ALLO BALANCING

Allo shouldnt be able to take a dibble face tank, thats unrealistic and unfair, realistically, if an allo was face tanking a diabloceratops, it would get impaled. allo is also lacking in terms of combat other then its bitespeed aswell, im suggesting these because it will make allo fairer, funner, and more balanced. right now its just a oversized omniraptor on steroids with a bit of spice to it.

NERFS & BUFFS

Increase the cooldown between bites
Lessen damage & increase bleed
Make it easier to claw swipe (and allow a stationary clawswipe)
decrease damage/bleed from pounces

CHANGES

Give allo a thrash attack, where it can grab onto its enemy for a few seconds and rip out chunks of flesh, dealing heavy bleed, and medium damage with a heavy stamina cost
Allow allo to preform a small non pounce "lunge" to dodge attacks, make it use high amounts of stamina

DIET CHANGES

Add All current ceratopsians, and hadrosaurs to the diet
Add a select few new ai to diet

REASONING

nerfs: Allos can currently face tank anything except a triceratops, stegosaurus, rex, deinosuchus, and sometimes maia. this is unrealistic, unfair, and causes alot of balance issues
Buffs: to balance out the nerfs and give allo something more unique to it. making it a bleeder instead of a pouncer
changes: So allo is more unique, less of a pouncer, and more of a bleeder.
Diet: Allosaurus currently has 9 diets, 3 in each category, that is incredibly small for a carnivore of its size, and while it will be expanded on as new dinos are added, its still a struggle. if you add something, you can expand on it, but you should make sure the current version actually works. and allos current diet, does not. adding ceratopsians, hadrosaurs, and smaller herbivores like pachycephalosaurus will allow for easier hunting and more realistic hunting aswell.

Constructive feedback welcome, if you disagree please tell me why.

So...why is the austro another dino who can pin? We already have so many creatures that can do that and its so boring to watch your dino die to something you can not defend yourself against. It feels like every dino has some way to stun you or completely pin you

Revert Herrerasaurus climbing to what it was when it first released. It worked flawlessly, now each jump is a russian roulete if it will land/even work.

Also let it hit multiple dinosaurs at once, why did you remove that ? People can just now camp on their friends body and they won't take damage, and they have traumatic trombosis mutation so they are fine.
People need to be careful of sticking too close if they don't wan't to die.(Maybe this mechanic should only be an exception for nests)

If you are going to let Austro eat fish while swimming let herra also eat fish while swimming

If you are close to a loud river, coming close or further away from these spots makes a wierd ticking sound while using headphones

I adore the redwoods, but am I the only one that kinda miss the old highlands look ? It had a unique look to it, but it seem like its been completly replace by redwoods, could there be another spot of the map with the old highlands look to have more biome variety?
Also same thing with the hordetest forests, I adore them and they are fun to traverse cause camera doesnt clip all the time through foliage, but I also feel like we should get some very lush jungle spots too.

In light of this suggestion, I thought that it might be more interesting to handicap each dino less from missing all prime requirements but perhaps the how much you actually complete would allow for the non-prime, non-frail, standard elder idea.

4th mutation would be default and the percentage you gain from the mutation could change based on your success, similar to how entombing changes the benefit in the next life. Stat decreases/increases could be minor and offset by the mutation benefits.

I'm not sure what the plans are for the Elder System but I feel like there should be three tiers of Elder. Like Frail Elder, Elder and Prime Elder. Seems odd that you are either Frail or Prime with no middle ground. Frail could be the same, Elder = Prime as it is now and Prime = the same stats as Prime is now but your peak stats never drop off.

I think we can all agree that small dinos blocking u for bigger friend to come is annoying and i think i have the solution.

Make dinos able to walk over other dinos that are much smaller than them and damage or kill them that way but please make it so hatchling cant be stomped on by their family members.

Skeletal System
I think it would be really cool if there was full skeletons for every creature (upon death)

(Though i think this mechanic should be added to the game AFTER all others are finished so as to not impede the production of other playables)

We were shown skull models for Para and Dilo skulls a long time ago and I think it would be really cool if every animal had a fully modelled skeletal system that appears after death. I think this would enable unique and fun mechanics and would overall heighten the game's realism and goriness.

One such system which could make the game more interactive (instead of purely adding the skeletons for visual awesomeness which they would no doubt bring) could be that carnivores and potentially certain omnivores or even herbivores with calcium-intensive structures like horns to maintain like Trike, can grab specific bones or structures like arm/leg assemblies, and consume them in order to maintain a new consumable slot: Calcium, which would be displayed by a bone icon next to the already present hud icons.

Keeping this value higher up would by no means be necessary to "Survive The Isle" but would grant those players who keep on top of it a significant resistance to fracture damage. To ensure this does not completely diminish the playstyle of current (and future?) fracture-centric playables (ie. Rex and Pachy), this bonus fracture resistance would decrease rapidly, perhaps draining from 100% to 0% in ~30 minutes for larger playables and ~15 minutes for smaller ones and would be nerfed if the player has Glass Bones.

I think the addition of interactable skeletons would also increase the horror aspect of the game as currently when you walk up to a skeleton, (unless its massive or from a deino) it is quite hard to discern what dinosaur that spine belonged to. I would imagine that being a sub Trike and walking up to a pile of 3 or 4 prime Trike skulls (like in the hope trailer) would be quite horrifying lol

Fix herrera climbing. It is the most broken mechanic in the whole game rn.

Give it the juvi speed back (same with juvi troodon) and better stamina management like regening stam when you're latched onto a tree.

It was the most fun dino to play when it came out. Just because it was killing bigger dinos it doesn't mean that it should be nerfed to the ground.

Austroraptor RMB rework

Currently, Austroraptor's RMB functions as just another pounce, not much special aside from a surprisingly good range which is well appreciated, but it could definitely be a lot more interesting, and for a non-combat playable such as this, you kind of have to go all in with QoL abilities to make up for the lack of combat engagement.

I propose we give Austroraptor a jump aim while holding RMB just like Herrerasaurus. No new mechanics or crazy effort has to be made, just use what weve already got for herra/hypsi. This jump would REALLY help austroraptor in being interesting and refreshing to play.

  • First of all, this'd help it excel in difficult aquatic environments such as precisely hopping through and between the tight mangroves where others would struggle, as well as getting on and between small surfaces and debris through and between water.
  • Secondly, This'd help it hunt swimming/surface targets by being able to easily land on them from a distance to deal damage rather than needing to bare guess it by rather difficultly calculating a jump (easy to mess up from a distance).
    • On land, when used on a target from any height, It'd simply just trigger the normal latch we have now (assuming its here to stay) upon coming into contact with something without any impact damage or damage increased from height unless devs want so.

On another note, it'd be really great if austro could have a charged jump, mainly used to increase distance rather than height to differenciate it from hypsi, but both is fine. I think that QoL features like these that increase the range of what austro could do unrelated to pvp would really help it be more entertaining and making up for those who are less combat-focused by giving them more to be immersed in.

-# also a little polarized vision ability where you can see/sense underwater targets from the shore nearby like the concept art would be nice.. maybe it could be like, hold RMB while using scent?

Idk if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or if its just me. But hordetest is nearly unplayable rn as it starts crashing the game once u join on a server. Its phasewise too. Sometimes I get in and can play up to 1 or 2 hours, then it starts crashing again and again and this phase lasts anywhere between an hour and 6 hours. As u already stated, hordetesting is to collect data. However, if others expierence the same, how are you gonna collect reliable data from anyone if most people keep crashing? And its also been there since the beginning of the hordetest, when u put in kentro. So you had enough time to work on this issue aswell..

This is a wonderful game to play its interesting and keeps you on your toes. Problem is that a lot of the new (character) spawn areas theres no food at all nearby. I like to play the Deinosuchus and there's no fish, crabs, nothing near the water in most spawn areas. I once got my butt kicked by a deer, because I was too young/small to take it on and there was no other food sources nearby. Is this something that is in the works to be fixed?

Why create these beautiful underwater locations if there isn't any colour? I propose a combination of what we've had in the past. During the day, underwater is colourful and you can see at a distance, due to murk. At night, that's when you need to rely on this affect. This would allow the horror aspect of not seeing everything and just outlines be relevant, while also allowing your game to look good during the daytime.

Sex Specific Colour Gradients

The Skin Gradient System is good in my opinion, many might not like it, but I am glad to see more similar coloured members of my species without some freak variations. However given that aside from a few specific species, the sexual dimorphism is truly lacking and the Gradient system could be used to add more dimorphism to the game. If we had unique colour gradients depending on the sex of the species would be very interesting to see, it may not be needed for some species but take some inspiration from real world birds and apply to something like a Hypsilophodon, and I think it would suit the game and it may give players more incentive to nest if they could more easily visualise the differences.

This will affect how the skin system interacts with hatchlings and what applies to the hatchling so you could either have the player make two separate skins which affect their offspring randomly, or whatever gender the hatchling assumes, will also assume the same colours as the parent of the same gender.

I added dimorphism of the King of Saxony Bird & Mandarin Duck just as a reference.

This is more of a quality of life type of suggestion, something I'd like to see later on not even in phase 3; although this change would be nice. It would be cool to see more idle animations from the playables that we have, mainly the bigger once; troo, beipi and small playables already have pretty good idle animations. The animations from legacy for most of the dinos made them feel more alive. For example, in legacy Allo had an animation where it would yawn etc. New animations that I think would be nice to have would be like when it rains, your dino occasionally shakes off the water like what you see animals do in real life. Other animations I would like to see would be variations in laying, or add animations your dino would do if your laying down and idle after a certain amount of time. I think small changes like this would help some of the dinosaurs feel more dynamic and alive.

not really been a fan of the last few updates but this one is giving me hope!

positives)

  • austro & kentro seem like fun playables (hopefully more to come this year).
  • game has been running smoothly and consistently for me, even on high pop servers (my friends with lower end pcs can finally play again).
  • game runs SO well that i can turn up my graphics settings and still keep 60 fps.
  • game seems to look a lot nicer visually.
  • huge fan of having green grass textures underneath foliage so it doesn't look horrid from most perspectives.
  • swamp is a lot more pleasant to spawn in and i no longer instantly drown myself!
  • delta has trees.

negatives)

  • kentro animations seem way too bubbly and bouncy, especially the running, although i've only noticed this for babies as i have not grown yet. if just the baby animations look that way then i'm fine with it honestly.
  • as far as colours go i think austro could do a little better and kentro could have darker colours. i don't see myself using any of kentro's darker palettes as a main skin.

bugs)

  • game has crashed twice (but it's ht servers so i'm not surprised).
  • sanctuary mushrooms are rotated strangely in the kentro's mouth (first image below).
  • kentro status report screen shows omniraptor and a displaced one off to the side.

i'm aware that this is just ht and it's bound to change but this is my feedback so far.

