herbivore around, then obv that's different.
But mixed grouping in general is also really cringe, so I personally don't account for that
