You can't make the queue faster. It depends on how many players are in the server, so you probably have to kick the person that is in the server the longest

There's an 100+ player queue and the server population drops because the players are disconnecting faster than the queue puts them back in

I have a question for everyone. I want to know if it's typical for some AI dinosaurs that I spawn with /spawn to not move at all. Some of the AI dinos I spawn on my server don't move at all, yet I've noticed on other servers that they can travel around the map regularly and even attack players.
For instance, when I create a Triceratops, it remains still. Additionally, I would like to know if it is possible to have AI dinosaurs spawn automatically without requiring an admin to use /spawn in-game.

This is due to those Dino's not having a default controller attached. The devs have not implemented the system for those dinos to be "normal" AI and walk around etc.

are the dinos you can spawn in that have AI and will move
I believe there are mods you can get that will spawn them in automatically otherwise you have to do it - but they last until AI is wiped or server restart so its not that big of a deal to throw a bunch down and itll last quite awhile. (important to note, the ones who dont move will not dissapear on an AI wipe - you have to kill them or restart the server) Some of the non-moving ones are actually helpful because they dont wander off or get stuck somewhere - and the AI can see deinos under the water and will run away so I like to leave various sized AI deinos (or others that dont move) scattered around for them to find and eat as crocs have it the hardest in the last few updates.

Because it doesn't just affect 5 or 10 players, but I think several thousand... that's why it's so "urgent"...and I don't think anyone wants to bother the developers or anything, they just want to play.
And I just don't understand it, there are more than five developers seemingly online, but none of them are paying any attention... let alone a server admin or Discord admin seeing or hearing anything about this. Isn't there a community admin responsible for this kind of thing?!

I want to setup a small Ubuntu Server for some friends and me for the Isle Evrima. The Server itself is running fine.
We are in total like 20 peeps, who wanna play The Isle RP wise on that server.
Now we have the issue, that players who are playing Rexes e.g. are starving or it takes ages for them to feed up with just boars etc.
Is there a way to spawn other AI automaticly? Cause only spawn it by hand is kinda annoying
Yes in game.ini increase the ai spawn
You can also use something for max ai at any given time
Im testing on a x3d ryzen cpu and managed to get a huge amount of ai working so far
Although if your server specs are not expensive it will kill your gameplay experience
Im on phone rn so cant say the exact lines in game.ini as at work
For me it only spawns Boars, Goats, Deers, chickens etc. but nothing like Maias, Tento, etc. Only the Gallis in HL and the Dibbles at the Delta. Bit yeah if you only have the Dibbles as potential prey, everyone is only hanging arround int he delta like on HordeTesting. I would like peeps to wander arround the map for AI

And that is exactly what I would like to avoid. Performance is not the issue for the server. I use a big machine for it, where I host Test System for work etc. a HPE DL385 Gen 11 with 64 Core Epyc CPU and 512 GB Ram. But with tons of small AI it could get a problem for clients with weak hardware.
The epyc cpu is not good because of all the cores, its the per core performance and x3d cache that make a huge difference. It will massively out perform an epyc any day. An epyc cpu is good at doing multiple things but there reasoning for use case is different. Not a bad cpu for the job though. Again with the ram its about low latency and speed anything over 32gb is probably over kill for a server.
If users have weak hardware they will suffer playing this game regardless. Again server choking will effect user fps.
Im expecting to see evrima using 1 core mainly for a server. Rather than spreading it across cores. Its usually the case with most game servers.
We are talking about 20 players max, so no high CPU Singlecore Performance is needed.
But yeah I was more look for spawning other ID beside the small critters. You can spawn Maias etc vial cli command, but that is not what we wanna do all the time 🙂 More fun when they would randomly spawn

just 7777? 7777 and 7778? 7777 - 7780 (what i reccomend)
for the server running on port 7778 you also have to specify your queryPort=7778 in your Game.ini

The current version is 0.21.350, are you sure you are running the correct server build?
Also keep a look on your AI numbers in case that you have AI active,not that you have too much off it. Worst case try disabling AI and see if it helps

It's built in C++ using an SDK. I unfortunately cannot disclose how we made the mod following our NDA.
It's just Unreal Engine modding with our lead developer being highly skilled enough to design the app in C++. He was inspired by my web design.
It has taken hundreds of hours. There's plenty of guides online that help with unreal modding. It does have a large learning curve to it unfortunately.