Sadly once the rex got behind you hes got time to wait 3 seconds to crush again so its technically only 2 crushes he has to get on a trike , the other part is just moving a bit(yes its really impossible for the trike to get back into position with 3seconds time)

Hello Devs,

First, I appreciate the direction you’re taking with PT and the more realistic flying system. I support the idea behind it, but right now PT feels extremely frustrating to play because of multiple issues.

The biggest problem is the sanctuary gravitational pull bug. Every time I fly near a sanctuary, my PT gets dragged straight down, which either kills me instantly or breaks my legs and leaves me stuck near players inside the sanctuary. This bug alone makes flying near sancs feel unsafe and honestly game-breaking for flyers.

There are also other long-time issues like landing bugs (This is effecting Herrera heavily as will), organ extraction bugs, corpse carrying bugs, Pterodactyls bug and dead PT bodies flying away after kills.

I also think PT desperately needs better flight flow:

  • Slight stamina regeneration while gliding
  • Slightly faster gliding speed or add a scrolling Increase / decrease speed like in some flying games.

Right now a 60 kg flying creature feels extremely heavy and slow during gliding. Currently Pt flying style feel like a Poor low quality version of Quetza.

As a PvP PT player, it also feels like every aggressive or skill-based playstyle is slowly disappearing. PT is so light now that even fresh spawn Omnis can pin it, while Rex, Carno knockdowns, and even sub-adult Troodons completely shut it down etc.. It feels like the only viable PvP option left is cannibalizing other PTs.

Instead of just buffing damage, I think PT would benefit more from skill-based aerial mechanics like:

  • Latching/grappling onto targets briefly
  • Blinding/disorientation attacks aimed at the head
  • Momentum-based flyby attacks
  • Better hit-and-run gameplay rewarding precision and movement mastery

Think about it like a Flying Troodon High-Risk High-Reword Play-Style.

The new running mechanic and diagonal back attack are appreciated, but with PT’s current weight and survivability, they are not enough on their own.

I understand PT is supposed to be a scavenger, but right now it sometimes feels more like a flying camera/fishing simulator than an actual playable creature.

PT used to feel rewarding because of the freedom, adrenaline rush, and ability to outplay larger creatures through skill. I really hope future changes keep that feeling alive while balancing realism and fun gameplay.

Thanks for all the hard work on the game.

I'd like to agree with other suggestions about getting some life into the oceans, though understand this may not be for some time now - which I don't mind waiting for! I just had a bit of a fun thought... Since these aren't all dinosaurs true to what we know them all as (like herrera in trees) I don't see why the devs can't have a bit of fun and make their own 'dino fish/water creature' to be added as a type of food source. I don't know what you plan for the area, if any yet. I just wanted to suggest it as something extra fun to look forward to and actually learn about vs expectations of what already exists in most games. Maybe it's daft, I think it'd just be fun 🙂

General impressions and thoughts for Austroraptor after two days of wandering around Hordetest: The Austro is really fun. Shaking prey makes the Austro enter nightmare fuel mode. The hit box to bite small prey like crabs and rabbits is awful. It took pouncing those in order to even catch them. Fish hat is really funny, but of course not right. Movement speed for walking feels slow, especially "Z" walking. The jump, I think, needs a bit more forward momentum. Other AI for diet requirements would be beneficial. I almost had no problem getting "A" diet, but "B" and "Y" were almost non-existent. Underwater vision could use a boost, but I understand Austro is semi-aquatic. Otherwise, it was a lot of fun and I can't wait for it to hit the public Evrima branch. It will certainly be interesting in a fully populated map.

Mechanic idea:
PT should be able to dive in water and fly out of water like a modern day fisher.

Why? It would be fun to catch prey or escape the water from an accidental fall-in. Right now PT feels bland, don’t get me wrong I love the direction it’s going in but this is just an idea to throw out there.

Balancing: In order to fly out of the water, it will take a good portion of stamina with a few-second wing flap to actually lift off out of the water completely! TI_ProudPtera

( Image of an Osprey taking flight out of water is the inspiration!)

Instead of glass bones being a permanent debuff it should be temporary and heals over time like vomit sickness.

Alternatively, you could go a unique route give some initiatives to us the players and make us complete some type of requirement to get it healed. I.e eat 50-75% Y diet to remove the debuff.

After it’s healed you should get a buff called “hardened bones” that prevents you from getting glass bones and increases your fracture resist.

More plants/objects around the map with same gameplay mangroves give for small animals. Despite it being pretty easy to get stuck in them once you learn how to traverse mangroves as something small it is really fun. Buffs, nerfs, changes needed for Allosaurus: Bite speed needs to be slower. Make the running claw swipe usable for both running and stationary moments. Remove pinslop and change it out for a temporary grab that does extremely high bleed but uses 10-20% stamina on use and has a long CD like Rex ambush. Make weather conditions more meaningful. Bleeders (also non-bleeders but less so) should have an easier time tracking blood in clear and cloudy weather rather than in rainfall due to no masking scents etc. During rainfall, smaller playable footprints should wash away faster, whereas larger ones should stay longer due to being deeper set in the ground. If scent gets reworked, wind should play a factor depending on if it's windy or not, and should benefit predator and prey in different scenarios. Storms should make rivers and water more turbulent (swimming in them during this time as a non-aquatic will drain your stamina more and make you slower), and less transparent/more murky in certain areas to the benefit of Deinosuchus + other semi/aquatics. If it's cloudy/overcast, all playables should have slower thirst drain due to less moisture loss from sun exposure. When insect AI is added in the future, make them more plentiful during the night, and after rainfall (or worms during rain). Make frog AI spawn more frequently in rain. During fog, all playables should have better stamina regen because of its cooling effects, especially pteranodon in the air. When lightning hits the ground during a thunderstorm, have a growth increase for plants near the strike zone for herbivores.

Scent Markers:

Allow players to place markers down via scratching trees/rocks or rubbing against them. This will function similar to a persistent point of interest on their compass, and can be useful for a varity of reasons.

Note, these scent markers can be sniffed by other creatures if close by, and replaced with their own scent marker. If you smell a scent marker that is different than your own, you can tell one of three things: a herbivore left it, a carnivore left it, or your own species left it.

This could add a new degree of interaction for players and assist even in finding interactions in less populated servers for those willing to take the risk. A keen eye might even be able to learn what exact species left the mark if each species has different claw marks or traces left behind, adding more nuance for experienced players to tell whether to hunt for possible prey or flee the area.

Maybe megalania has an easier time finding scents. When it holds sniff long enough, scentable footprints should glow blue mist like bloodsplats glow red mist after sniffing. This could give megalania a unique way to find prey.

Tree climbing:
I suggest that when megalania isn't climbing up, that it slowly slides down. Climbing should take a LOT of stamina. This means juvi megalania will have enough stamina (due to being juvi and therein having a bunch of stamina of course) to get up higher but the adults, with less stam, probably can't get very far before they're all out of stam and slide down.
This way you don't have to program the mechanic to go away at a certain age it will just regulate itself per the stamina of the creature.

Please make megalania climbing slower than herra climbing. Herra should be the better climber, I believe.

One problem with Rex on Rex spar

Something I noticed during combat practice. And I hope I’m getting this right so please correct me if I’m wrong.
Sometimes I like to start a Rex on Rex spar by blocking. However the block doesn’t work until the initial animation finishes for some reason, the one that occurs for whoever starts the spar. So I have let go of RMB and try to determine when it finishes before I activate the block, which is already hard to see cause of the chaos that is sparring in general (and the bugginess of it all). And not just block, this applies to all other moves. And for some reason, my opponent can execute any move they want while I’m stuck in this animation.
The end result is whoever starts the spar is put at a disadvantage. Personally I would fix this so all moves work at the start. I also don’t know if this applies to ceratopsians too, but same principle if so.

Let omnivores eat small dinosaurs that they can swallow whole (and whatever diet that Dino gives is what they will get) gives a good reason for omnivores to raid nests and hunt small playables because AI isn’t a thing in most unofficials server

Will definitely make them more entertaining to play because right now they are weaker glorified herbivores, gives us the thrill of hunting small playables and let us eat our kills.

Omnivore gameplay is poorly designed rn and made to be boring, it’s why you never see them tbh… make omnivores the true trolls and baby snatchers

This brings me to ovi, let ovi pick up live babies if they are light enough and run away with them, then swallow them whole when they want to eat them, oviraptor was an omnivore that ate some eggs but mostly small animals too so this would be really fun additional nest raiding mechanic (i wanna be chased by angry parents while holding their child pls)

I feel as if the devs have forgotten that deino is an apex, its weight scaling with its growth has been weird ever since it's release.

Why is it basically useless up until adult? And the damage, I understand balancing purposes but why does it significantly have less damage than the T Rex? And why does it have no other ability than "haha I grab smaller prey from edge of water but can't fight anything my own size that isn't just bite and repeat!!" It's a giant crocodile, give it death roll or something, crossing water as any dinosaur aside from sauropods should be risky if a deino is around.

