This might sound odd, but try to add -QueryPort YourPortofChoice to both your starting scripts, pick 2 unused ports, open em in firewall too ofc. And then start both servers again @velvet pumice

You mean "host a game" as in using the Host button in the Legacy version?

Oh yeah that button doesn't work. I don't know when the last time is that it did, most people are on the beta "evrima" version by now which is the only one getting developed still.
You'd have to go the dedicated server hosting route if you want one of your own, otherwise join existing community servers
I did try joining that beta but when I couldn't click on anything in the main menu
it just kept opening the discord link
That sounds mysterious. Can you try switching to the evrima beta branch and also wiping your config folder? Press Win Key -> Type %localappdata% and just delete the whole "The Isle" folder there.

Hello everyone. We got a server from G-Portal for private purposes, now we have a few problems and I hope someone here can help me. We use a color pack, but the colors are not saved after logging out, although the time is waited. In addition, we were able to form groups before, but this is no longer possible. We restarted the server, restarted the game and much more, but nothing helps. I also have another question about the Ai's: How can you make sure they don't run away? I hope for help and thank you in advance.
I forgot one more important piece of information in case you need it: It is a legacy server.

Anybody else seeing just a bunch of this being spammed in the console post update, fresh Game.ini and fresh install? I haven't tried but I'm assuming that the server isn't going to be in the list per the hundreds of messages a millisecond here

I'm not sure putting it in the startup.bat will work. Just put MapName=Gateway in your Game.ini under the [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameSession] section.
Any server admins have the powershell script that parses the log file and sends the chat logs to discord via a webhook? I believe I got it from here, but lost it when my server was wiped. I spent several hours going all the way back to 2018 to today to see if there is any mention of it. It could have been from someones custom setup guide that is no longer available on google drive. If evrima try removing queue enabled from your game.ini it was an issue in the last patch maybe it’s still around

Did you port forward and are you hosting on the same machine you are playing on? Your modem needs hairpinning enabled to do that.
Try seeing if someone else can join, or if you can join on another pc
this is where I'm at as well, not getting anywhere after selecting join server from list.
Most likely hairpinning problems for both of you. Every server host guide really needs to include that note.
Hairpinning is a function that allows your network traffic to be redirected internally even when provided an WAN ip address to connect to. The isle server is different in that it advertises your WAN IP for connection to devices on your internal network. Most ISP provided routers don't support this. To verify, have someone outside of your network try and connect to your server, like a friend. If they are able to connect, lack of hairpinning is your problem.
Another thing you can do to test if hairpinning is your issue is run the following command in PowerShell from your connecting computer while your server is running, and your ports are forwarded. :
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName YOUR_PUBLIC_IP_HERE -Port YOUR_SERVER_PORT_HERE
Make sure to use your public (WAN) Ip here, and not your internal (LAN) IP, as that defeats the purpsoe.
If the result is a failure, it means your packet was unable to route itself over your own port forward internally. (Hairpinning)
If the result is a success, then you have another problem.
The solution is to purchase routing equipment that supports REVERSE NAT or Hairpinning if you want to host the server internally.

How would we go about getting unofficial legacy servers authorized to use server mods? I know evrima servers are but legacy hasn't been yet

What's the point in "owning" one if nobody will play on it? I like to host my own servers too, but they are typically servers that can be backed up and used offline. Unfortunately, the Isles Evrima isn't like that at all, and we're still at the mercy of the devs supporting the self hosted infrastructure with dependency on the API.
Meaning self hosting the server doesn't really mean anything besides a higher latency for most players, and reduced uptime compared to managed solutions. All the while, the server will cease to exist and will not be usable if the plug is pulled on the self hosted support. That basically goes against all of the reasons I self host these servers at home. Otherwise, you are just providing a subpar experience to people for no return in a game saturated by dedicated cloud solutions with 99.99% uptime and datacenter network support.
TLDR: Selfhosting Evrima is like renting a fancy uber that will be taken away as soon as the company wants it back, you let others use the uber for free, and in turn the company makes the money. It's just not the same as a fully self hosted solution non reliant on the API to get users connected to you.

