@azure steeple they removed dev so that all the players are on the same branch. You probably want to be on public branch, as it's the main branch right now. I dont think legacy is working right now, so switch to public branch and then post what happens

@azure steeple your anti-virus program may be deleting the isle exe - add an exception for the isle folder in your anti-virus program

also @static hearth issue is not some branch thing, which doesn't exist anymore anyway - its a firewall or permissions issue
cayde, have you added the isle to your exclusions lists for all security software on your PC?

everybody having trouble with servers, or updates or anything really, make sure you are running steam and the game as an administrator (right click menu on the shortcut or exe)

At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle. @primal musk

open the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
Then reboot your pc and test the server browser again

you can also try this. If it still doesn't work, I'm out of solution sadly.

Ive started permanently freezing upon attempting to load into the game after selecting a character to play as. After checking all of my specs with Punch and a few friends previous to this, we noted that it could only be either my processor which is AMD (but passes the reccomended) or my RAM which is 8 gigs and also passes reccomended. I am out of ideas on what to do other than hope some optimizations happen, but does anyone else have ideas on what I can check/fix?

settings are all low except for shadows which is on epic (prevents the flickering and giving me headaches). turned smooth fps off to see if that would help, not sure it did.

Best way to find servers I have found is to utilize the out of game Steam Bootstrap server selection menu...

Simply start steam and it will show up in the task bar near the start menu. If the bootstrapper client did not load up right click the steam icon and the option to start the steam client bootstrapper is in the list of options. Click it.

Once it loads up just click the game option and select The isle then refresh and for the first time ever you will see every server online and be able to connect. This will start your game and connect you to the server in one step!

Also the bootstrapper client starts automatically so if you have steam running already you need only follow the last part of this if you did not close the bootstrapper client! 😉

i honestly dont know.... best thing to note is that your game need not be running while attempting this method of connecting to servers as it automatically starts your game and connects you to the server.

In others words if you have your game running turn it off first. and try again...

Make sure that you have opted out of all beta,
In your Steam game library, Right click the isle > Properties. Click on the BETA tab and make sure you have selected "none...."

Also check that you are not using any filter on the server list. Clear any text from the search boxes (be careful of spaces too)

Thanks, looter, that ended up working. They had to switch the steam server, and then stuff started showing up normally in the ingame server browser.

@pale pike I added the Isle to my exclusions list, and followed the command steps, but it still says "Host closed connection" could there be something I'm possibly doing wrong?

It seems when I shut down my computer or restart the game it has this issue, but when I uninstall and reinstall the Isle it works perfectly fine.

I'm having a problem where I am able to find some servers but not all.

A server such as Silver Falcon or Isla Nebula will always appear for me in the browser. Almost all of the official servers do not.

This is despite me having The Isle setup as an exception in my anti-virus and having pings/minute adjusted to a lower value. (Currently 1000, also have experimented with 250-500)

Even viewing servers through Steam's browser only gets me a handful of results; Official US 3 will appear, but not Official US 2 or 1

File verification has been attempted as well with no apparent results.

EDIT: A reinstall is being attempted as a solution

EDIT #2: Reinstall does not affect the results.

Hi, For some reason my graphic settings aren't really changing. I've changed them through the main menu onto cinimatic, however they're still showing up as low looking graphics in game. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any help?

No server found solution :
At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle. @covert summit

Once the exclusion are added, do this :

There's no way to revert as far as I'm aware. The only thing you can do is wait for those server owners to update their servers making you able to join

Since this last update, im not sure if this was the issue or something else, however, i always have the web console open to keep an eye on things and I got about 500 lines of this within a few seconds.

Now note this player was not within the server at the time of this, as I searched their ID as shown in these logs

I can not for the life of me smell for anything. Everything suggested or told to do ive tried several times.I have deleted the save folder which is gone. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the game, verify catch files and reset binding/settings ingame. Restarted the game several times during all these process.

Is there something im missing? I have never been able to use the scent system at all on any dinos.