Pinning is such an obvious blatantly unbalanced an unfun mechanic, it's genuinely baffling the devs even implemented it in the first place, but sure, let's forgive their lack of foresight, it is still just unforgivable how- even though the community has provided overwhelming feedback about what an astronomical issue pinning is for balance and enjoyment, the developers aren't just choosing to ignore it, but instead keep adding playables with a pin ability. I know this piece of feedback isn't going to be read by the devs and even if they do read it I know for a fact they aren't going to take it to heart, they've made that very clear. I'm just frustrated.

ALSO: easy fix for pin and pounce would be to simply add a simple level of skill to the mechanic. Like maybe needing to time RMB once more just as you attach to your target, and the better your timing, the longer you can stay attached. IDK anything to make combat just slightly more engaging than literally just pressing RMB once and winning by default. OK rant over.

Things to rework about the elder system with the next patch:

  1. Get rid of all speed changes, no matter if frail or prime and no matter if 75%, peak or 100%. Altering speed results in outright oppressive balance issues. Being able to run down people during peak is just as bad as being punished for reaching 100%.

  2. Make the tasks necessary to reach prime absolutely clear or even rework the whole system. Make it depend on how long you can maintain perfect diet during your growth for example. No matter what players shouldn't have to rely on invisible lists, 3rd party maps and yt guides to know how to play the game.

  3. Don't punish players for reaching 100% by reducing their stats or by making them infertile. This is especially annoying for smaller playables who depend on speed for survival and who reach 100% a lot quicker and are then excluded from nesting. It's also kinda weird to punish the player for being successful in what they are supposed to do in a survival game -> surviving

  4. This last one is my own hot take:
A prime elder should be something special. Something that is rare and difficult to reach. Right now it's just the new default version of an adult playable which is pretty boring.
My idea is that you only reach prime once you have filled all 16 mutation slots. This also means you can entomb more often than 3 times + you can change individual mutations (instead of resetting the ones of your previous life cycles). Succesfully raising a baby and/or surviving as a hatchling to 100% grants an additional mutation - to give nesting more purpose (again).
The point is to encourage and reward longterm survival gameplay. Imagine seeing a prime elder Rex with a system like that behind it. You know just by looking at the model that the player has gone through multiple life cycles without dying + has 16 mutations + has better stats (not speed). That would be the sight and prestige of a TRUE prime!

Parasaurolophus Suggestion – Sonic Orientation Disturbance

Parasaurolophus should have amazing animations and vocals, but I’d love to see a sonic ability become an actual gameplay mechanic rather than just concept art flavor.

The ability should disorient nearby enemies, but it needs clear limits to stay balanced. It should either have limited charges or a longer cooldown, and only work at close range to prevent abuse. Most importantly, the ability should be defensive rather than offensive. Not helping Paras hunt but to help them from being hunted. This would disrupt an enemy’s distant senses for sight, hearing, and scent while close ranged senses remains the same. This wouldn’t affect close up combat but to cause difficulties staying in track with it.

I hope this is valid feedback as I tried to consider both balanced gameplay and yet being an effective ability.

Allo rework

nerf bite speed

Slightly increase bite damage (if needed to fight ceras)

Pins and pounce wont work on tails

Pounce launch is slightly slower

Change grapple math to total weight of allos / 2 > weight of prey grappled.

Increase grapple pin for when prey is on low health, stam or bleed. For example two 3.6 ton allos can now pin 3.6 tons but if the prey is low stam then it can pin 7.2 tons. #OfAllos(AverageAlloWeight / 2) + #OfAllos(LowStat#(AverageAlloWeight / 2))

All trees and rocks can knock down allo from pounce with a small stun

Slightly better dismount

Also work or latency

Main rework

Pounce does less damage and bleed but slows the opponent more (nothing too crazy), disables some alt attacks (the ones that throw the whole body behind themselves, not maias), increases stam drain of enemy. Also increase stam cost of being latched on prey.

goal

The main goal is to balance allo while keeping its ability to hunt larger prey in a more unique way. This should make allo really strong at group play but allos prey can fight back by going near trees. Allos goal should be to either bleed the prey out or grapple it by deteriorating its stats (especially stam and bleed) until it is in grapple range.

DEINOSUCHUS COMBAT/MOVESET

right now, you basically just click two buttons with deino. its eating animation shows a deathroll, yet it lacks the ability to use it in combat

suggestions:

The deathroll can be used to instantly kill smaller creatures (like tenontosaurus and below) when the deino is a certain weight, and can deal some fracture damage to larger creatures. it would cost alot of stamina and would have a long cooldown

Reasoning:
Right now, drowning is pretty slow and leaves both the deino, and the grabbed player, waiting until the player drowns and can go back to the menu. noone likes to watch themselves die with no hope of escape when they just want to be a new dino. So this way,the deino gets food, and the other gets to play faster.

OTHER

Deino could have a tail whip attack, ive seen crocodiles whip their tails around, making it so the deino could do this to escape pins/grabs by dealing a certain amount of reflect damage to a rex would make it easier to escape and give it a bit more leeway, the tail attack could also be used as a minor distraction/stun to larger things when its trying to escape, it could do minimal damage and a medium amount of stamina cost, while also doing small stuns to things at a certain weight.

Reasoning: this gives it more of a chance to escape something like a rex, or a larger deinosuchus, having it be able to do this will not only allow it to be more then just a drowner, but to also be able to make an escape instead of being stuck on land waiting to die.

QOL

Allow deinos to carry juveniles and hatchlings and maybe even their own eggs in their mouths/on their backs, this way they can travel easier and protect them too.

Give deinos mud nests, crocodiles bury their eggs in mud, not sticks. its unreasonably hard to create a nest as a deino due to this, at the very least, give it a minor walking speed boost.

Feedback appreciated

Reason for ranking: fun and immersive.

3: hatch from an egg.
Reason for ranking: fun, immersive and adds incentive for nesting.

4: never get muscle spasms.
Reason for ranking: fun and immersive but it is the reason cannibalistic had to be made free because otherwise cannibals couldnt get prime. Cannibalistic being free is bad so negative points for that.

5: go to sanctuary.
Reason for ranking: it is a travel quest but you know where the nearest sanctuary is at all times as juvie so it is easy to complete. However deino and ptera cant smell the sanctuary even as juvies for some reason so negative points for that.

6: raise children to subadult.
Reason for ranking: how are you supposed to raise children to subadult before 75% growth? That is impossible. Change it to "raise children to juvenile" then it would be good.

7: travel to 2 migration zones.
Reason for ranking: you can only smell where the active migration zone is. It can take a very long time for it to change and even when it does theres a chance it rolls the same one again so its like it didnt even change. You need a map website to complete this consistently which sucks.

8: travel to 4 patrol zones.
Reason for ranking: same problem as the migration one but doubled since you need to do 4.

I know it would be a hard thing to get right, as there are many loopholes... but perhaps a comfort system around carnivores and carnivores, or herbivores and herbivores. For dinos that arent scavengers, perhaps a debuf due to anxiety around other dinos of the same diet after a certain time frame. I think it could lead to territories and even prevent mixpacking. I can see how it could be bypassed by leaving the area and coming back, and lead to issues during carnivores hunting carnivores... but maybe something could be figured out to prevent giant packs that destroy everything? Just an idea, a very rough one at that...

Not to be a debby downer here but the balance recently is not it. As more and more new dinos are released, almost every single one has had some sort of insanely oppressive ability that is just flat out not fun or engaging to play against.

It feels like once they are released, they are forgotten about in favor to work on the next dinosaur which leaves the balance of the game feeling extremely bland with machine gun allos with pounce to pin, crushbot rexes etc.

The new dinos that are currently coming out also have very questionable design elements that I can tell will make them offputting to play as/against.

Lets not even get into the ballpark of the bleed values in this game being outrageously inflated to the point where traumatic and epidermal are necessities?
It really takes away from the bleeder niche if everything is functionally a bleeder.

Most of the old playables feel weak in comparison because of the insane powercreep of the new ones, even if they are extremely oppressive(cerato).
And then we nerfed stego and kentro while leaving the carnivores alone all the while the community has asked for basically the opposite. TI_GalliConfusion

I think what the game may need is to take a brief pause before introducing any new species into the ecosystem and have a pretty thorough sitdown about the state of balancing in the game.

The peak of isle combat is when fights require patience and can last several minutes between evenly matched parties, not spamfests and bleed out simulator nowadays.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Isle. 3,000 hours. But the balancing really needs work as well as the polishing. I miss the strategy used in fights rather than just thinking "i've hit you a few times, now you die!" whether it be from dilo clones, bleed or rex bonebreak. TI_Succ

Is there any consideration for Mosasaurus in the future? I feel like it could fit The Isle really well since the map is already surrounded by ocean and the coastline currently feels underused. If marine AI and beaches were expanded with things like sea turtles, tuna, sharks, and nesting areas, the coastlines could become actual danger zones. Imagine a Rex eating a sea turtle on the beach and a Mosasaurus suddenly breaches out of the water and drags it offshore. Since Mosasaurus was a saltwater marine reptile, it also wouldn’t need to rely on freshwater rivers to function. You could have deep underwater cave systems and saltwater tunnels connected to different areas of the map, maybe even routes leading closer to the center of Gateway, allowing marine creatures to travel inland without needing shallow rivers everywhere. I think it would make the ocean feel alive instead of just empty space around the map while also adding a completely different playstyle from Deinosuchus.

Another flier besides just ptera and quetz would add a nice balance to the skies. We're getting a range of aquatic tiers, but it seems only one small tier flier and one apex. With such a well-designed flight mechanic maybe in the future if (and yes, I do know it's a big if) there's ever room for roster expansion, consider some mid-size fliers, or just more fliers of any size to add variety to playstyles. Ofc, I am saying this before quetz drops, but it would be nice to maybe even see something that could more efficiently pose a threat to a growing quetz in the skies than a ptera.

Make it “stomp” similar to a secretary birds against smaller playables since its legs seem like its main form of attack, some already suggesting a pounce stomp before and it would just fit so much better (like this it won’t contest the bald fantasy raptor in the game, but can still make them think twice since Austro isn’t as pinsloppable and can stomp you into a world of hurt)

Gameplay Progression – Mutations Feedback

The current mutation system lacks meaningful progression. Players can freely choose any mutation at each growth stage, making the system feel disconnected from gameplay.

