So ive been having an issue where clicking on play through steam doesn't work and it will not start the game. Eventually the option to press play will show up again. In the simplest form, the game won't start at all. Any way to fix this?

Tried getting both legacy and evrima on my computer at once by installing legacy first, creating a desktop shortcut called "The Isle Legacy" and then installing evrima. I've been successful with this before. Evrima runs fine but since the moment I installed evrima I've been getting this error on legacy. Any advice? I'm not sure what I did differently this time

hello! i’m having a lot of problems with the same issue others are having. the isle was and has been running perfectly as of yesterday, i never had issues with it. but when i go to start it up later that day the game plays the intro then stays on a black screen, which always closes with a fatal error message. i have tried.. uninstalling on steam, completely deleting the files, rebooting, verifying integrity of files, checking my disc space, making sure windows is up to date, i’m currently on windows 10. making sure my drivers are up to date, neither have needed any recent updates. messed with firewall, i’ve tried switching to optimized settings, pretty much everything i could find in discords or online. maybe i’m doing something wrong? but i cannot for the life of me fix it. i’ll provide as much as i can

Hey guys, i'm having a trouble with admin names uh never had such issue before. Out of nowhere they just became very tiny, its really hard to watch over spawn with small names especially when players are running, i deleted saved folder reinstalled game but still the same result. I am only getting these chinese servers which are filled with bot. No Asura or Teutonic Servers. Tried to change the Steam-> In-Game Ping area from 5000-250 each and every number possible, Still i am not being able to find any legit servers. Can anyone help me with this? I downloaded the legacy version of the isle again and I can drink, eat, and move around and sniff. It functions, but I can't use the chat, I can't see my character page, and the escape button doesn't work for some reason. I also can't view the people in the server with the tab button, but I'm not super concerned with that.

I've tried uninstalling, deleting all saved data, and reinstalling. Nothing is fixing this issue. It doesn't happen a ton, but mostly when I log out of server 3 and DM of the server I admin on, and it's really frustrating completing bans

Hey guys. When I join servers with more than 60-70 players my dino starts teleporting while moving. I dont have any problems with my ping its between 40-70 on different servers and other players move normally, its just me. More players-more teleports. While runing I am teleporting a few steps back but while truning... ah its a hell, I am teleporting very hard and sometimes can find myself in like 5-10 meters from the place where I started turningTI_Vibing. If someone can help me, pls... Its so annoying when u loose your dino just because of these tps

software shouldn't shut off you pc my guess is your laptop just can't handle it, maybe overheats, all in all I guess the laptop is old or refurbished or something, I'm no expert no idea how to fix this, best guess would be to bring the laptop to a shop somewhere and have someone look at it

Gonna go on a limb and assume its your internet speed, unless you have over 100mbps I’m not too sure. Seems definitely like a connection/lag issue. I know in general it can sometimes lag if you turn in circles too much.

20 is not a lot and if there is anything downloading or working on the background, other devises using that same internet then for certain you will be having issues in a game that requires at least okish internet speed.

I just switched back from Evrima, and, for some reason, none of the servers show up. Every time I search something up, it just says "no servers found". The only servers that come up are Chinese servers. I've been playing the isle for over a year, and I have been switching between evrima and legacy a considerable amount. I tried most the common fixes. Can I get any help?

Firstly, try press "Hide Empty" and refresh

For the "Chinese Servers" part.
You might want to see if you can see servers via steam and also raising your steam ping for server browser

Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game > And find the area where it says something along the lines of "In-Game Server Browser" > Press it and raise everything up.