RAM is OK, CPU is OK, but ping will raise to sky and we need restart server. We running on dedicated server with windows using the GSM. There are running 2 legacy servers on that machine too and no problems at legacy servers, so probably no hw issues/windows issue. We also restarted a windows server to be sure but didnt help.
No configuration wasd changed before update to version 0.21.344

Punch is busy with a lot of things, so it's understandable as to why he would take a while.

We running dedicated server and server is running smoothly. Also as I wrote, we running also 2 legacy servers on it and no laggs even with 150ppl in. There is no problem at all with server itself
Thats why i tried tech support here, i can understand Punch is busy... But we wanna report the problem and try to solve it, not just waiting another XXX weeks/months until next "random" fix that can actually help us...
There's unfortunately not much that I can personally do. There's no dedicated role or person that I could direct you to other than Punch, and you've already contacted him. I hate to say it, but your best bet is to be patient.
Evrima is quite a bit different than Legacy so that could also weigh in some factors.
Can you at least ask to somebody from devs if they can check our problem please?
We are not some random small server with fews acounts in, we already registered more than 8 000 active steam accounts on our server in last 30 days after start the Evrima server and our server is mostly at 200/200 players at a prime time 🙁

The only thing I can recommend is to disable AI and wipe it at the time where the lags start to happen and see if that helps.
Else it may be a bug which is specific to your hardware or so

To backup some of what's voju is explaining, is that wiping AIs, wiping corpses, does not help at all, to give full context, our server starts at 6AM CET, and the ping is only slowly increasing with time (of course as the players join), but its getting to a point where its unplayable, reaching 200+ pings with not even 100 players connected.
While before the latest update, we were able to run 200+ players with 1 daily restart only (6AM) with no problems at all, so either we did fked up somewhere (which is unlikely, because barely any settings were changed beside some MZ settings and AI spawn rate reduction), or the update did something that we're not able to find out/fix by ourselves.
The other server owners either don't want to answer or are too busy for that, or wish to keep this as a secret ingredient, which is fair enough, but some official support would have been appreciated.

There’s likely a memory leak with the game
If you’re running Windows doing that “project version” bypass could be a likely cause. That server would have differences between the server and client.
lags were even before .350
The project version patch shared by HEX is not a thing anymore, we removed it a day after adding it, as windows servers are now able to run without it

Are you running on Linux?
Linux tends to start lagging around 100 players in Evrima even on good hardware.
Try turning off small ai - Crabs, rabbits, pterodactyls, chicken etc. We turned them off and have fish everywhere. You can spawn in small/baby Dino ai to give the littles something to hunt.

Well i am stumped. Got evrima server working spot on with my home pc. Ordered a monster bare metal server from ovh and for the love of god i cannot get the server to show up. All ports forwarded etc. Rip 🤦♂️
Start the actual game once on that OVH PC, it'll install some extra dependencies to run the server properly

You can also drop various sized deino AI for the crocs to eat - they don’t have ai so they won’t move or fight back.

Sounds like a port forwarding issue to me, do you have a firewall rule on OVH on top of the windows firewall rules ? (For example we’re using hetnzer and there is 2 layers of firewall, the windows one, and one extra right from hetnzer)

Are you hosting this on your own PC? If so you need to enable NAT loop back on your router otherwise you can’t join a server on the same machine. You can alternatively install Tailscale which works by IP proxy

Well I'm going to build a website paired with a bot like everybody else for custom skin colors etc. I've done some playing around on other servers and I see no other viable option but root access to a servers files and manipulating them for this kind of stuff.
I do alot of programming etc for other games too and I'd like to do some cool stuff for Evrima.