Progressive gameplay is strongest when rewards are earned through player actions. Instead of all mutations being universally available, mutation options should reflect how the player survived and behaved.

Examples:

  • Frequent swimming unlocks aquatic mutations
  • Cannibalism unlocks cannibal traits
  • Frequent fighting unlocks combat mutations

This would encourage active playstyles, create long-term goals, and make each dinosaur feel shaped by its experiences rather than a simple menu selection.

Rocks still act as a get away free card, and a playable that ate generations of dinos in reallife is reduced to a nuisance you can trot away from.

The Sea
I know there are not many playables that can use the sea now but I think the coasts just feel a bit boring.

Add:
Waves + Tide

New Environments:
Sea grass beds (grazable underwater for beipi)
Coral Reefs

Food/Ai:
Seaweed at low tide - gives diet for certain playables
New fish Ai - sandeels (hide in sand if attacked/after proximity timer) + reef fish (shoaling and elite)
Sharks, e.g. tiger sharks, attracted by blood in water, threat to small playables, food for larger ones.
Swimming turtles
Sea birds + nests

Would also be cool to have new playables focussing on the sea, I have thought Ouranosaurus as a playable focussed on being a sea aquatic would be a unique niche.

How to fix pouncers

the problem with it is not that it is op, it's because of how it's all the same. Allo, omni, rex, allo, and asutro, have the same goal with pounces "to kill by pin, or just the pounce" why didn't I say trood in there? because it's goal with pounces is "to inject venom" that makes pounce unique, good, and fair. Why is a asutro pouncing like a allo? it doesn't make sense at all, asutro pounces should how a asutro does. Pounce wouldn't be bad if it was matching the play style of it's dino. make it where allos pounce goal should be "to do bleed", rex goal should be "to crushed bones" asutro "to incapacitate pray or hunters" and omni "to kill by pin". And and the better your timing, the longer you can stay attached with you're pounce, like what @open tundra said.

Played astrorapter for a while, it is good, but if we look on biological analogues to make it look more realistic, id make it more enduring and les probable to break feet. As well i thing adding Elite fish into diet is disputable adn deinosuchus as well. For now it plays good, but achieving Prime sometimes depends on luck, not on player skill, witch is disbalansed as one of core mechanics depends on chanсe. If i do not see much players and can`t get perfect diet, it not always it is because i wass not trying, but because there is trouble in achieving the diet. I Suggest adding Chicken, Rabbit and frog into different diets as they are more common, but you can not get sometime another diets.

I did not see single fish, I saw croc, but it was too big. Deer and Boar are not his diet, so biggest part of npc`s are unavailible.

Will there be bleed demage to NPSs? Because it is kinda logical. System is good, but is is hard for small dino to kill boar or deer, although thay havee jumping and bleeding mechanics.

Sleeping, Exercise and Eating should contribute to growth and also provide positive attributes. The old saying: A warrior should sleep like the tree, feast like the tiger and train like a monk has merit... even for dinosaurs!

Resting (not crouching in the trees) should provide a sprinkle of growth and if resting for longer than 2 minutes, should provide some kind of other small temporary stat boost.

Eating already gives us what we need via Diet, but I feel like this should be improved within standards... I mean, if you look after your dinosaur better, by ensuring it has a perfect diet all the time, you should be rewarded for your care.

Exercise: we do a lot of running, even the PHAT bois I've seen running around to eat flowers... this should carry some significance for health and stamina.

I also think, that while all dinosaurs should have their weight classes... it would be nice, if dinosaurs varied in their growth based on how you looked after them... if your an imbecile and can't look after your dinosaur properly.. it should be underdeveloped (regardless of prime or not)

Lets say if your a Prime T-rex, weighing in 12 tonnes. But you've looked after your self well, well rested, well eaten, well exercised... you get to be 13 tonnes.

If your a Raptor, weighing in at 500kg, you looked after your self enough to get 600kg at Primehood.

We. Need. A. Ticket. System!! The current way of reporting cheaters is so unbelievably counterintuitive and inefficient. Player will report cheater, admin will see the report and not reply as to alert the cheater, player assumes admin didn't see and gets angry at admins which in turn burn the admins out all the while the cheater is reading the chat for all to see and can log whenever they feel unsafe.
A discord ticket system would solve this problem easily.

We also need more admins. If possible, have separate ingame admin applications open rather than the usual several-months-long climb to the server admin role. Would require more admin logs to be implemented probably to prevent abuse though.

Some people just want to help with ingame issues, others just want to assist with discord moderation and the entire months long process to work up to server admin is extremely daunting and prevents people from wanting to apply since its unpaid labor. A lot of the time the admins we have are unfortunately unavailable or busy, so the cheaters will just run rampant, sometimes for several days over. Is it the admins' fault? No, not necessarily. There's just not enough of them paired with the unbelievably awful cheater report system.

Allos feedback : pounce and bite shouldnt be the mains tools from allo to hunt , allo needs to be a Dino with some skill not like now , in my opinion claws should be a lot more important on allos kit and pounce should be a secondary tool

#

Allo feedback : Turn Allo into an effective pack hunter against larger prey. Since it's in the higher end of mid-tier it should be good at punching up in weight especially in packs.

Make Allo more effective at taking down larger prey/targets such as Trike, Stego and Rex rather than a pinslop machine against anything smaller than it.

Instead of full on pinning it should be more focused on getting in bleed attacks and dodging in and out of attacks against larger prey.

Make the pounce a temporary latch that grabs onto the side of prey utilizing it's claws and a slam down of the hatchet bite then it jumps straight off.

Give Allo a charge hatchet bite or something that gives it more potency with it's hatchet bite as that would of been it's main method of attack as far as I have seen, landing hits that then bleed a target as the Allo follows behind.

To avoid mixpacking: maybe add something like stress levels if u stay with a different species for to long wich can cause sickness or lowered dmg and healing to the ones stressing out, idk about yall but there havent been a single fight in the game since i started playing evrima where i actually have a fair fight (most of the times i see groups of 3 rexes, 1 allo, 1 trike, 1 stego and 2 omnis, wich is kinda ridiculous in my opinion, ive also seen ppl in game trying to invite me to groups on dc where they literaly have districts to spread their mixpacking groups around the map and just go on a killing spree against everyone that isnt in the dc group or voice chat by flooding servers) so i think trying to solve this problem would help alot the players, alot of my friends left the game bcus of that and u can say "just join unnoficial semi realism servers" but the problem is, most of them dont let u play as apexes, ur stuck with 3 carnivores playables and 3 herbivores playables wich in my opinion is kinda boring, and ik alot of ppl in those mixpackers groups will vote for "no" in this post but i still think its important to solve this problem...

tooled around with austro a little bit today, im generally pretty impressed with it! its super cute, i love the spearfishing it gets, and it's diet variety is pretty good for a pescatarian while still being able to benefit from organs. my biggest complaint is that the walk speed is so critically slow for how fast it's stamina drains. theres not really a reason not to crouch walk everywhere to get benefits from the smaller silhouette and quieter footsteps until you can sprint again.

very fun overall, though! im enjoying my smaller, swimmier raptor. can't wait for it to come to evrima so i can be a little juvie killer!

Austroraptor RMB rework

Austroraptor's RMB functions as just another pounce, not much special going on for it. And while it works just fine, I think you could make something more interesting of it, especially for a playable that doesnt have combat prowess to make it as enjoyable as others.

I propose we give Austroraptor a jump aim while holding RMB like the Herrerasaurus. No new mechanics implemented, just an aim when holding RMB. QoL features like these that increase the range of what austro could do would really help make up for its lack of combat engagement and those who prefer less pvp playables.

  • First of all, It'd help it navigate difficult locations which are abundant in its environment like weaving through mangroves or hopping between small surfaces on the water.
  • Secondly, It'd be used to help hunt prey like fish or swimming targets in the water with a precise aim to help it land a hit instead of guessing a jump (which is difficult to get right from a distance).
    • On land, landing on a target while holding rmb after a jump will trigger the RMB pounce we have currently implemented, assuming its here to stay.
  • Additionally, it'd be really great if austro could have a charged jump. Again no new mechanics, just like hypsi's, mainly used to increase distance rather than height to differenciate it from hypsi, but both is fine.

-# also maybe a little polarized vision ability where you can see/sense underwater targets from the shore nearby like the concept art would be nice.. maybe it could be like, hold RMB while using scent?

I feel like until the game is actually stable enough so where people don't need a nasa super computer in order to run atleast 60 fps, I think we should reduce the size of the map and remove the clutter, like random unnecessary foliage, random infrastructures, especially the ones for humans (although temporarily) as humans won't be out for a long time and the game needs to actually run properly for them to be added anyways, I feel like the map being too big and too cluttered is affecting performance, the Spiro gateway map was great size wise, with 115 players the map is too big.

Many old statements about MZ’s. Most of it hasn’t aged well as most of these factors of MZ’s simply dont work or are outdated due to PZ’s

PZ’s negate MZ’s completely as a system designed to keep herbivores moving. Carnivores can’t change which MZ they see on the map for the animals on their diet lists. Waiting 5 min as a carnivore to see a new MZ just isn’t a good idea anymore with the inclusion of needing to go there for elder.

The Migration system as a concept is super cool and brings together a lot of the PVE element the game desperately needs in so many ways, but fails to do so due to being counterintuitive and rather outdated. The system is in DESPERATE need of a rework/QOL focused HT for it

With all the new semi-aquatics coming to the game, everything underwater should feel less like a barren wasteland. There is no diversity underwater at the moment, all the plants are exactly the same, it gets old. If this is tended to, and the underwater vision is reworked, underwater ecosystems could look beautiful rather than ugly, and make it more enjoyable for aquatics and semi-aquatics alike. People would definitely spend more time in the water exploring etc.

