In depth Herbivore edible foliage🌿
“Hey I’ll eat half of this, you can eat the other half. Yeah?”
Separating parts of the edible foliage into segments of which the foliage is divided in, rather it be 2, 3, whatever. In which you can chose a default chance of this segment being good, neutral or bad. Chances changing depending on the dinosaur, so if you would want Triceratops to eat this just fine but don’t want Parasaurolophus eating this with Triceratops you can increase the chance of negatives and decrease the chance of positives for Parasaurolophus.
“I want the chance of negatives spawning at 30% per segment”
(Both Positives and Negatives would be temporary)
Negatives could include things such as nausea, cramps, poison, health regeneration decrease, increased hunger/thirst, etc
Positives could include things such as increase affinity bonuses, water gain, more food than usual, health regeneration increase, increased stamina, etc
Additionals(not too sure on this one): Things such as berries or thorns and what not spawning on the segments with the rng chance, rather being bad or good, could contain antidotes, antivenom effects or poison. As I’ve also been thinking about this helping non-healthy mixes in diets(such as a Parasaurolophus and Triceratops mentioned earlier) could help give viable food even, very minuscule however, this depends on what the balance and availability is though.
Herbivore groups? Perhaps having certain areas where bushes with better positive chances and good additionals(if added maybe) spawn far more, then see the battles herd vs herd start.
Also to say that there could be several herbivore(or omnivore) species could scent out negative, positive or both parts of plants. As well as other or the same species having a toxicity and maybe “”thorns”” esque “resistance”.