I don't think you'll be able to do it client side, as you cannot manipulate the client from the server.
You may be able to have a bot on RCON which see's the server chat and do commands from chat like this.

they need converting and then converting back
or hex editors apparently

Ok so using python json and sav converter I can convert the file into a json object aka dictionary modify said values and then back into a binary .sav file
Now it all depends if when the .sav file is updated whether or not the server instantly knows about it (like actively reads it) or not

Modding of what though the only files server side to manipulate are the .sav files that hold the player information. I know its modding its not a standard thing.

You can decrypt the .savfiles with the proper keys, and if you know the technique you are able to re-encrypt and toss onto the server.
Most servers run under-the-hood mods though, to manage these things, these aren't most likely in a public space.

But ive tried a couple of things SavConverter with python and eusave with rust. Neither will convert these to json.
Its most likely encrypted with an AES key, and before that you won't get a proper decryption to JSON

Yes none of these servers you see even care about the .sav files. The modding is done using blueprint modding or a DLL built against a dumped SDK

No. Plus that is unreliable to do since how save files are serialized. Small errors corrupt them

Yes. You either can learn how to mod in Unreal Engine or just dump a sdk of the game to mod the server. One requires knowledge of Unreal and blueprints and the other requires you to know C++

I see, the way I'm doing it injects into the exe of the server and launches with it. Then I can simply run Lua scripts along side the server. But it's having a hissy fit.
I’ve spoke with Dondi and he’s completely okay with modding the server. The game was originally designed to be modded. The only thing devs don’t want is you playing as playable that are in the files not meant to be played yet. Either way they don’t care hence why you see all these servers modding.
Minecraft doesn’t even give you official tools to mod lol.
Most dump the game using a C++ dump. I’m not going to specify because there might be bad actors here, but the C++ dump provides all the functions with their params, the structs, and any other data you need. It’s simple as just getting pointers to what you need and calling those functions.
But you have to be experienced in C++ to really know how to do all of that. I’m not aware of any large server using UE4SS. They use blueprint mods and a little bit of C++ as far as I’m aware.

Yes, that's the problem. Rcon can't do it, otherwise everything would be easier and you wouldn't have to work with C++.

If its for your server a Server Side mod using UE4SS should be fine.
Overhead: UE4SS itself isn’t the problem; what your scripts do is. Heavy reflection or per‑tick scanning can hurt. With caching, reasonable intervals, and minimal file I/O, Lua can be fine even on large servers.
Stability: Updates can break hooks/offsets, yes. That’s why we use fallbacks and retry logic. You’ll still need to retest after game updates.
Anti‑cheat: On a dedicated server, anti‑cheat isn’t the same concern as on clients. But you should still respect the game’s terms/support boundaries.
UE4SS is workable if you keep it lean (longer intervals, cache results, avoid expensive calls). If you want the most robust/perf path long‑term, native server mods (blueprint/C++) are the gold standard — but they’re also more work.
Yeah I couldn't get UE4SS to fully work with the server. I got as far as FText throwing a hissy fit. Then I tried to bypass this as don't need to mess with text or UI stuff and it hung on the first Lua scan. Don't feel as though I got it right.
As for the blueprint/C++ direction. I've no idea what that even means at this point to even begin.