Can we please give beipi at least slightly better underwater vision? There have been several times today where I've been swimming actively looking out for deinos ready to run away and they just see me like an entire 10 seconds before I can even see them and I don't have time to react before I die. I get its supposed to go onto land to escape deinos but in order to escape it should probably see a little bit better. The underwater vision as a whole is pretty bad across the board tbh. ☹️

Diet System – Feedback

The current diet system feels overly simplistic and lacks meaningful survival depth.

Food sources should contain varied nutrient values instead of only providing one specific nutrient type. This would make diets feel more natural and make most food sources more rewarding.

Nutrient neglect should also have stronger consequences. If nutrients become more accessible overall, there should still be reasons to maintain a balanced diet rather than ignore it.

Lastly, scenting could adapt to the player’s nutritional needs. For example, low protein should make protein-rich foods easier to detect.

These changes would make the diet system feel more dynamic, immersive, and survival-focused.

Probably a debatable topic, but make Pachy a true omnivore. There aren't many omnivores (the ones that do exist have an extremely limited carnivorous diet of only AI), and it's feasible that it actually was an opportunistic omnivore IRL. I have said it in the past, and at my own peril I say it again. Put the plants back all over the map. When individual plants spawn in only specific locations, players actually LEARN the map instead of just following the MZ indicator. MZ system should not be for diet, it should be for nesting.

When potato root spawned by the rivers, and mountain ash spawned in swamp, and aloe spawned in center, and pumpkin and marigolds spawned in northwest fields, and mango could be found in northeast, people moved naturally, by choice, and were STILL motivated to move because of diet. You were more likely to find players and herds on the move to their next plant spawn. I even remember exactly where every plant species used to spawn at. I haven't played spiro in years. If you asked me what plants I'm even eating in the game right now as an herbivore, I could not tell you. I don't have to think about that anymore, and that KILLS the immersion. Carnivore players were also encouraged to learn the diets and habits of their prey and where their prey's food spawns.

MZ system as is currently encourages less intelligent gameplay which is far less fun and far less engaging. Walk to your zone; sniff your zone; eat the food there. I want to think when I play the game again. At least, reimplement it as a server option.

Sidenote; it's also way cooler to have a map with natural plant spawns since it allows players to engage with the map dynamically and also increases immersion because seeing plants live where they would naturally is also just way cooler than everything on my diet arriving to my dinner plate... in the jungle, for some reason.

ENVIROMENTAL MUTATIONS

Having mutations that encourage a specific lifestyle would be fun, having certain buffs / debuffs so its not just OP. only being able to unlock and use one per dinosaur. (even if you entomb) so this way there would be a bonus to living a certain place.

THESE ARE ALL JUST SUGGESTIONS ON HOW IT COULD WORK

Coastal mutation - unlocked by getting saltwater mutation, and eating a certain amount of Coastal/beach Plants/AI. it permanently adds Coastal/beach AI/plants to diet, But removes Forest/swamp AI/plants from your diet. It will also give you a minor swimming boost if swimming in saltwater, but makes you swim slower in freshwater.

Forested mutation - unlocked by living in a forested biome and eating Forest ai/plants for a certain amount of time. Adds deer, boar, and forest AI/plants to your diet but removes turtles, crabs, and things you might find on plains/oceans from your diet. Gives increased Scent radius, And your footsteps fade faster if they are on dirt/leaf clutter, increases climbing speed for herrera, and decreases the stamina cost for climbing for hypsi

Swampy mutation - unlocked by living in a swamp/mangroves and eating swamp/mangrove Ai/plants for a certain amount of time. Adds swamp faring AI/plants to your diet, allows you to catch schooling fish near the surface of the water if you are a carnivore, increases swim speed in water with algae in it, If you have algae on your back your footsteps fade faster, removes coastal and forest ai/plants from your diet. decreases swim speed in salt water. Makes it so you cant vomit or get food poisoning from eating rotten meat (it isnt diet if its not already diet however).

if you get one of three, you cant get the others, and if you get forested or swampy you can go longer unlock reniculate kidneys and things like that.

Constructive feedback appreciated, just be kind.

Along with the current stamina system, the randomly placed and unnecessary "walls" of the map are so annoying, when traveling the map at all I often get blocked off because idk, 50 cliffs and random big structures that serve zero purpose but to get in my way and make it harder to actually go to my migration zone or yknow, where the FOOD IS AT.

I don't WANT to stay in swamp all the time and pick up scraps of A diet. I don't WANT to have to go in a zigzag in the forests in order to get to a pond or WHERE THE FOOD IS AT. I don't want to spawn in an area where my only active migration zone showing is across the map WHERE ALL THE FOOD IS AT. I don't want to try and get prime because frail is a death sentence, especially when a dinosaur who grows in less than 2 hours can't constantly travel the map TO GET TO WHERE ALL THE FOOD IS AT. I spend more time trying to get around random walls and cliffs than actually playing the game and surviving.

And there is no map provided from the devs at all and makes the game so much harder if someone is new or is unaware that there are maps, and oh idk, vulnona has certain spots (but not all) marked as danger zones, very weird spots and crevices due to how the map is designed that cannot be escaped because the command wont work properly, and god forbid another person is stuck in there with you too, and yknow u only got stuck there because you were trying to get to WHERE ALL THE FOOD IS AT.

I'm not saying everything should be a simple straight line from each other by my god.

Marked in red are the barriers shown by just looking at the map (there are more ofc but generally stuff u have to go around) Purple is swamps tunnel, yellow is the pathing me and other people make to get to the various migration zones, mainly delta.

This is a bit of a moonshot suggestion for the far future but I want to put the idea forward. For gen 1's, at some point in time taming dinosaurs was thought to be a potential mechanic. I think nowadays it may have been cancelled but I'm not sure. It will be a long time until gen 1's get to the game and a lot can happen in the meantime. If at some point it's reconfirmed, this might be a good way to do it. First of all, it should be impossible to tame an actual player, only ai should be available. Second, I think taming should be about control. Control is a value that goes up or down depending on the situation. Higher control means that you can more easily and reliably command that dino. Lower control means the dino might ignore commands, run away, or even attack its controller. It can be increased with both the carrot and the stick. The stick will make the dino fear you, which gains you control faster. Fear is however more volatile and will lose control faster when the situation gets unstable. For example, if the dino finds an opportunity to escape it is more prone to do so. The carrot will make the dino respect and trust you more. This control is gained slower, but is also lost slower. They are still wild animals and may be unreliable, but their potential could also give your tribe an edge against dinos, mercenaries, or other tribes.

  • Fix the hackers. Not a little tiny momentary fix. A HUGE fix. This is getting ridiculous. Do SOMETHING.
  • Get rid of MZs and PZs. Place diet all over the map like in Spiro. Everyone migrated for food. And we got to choose when to migrate rather than staying in one damn MZ for HOURS. It's not fun and YOU GUYS (the devs) are creating the hotspots you oh so hate. It's a nice (MZ and PZs) concept on paper but horrible execution.
  • Get rid of pinslop. Let us fight back. Let us do SOMETHING against our attacker.

There’s a lot of nice changes with this HT in regards to the map.
Obviously we have the potentially austro caused crashes rn but I’m sure that’ll get fixed soon.
Adding more small and mid tiers is such a great move, as is the rebalancing of some Dino’s.
However, Allo and Rex still feel relatively OP, with Allo bite speed and Rex mobility.
Austro is stupid fast sprinting but otherwise feels very slow for its trot. And I’m hoping it’s a bug, but the kicks/alt attacks deal an absurd amount of damage. But it’s pin isn’t awful, considering its weight but smaller things like Troodon, dryo, and hypsi are gonna struggle with how open a lot of the underbrush is now.

A mutation that allows you to eat rotting meat would be cool.

Also a food cache system for predators would be neat. Kill something that drops organs, but keep the body intact. You can bury it slightly and only you can find it from a long distance since you know where it is. Other carnivores can't smell it unless they're within a close distance (except ceras)

We have featherless Dromaeosaurs running around covered head to toe in scales who have been shoved into a island and have become pack hunters.

I think a heavily feathered T.rex is fine

In the end all I care about is skeletal accuracy and realistic scaling. Spinosaurus gets a free pass for now since he's being a big bag of dicks.

#

But I want muh accurate Utahraptor. Where's the bear eagle

low saffron
#

I want a realistic utahraptor that won't kill my frame rate

white obsidian

@stiff veldt I think spino could be more accurately modeled though with the confirmed type a spino coming we will have both in-game regardless until they discover more about the actual skeleton of spino.

blissful plume
#

I thought the dinosaurs on the isle were manufactured like in Jurassic Park. If that’s the case then some inaccuracies like lack of feathers and spinosaurus’ longer legs are no big deal.

white obsidian
#

@blissful plume No the dinos in The Isle are not based off Jurassic Park. (1) That would be copyrighted (2) I don't see how you think the dinos look anything like JP including the spino and feathers. The austro and theri have feathers.

The only likeness I was referring to is that the dinosaurs were man made. I wasn’t trying to say they are supposed to be copies of Jurassic parks dinosaurs.

stiff veldt
#

A. The more aquatic Spino isn't confirmed really. @white obsidian
B. We don't have enough to even tell what the sail is like.
And C. @blissful plume pretty sure the animals are supposed to be mostly accurate to their real selves. The strains don't count and those are the only "mutant abomination"

From the lore deal we have seen the Magna is meant to have come around with little to no genetic tampering or something like that.