Go to the main Steam Client > Click the "View" option at the top > "Servers"
Filter for The Isle and see if there are any servers, on legacy, that aren't a Chinese server

How many servers are you querying? There's a number on the right side below the gamemode (i think). Try to mess around with that, putting it up higher to around 3-5k to see if anything shows.

i have a issue that i dunno if it can be fixed so i launch the game and if i don't spam click as it's loading i will get a black screen and the game stops responding if i get past that by spam clicking and i try to example change my settings to make it less heavy on the pc (thinking the pc is the issue here which it has not been before) i can change all the settings but when i click apply or another tab it stops responding... i say fuck it let's just play as it is and try to head into a server then just change the audio volume as i want to do as it's loud af for me... i find servers i go on one.... i either get to 11% and crashes or i get to 100% and crashes... if i wait long enough it will say "u have waited 120 secs please restart the program" i have validated files i have checked my drivers for grafficard they are the latest and i have reinstalled it twice once where i just did it through steam library and once where i removed the saved folder in appdata local so i have no idea what to do anymore 😔

I've been at this for two days now trying to fix this "no servers found" message. I've updated and double checked my drivers' changed server ping countless times, tried to check off the "hide empty servers" box then refreshed, verified files and uninstalled and reinstalled too many times to count. my firewall isn't blocking anything and my internet speed and connection are just fine if there's a solution out there I've tried it and still nothing different if anyone has any ideas please it would be appreciated.

Guys the steam subsystem failure popup and no server showing in the isle legacy in my setup where my default beta install is evirma branch but i have a legacy installed folder and starting the game using the method change folder name to "The Isle" when using legacy and change evirma folder to "The Isle Evirma". The evirma is good but the change name for the isle legacy got a problem. Is it detecting the betas branch mode?

It's a confusing bug currently.
I presume you've already tried turning up the ping to 2k -> 5k

Have you also tried going into Steam Settings -> In-Game -> Server Browser Pings to 5000?

If yes and it doesn't work. I'm not sure what you could do from there? Might have to try using a VPN, changing branches and then redownloading Legacy.

I have my own Isle server on Legacy, since yesterday players have reported that they can't find the server anymore. And since today I can't find the server anymore either. I have tried every fix, the winsock reset, different ping settings, restarting steam, firewall bypass and launching the Isle in administrator mode, but nothing works. Is it related to the announcement about connection issues? This has never been an issue for any of us but since the fixes for Evrima, legacy server finding is now messed up. Is there anything else that can be done?

No i dont know how to fix this problem but i think it was something the devs did mabey?im not pointing fingers its just i dont do stuff with my pc other than downloading games and playing them,it seems very odd that right out the blue the game stops working.now im not a dev and i dont know what the job is like but if it is a “dev induced” problem then how long might it take to get the hotfix?or will there even be one it seems to me like this problem is highly situational and that only a few people have it(that i was able to locate on steam forms and Reddit form)now i guess if this was the case then seeing from the devs prospective it would probably require alot of time for only about 40 players to get a hot fix.now then similarities are that the person with this bug started in”evrima public branch” and then tried to go back to legacy,now what i cant tell is where exactly the major hiccups take place but as I stated before im not a dev im just a gamer looking for a hot fix if anyone has information to fix this problem please pm me.

Right Click The Isle
Select Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files
Delete everything inside of The Isle’s folder.

  • Press Windows key.

  • Type "Run" to launch Run program.

  • Type in "%localappdata% and click 'Ok'.

  • Search for TheIsle folder.

  • Delete the TheIsle folder once it has been located.

I appreciate you helping me with trying to figure this out but I actually found the solution I don't know if this is going to help anyone else I had to go into my steam settings and clear my download catch for it to actually download the file for me to find it and finally deleted each time that I transfer from evrima to Legacy and back so now I can actually play both Legacy and of Evrima

So I switched from Evrima to legacy and my graphics are just horrendous. They were way better before I even went to Evrima and I’m really confused. It’s muddy and pixelated and almost unplayable. I tried to change my settings and I’m currently verifying my files and updating my graphics drivers. Any advice?

i have been having issues finding the teutonic servers specifically on the isles server search and steams server search, i have tried everything in the pins of this channel, and everything in the help channel on the teutonic discord, i have uninstalled and reinstalled, rolled back an update(windows had an update before the issues started) and i am now at wits end

I am having an issue where after the intro loading screen, my game simply loads a black screen with the audio from the main menu behind it.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've tried deleting the save data, I've tried forcing it to open in windowed mode, I've cleared my download cache, I've verified all the game files, and I cant find a fix.