Yeah I don't see any harm in using it at all. It's not going to be a problem unless the code you're writing is a problem.
Ya pretty much, using the gold standard is a lot of work.
UE4SS support for C++ to Lua integration is minimal. It’s not really worth it in the long run and to also note the source doesn’t allocate threads like a C++ project can. It’s not worth the hassle coding in Lua unless it’s a language you’re good at. UE4SS itself had a lot of overhead in memory. For small servers running 20-30 players it will likely be fine. But blueprint modding is significantly easier because it’s just the same as if you had the official editor yourself. UE4SS can actually dump the UHT headers for you and then you just build the editor and boom easy as that. It’s hard on paper for those who haven’t touched Unreal Engine but it really isn’t that much difficult.
Programming wise C++ is the fastest and most reliable, of course if you’re aware on how to manage memory, allocate threads, and even handle garbage pointers etc.
Dumper-7 can be compiled and injected into the server process, it dumps everything you need to call functions. You don’t even have to worry about offsets. All the pointers are there for you.
TL:DR trying to mod with Lua is feasible, but it lacks the features and cannot use every function or feature since it’s not native code.
Yeah UE4SS is able to pull everything and it seems the experimental version will do just that. I take it by build the editor you're talking about the UE editor? Like setting up an environment once everything is pulled so it knows what it's working with?
True, Lua/UE4SS: Good for rapid prototyping or extremely simple admin scripts (e.g., "Give player an apple"). Bad for core systems.
C++ (via Dumper-7): Mandatory for performance-critical systems, or networking modification.

Is there any supported method to clean up corpses/dropped items on the map, or is restarting the server the only reliable option?
On some servers I’ve seen what looks like large AI dinosaurs (Deino, Maia, etc.).
Is this actually possible in Evrima, or are these just players acting as AI?

Hello everyone, I have a question. How do you configure your Game.ini to make AI fish spawn properly? I’ve noticed that some servers have AI fish spawning normally, while on my server the AI fish spawn rate is very low. This makes playing Deinosuchus very difficult because there’s barely any food available.

Hi everyone, I need help troubleshooting a connection issue. I'm hosting a dedicated Evrima server on my Windows PC and trying to play on it from the same machine.
Setup:
Server: Local (Windows), moved to Port 9999 (GamePort & QueryPort) to avoid conflict with the Client (7777).
Status: Logs are clean (Steam SDK Loaded, EOS SDK initialized, Map loaded).
Issue: The game gets stuck on "Connecting..." and eventually fails with "Connection Timed Out".
Troubleshooting tried:
Changed ports to 9999 in both
Game.ini
and startup script arguments (confirmed effective in logs).
Verified
steam_appid.txt
is present (376210).
Disabled Firewall completely.
Tried with and without VPN/DPI bypass (Zapret).
The server seems healthy but refuses the local handshake. Are there any specific

configs required for loopback connections on Gateway? Or does the new Steam/EOS networking require a specific workaround for Host+Play on the same machine?

Yes you can, what i do just to get it running is turn off my windows firewall (to make sure its not the firewall blocking) - in my router port forward and enable DMZ, It can take sometime to show up on the server list. make sure configured your Engine.ini | Game.ini - i made a launcher to make this easier if you need to send me a DM.

this is strange stuff, I did the same thing and everything worked, I was able to log in to my server, the next day I couldn't, I have no idea how it works, it already pisses me off, developers are too lazy to create a wiki so that people don't have any more questions, I think it's not so hard

There's a less convenient method: if you delete all the MUTATION entries in GAME.INI, it will revert to the default values. Then, you can check the default values for each entry in the game.

Just got this after updating both the server and the client

What I mean is, in the previous version, if a server disabled BullfrogAI, BullfrogAI would still be spawned, and the AI's name would change from AI_Bullfrog to AITIBullfrog, causing all players near this AI to experience game crashes.

I understand. For example, I don't want the Gastronomic mutation to become the default value, but if I don't change it to the default, the display of mutation values after the player's ENTOMB will be bugged.

yes. im not very familiar with this router, i see some icmp in the firewalls but they are not blocked. ive even tried with the firewall off
apparently my router was in stealth mode, so i disabled that and am trying again,
son-of-a.... well that seemed to fix it... joined just fine now!

hi guys i have a question about server hosting, when running this command: Force_Install_Dir C:\YourFolderName on steamcmd to create the server's files it doesn't do anything, yes i changed "yourfoldername" to my folder's name

On Linux Server have Error data acquisition same too.
The solution is to set bQueueEnabled=true in the game.ini file
Of course, I've already set it up that way, and there have been times when I've encountered a "data acquisition error."