Was talking with some others about Deinosuchus last night and were discussing ways to encourage the player to spend time out of the water basking as opposed to just playing it safe in water the whole time. What we came up with was to possibly tie it to their oxygen meter, letting it double as an energy meter of sorts on top of their air supply. Full oxygen could last the Deino for a very long time, thinking 5-10 minutes. Swimming at the surface of the water will not replenish oxygen but will keep it from decreasing further. To actually replenish it, they must come to shore and bask. It will take some minutes (I was thinking 1-3 as a start, changing later if needed) to fully regen. But if done like this, the Deino player is required to spend time underwater (hunting/hiding), floating at the surface (waiting) and also in a vulnerable basking state, without forcing the player to act a certain way

stiff veldt
#

I would imagine it could act more like a PUBG or Fortnite style health system @rare hedge. Staying at the surface will give you about half-3/4ths the bar but it will drain faster if you stay mid depth. Going to the bottom will make it last longer (aka resting on the bottom) and of course lugging yourself out will top it off (and maybe a little buff like faster digestion to help healing) of course damage such as bleed will stop the actual healing until bleeding stops

Also if they add marine Reptiles I hope they add:
-Mosasaurus

-Ichthyosaurus

And finally, if they add Non-Dinosaur Reptiles I hope they add:
-Postosuchus

-Deinosuchus
-Titanoboa

Marine Reptiles will be fun

I'm ok

Woudlnt even be able to eat it anyway

Id love for marine reptiles come soon to. From what Ive seen the pteradon and dimorphadon are still planned to come in with the quets as the big guy

marble swift
#

I like that idea, Souretsu!

#

Also

#

Not tryna sound like an asshole

#

But if you want all those creatures in

#

A) give a good reason as to why they would be an engaging and unique experience. And not just one or two sentences. Like... a good explanation

#

And B) do take into account that adding all those creatures in would both cost a ton of money, and would take the developer’s time away from creating crucial mechanics and features for the animals already in. Not to mention it would also take away from fixing bugs and glitches, and turn this game into another ARK: Survival Evolved.

#

Again, not trying to be an ass. I do know that these are mere suggestions and that, honestly, some of these creatures would be kind of neat to see in a game such as this, but you have to take into account what putting in so many things at once could affect the game in the long run.

jolly comet
#

Quality > Quantity

#

ARk is a hot dumpster fire because all its devs cared about was injecting as much basal content at once as possible

#

and what does that leave us with?

#

Dozen of animals with lack luster mechanics, eye bleeding animations, too many bugs to count, and piss poor optimization that leaves ARK available to only those with monster computers, and are ok with the game crashing every five mins

#

Making a genuine, quality product takes an immense amount of time and attention on the stuff that might seem mundane or boring to the average consumer, but thats because theres nothing flashy about bug fixes

#

I'm all for suggesting new content, new creatures, new mechanics, ABSOLUTELY. But like Skell said, the team has a huge emphasis on quality, gameplay needs to be engaging from points other than "its a new creature"

#

I'd say we hold off on spamming new creature ideas, and instead look at whats already rigged, skinned and ready, and see if we can't find anything unique to apply to them?

misty mauve
#

wants to post my Highland Giant, Gigantoraptor, Lurdusaurus, and Carbonemys suggestions

jolly comet
#

im not saying you can't

#

im just say that, even if they are excellent, id expect them on back burner

#

since we just dont have a model

misty mauve
#

Yeah, I don't expect them to be high-priority.

#

I've come to expect suggestions for new things to be added to be low-priority. Being in the Bloons TD fanbase kinda does that to you.

#

Especially with the constant spam of "new tower X" and "new tower Y" NinjaKiwi gets.

misty mauve
#

So, let's start out with the basic concept for my Carbonemys suggestion.

A massive turtle resembling its close relative, the matamata, in most respects, Carbonemys looks almost comical with its countless wattles along its neck and such. They barely look like a real animal. However, do not underestimate them. Carbonemys can only manage a relatively weak nip on land, but in the water, it is capable of sucking small animals into its jaws in a split second. By "small", we mean "anything from a tiny Psittacosaurus to a juvenile T. rex in size". Carbonemys rarely leaves its watery habitats, preferring to keep to lakes, ponds, rivers, and such. If on land, the giant turtle is severely outclassed by its peers, and makes an easy target. Of course, it helps to have the element of surprise on your side, and Carbonemys is usually quite well-camouflaged, even on land.

#

TL;DR - heavily-armoured water-based ambush predator that has trouble on land

fervent kiln
#

Wouldn't that be very similar to deinosuchos' gameplay?

misty mauve
#

...Huh. I did not think of that.

#

Any way to make it more original?

fervent kiln
#

Retracting in the shell? But considering it's size might not be that effective

misty mauve
#

It's a pleurodire, though...

soft knoll
#

Carbonemys was actually kind of small irl, at least relative to other creatures in the Isle at 1.72m, so length wise it was shorter than a velociraptor which is up to 2.07m long

#

Or let me correct that a little, the shell of Carbonemys was 1.72m in lenghth, so the whole animal would likely be longer than velociraptor in length

There is also Stupendemys, a relative of Carbonemys that may have had a shell over 3 meters long and would be rather gargantuan. Adults could fill a role as big aquatic prey for Deinosuchus specifically (say, being too armored for Spinosaurus to really dent) as well.

#

Might as well have something like.. idk, Archelon, Terlinguachelys or Ocepechelon for the sea.

stiff veldt
#

Carbonemys is also not Mesozoic

sacred haven
#

Suggestion for a survival suited theri: I know weather was being worked on. And theri is the only dinosaur with what can be considered an insulating cover of feathers. What if alone, they could handle the cold better than most dinos and not be affected for a longer period of time. However in a group they could be immune to the cold if they huddle together. However they would be weaker to fire damage because of said protofeathers catching on fire. (said immunity to cold could work to the advantage of tribals who want to stay out of mercs way to build up a truly formidable tribe)

Another ability they may have is "sharpen claws" where you scrape you claws against trees and rocks to keep them doing perhaps a cap of 130% dmg, and over time that damage bonus goes down unless you sharpen then again. Sharpening should also make a loud grating noise so theris who want to stay hidden have to run rather than attack, and those who are loud are more prepped to defend themselves

stiff veldt
#

I mean we have Titanoboa (maybe) so there's that. But not really much there for a turtle

shadow grotto
#

I don't think temperature will be a thing.

sacred haven

There was an instance when Dondi was showing off snow that frost showed up on his screen. I'm pretty damn sure cold will be a thing and will slowly kill you with a similar HUD like blood and the frost i mentioned. Otherwise why even bother with snow?

oh god that frost thing sounds so cool

I'm not sure if it should kill you but a debuff would be cool

perhaps lower Camaras tail whip damage to the point where it maybe 3-4 shots apexes instead of instant like a Puerta so that way it’s a bit more balanced for its size , and since I’ve been told it’s current health is 40k maybe lowering it to 20k (which I think is more than shant has) would be more balanced. (Not sure if all of this is already planned tho) and after its tail animation is fixed that’s pretty much it really. The whips really good in combat from what I’ve tested and is more than enough for it to protect itself. Just thought a tweak or two would help

jade vale

@spare flume cama's tailwhip is broken like theris 3 swipe. you have no idea if its gonna hit 3 or 8 times.

spare flume
#

Not really the animation just doesn’t play it usually hits about once which is basically all it takes

#

Camara basically has Pues stats

sacred haven

it still hits more times than once. the animation doesnt show it though

#

best bet is to get it while its stomping

spare flume
#

That’s what I said , the animation doesn’t play , but you can usually tell when you see the wind wish effect by its rear that means it’s using its tail once at a time not 3 like a theris swipe. And since it’s damage is basically on par with pue it can one shot most animals

sacred haven
#

Yes, but here's the thing. While it is modded, i play on a server where the animation works. the modder said that he couldnt nerf the cama's damage because it hits too many times so it always one-to-two shots XD

stiff veldt
#

I mean. A long bow shot should be able to kill a Utah within like a minute

#

Problem is if you're going to be alive before that minute is up

violet hatch
#

Depends very much on the bow, arrow, location of hit and what dinosaur

stiff veldt
#

A long bow shot could impail itself through some armor plating. So yay.

violet hatch
#

A long bow with a ridiculous draw weight and bodkin arrows maybe, but tribals most likely don't have the tech to create such weapons. Most long bow shots would just bounce off of steel plate. Imo a bow for tribals should be used for small game only such as Utahs and the like, perhaps up to Allosaurus.

stiff veldt
#

Stuff like arrows tend have a fail rate. Shame we couldnt accurately portray that

spare flume

How is that bird still alive

#

Sweet Jesus

pearl patio
#

violet hatch
#

If Tribals had a bow powerful enough to effectively kill an animal like a Trike they would definetly not be able to move whilst drawing the bow and not be able to hold the draw for longer than a couple seconds. Bows of that weight take a huuuge amount of strength to just draw alone, moving is out of the question once it's drawn

stiff veldt
#

TBH. I would take the bullshit logic of how they make it for a bow that to (possibly) kill a allosaurus use half your stamina or something crazy and not be allowed to move for at least like 4 seconds to draw and steadily aim

#

I really want a bow in a game that's not thought to be mostly weak compared to a melee weapon

violet hatch
#

My suggestion is to allow the bows to be used with much more mobility eg. being able to move with it drawn and hold it for a longer time in exchange for it to be very weak against large animals. Native American bows for example had draw weights of around 40 (i'm assuming the tribals will have a comparable tech level) and that's not nearly enough to take down a large animal at a decent range without the aid of poisons.

If Tribals want a ranged weapon to take down a large animal use spears, these would also require you to get closer which stops it from being an easy snipe. The problem with making bows really strong is that arrows will most likely be a pretty common resource and making these weapons too powerful leads to a large imbalance.

If you want a ranged weapon that will take down large animals from a long distance play Merc and hope you find a good rifle.

blissful plume
#

How about poison tipped arrows? All you have to do is break the skin. Regular bows are good for small game but you need more arrows and poison for some of the bigger ones.

violet hatch
#

Yes I did mention poison, I think it could work well. Having them have to be made from some rare resources bypasses the problem of them being too common.