There should be a subheading saying "Server browser Pings / Minute" and it has a bar which you draw down and it has the numbers '5000,3000,1500,1000,500,250' I recommend going 1500-250 although if they dont work, try a different steam ping.

Was playing on Nycta 3, disconnected from my bad wifi and got back on, my dinosaur was gone. I was with a friend at the time on call, nothing attacked us, she told me my allo was swimming in the water [I was walking on land when I disconnected tho] and it randomly vanished out of thin air. Made a new dinosaur, spawned on the beach with nothing around, lagged out and came back to the species selection screen again. Ide say there is about a 30 second interval of me logging back on after disconnection each time, which wasnt long enough for drowning/dying. NEVER had this problem before, I always disconnect from my game from lag but never does it wipe my dinosaur

Devs must fix hit registration on Legacy. After the first legacy patch after a long time the hit registration became terrible, especially for herbivores. Trike can deal damage to anything only within the red frame. Utah or dilo can attack it in the face with out being hit because they have not enough height for trike to hit, when something is staying on the left or right side of the trike’s head it won’t be damaged too, spino is unkillable for it now. Horrible hit registration is also true to shant, para, theri, camara and trike itself. I believe devs can at least make it as it was before the patches. They said it was fixed but no it didn’t, it became even worse. Legacy is the main branch with bigger community now and it should get some attention

At the very top of the file path click "common"

It takes you back to a folder list of all your Steam games.

Keep that open, we'll go back to that in a moment. Now right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > uninstall game. After it's uninstalled you'll need to go back to that list of game folders and delete "The Isle" folder. That way there is no trace of The Isle, so when you reinstall the game it doesn't re-use any corrupted content that would normally remain after a normal uninstall.

I don't know if this counts as troubleshooting but the grass on legacy looks so awful when moving your camera that it's really making me unable to enjoy the game.If theres some setting out there i could use in nvidia control panel or ingame.Keep in mind my graphics quality is on epic

I'm on steam beta, have the windowed only code, launching as admin, and have a steam shotcut code put in- and when I host the game has a pure black loading screen. Audio works. Ik it’s an old one, I had it on an old laptop of mine back when I was using it. I have a new setup now, and the bug continues- only I can’t remember what I did to fix it. Genuinely will try anything. Step 1: Once you have the legacy version copied wherever you want it, open up the folder containing those files.

Step 2: From that folder (should see the TheIsle executable to know you're in the right spot) go into the folders to: > TheIsle > Binaries > Win64

Step 3: In the folder you're now in (Win64) you should see a file called TheIsleClient-Win64-Shipping. If you do, then you're in the right place. In this folder, create a text file named steam_appid.

Step 4: open up your new steam_appid text file that you just created and add 376210 to the file. Just the numbers, nothing else. that is The Isle's Steam App ID

Step 5: Check and see if the game starts properly and you should be set with no more steam subssystem error message and can play normally like before the update

I had switched over from Legacy to EVRIMA a while ago, and once i got the gist of EVRIMA so i wanted to switch back over to Legacy. When i did, this happened and is continueing to happen.

I had made to bug reports on the steam page and only one was answered by a non-staff and the solution given hadn't worked. The screen is super zoomed in and overly pixelated, which i have never had any sort of problem like this beforehand, i cannot bite, communicate through chat (which isn't even visible) and my Hunger/Thirst HUD is no longer visible even when i press my keybind to open HUD.

It's really frustrating and, don't get me wrong i love EVRIMA, but i prefer Legacy at the moment. I've deleted the game, and file, and redownloaded twice now and nothing is working.