Probably This @edgy tundra , also no point in removing your IP, as when you start a server it is literally advertised to everyone that pulls up the server list. Would be kind of hard for clients to connect to your server without it.
I realized it's something called CGNAT, I'm in contact with the provider to remove CGNAT and have a public IP address

I don‘t suggest having a server on ZapHosting. They sell you lifetime servers and cancel it when you’re not logging in onto their website atleast every 3 months because they think you’re dead. Terrible experience and Support tells me there’s nothing they can help me with

NAT might not be completely ruled out for me, because I tried on another computer with my hotspot and in the list the server showed a ping of ~100, (but still hung at Connecting....). Where as connecting to the same network as the server running has 0. Also the netconnect command failed on the server. But in looking into the network routers it says NAT/Hairpinning/Loopback is always enabled as of an older firmware/patch, so 🤷♂️
if it helps here are my current server settings, literally just copied and pasted them from the patch notes, little to no changes yet

Forward your ports correctly
Yeah selling lifetime server access for dedicated hosting that typically cost 15-40$ a month is not a profitable business if there wasn't some exceptions. It's a given that there would be some catch somewhere, and anytime you see a deal that's probably too good to be true, like "lifetime" server hosting, you should be skeptical. There's almost no such as lifetime server access for a set price. They won't give you a % for a new Product or any refund because the customers that spend money like yourself and then only use a few months are basically what allows them them to sell to people who keep logging in so cheaply and support the business model. It sucks because people do forget, and don't read the terms. I personally wouldn't do business with them.

A free open port check tool used to detect open ports on your connection. Test if port forwarding is correctly setup or if your port is being blocked by your firewall or ISP.

I‘m kind of Over it but i wanted to tell fellow gamers(and (potentially)server owners) about it and that i don‘t suggest it out of personal experience, server was also laggy at times especially on Evrima.
I‘m curious about legality in Switzerland and Germany about it but else, i‘m over with it.
Aslong you are willing to log into their website ATLEAST every 3 months you‘re good with their Lifetime servers ( which are priced basic at 100$, changing to other games/adding more games to the server costs 20$ extra for each game and remember, 100$ is really just basic.)
You could play all the time on the server but aslong you‘re not going to log into the website, they‘ll delete it permanently.

Most errors you see in this console isn't related for you - or an actual "error" in some cases
If the server works, and the load map does say complete - so if it works, leave it be 😛

I've been trying to get it to work with a valid invite to our community's server by putting in a line-ServerDiscord=https://discord.com/invite/[invite-code-here]-inside the game.ini file, but no luck yet. My server is on a Linux server as well, not Windows. Something I would like to do instead of putting it in the name, and keeping it neat. Would any <@&818552355796287508> members be able to help?

Every time I do click on it, it sends me here to the official discord. I had just thought I could plug in a link to redirect players to my community when they click on the server's discord button.

You just put the invite code at the end of the url, nothing else. If you try the whole URL, it won't work

The Game.ini file format is occasionally in patch notes some older versions of it are in this channel (just search game.ini). Engine.ini is pretty much the same other than the ability to add lines to enable/disable certain logs. If you're wanting to know more RCON commands then those are all present in the RCON Communication Protocol Google Doc.

It works, but you have to format it correctly. I had reported a vulnerability where someone could change the URL to a file path instead and open a file on the users computer. They updated it so that it only accepts an invite code after that.
How much ram should I have in a server for The Isle - Evirma? plan is to have around 20 active people now and around +50 active later on.
Umm you don’t need a whole lot I would at least put 16 min “I run a lot of cores and max ram for all of my servers but I have my own server rack”. for new server and as you grow I would apply more if needed just set up tasks to restart your server ever 6 hours is what I do to keep fps high and to stop any memory problems but other than that you should be good

Originally planned to host some servers on my main computer since it has a 7950x3D and 2x32GB of ram.
Pretty sure minimum now to load the map is about 10gb then it drops to 8-9 somewhat. With 21 players on mine uses 9gb ram and half a core

No, all of em are done through the admin panel ingame, but for automatic announcements/restart warnings you'll need a bot

