Actually those were meant to be just small little emergency shelters. Genuinely imagined for no more than one person, but grew to the concept of housing an entire team (4) that may be stranded for any reason, so it's basically a square cement room with cots, footlockers, a few shelves that are meant to be stocked with essentials, map on the wall with the *YOU ARE HERE on the island with a landline rotary phone embedded next alongside the directory of DIAL X FOR [Island Location Here] || Dial 9 for East Harbor Master. Dial 0 for OLYMPUS. Dial 7 for Botany/Other Local Facility that replaces it in some other island (You get the point), and a simple single hanging bulb for a light.

No secret dungeons. Just the waiting point for a pickup because something went wrong in the field

The mods are rather shallow for the most part. If I was to take inspiration it likely wouldn't be from there. Even the more robust mods are purely additional. They add in interesting and impressive ways, but at the end of the day there isn't a single mod that I've found that changes the identity and type of game that Ark is.

They don’t have them, then can grow them out (at a cost of something like mobility because more weight), and then reduce/detach them when not desired (growing them wouldn’t be very fast, more like a limb regrowing)

Maybe not change the game itself, ark might be too big for mods like that but there’s mod like the paleo mods that change the functionality of creatures in subtle ways that are purely custom based on user preference

Think the only limitation to game modding is core features, but im sure you could get modding to tweak them to your advantage

If you are hoping for a fairly high stakes, yet low pressure open world game where you can play as a dinosaur... then yeah. Go for it.

If you're willing to work through the inevitable bugs and barriers, it is in active development, but things do break, it's an excellent game, but very much a work in progress with rough patches at time, currently I'd say it's in one of the best states it's been in.

When finished, it's going to be a lot for the game just being $20, so if it's worth the money, yes, if it's your type of game depends on what you're looking for

Yea burrowing isnt in which is its iconic feature but its capabilities of being able to outmaneuver faster carnivores with its agility is not to be underestimated with and is a really thrilling experience if you get really good at it
