Hey so I’m having an issue I can’t seem to fix and I need some help. I keep getting the fatal error line 1157. Idk what’s that means or how to fix it and google has come up with no answers. I can sometimes load into the menu but the furthest I can occasionally go is loading into the server I play on and it reaching 100% then it just freezes. When I load my task manager it says “the isle client-win64-shipping.exe not responding”. I updated my windows, I’ve deleted the folders in the isle folder and even the app data(idk if there is anything else I need to delete I order to get it completely off my computer) I then reinstalled it through steam, verified the games and before opening checked to see if anything needs to be repaired. Still no luck. All drivers are updated so I just don’t know what to do

I seem to have the same issue, kind of "glad" to see i am not the only one experiencing this, because all the fixes i found on google are some 2-3 years old fixes for similar but not quite the same thing.
I've tried the delete Saved folders thing, updating GPU driver, etc, Reinstalling several times, nothing seems to help.
To me it seems like something that can't be fixed on the user's end tbh.

Nah. Single monitor. I did check that too, found advice to press some weird combos to make the game appear in my main screen, but nothing. Checked too, my computer does not magically sense an other screen either, so dunno.

Tho in the task manager the game says it is not responding and also the Steam overlay popup gets stuck too, also FPS counter stuck, so it really seems to be just froze.
The only thing i did not try yet is some vcruntime what ever thing, well, i tried with legacy no fix, but maybe with evrima it will work.

So I'm trying to help a friend, at first his whole game was crashing when he tried to search for servers, he updated his driver and it fixed it, now when he actually SEARCHES for a server, it says no server found.

We've tried everything on pinned messages, any other suggestion? His internet is fine with all other online games and servers (when not searching)

  1. Type in CMD on your windows search through your computer.
  2. Right click Command Prompt
  3. Click Run as Admin. It'll open a black weird box
  4. Type ipconfig /flushdns
  5. Hit enter

Steam Subsystem Failure
Step 1 go into the folders to: Steam >Steamapps> common>The Isle> TheIsle > Binaries > Win64

Step 2: In the folder you're now in (Win64) you should see a file called TheIsleClient-Win64-Shipping. If you do, then you're in the right place. In this folder, create a text file named steam_appid. (A normal .txt file)

Step 3: open up your new steam_appid text file that you just created and add 376210 to the file. Just the numbers, nothing else. that is The Isle's Steam App ID

Step 4: Check and see if the game starts properly and you should be set with no more steam subs system error message and can play normally

Anyone have any issues with trying out the QA (with humans) and coming back to legacy? There is now only a small selection of eu servers, and all the servers my friends and I play on I can't find. Why rolling "update" to the game that they stopped developing? What is it for? It was working (well, sorta) so why touch it and break things? I can't find any logic to that. Push players to switch to the evrima? Players still prefer legacy, even it is very unfinished and broken, but playable.
I am sure that Evrima once is finished will be great but that is still long time from being playable and enjoyable for players
So breaking the legacy seems like a bit of a backstabbing from devs? There's probably a reason why the legacy is tinkered with but I don't think we will ever know the real reasons why it's getting so called updates that actually breaking the game even more in the past year or so.
Very sad to watch that.

First downloading legacy and copy the files at the desktop. After that, download evrima. Copy the files on the desktop. Chance the files before in legacy and evrima. Now you can copy the version, what you want to play in the files by steam. But you can only start The Isle inside steam by "play".

Remember, you need the copys on the desktop and when evrima have an update, do this again only for the evrima version. I hope, the update of legacy didn't change that and it's working.

Make a folder on you're desktop. Inside the folder make 2 another folder. One for Legacy and the other one for Evrima

In steam, you switch the beta for legacy. I think, that's no beta. After downloading, copy at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle" all the files in the folder on you're desktop folder by "Legacy" After that, switch the beta in steam to evrima - public branch. After the download, copy at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle" all the files in the folder on you're desktop folder by "Evrima". So you can copy from the folders of the version on you're desktop back to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle", what you want to play. In steam is you're beta by evrima, but you can start the game in steam (only in steam) by "play". You can switch with copy and paste the versions every time. But careful. When evrima have an update, you must do this again at the point downloading evrima and copy for the folder on you're desktop.

Yes, it's the directions for two versions of the isle for switching, without downloading by switching. But the icons, you mean the exe-files on the desktop from the isle. The exe-files on the desktop from The Isle doesn't work. You can only start The Isle with the folder, that you paste in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Isle", in steam by pressing "play". It doesn't make a difference, when steam say, you've "The Isle - Evrima", when you paste the legacy version in the folder. You play legacy version.