Only fix i've found is reinstalling it all over again

what is the minimum RAM for server host the isle?
On evrima an empty server uses around 9.2GB on windows, so you probs want around 12 perhaps, no clue about legacy version
10GB, 11-12 with around 20 players.
I would always aim for at least 16 gb of ram minimum

Hello, does anyone know why every time I get the LogTemp: Error: Load map complete it consumes so much Ram to the point of running out of it, I clarify that this did not happen to me on my dedicated server but on this one which is per host it does.
that "error" is normal, but you might just need more ram, 10 is dangerously low, as on an empty server it takes about 9.2 GB already
I have a dedicated server on my own pc and it uses around 7gb of ram, but we tried hosting a server on this website and even with 32gb of ram, it uses all of the ram and it crashes, like a memory leak, once the server starts, it will start to consume all of the ram and crash

Something is wrong with where you placed the configs perhaps, it shouldn't say Maps/Entry in the log

In my testing, if I use SteamID for ban, then the user doesn't get kicked, but the ban works, after they leave themselves. When using EOSID it does kick them as well

As far as I know they have a bunch of encryption in place to prevent most automations that actually temper with the save files.
You will need to run your own store and either automate a bot to interact in-game or have admins manually doing operations

Pretty much every solutions out there will have some level of manual interactions involved. Some are almost fully manual. Some a little bit. You could fully automate it using a bot inside your game server but knowing how this game performs from an admin point of view it seems highly unreliable

The redeeming is the issue on evrima since all the saves are encrypted
The solutions i'm aware either involve admins somewhere in the process or have a computer connected on the server doing oprations automatically in the admin panel which is super unreliable and prone to abuse
This is something I weighed. The amount of hours you spend into developing good and reliable professional grade software vs the amount of real potential "clients" willing to pay a decent license fee on such a niche game is completely unbalanced. My software is technically multi server ready (if I open my NA server again), if I was gonna sell license keys for it there are probably realistically like 3-4 potential real clients out there at most.
There is absoutely zero interest in selling 1 month license keys once in a while to failed servers that will never take off. Running a server on this game is a zero sum game and the few servers that survive are competing for the minuscule pool of potential players out there
Having the unofficial servers buried in a different hidden list and plagued with frequent server list issues because the server list is never tested properly for unofficials also doens't help for new players discovery
Yeah, I resold some older versions of my bots, and the interest was "OK" but then everyone expects something different.
Then you witness the server dying after a week, or they don't even know themselves what kind of server they want to run to be competitive in the market, and they just disappear, and still have them open after 3 years with 0 players.
and from own experience, having sold probably 20 different injection, logbots etc - everyone wants it different and its just hard to find something that satifies the "broader market?" for it to sometimes be worth.
Licenses could be cool, but idk. Its kinda cool having something that makes your server unique than having to "re-sell" it to others though yeah.
I mean my whole thing is a build as one big monolitic (but modular each features can be configured on a per server basis) and run with license keys
except currently there's only a single license out there

I saw "storage bots" which are stricly only a store procedure within discord and have absolutely nothing to do with evrima servers

yeah there is one out there but it looks like it was written by a guy who did 3 coding tutorials on youtube
i wrote my own solution
The good old, make a virtual robot in NodeJS with RobotJS or something, make it move the mouse around to click things based on callbacks gg
then server crashes, or pc restart and you have to make a full login routine with this robot, and screen reading for player names to see if online / offline to grow etc
that's what I use for my remote controlled cameras along with a controller emulator
aye it was what i would do as well if i had to do injections

Voucher codes can only be created in exchange of deleting a save file and they can't be purchased in anyway. Meaning 1 voucher code = 1 dino of that specie that was grown in a legit manner to be used at a later time by someone
aye our system on Legacy has gone wild.
A rex is 80k points, but you get like
1k per minute played ingame
you get a 50% increase if you have below a million every friday on disc (just adds up balance)
you get points from talking on disc, being ingame
We have a quest system, where you can buy a dino, do a command on disc, grow a dino ingame (also gives points worth of the dino)
selling system so you can sell your dino you grew for 50% of the price
all our inhouse games on disc also gives points.

