As for Errant 291, my current theory is that they were just some "spy" that got caught, as for the sweep teams that were sent, I think that may be something unrelated to the incident but was nevertheless grouped as it was an ongoing event at the time. I highly doubt 1 person would be responsible for the disappearance of a unit of three sweep teams

I just hope these GUTS that we've been getting added to the map are able to help us piece together the story more

Im just going to go and throw a wild theory out and suggest that the current game we're playing takes place after the downfall of AE's presence and that Errant 291 was the beginning and that from here on out, there will be no more spoon feeding lore through Discord and that all we have left to work with is what we're given in game.

Like it'll be enough to send us on a rabbit hole journey in the in game universe, first by finding out the story behind Errant 291 through to the diminishing power stance that AE had on this particular site. Then all the nitty-gritties in between which is where we find out about stuff like the Replicator, Strains, Botany, Rivals of AE, In-Universe Companies, Ambitions, Various Research Bits, Specific Species Documents et cetera et cetera.

In terms of Lore, stuff like trail cameras, species glance sheets, I think that they only complement to the universe of The Isle while the main story which leads us to the present comes from Errant 291. Until we get camera footage of what happened to the other unit(s) of the three sweep teams sent through the Zeus Entry, then I am just going to call them complementary. I highly doubt that in terms of the story as to what happened will link Incident Report #████: [AUGUSTUS] to the detainment of Errant 291.

Nevertheless, I am only theorising how the story will go on from here, and we have so little to go from that the two could very well be linked. Afterall, Augustus was documented in a way that seemed like it was done without AE's knowledge, so you could link them via the motive behind Errant 291 which we do not know, but im starting to branch off into theories that have no solid base now.

I wonder if it'll be possible for servers to continue the Annual cycle after every restart, so if a server opened on April the 20th (in-game time). After the restart, it restarts from the time the server ended, so say April the 27th. This way I can see plausible ways in which Solar Eclipses, Blood Moons and other celestial events occur naturally in game. There could also be a simpler way and make it follow some sort of global tracker and if X happens, it also triggers the event in game at an appropriate time.

We theorized in the past about the smoke coming off the top of the volcano, and whether the volcano was active

Well now with that pocket of vegetation in the caves up there, that "smoke" can be explained by condensation from the trees and plants and water source

I've seen this happen above forests, especially in the morning and evening
