Thats not really how game design works.
Rules in this case would be unreasonable, staffing the team, maintaining each server, etc. would be prohibitively difficult to manage. Not to mention hardly enforceable, you can track individual players as they switch slots but you cannot decisively prove they had ill intent while doing so.

Would it be against the rules if one of your buddies was like "hey there is a hunt over here, switch to your rex" or would that just be considered normal play.

Irregardless of the outcome that is hardly a sustainable way to enforce things.

If something can be enforced, mitigated, or otherwise dissuaded through mechanic design, it is a designers job to take that road. It is something that would be problematic for a few players who just want to switch slots, but would mitigate an issue that would be detrimental for the entire game.

The pros firmly outweigh the cons in this case. A long cooldown prevents abuse of a single client, while ensuring that a player doesn't get their time wasted. The goal shouldn't be to allow players to hotswitch between playables, as that isn't even the primary benefit of having multiple slots.

Because those few... and honestly they aren't even that few, can do a lot more damage with that freedom than normal players would be benefited. The game does not need to hold your hand, if you died, that is likely your fault, a timer is just another form of punishment, with the added benefit of preventing abuse.

The main utilization of player slots should be seen at the start of a session, not mid session.

Increase the density of interaction, enforce engagement, force players to be where they are most tested, but in a way that is fair, not up to random chance. Challenge from survival comes from the players decision making and responsiveness, not the strength of their dinosaur or an arbitrary checklist.

If survival was challenging, consistent, and rewarding, longer growth times would be completely unnecessary. Because the amount of key events that you would experience would be far higher, leading to a more satisfactory end result. Feeling as though you've overcome the challenge and lived a long life should be the goal, carrying over that momentum into another run, another growth, is just the cherry on top.

That’s true but one thing that has been harmed by the elder system is that you don’t have time for unique situations to occur that are specific to that life

Since you’re always running with no time to relax in one area. Most life’s are just a massive marathon throughout the map. I don’t feel like adding more stuff would fix this feeling since the time you have to achieve more engaging goals would still be too short.

You should have time to just exist and enjoy the environment. Time for players to find you just relaxing as an early sub adult Diablo.

I do think more time would aid as a whole, but more so in the sense that more time allows for niche partitioning to be actually implemented and tweaked to work and make those young stages more fun

Rex is able to be “3 animals in 1” because its long growth time means people spend a substantial amount of time in each growth stage and those growth stages are actually geared towards being their own experience

A juvie dryo is really just built as adult dryo but worse, but there’s no point in really expanding on and improving the juvie dryo gameplay when the animal spend at most like 15 minutes as a juvie, if it was significantly longer however THEN there’d be an actual value in expanding and improving on it

Longer growth times across the board would be nice not because they solve an specific issue but because they give space for those issues to be actually worked on

Nah, the requirements themselves are the problem. Meeting checklist requirements just boils it down to a formula, that is not survival. Survival is consistently making the right decisions, not visiting areas.

In an ideal world the games mechanics would be adjusted to provide more nuanced information, then the elder system could be more about a consistent trend of strong behavior rather than a list. Adding a low/medium/high result to elders would also go a long way. A low state to be avoided, a medium state which most players would achieve, and a higher state that would actively reward the player for overachieving. But obviously mechanics would need to be adjusted in many ways to measure that.

To my mind, everything in a Trike's kit should REALLY make you reconsider thinigs and weigh if the fight is worth it. It can't really run away, so it needs to disincentivize people from even trying it.

It's basically the "Grand Prize", it'll feed any carnivore for an age, even Rex. It should be appropriately hard to handle by everything.

but even if you dont get prime, you can entomb at 100% and restart while keeping all the mutations you picked

what you tryin to improve your fps more then, you chillin with that, id say if anything lower the shadow quality so you can get you fps to not dip below 60 fps, but honestly anymore then that and its kinda pointless, dont make that much of a difference to reduce your quality that much

cuz if you really want more fps, reduce the resolution

1680 really aint that bad

sometimes my game switches to the 1680 and i dont even notice at first

I think a lot of rex players get cocky in thinking they'll bone break someone on the first bite lol, this is why I hate it so much, its such a easy mode cope out ability that has players almost completely reliant on it, it shouldnt be a guarantee thing on just a few bites, it should be like gambling were you MIGHT get a bone break but the chances heighten if you get them the to injured screen and like around 20% stam or something.