Perhaps instead of them just being a shoot and wait to for them to die mechanic you could use them as a sort of buff for hunting. eg. You kill a Dilo and use its venom on some arrows, once you shoot your target instead of the poison actually just killing them it has the same effect as the Dilo venom, making the target more susceptible to bleed. Once you've shot them with it it'd make it a lot easier to bleed it out using other weapons.

dire bone
#

if a "singleplayer" type of thing is gonna happen for The Isle, i'd like to see some carnivore AI to mix up the fun rather than just herbivore. this way you have something more threatening to fear. ofc the bigger the creature, the less likely you are to see it. kind of a weak suggestion but it'd be cool to see

violet hatch
#

^ Carnivore AI is planned afaik

dire bone
#

cool !

blissful plume
#

Different arrow tip? Wider but more brittle tips made from volcanic glass for bleed damage and more narrow tips made from stone for penetrating thicker hides. There’s also spears to consider. Maybe you need those to handle larger animals. You can add poison for status effects.

#

Oh and traps. Snares and swinging spike traps for passive hunting.

sacred haven
#

larger boar spears might be a good option to stop a charging predator or ceratopstian in their tracks temporarily

hoary monolith
#

Bolas would be nice, along with a sickle of sort, but people might overuse it, so perhaps a counterbalance of it by increased plant growth in that area?

open dirge
#

Give Spino an alternative attack, one which it bites forward and not into the ground. This solves the issue of Spino not landing their hits cause their face is in the ground while running.

quasi nimbus
#

You should make it so that growth is slowed down by 50% if you're starving or dehydratated

#

Doesn't increase if both

#

And maybe make it so that to grow you actually need a certain amount of hunger/thirst/time spent as max size

quasi nimbus
#

Also, it would be nice if you could get rid of that thing where nests stop you from gaining points

#

Its really not necessary

#

It makes it so people only want to nest as top tier creatures, while nesting as let's say, an allo just becomes an annoyance because you lose like 100 progression points by the time the nest disappears.

hoary monolith
#

Perhaps this is too niche, but an interesting and potential feature for humans I thought of could be having a really long stick for cases for polevaulting. Now it sounds REALLY stupid at first, but it could be very useful for getting up and over steep cliffs or could used to get up to a higher part on trees to avoid most carnivores (cept probably cannibals).

vague trench
#

The only reason that bird was still alive is because that arrow had no top on it or it had a practice tip that fell off

#

Any sort of hunting tip would’ve made that bird explode

ancient plover
#

Kentrosaurus: Unique Survival Ability

Kentrosaurus could swipe with its tail like stego (obviously) but I was also thinking that, when you press space, the attacks alternate to a quick 180-degree turn in place either to the left or the right using their respective mouse button. This allows the kentro to use his shoulder spikes defensively. Pressing space again would change the default attacks back to the tail. The shoulder spike attack does more bleed to the opponent than the tail attack, but the shoulder attack takes say, 30 stam to initiate, and cannot be used as quickly as the tail.

That sounds like it would just leave your scent everywhere

Yea

pretty much

And make you easier to find

errant thistle

I mean if your scent is all over the damn place it is harder to pinpoint you

sterile vortex

What about making it your glowing in the dark

errant thistle

but something like that would work better on a more agile creature

#

...

#

how would glowing help a carnivore

#

you can't hide from the things hunting you, or the things you are hunting

#

the ability has to be helpful as well

#

not just cool

sterile vortex

I mean not glowing your body I mean like making your night vision better a sort of way

errant thistle

like trike shooting its horns

#

cool, not helpful

or at least not more than once

sterile vortex
#

Right

errant thistle
#

better night vision is just a thing carnivores have

#

to improve it would be to go full noctournal

#

and limiting playtime to just day or night sucks

#

cause then it's "well shit, gotta wait till night now"

sterile vortex
#

Yea

errant thistle
#

Yutyrannus doesn't really make itself to special if you take away the fluff

#

basicly just a fluffy albert the size of an allo

#

and we have a few carnivores in that size range already

sterile vortex
#

Yea right

#

I would like to see it in game by his feathers

errant thistle
#

keep in mind it is $6000 per dino

sterile vortex

A special way but there’s no room for it

errant thistle

so anything that has no merits besides looks means unlikely

#

unless the devs do dlc packs post release

sterile vortex

Yee

#

Well ima think on a herb now than a carnivore

delicate dagger
#

I don't see a point in spending $6000 to implement an animal that would barely add anything new that isn't already founded in the current roster

errant thistle
#

before you suggest, think if we already have something like it

#

like Lambeo wouldn't be likely, cause shant

delicate dagger

too bad yuty is probably just too much like allo

and of course

something like Tarbosaurus would be totally boring to add

sterile vortex

Tarbosaurs has no room literally

#

Tarbosaurus is actually the slimmer rex but still bulkier and larger than Albertasaurus

sterile vortex

I like the idea something smaller than a rex but it just has no room for it

I would like astro and then like Yutyrannus

Anyways I have no ideas at all lol

Just a tiny feature that can be put in towards the end of finalizing ai behavior:
when a dinosaur is with another dinosaur of its species, it will occasionally f roar, as if it was being controlled by a player talking to his friend in the local chat. this would just make it harder to distinguish ai from players once ai is more polished.

quasi nimbus
#

Maybe instead of being for visuals only, it could actually transfer info to the other dinosaur

So like it would tell him "i saw food over there" or "I was a predator over there"

Pretty sure skins aren’t really goin to be a thing with the new skin system

Mid-height trees. It seems that when I see the newer maps being worked on, I see a lot of evergreens of roughly the same height being used to create coverage for the long branchless trunks of the taller trees, which is all fine and good, but because the evergreens fit in "too nicely"
underneathe the taller trees, it sometimes looks a little unnatural, too conveinently placed.

signal forum
#

Im not sure what weapons/vehicles the Dev's plan to add in the future. But I suggest they make some sort of four-wheelers. Since with maps like the new V3 big vehicles aren't going to fit into the trees aswell as a small four-wheeler. It seems like something small but it sounds like something that could be actually useful especially if the Mercenary's (probably butchered that) are going into Tribal areas they might need to be quick and able to shoot with ease when driving around.

lethal flame
#

So, if I suggest a toggle sprint option am I going to be called an idiot here as well?

ancient plover
#

I mean, what would a toggle sprint button do to improve game play?

lethal flame
#

It’s a simple QoL option, I don’t see what’s so wrong with not having to hold down a button to sprint a certain distance (especially for the larger stamina pools and the large travel space in the maps), a simple press so start sprinting-press to stop option with no mechanical changes.

#

It’s not a game changer I get that but I don’t know what’s the harm nor do I see it as a priority over more significant mechanics obviously

#

I just don’t get the aggressive reception

median pivot
#

Probably because it's something that's been suggested a million times before and summarily shot down each time.

#

Gets old after a while I imagine.

quiet sand
#

If you can't handle holding down a button to run away from/after another creature, you don't deserve the dino you're playing

sacred haven
#

Perhaps because a toggle would actually be more work (click to turn on, click to turn off, and imagine how that would fuck you over in a fight). And would make players more prone to wasting their precious stamina and being caught out and dying. Holding it down is a remind that you are spending resources.

lethal flame
#

Hybrid, I mean it more for the traveling purposes, holding down the button for that long can be straining, especially with how much distance once has to cover in this game. Also that’s rather rude.

#

Keitsumah I see what you mean, but I mean that would be the player’s choice wouldn’t it? Some can manage better with holding while others can do better with the toggle.

strong vigil
#

You could contact someone with the devkit and make it a mod if you feel so strongly about it

lethal flame
#

Geez, why the need to be so rude.

strong vigil
#

I wasn't being rude?

#

My apologies if it appeared that way, wasn't the intent

lethal flame
#

Sorry then, “do it yourself” comments do tend to be rude, no worries.

sacred haven
#

I can see why a toggle might be nice for long distance travel, however that would need to be an option you would know about previously and then go into your settings to change it, and thats if the devs added it. I trot most of the time, so I can easilly outstrip anyone and keep my ears open for any danger/prey depending on whether im playing a herb or carnivore. and in combat such as when being ambushed (which you can never plan for and reset your setting from toggle to hold beforehand unless hunting) needing to click two separate times to start and stop sprinting can mean the difference between life and death, as you may need to stop sprinting in a fight to get a better turn radius and land that last critical hit to kill your enemy before they bite you another two times to stack up fatal bleed.

lethal flame
#

Well, I did say it would be an option.

sacred haven
#

Yes, but it would be a detrimental one if you read the rest of my post. Which isnt in the interest of the devs I think

copper scroll
#

A lot of games just use numlock for movement toggle I believe

rare hedge
#

I wouldn't see the harm in a "toggle sprint" option in the game settings. I know I prefer toggle crouching and aiming down sight

copper scroll
#

I remember once recently I was watching dondi play as a Utah, and it looked like the Utah may have had acceleration activated. If that's part of the plan, I could see why maybe they don't want a toggle as well

lethal flame
#

I wouldn’t know if dondi and co. are against this at all, it’s a very general game feature hence why I mentioned it. As for your snippet I can see where you’re coming from and understand what you mean, but I just gotta ask and don’t want to sound pedantic about it, wouldn’t a player adapt to whatever they’ve chosen since it’d be their style?

copper scroll
#

Yeah I imagine if someone chose to toggle movement, they are doing that at their own risk

sacred haven
#

Mhm.

rare hedge
#

I'm not saying it would be wise to use a sprint toggle, but I can't imagine it being too hard to add

copper scroll
#

Maybe not a Sprint toggle but a generalized movement toggle

rare hedge
#

Better to keep things separate for increased customization

copper scroll
#

Rahu if you are curious, there is currently a way to toggle movement

#

Not in game on purpose though, but a way

lethal flame
#

I mean I am no programmer so forgive me for my ignorance but in theory a sprint toggle would pretty much be the same as holding the button down except one tap would register the command of ‘holding’ while a second would register the ‘release’, right?

#

That’s interesting to know, meliora

sacred haven
#

oh you mean the shift+tab thing Meliora?

copper scroll
#

Yeah

#

Wait, you actually want a SPRINT toggle?

#

Not a movement toggle?