I'm not sure because sometimes I can access the server normally, and sometimes I can't, getting an "Error data acquisition" message. Right now, all I can do is inform the developers to fix it as soon as possible.

I tried this and it took me clicking connect 8-9x but I did eventually get onto my server.
I’ve tried fixing everything—disabling the whitelist, enabling/disabling the queue, and even recreating the folders and resetting Game.ini on the server to default values—but I’m still getting the same Data Acquisition Failed issue. I’ve seen many people say that this only affects Windows servers, but my Linux server is also completely unusable. I’m really stressed right now because players on my server keep messaging me asking when they’ll be able to join again.😭
It sometimes fails but still connects to the server; the developers need to release this patch, but this is a temporary solution.
I dont know it is work or not, try delete"SaveGames"folder before restart once, or just run evrima on your server pc once, u will get a Easy_cheat error, but just ignore it, then restart your server

Unfortunately, we have the same problem because we also have Linux servers. Honestly, I'm not finding this funny anymore. A freshly set up server, ready to get new members, and you haven't been able to access it for two days... who knows if the devs are even aware that the Linux servers still aren't working! Everyone initially thought the Linux servers were working and only the Windows servers were having problems.

seem to fix the data aquisistion error:
turn off server
change queie port to true in game.ini- ensure all are true if using PT
assing queie port to your server in PT
open port in your machine -
turn on server
ensure the queie port is listening and bound
this seems to fix the issue for the most part

Alright, I solved Time and Weather, just in case others have not found out yet how to do that:
These 2 values must be exactly as shown. If one is off, then Time and Weather will be broken.

Also no one was able to join my server since the last recent patches until I turned back on the Queue system.
I did not enable any of the newer vars to further fine tune the Queue behavior:

It would be nice if other server owners could share more about how they do things. While trying to troubleshoot the current issues I visited many other unofficial servers and saw a few nice things there.
On some servers I saw Dinos with very bright skin colors, which are obviously not possible to create/pick in the current in-game skin editor. Can someone share how that is done?
Another interesting thing I cam across is a server announcement which is not shown on the top of the screen but on the left side and looks much more compact and integrated into the other UI elements. If anyone knows how to do that, then please share.
These "nice things" you've seen are modded servers.
You can do it yourself if you're a dev but if you're asking it means you're probably years away from the required knowledge to do it properly. In that case you can buy the mods to someone else who provides them, you'll save the time.
i can confirm the night and day minutes has fixed the issue with chaning time as an admin when reverting to default in the game.ini
Here's how i fixed it.
In your start .bat make sure the queue port is designated.
"Port=7777?QueryPort=27015?QueuePort=10000"
Like others said in your game.ini make sure these are set.
bQueueEnabled=true
QueuePort=10000
Also if you haven't already add this to the start of your Game.ini

the lightning one is something only dondi uses. and zombies are disabled.
data aquisistion error real fix:
- shortcut: windows + r
- go to %appdata% -> local (not roaming)
- delete TheIsle
yes it will delete your data you have to change some settings but it's i think the only way.

@past sierra I dont think it has anything to do with the settings, it started happening again, I just kept pressing Connect and it connected, had to do it like 15 times EOS/Steam transient backend/auth/session data fetch.
Delete the steamapps folder inside of evrimaserver and update the server again
I've set up a script to copy and paste playerdata folder every 10minutes into a back up location. I just tried to replace the .sav + .sav.bak of a player and it didn't work.

Then its best to save rcon player data to a json and keep it updated every x seconds, keep logs of all "previous" dino data so you can find it aswell easily