I've heard from someone there's a fix to the color selection freezing? These are my pc's specs at the moment, and the rest of the game runs amazingly at 30+ fps on epic, but the color screen freezes for minutes at a time. After the last update my freezing problems have lessened somewhat (thank god for optimization), and I've noticed a rather interesting detail; I only freeze now for the most part when trying to select colors in the color selection menu. I've updated my drivers and everything else meets reccomended besides my RAM which is at minimum. Any way of pinpointing what might be stumbling/freezing?

you should add theisle.exe in your firewall/antivirus exclusion list, which can be found in Program files/Steam/Steamapps/common/TheIsle

Once the game has been added in your exclusion You should then perform these step :
Open the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
Then reboot your pc and try playing on a server.

Something of note: It's definetly the sounds in the update for the skin UI causing freezing. I used the -nosound thing and put all my settings back to epic. no freezing, nothing. The game runs like butter.

My boyfriend is having trouble with lagging when the server (namely US1) has been up for more than a day. Everyone starts moonwalking and teleporting, but his ping doesn't change from what it normally is. As soon as the server is restarted, everything is butter-smooth, but when it's been up for an extended period of time, people look like they're glitching out when they're running in circles. It seems as if the other players bodies aren't facing the correct direction in which they should be walking. Meanwhile, his player is completely smooth, and there's no lag on his part. It makes PvP impossible because he can't tell which direction anyone is facing. Tried reinstalling, tried verifying integrity of game files, doesn't know what else to do.
TL;DR - Players appear to glitch and lag when server uptime exceeds 24 hours, and progressively gets worse as the server uptime increases.

so atm there is this bug with AMD CPU that the game starts lagging and freezing in the Dino Creation screen where you choose your skin color. I too have this problem, if i click fast enoth i can get in the game with no problems and it runs fine after but now im stuck with the default color. is there a way to change or create presets outside the game ?

@hidden mesa there's currently a workaround for that that'll help performance while you're selecting a skin. When you're in the main menu, set the sound quality to low in the settings, and then once you customize your character as you like you can set it back to high from the pause menu

It has a direct correlation to the server's uptime, we don't think it has much to do with his internet/server's connection, if anything

Official servers were playable because of the constant crashes/restarts, but now that the crashing has been fixed, the server uptime gets to be too much

Happens most to him on the testlevel map, tested on all servers though, including official, and all of those times his ping was fine

I used to have problems with the TestLevel map but then I realized I could just unplug my headset and it unfroze/increased my framerate and was fine after I plugged my headset back in

Open File Explorer from the taskbar.

Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.

Mine used to do that, game froze and I had to either wait or completely close it with task manager, then one day the sound glitched out while I was frozen and I decided to unplug my headset to get the sound to return to normal, then my game unfroze. Been doing that forever now, need to fix my computer, and I doubt it's a solution that will help anyone else, but it's worth a shot if you don't know what's happening. The Isle is the only game that does this for me, no other games freeze when I've tabbed out (sometimes just randomly, without me even touching anything). Rarely, unplugging my headset doesn't work, but majority of the time the game unfreezes and if I'm having frame drop issues it returns my FPS to normal too. Again, doubt this is going to be a fix, but it's worth a shot if you've got a USB headset.

open the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
Then reboot your pc and test the server browser again

Skin System selection screen is literally freezing everytime I try to pick a color. Many have this issue. Any advice how to fix that? I only need to hover over any of the buttons for it to freeze, relogging nor restarting game fixes that, cant even select skins in different servers.

Willing to pay $ for direct answer from dev regarding triple monitor view. Its very zoomed in and unplayable. Will surround support be a thing? Can I personally pay for it to be a thing? The FOV is fine currently, not sure how bad it will be when zoom out is proportionate. Regardless of any future FOV support I think all it would take is a larger zoom out distance being allowed when resolution is set to 5760x1080. But then again im not a dev. It may take considerable work I have no clue.

Been having an issue where exclusively in the skin select screen, the audio will start bugging out and my game will freeze repeatedly in varying intervoles. I updated my drivers and put all the settings to low with no success, any ideas?

@hollow valley the solution to your problem is to either try setting your ingame sound quality to low through the menu or start the game with -nosound as a launch option, set up your skin slots, and then relaunch the game without it and just picking your saved skin. It seems its predominately an issue with AMD processors

Yeah it's really weird, AMD just doesn't seem to like the sounds in it for whatever reason. Looter is looking into getting something to fix it soon

I've bought the game through Steam yesterday for 19.99 euro for a friend of mine who really wanted it. He started playing right away but after 3 hours of play time he notices the game is on Steam for 13.39 euro. We've already contacted Steam to request a partial refund but because he already has 3 hours and 45 min on the counter they can't do that. Unfortunately he has about 2-3 hours of YouTube watching how to play the game while it was running resulting in about 1-2 hours of actual play time. Is there anything you can do for us? I know it's "only" 6.6 euro but for someone who doesn't have a lot of money, every cent counts.