#

🤔

sacred haven
#

just keep moving the pace you want then shift+tab and keep holding your movement keys then shift+tab out, then shift+tab in and let go and you can shift+tab out to steer (for those who want to know)

copper scroll
#

Yeah I ain't a game Dev but an actual Sprint toggle seems like bad news bears

sacred haven
#

already pointed that out Meli 😛 XD

copper scroll
#

Especially since stamina runs out so quickly
For some dinos it's a matter of seconds

ancient plover
#

I don't like the idea

#

It promotes laziness

#

all you gotta do is press a button and go a direction

lethal flame
#

In what sense?

#

So? I don’t see how that’s lazy, you still need to hold down the direction button as well as be aware of when to stop sprinting

ancient plover
#

still sounds a bit lazy imo

#

but I've never actually tried it so

lethal flame
#

I mean most games with big spaces utilize that feature I believe so players don’t tire out one of their fingers when having to travel long distances.

rare hedge
#

Toggling an input that you typically hold for several seconds at a time isn't going against anything the game sets out to do. Player options are an important thing to consider. If enough people actually want a feature like that I'm sure it could be added

lethal flame
#

I’d hope so, I actually wonder what is the devs’ stance on this if it has been brought up at all before.

copper scroll
#

Rahu do you mean to toggle W or shift?

lethal flame
#

Shift

rare hedge
#

Actually, we're talking about pressing shift once while moving to sprint, and reverting back to walking/trotting after taking your hand of WASD right?

lethal flame
#

Yep

#

As most games do

rare hedge
#

I wouldn't say most, but it's a pretty common feature yeah

lethal flame
#

Ok most I’ve played do it that way but yeah.

untold kraken
#

Most games I've played don't have that feature x) I find it easier to just hold shift to toggle sprint then trot/walk once shift is released

lethal flame
#

Well as it has been said, it’s up to player preference :)

quasi nimbus

Suggestion: it would be cool if nested in dinos were always slightly stronger than their parents (like by a factor of 0.05/0.1). So, if an adult utah is currently sized 0.8, weights and has 800 health (just theorizing), deals 50 damage and 4 bleed, the baby would spawn in and have 1.05x the stats of a normal utah. So in the end, when it reaches adult, the previous list would look like this: size: 0.85, weight/health: 840, damage: 53, bleed: 4. If that utahs decides to nest as well, the nested in utah would be exactly the same except everything is multiplied by 1.1 from utah's base stats

#

so in just 4 generations you'd have a 1.0 utah

#

if it were to be added it would give nesting a purpose in the current survival game

hidden storm
#

having it guaranteed to be better probably wouldn't be the greatest

candid salmon
#

I think that would promote an unhealthy leapfrog of breeding, so to speak.

hidden storm
#

yeah, exactly

native totem
#

But the salt would be delicious when someone killed their 5th generation Rex

quasi nimbus
#

i mean you still have to grow though

#

and go trough the extra hatchling stage

#

at that point its the other's fault for failing to kill you

candid salmon
#

And you’ll always have an even stronger parent to cater to you.

#

It would promote “farming” so to speak.

quasi nimbus
#

the parents will still be 1.0

candid salmon
#

People would just sit in a corner and bring back food to do it again and again and again until they’re all ridiculous compared to a normal animal.

hidden storm
#

yes, but they're still fully grown and very capable of defending you

quasi nimbus
#

i mean right now on an official server i killed like 5 juvi rexes

#

with the adults actually trying to protect them

#

... sort of anyway

hidden storm
#

that's on the parents for being bad at defending their kid

candid salmon
#

^

quasi nimbus
#

well, if they're good at defending their kid, then they will be rewarded by having it be slightly stronger than them

hidden storm
#

not really a reward to the parent if the kid decides to show that it's the dominant in the pair or kills its parent

#

there's still the struggle of keeping both animals fed

#

if the kid gets hungry and is still with its parent at adulthood, not much is stopping it from just trying to eat them then

quasi nimbus
#

1.05 vs 1.0 rex, honestly they'd both die of bleeding either way, there's not that much difference until atleast 1-2-3 generations

#

you're underestimating the time it would take

#

to actually get something

#

that can wipe off the normal version of itself without a scratch

#

which honestly, if this is added, i don't see that happening

hidden storm
#

i did not say "the child would be able to kill its parent without a struggle"

#

i'm just saying if it knows for a fact that it is guaranteed to be stronger, it might decide to be more cocky

#

regardless of the amount of change

#

and... currently? the time to get to rex is nothing in the grand scheme of things

#

so if you have such breeding going on, it really wouldn't take that long in the current state of things to get a noticeable stat difference

quasi nimbus
#

oh and i forgot to add, growth would also take longer

hidden storm
#

yes, but in your original statement you referred to the "current survival game"

#

maybe when things take longer, sure

quasi nimbus
#

i mean as with the other stats getting multiplied by 1.05

#

growth would also be multiplied by 1.05 which would result in a longer time to grow

hidden storm
#

i think i missed that

quasi nimbus
#

i didn't put it in the original statement

hidden storm
#

eh, still. i just don't believe it would be terribly good of an idea

#

but it's an idea nonetheless

quasi nimbus
#

i think it would be fun if balanced correctly

hidden storm
#

of course

quasi nimbus
#

with edited base growth times / nest requirements and stuff

hidden storm
#

if there were also a chance of a weaker baby, perhaps

#

because always having a stronger baby is just not a thing that happens

quasi nimbus
#

I think that could be a thing with actual growth

#

rather then nesting

#

like based on what your stats look like while you're growing

#

you're gonna end up stronger/weaker bigger/smaller and all that

hidden storm
#

hmmh

#

though i think that was discussed in the past

quasi nimbus
#

like lets say you're one of those guys who knows you can get to 1.0 without even eating or drinking a single time

#

so you go to the corner of the map and wait it out, you'd end up being weaker since of your hunger/thirst

#

or you just don't find anything to eat/drink

#

that would change your final stats

#

while if you had a full hunger and water bar for most of the time

#

you'd be stronger

#

so that way even if they're all adults they're going to endup being all different

#

where the better players have the better final result

hidden storm
#

i guess so

I love that different dinos have better/worse NV, but that could just happen naturally to each player's graphics as the sun goes down.

#

I am interested in any counters to this argument, that night vision is ugly and unrealistic. Anyone think NV as is has benefits over a slightly lightened night, or a very lightened night?

Maybe put in a system to notify users in game 15-10 mins before a server reset

a system to bank points. lose them in game but add them to a bank. if i make it 300 hours alive on my carno, i can then bank them and buy another when it dies etc...

I wouldn't mind the ability to passively gain some type of persistent score or currency that you can use, but I don't want there to be any Get Out of Jail Free cards, personally

stuck magnet
#

well if u banked it, and lost it for that particular dino, it wouldnt be totally free

#

cause youd spend more time as that toon

Tarpit, I think that could work with survival.... considering you can always just start as the baby. But instead of banking a clone whatever, you can make a checkpoint of the beginning of the growth phase you were at pre death... but the next time you die you start from the one before that. Basically you get all the way through juvie and before you hit growth you stock up points and “bank” it?

stuck magnet
#

ya sure that works. especially if it takes extra time in the lower level to achieve it, so its not a simple choice to insure yourself

Yee

truth is, in my wildest dreams, id rather spend extra PP on a whole menu of incrementally scaling buffs

Ditto, hopefully that’s added

Yeah, some type of upgrade system for dinosaurs would be ideal for me. Even if they're mostly minor. Dinosaurs don't have to pool resources to make game progress, so evolutions/upgrades seems like a good parallel to it

Something like evolves evolve mechanic would be cool for carnivores

TBH I'd be fine with a score but only for showing off how long you have survived

#

Because once you get to max growth there won't be much to do if you can get to the point I assume

I think I would rather see some some small numerical buffs (to weight, damage, HP, food decay rate, scent range, etc) as well as more niche things like damage modifiers on certain targets, reduced footstep noise, enemy tracking negation, maybe even very slight translucency when hiding in cover, that sort of thing

brave girder
#

Just being able to try and get the highest score is something many people might want to do

#

TBH I wouldn't want small numerical buffs

#

How are you going to convey to other players that you have better damage / health / stamina or whatever than a normal version of that dinosaur?

#

If it's not conveyed well then you are just going to have people getting into fights and then dying because the other person had buffs that they didn't even know about

#

Losing hours of progress to that is frustrating, and dinosaur stats should stay consistent like how they are now

#

You know what to expect when you fight someone in this game, which is how it should be

rare hedge
#

I actually don't see that being inherrently bad, not being able to see what perks another dinosaur has. That would be part of the benefit of having them

#

Could make some type of merc item that can pick up on it, like a scanner or something

#

Or maybe a perk in itself that can reveal some of a dinosaur's perks by picking up its scent, like the longer you track it/the stronger the smell gets the more information you can get

brave girder
#

I think it would be better to have bigger buffs and or special mechanics / abilities available through that kind of system

#

Since there would be less perks it would be easier to convey

#

Imagine if something like a pounce is locked behind a perk

#

or maybe a better pounce or change to how it works

#

etc.

#

The hard thing about conveying things like this with dinosaurs is that they are animals, so it's not like you can slap some armor on them like in a shooter or RPG so people can easily tell what other players have

#

So it would either have to be skin or model related

#

I guess sounds could also be changed to convey things, but then that just creates more problems with people being able to properly track other players

jade vale
#

I think that the “abilities” idea is cool, and I kind of agree that combat buffs such as dmg or hp would be a bad idea unless there is a way (maybe through scent to convey it... e.g. buffed dinosaurs scent patterns flash on an off rather than maintain a solid coloring)

#

The abilities could be locked behind feats (for Utah raptor small prey pounce it could be “successfully hunt 5 smaller prey items” whilst the larger one would be “successfully hunt one larger prey item” and it would also track progress with your group)

#

Maybe brighter colorings mean better combat buffs

#

So you can’t really just fully buff out your normal stats and camo... buffing camo fully out after hp and damage would return it to a normal hue

I think damage and other stat buffs would be okay if done in a tasteful way. As in no huge multipliers or anything, like maybe a 10% increase or decrease in certain cases