Steam is looking for a folder called "The Isle" and will launch that game. If that legacy version is named something other than 'The Isle then it won't work.

Someone PLEASE help me. I've been having this issue for months.

When I open the game, it black screens. On the slight chance it actually shows the loading screen, as soon as I select a server it gets to the 100% screen and freezes. Every time. When I verify my files, does the same. My only fix is redownloading but even then that only works for 1 start up or 2. It isn't permanent. I don't have the best internet to be downloading and uninstalling everyday. I get the error code 1157 if I leave the black screen up.

What do I do?

Ok i really need someone to explain why i keep rubber banding so much in legacy servers, i literally can't move or fight. is it because I live in Australia and the ping would be the issue?

  • Your Internet
  • Your PC
  • If you use wifi
  • If you have good routing to the server
  • The actual server
  • The game also have issues with rubberbanding

... So it can be a good mix of everything

still cant hear ambient sound in legacy when will this be fixed? I can hear everything else except for ambient sounds like the wind/air and stuff like that sound like im completely muted unless i move and i can hear my footsteps and other people moving

Anybody else having issues with controls on Legacy? Escape doesn't work in-game or the N key for night vision, even though that's what they're set to in the config/settings.

I cant use the chat either. I've never had this issue before and Im not sure if a simple re-install will fix it.

I cant find my saved data file and i cant delete it, my eat, walk and chat and night vision. it wont work, i reset the controls and i even changed the keybinds and that seemed to have messed up my walking

Reset Controls/Controls not working properly | Method Two
Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
Afterwards, at the bottom left of your taskbar there should be a white search bar. Type %APPDATA% in there and open your %APPDATA% folder.
At the top you'll see the filepath, click "Appdata" to go back to the actual Appdata folder, then to local > TheIsle > delete the "Saved" folder

I think thats the plan yes, unless they have changed their mind recently - or will do once the times come.

  • But first when the game is "ready to take over" the other branch.

Is it normal for Legacy to take a lot of bandwidth? I only have 3G and 4G in my area and I tend to get disconnected and find it hard to even load servers. I have the same issue with Evrima just not as bad. Any solutions?

For some reason I keep getting "No servers found" and I even looked up a fix for it and it still isn't working, I even tried to look up servers through view/servers but nothing is showing up, could someone help please? Thank you !

At the moment, I regularly observe one problem with finding servers, or I don’t find them at all, or a lot of Chinese servers come down.
I don’t know if this is related to the situation in my country by blocking all Russian domains, but even your official servers are not visible.
I only watched the legacy version, Evrima did not even check
Can anyone suggest a solution to this issue?

im using a ps4 controller and some of the keybinds dont work, or put in the wrong input. specifically my left stick and stick button input is causing me issues. i have tested this with two controllers so i know its not a broken remote. even when using my mouse button to select a keybind to change it, it turns into left stick x or y. i dont know why this is happening, i have deleted and reopened the game after deleting the saved folder and trying other things to fix the controls but its not working. is there any solution to this? do i have to manually go into the input.ini file thing and change all my keybinds to match what i want? i dont want to use the default keybinds, so i have most of my inputs changed to other buttons. most of the other buttons work fine. is this a steam controller set up issue thats contradicting my input? is it the stick deadzone? i really need help and for someone to explain this to me. i have already tried the suggested options that are pinned.

In this screen shot I tried changing the sprint and trot controller inputs, and it switched to left stick x/y after clicking with my mouse, instead of the actual buttons I want to use.

when i open the isle on steam it says its running on steam but it doesnt open up, redownloading it worked the first few times but i just tried redownloading it and it didnt work. i did everything i logged out of steam and went back in, verified files, closed steam in task manager, redownloaded it 🙁 does anyone know what to do

I ended up fixing it by deleting all my isle files, uninstalling the game, and reinstalling it

Ive looked at the pinned and couldnt find anything with my issue that i havent already tried. I play on a lot of servers, and a lot of them lately wont show or i cant even connect too. This is using my regular home internet, but if i use my phone hotspot i can join the servers. But i cant maintain the connection cause its phone internet. What is going on with my home internet? Ive allowed the isle to bypass firewall, ive tried changing the ping setting in steam, ive tried the flush and winsock stuff through cmd. Im at my wits end at this point, someone got a solution?

my graphics for legacy is all messed up because there are basically only 2 settings I can choose either my graphics have a horrible resolution where I can barely see what's 10 feet away from me which makes hunting a hassle or the resolution is so good that my pc is about to explode and the way I switch between both of those settings is with the reset button(which gives the laggy resolution) and the apply button( which gives the garbage resolution) also my pc is decent.