Should be able to, you can set that up easily in Steam. Just go to the options menu and create a new steam directory in whatever location or on whatever device you want to but the microsd card better have a fast transfer speed otherwise you'll be sitting at the loading screen longer than you'll be playing the game. @pliant lodge

I specifically bought this microsd for my dashcam, which unfortunately apparently it was too big? not sure why. so I ended up using it for my pc instead.

in order for that to work, it had to have a high download speed, and I'm pretty sure its upload speed is about the same - assuming this counts as transfer. it's also a samsung card, not sure if that changes anything either

So, not sure if this could be fixed or not. But my color selection screen for my dinosaur is super, duper laggy. Nothing else in the game lags me more then that screen. It makes me not want to choose colors for the most part and just spawn in with whatever it was defaulted as. Anyone know why this is?

set search results to 1000, unless it's already at that. I usually type in the name of the server I want to see and log into, that typically helps

Hello. I'm having an issue. This has never happened to me before also yesterday i played 5-6 hours of The Isle without problems however today everytime i launch the game my monitor goes dark and just says ''no signal'' but I can hear the game running and my PC is fine. The only thing i think I did is to change it from fullscreen windowed to just fullscreen.

Disconnected from server

Is what it says. Itll suddenly go to a loading screen then kick me back to menu and say "disconnected from server" once it gets to 100%

No real set amount of time on how often it happens. Had it happen after and hour or so. Had it happen while selecting colors for a dino and everywhere in between

Not sure where to post this.
When I start up the hame, choose a server, and color min dino my game lags and freezes up.
When I get in game it runs smooth.
Then trying to logout completely freezes the game and won't let me close it

#

Note* i tried Turing my settings down and only managed to slow the game play to a crawl

At the top left of Steam you’ll see a little button labeled “Steam”, left click that and select settings > in-game > and adjust the dropdown menu at the bottom to around 1000. You may need to tinker around and find the magic number that works for you, afterwards simply hit ok and launch The Isle. @wraith nimbus

I have that same problem but except the official testing and internal servers are showing up for me. Every once in while, US 3 or 1 will show up but will disappear after the next refresh or so. Most of the other community server will show up but I'm not keeping track of those. I've checked, unchecked filters and searched names, and did that thing that @pale pike said but all the US servers don't show up for me.

open the command prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
Then reboot your pc and try playing on a server again @strong solar

Im also having the same issues as K3rmit. to connect to EU1 takes about half an hour of refreshing before it finally pops up, One In The Box takes 10 minutes of refreshing, and my friends server has yet to show up no matter how many times i refresh. Its not my firewall or any other application blocking access i can find lots of other servers just not the ones i WANT to play on

The Isle will not let me run the game with my more powerful Nvidia GPU via Nvidia control panel. It only has the option for Integrated, or my Nvidia processor. I want it to use my GPU. Has anybody else had this issue, and if so, have you found a way to force the game to use GPU instead of CPU?

@light oar If your graphics card is old enough to not support Shader Model 5, you're way under the minimum specifications of the game, double check that windows is set to use the correct GPU by default

Tammo, I'm having similar issues. I can't find servers at all. I'm running the game via Proton (Linux) with Steam.

Despite not supporting Linux, I'm also getting a process called TheIsle-Linux-T, which is unusual Furthermore, proton isn't logging this game, which is even more unusual.

i think you can check via the version listed on the main menu, it should be 0.1.52.3

it sounds like proton should have steam pull down the windows depot for the game, but maybe it pulls the linux depot if it exists

BuildID is correct, but it looks like its grabbing the linux depot since it exists

can be done while the server is running but the actual player whos file is being edited has to had safelog prior to that, also not sure about the pathway for a server not on Pingperfect

Does this happen to anyone else...?