I'm having some issues viewing servers. I downloaded the game and opted into the Beta. Worked fine and played but when I went to opt out of the beta, the game opens but no servers show up. I've dropped my server pings to 1000 and 500 in steam. I've Uninstaller and reinstalled twice. I've done DNS flush in CMD. When I view servers on steam, it shows the EVRIMA ones at the top when I'm not opted into the Beta anymore so that could be a cause but not sure how to fix this.

For anyone encountering fatal errors leading to crashes You will have to manually uninstall “The Isle” from Steam. This issue is typically caused when someone switches from the Legacy to the EVRIMA branch.
Open “Steam”
Right Click The Isle
Select Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files
Delete everything inside of The Isle’s folder.
Then

  • Press Windows key.

  • Type "Run" to launch Run program.

  • Type in "%localappdata% and click 'Ok'.

  • Search for TheIsle folder.

  • Delete the TheIsle folder once it has been located.

LEGACY Troubleshooting

I'm having trouble with my controls not working OR I'm having HUD issues (This will NOT cause you to lose your saved skins or saved settings)

At the bottom left of your taskbar there should be a search bar. Type %APPDATA% in there and open your %APPDATA% folder. At the top you'll see the filepath, click "Appdata" to go back to the actual Appdata folder, then to local > TheIsle > Saved > Config > WindowsClient > Input --- Delete the Input file.

For users experiencing a crash on Legacy

Right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > browse local files. It should open up your Isle folder. At the very top of the file path click "common" It takes you back to a folder list of all your Steam games. Keep that open, we'll go back to that in a moment. Now right click The Isle in your Steam library > left click properties > local files > uninstall game. After it's uninstalled you'll need to go back to that list of game folders and delete "The Isle" folder. That way there is no trace of The Isle, so when you reinstall the game it doesn't re-use any corrupted content that would normally remain after a normal uninstall.

If servers are not showing up:

First Try:

  1. Enable the "Hide Empty" filter
  2. Then change the max search results to 5000
  3. Search New Beginnings

This should work, however, if it doesn't, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Steam in the top left of your Steam library.
  2. Go to Settings > In-Game > click the bottom dropdown box and change your max pings to 1000. Note: You may need to play around with the best setting for you. Some players have reported 500 works better for them.

IF that doesn't work, follow this: Open an Administrator level command prompt

  1. Type in CMD on your windows search through your computer.
  2. Right click Command Prompt
  3. Click Run as Admin. It'll open a black weird box
  4. Type ipconfig /flushdns

  2. Type netsh winsock reset
  3. Hit enter
  4. Reboot your computer
  5. Open up The Isle

If your replay begins with a few seconds of daylight, skip ahead on your replay using the time bar, and that will default the rest of the replay to daytime.

My recordings aren't saving!

If you are having issues with your recording saving, be sure to press T after every time you die. It seems to be a known glitch that the Devs will likely not fix due to it being Legacy.

I keep getting a fatal error

Make sure both your GPU drivers and Windows are fully up to date. Keep in mind that you don't need the optional updates for Windows, generally those are best avoided in my personal experience. Reset Controls/Controls not working properly | Method Two
Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
Afterwards, at the bottom left of your taskbar there should be a white search bar. Type %APPDATA% in there and open your %APPDATA% folder.
At the top you'll see the filepath, click "Appdata" to go back to the actual Appdata folder, then to local > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder

I starts the game and if i dont click when i first open it the screen is black, then when in menu after i have to close the game if im in there for too long it freezes and then when i try to load into a game it stays on 11% and freezes

Hey, so ive been playing evrima for a while and wanted to go back to good ol Legacy for a bit. Unfortunately my bite. menu, sniff, nv and many other options dont work, this has happened before and the only thing that fixed it was a factory reset on my pc, I don't wanna do that again, any suggestions??
