Servers have a line for "allow replays" so you may be able to record and then replay in a spectator mode like the old battlefield games
legacy carno,dryo and stego brodcast are better then evirma's
not just the broadcasts. legacy juvie carno 4 call just isnt quite as good now...
it was so perfect, why they gotta change it?
the evirma brodcast for carno and stego are just reversed and dryo has a hiss noise to it which I dont like

I think stego having its sprint speed lowered to a weightier speedwalk would be fine as long as it is compensated with a hefty stamina pool buff because its already boring as fuck to travel with

It wouldn't be the exact same as the safelogging mechanic, I think you would be able to see what's going on but the camera would be locked where you place it. And I feel it would generally encourage some players to be in a pack, rather than eat eachother half the time

Honestly not a huge fan of the “gliding Velo” idea- if anything, let Velo use RPR and then parachute down with its wings for reduced/inconsequential fall damage
Skowfall would be nice, personally i want velo to be a sort of all-terrain dino. Good at everything but not great at anything

Diablo III for example took 11 years, and we are talking about Blizzard, so..
You have people to actually develop your game, and asshole devs who try to sabotage it or don’t have the qualities required to actually develop something

I don't think it's bait, just late-stage Dunning-Kruger effect. You see it in way more industries than game development, but games have lots of vocal, inexperienced, and passionate people so it's more obvious. That and people getting medical advice from Facebook.
This is all offtopic, but if someone thinks AE is deliberately wasting time, remember everyone on the Dev team is drawing a wage from Dondi's bank account - potentially to the tune of half a million a year - so ask what the possible motivation would be to waste time.

@gilded jacinth Weekly Recap could be more expansive and informative, but I like your idea. It would be nice if they say the issues they're having that week, how things are going for each category of their mechanic, system, dinosaur (Animation, sound, mechanic etc..). Sometimes they lack on communication and only answer something like "oh, it's everything okay", but how it is okay? How are things going? Any issues? Show us some cool and new stuff to tease us.
If only recap had more informative stuff about their progress, instead of publicing how many tasks they did that week, would be awesome, we would know the progress of that week, what they are exactly doing. I like DevBlog a lot, but it's only 1 per month and a lot of things there sometimes are not even in the upcoming Update.

Think of it this way. Diets are the very first gameplay loop that they’ve ever ironed out to the fullest. A mistake could destroy that and throw off the balance
Well, on Roadmap they tasked a lot of things on 7 July and we only got news on that 21 days later, when they tasked Funcionality Testing
And I'm not complaining taking their time to work on each mechanic
Oh yeah, when functionality testing is complete that usually means a bunch of things will be ticked off, and remember, every task is a multitude of things, not just one. Take locomotion for example. It’s walking, trotting, running, crouching, crouch-walking, etc.

I think the reason this is taking about as long as it did for update 3 to come out is because it's 2 brand new systems they're working on. Update 5 should be extremely quick comparitively as legacy skin system and nest system are already pretty good and functional. They'll just have to add small differences but I don't see much need in changing it too much.
Even last week wasn't that informative (they put the tasks they had on trello and devblog)
I miss something more since they will only tick off tasks on trello when all (or almost) tasks of each category is done
the time it takes to complete an update doesn't matter when the job is done right.
to know in a more real way what they are working on, the difficulties they are having is what is really needed.
when updates 2, 3 were in development the updates the community received more often than they are now.

And update 4 has far more than update 3 has ever released

And released during the late-end of April
2 was released in the beginning of December and 3 was late April
the devs then took a break, and after that worked on hotfixes

Teno honestly could probably demolish it, as Carno and Teno are pretty much equals
since a larger field of view makes the animals appear smaller in comparison

If Pachy gets the first hit on a Utah that Utah is crippled and will die. If Utah pounces Pachy and Pachy doesn’t counter-pounce the Utah in time, the Pachy is dead.

But it’s to counter and prevent the Utah from pouncing it
If Pachy counters the pounce on time, it would knock the Utah to the ground.

animals with white details like regional spots and stripes can still camouflage a lot of times, i don't think white should really be so heavily restricted, only to main colour areas like the body base. same could go for some other 'exposing' colours like orange

@steep warren while I like your idea I think that it would be functionally the same as venom. Infection could be done the same way as necrosis. Your line of thinking seems to line up with how everyone thought komodo dragons and all monitor lizards had necrotic bacteria in their mouths but where proven wrong. In a sense it's the same kind of thinking as featherless raptors. So I'm gonna have to disagree and say we should use venom instead as it lines up with actual monitor lizards and is one of the few ways this series could be seen as taking a step forward instead of a step back or ignoring science for the rule of cool.
Rather than tying infection to megalanias bite why not have it be the general way infection works, with predators being able to find you more easily if you are infected
megalania should have an anticoagulent venom that leaves an easy to follow trail due to the steady bloodflow
if we get infections it should be from things like cerato and rugops bites, taco quills, etc