When I keep updating the server list to see if my currently full favorite server (EU 1 Official in this case) has a spot open for me, my internet connection mysteriously vanishes after like 3 clicks on 'Refresh'. I thought it was a coincidence at first, but then it happened very specifically under the same conditions like for more than three times to me. Conditions: click 'refresh' on The Isle server list a few times and your connection is broken. Even the other PC in this house loses its internet connection when it happens. What could be causing the issue and how could I maybe fix it? (Really strange and never had a game cause this type of thing)

@stuck rock, You meant reinstall the game itself? I've tried that as well as verifying the files via Steam's menu. Perhaps this is the reason why Proton fails to launch the game? Any way I can find another source of the redists?

This is getting a little over my head, so if it's more helpful then I'll just call it a report and also file the issue at Proton's github page so they might work on it from the other end.

It doesn't happen to everyone, so you might want to include some details. Are you launching from Steam? Can you find a log?

@stuck rock, Nevermind all that. After the reinstallation and apparently a proton update, the game launches and I can play. Crashed once, but so did all of Steam. Seems to be working fine as far as the game is concerned. Looks like the rest of the issues are Steam/Proton handling it.

Hi, I’m painfully new (like I don’t belong here tbh) but I’ve been dying to play the Isle. I’m new to pc gaming in general really and I don’t really know what these are telling me. After trying to run the game I got these messages.

That means that you should go to nvidia website and download the recommended graphic drivers that the first image recommend. but i gotta tell you that with that graphic card i don't know if you are able to run any recent game.

I am running into a issue when playing the Isle, i keep crashing and i double checked It is NOT my graphics card{It is all up to date and i also play another game that has alot of stuff in it as well, no issues that other game is World of Warcraft{also on high graphics} and its seems to be only the Isle giving me issues, it crashes when i try to do the shift tab to access my friends that message me, or when i tab out, it crashes to the point where i am force shutting down my laptop which also uninstalls the isle everytime it crashes.

a nvidia gtx 960 is the minimum requirements for the game but I'd go for a gtx 1070 if you have the money @grand ruin

the color screen is much less laggy now but still freezes a bit when I try to adjust pattern variation. using an amd fx series processor

An issue after 2/10/2019 update:
I can't join Oceanic LFDU (HIGH AI) 1, I can't find it on the server list any longer as well. My boyfriend and our mutual friends are currently on the server, so I tried joining off of them - when I do try joining, it says my game is outdated, that I needed to restart Steam and update it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, just in case it didn't update correctly.
I restarted my laptop.
I can play on any of the other servers so far, and I don't get that message.
My boyfriend and our mutual friends have all updated their games and can play on it, so why can't I as well?

How do I add Steam to my Firewall list? I don't actually have an antivirus thing like Norton, cause I'm poor. I've been pretty safe so far though without one! 😅

So, the EU 3 server is down, I've heard it went down for the update and just didn't come back up.... I'm unsure if this is troubleshoot worthy but I figured I'd say something juuust in case

The _CommonRedist folder is there in the isle folder, but it was all empty. There was an update on steam in last few weeks that put all this data in a common place for all games to access.
steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist

There's something really wrong ._. This update (the 2.0 something GB one) just occupied about 13 GB, and now im trying to download the 1.4 update one and my disk space is slowly going down and down, losing 100mb every second when i'm trying to download it. and it's not even downloading it. not sure what is happening but i paused it

Hi there! So after today's update this happened. I restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled, followed the recommended stuff to try from the forum and nothing has fixed this. I can't play at all. The game was running perfectly fine before the update.

Hey, so I keep running into this issue, sometimes when I'm playing I get "Host closed the connection" it usually happens a few secs after I log in, I have tried closing and opening port, I have verified my game cache, I have reinstalled the game, I have closed and restarted the game, I have tried other server, I have restarted steam, and I have updated my graphics drivers just cause. Nothing seems to help and it won't go away, any suggestions?

@stuck rock I attempted the work around suggested in the pinned message (since i have an AMD 8320) and even with minimum graphic and audio setting (with all of the sliders turned down to 0) the issue persists.

@pale pike Dinging you here so you guys can see; no changes as for the freezing in Skin selection menu while sound is on for my end at least as of this patch. If i have sound on low with it off in settings I can work my way around it though like usual. Freezing has extended into the login menu when you enter a server and select your dino. No freezing on main menu for the game.

You need to be looking at the geound as you do it. Maybe check your personal settings for which key it is bound to as well.
