This is unironically my prediction for the "humans"

I've played games where a majority of classes are melee and interacting with ranged classes Is Never Fun.

The current version of Spiro is just 3 plains duct taped together. Each one has notable POIs in their center that just create hotspots. The rest of the map is effectively dead. Its a very large, flat map, with no segmentation, nothing to influence the hotspots, harsh contrasts and little biome variation, every water source just being a bland river to give deino a chance to ambush, and lacking any reason to do anything other than sit in the mosh pits.

The early versions of Spiro did not have this problem, but it started, and only got significantly worse since Update 3. The state it is in now has awful lighting, awful environments, no map design to speak of, the worst hotspots out of any map in the history of the game, and still retains the issue of 99% of the map being dead, no truly interesting points of interest, and herbivore gameplay being god awful.

The way the game was balanced felt like it was moving further and further away from more skill determined outcomes and more into using your funky ability or character trait to instantly win the fight.

The days of long drawn out battles with variable outcomes were long dead at that point and my gut instinct was that it would get worse. My gut instinct was correct, as pounce to pin was added shortly after that point lol

I think I'd agree with that. This might catch flak but for as much as people hate PoT cause "dinosaur special ability mmo combat" the isle doesn't feel totally inherently different to me on that front. It's just presented in a more aesthetically pleasing way.

Its far more elegantly designed than PoTs combat system, and the movement in general feels way better but at its core they are both practically the same.

I'm not saying I'm gonna, but I would be interested in a more soulslike approach to combat. By that I don't mean dinosaurs doing dodge rolls, but things like lock on, poise, critical hits on staggers and knockdowns, etc.

Would also like to see more attempts at implementing a unique health system. Rather than just... weight = hp, and hp just being a linear value that drops and then you die. Something like staggered health bars, locational health, armor values, etc.

All things that aren't inherently good, obviously, but I would love to see a team experiment with more funky ideas instead of just... bite em til they die.

Again, nothing wrong with hit it until it dies as a combat system its just... maybe someone can do something different?

Okay, tbh I think I was getting bottlenecked by the cpu on that thing, and I was connected to a 4k monitor, but it got slightly worse performance than my desktop 3090, at around 37fps at 4k, everything maxed except materials.

Worth noting this will change wildly depending on resolution, the specs you are looking at, the year it released, and usage of things like DLSS.

I don't plan on using 4k so I can deal with that, but everything maxxed 4k and still getting 37 fps, that must mean that with the goals I have for it then it can run the game just fine.

I'm looking at intel core ultra 9-285h, it uses system ram instead of Vram with is strange, but with 32 gb ram and the fact the game can handle my current 16 gb ram it should be fine.

For 1.7k$.... this seems like the the deal of the next 2 years for me