@stoic lichen exactly, I forgot to mention pachy since it wasn’t on my mind but yeah, it wouldn’t have any bone breaking ability, just a stun to give giga the upper hand against something it may not be able to catch or stand up to fully. The charge idea is more going for a “you have to time this right or you’re going to mess up and lose the kill or get yourself into a bad situation” so charging at a rex and only charging your ram for a second is going to get you a one way ticket back to selection screen, since you didn’t take the time to use your charge properly. Also, when I say charge I don’t mean literally charging your opponent, I mean charging the impact force, so you could do it while idle or while in motion, but it wouldn’t be anything similar to pachy, no BB and little damage.

Rework the dodge and give them a dash and they would be fine with a speed nerf. The biteforce is high but the hitbox is tiny - make leg hitzones 0.5 or 0.25x dam and they wouldn't be able to kill big stuff

dryo needs a speed nerf, between the fact that is has an insane amount of stamina, insane maneuverability, and its the second fastest dino, its a low risk dino that is honestly boring to play atm. The only thing that can catch it is carno and dryo can out juke an adult carno with ease.

Dryos are so safe around mediocre Utah packs it's genuinely funny. You just run amongst them and dodge when one tries to pounce you. The only thing stopping them being a Utah killing machine is their tiny bite hitbox. Even lowering their blood quantity would be a reasonable change

was scrolling through and saw this, wanted to reply because I think it's a good jumping off point for an important fact: camoflauge doesn't always need to hide something, just make it unclear what it is. Bright colors can work as camoflauge if they make it impossible to identify the outline of a creature. The human eye is very good at picking out familiar shapes, so even if you see a dinosaur, if the shape is obscured by patterns your brain might not register it as a dinosaur. Plus if you can't ID the dino you might be more hesistant to engage because you're not sure if it's a good matchup, and that could buy time for the player to escape.
I've evaded detection while hatched in as some truly garish color schemes by just clipping my head into a rock or the ground, and that interrupts the familiar silhouette of a dino enough to the point a lot of players just don't notice

@maiden anvil because fractures are locational now, you can't really have one bar to show how broken your bones are, it could be there for something like legacy, where it shows that you do have a broken bone. but fractures are locational so just showing one isnt enough. it would be better if you went to the character screen your legs could highlight a certain color (yellow for not yet broken but damaged, and red for broken) if you had hurt legs, same goes for body and head fractures

@maiden anvil yes I’ve suggested a similar idea, with body temp and nourishment and hydration. Except that I’ve suggested that stomach volume aka hunger should be Indepedent of nutrition, and food and water ought to be absorbed from the stomach to refil nutrition and hydration meters.

honestly i dont think i've ever needed ai to survive on evrima unless i was a deino or ptera, juvie players are everywhere and super easy to kill

it's possible but definitely not something you should be going for lol. if you do happen to come across a dead fish you can eat it if you want to but if you do see one by the water its most likely bait

Bucking already exists, and honestly with the press of a button being able to not only invalidate pounce but insta kill a utah would be kinda bullshit
Also if one single utah jumps out you're vulnerable the whole time you're on the ground (and I think a stego would take a lot of time getting up after a roll) so it's kinda lame
How about instead of dropping on the ground and risking getting swarmed, you can run to a tree or a rock/mountainside and scrape the raptor off hurting him in the process. The raptor would either hit the tree and fall off or be crushed by your weight, friction, and scraping against solid stone
Maybe you can even just slam into the wall if the raptor is on you or near a wall. Of course slamming into a wall is going to hurt you a bit but not as much as the raptor
Anybody find the official numbers for damage and health that people have made? The wiki is totally wrong (I'm on a server I host testing it)
Carno bite to a deino body does about 5.67% damage - if Deino has 8k hp, that means 450 damage from carno bite
If deinos have 6k, that's more like 340 damage
Wiki says 8k and 300 damage
If deinos do do 500 damage with their bite than they have 6200 hp
I seem to remember someone hard-confirming that Utahs have 1k HP, and a deino does exactly 75% damage to a utah body
i believe weight plays a part in damage

the old damage formula - (attacker weight / defender weight) * bite damage isn't correct either, assuming both deino has 8k and stego has 6k
deino does 8.3% to deino and 12.45% to stego
(also: alt bites do 50% more damage than normal bites)