daily payouts 2 times
Hell you get points by just living there.
And our system is so broken the top dude is sitting on like 300 billion points
So we just kinda gave up on it
We also had a page with vouchers on, and coupon codes people could use for free dinos whenever they wanted too
But our most popular server today, is a "Non bot server" .. As in no injections buys etc, growth buys..
just actual growing as you would normally, but you can still request free juvi dinos, and inventory them ofc
yeah but your issue here is that you have an economy attatched to it. At least in my opinon. I wanted to do a purely closed system where you can only create a voucher in exchange of a real dino in game and not purchase them with real or fake money
If you redeem a voucher you know somebody took the time of growing that dino for its "time value"
That is true, but our economy (unlike other servers) isn't tied to people buying those points in that sense.
So theres like
Free inject servers
Servers (US) where they toss virtual points into your face, you can use for free for buys etc
Servers who needs you to buy points with USD
Servers where you need to buy donator roles to even get points to get dinos
Servers who only sells dinos on purchase with USD
The big issue for me is the three below, where its actual money gated - and i think thats a real douche move
We had our exchange system, with vouchers free dinos on arrival, voucher in exchange for dinos
Admins just forgot to use it, and it ended up dying out.
However, we did do a "Free rex for everyone using this code"
and then they could redeem it within 2 years.
We had 20k people going in using the code at same time, so our DB system just went woop max connection goodbye, instead of pooling through the cycle lol
It just really tilts me when people involve real money into being the only way for you to enjoy a server.
So if you are able to create this voucher system, it could be cool!

Yeah so I detect their dino in-game and boot them off the server and delete the corresponding save file from the server in exchange of a generated voucher code holding the specie value
which has an expiration date
then they are free to use their voucher code to redeem it when they please or give it away / exchange it as long as it's not against any monetary compensation
There are more stuff involved like cooldowns on storing and some commands to check a code validity or view their storage and how many vouchers they can hold in their storage simultaneously but that's the general idea
This stego code is still valid btw if you want a full stego on my server

in an ideal world I would save the actual save file for later and allow players to swap save files even if they are encrypted (you don't need to temper with the content of the save files) but somehow even that has some extra check on the server which I don't understand too much why
Yes, a playerdata save can't be saved by copying it to one place and then pasting it back in when the player needs to restore it, indeed the server will do an extra check, and if the player is on a dino that isn't of the corresponding species, then the playerdata save will be corrupted when it pasted back.
If it's feasible to copy the playerdatasave somewhere else, and then copy it back when the player needs it, then it's very easy to make an access dino bot, and a recovery bot as well.****
I have tried to copy and restore saves without tempering with its content and the server always corrupted them anyway

yea, The main thing is that the server log does not show all the status of the player's dinosaurs, such as blood, satiety and other information, if there is this information, like LEGACY can make a conditionally limited storage of the dino BOT, now the EVRIMA server log display information is too limited, for the rules of the server, some of the violations are not easy to determine!
I get why they did that I guess legacy servers went overboard with bloated pay2win garbage but this also handicap legit devs who just want to build cool stuff for community servers
I guess some of these people will resolve to hacking their own server by replacing binaries and stuff like that
Even the admin view doesn't have as much information about the player as it used to, the admin view used to be able to see the player's water and stomach, now you can't see it

Spiro branch no longer has official server, they're all on Gateway (evrima branch). There's only 2-3 unofficials ones, but usually completely empty, sometimes u gotta refresh multiple times.

That is one big chunk for my storage system that I just deployed. Since we don't sell dinos or generate them any dino voucher is a real dino that was grown on the server by a player but I built a whole secure trade exchange for players to trade their vouchers securely without ever revealing the codes to avoid typical scam crap. Also trading is the only way you can hold more than 1 dino per specie in your storage. I really look forward to see for what adult diablos will trade for when the patch is out. Probably multiple dinos for a diablo

Affects the density of AI, 1.0 should be default same as with GrowthMultiplier, then just keep the formatting, 1.2 is a bit more , 5.0 is much more etc

Either wherever you host it has a dashboard feature for it on their website, or on windows for example, you could make a task in the task scheduler that kills the server.exe at given intervals, and the .bat you start it with, automatically restarts it after x seconds, that's one way to do it

You can ignore those files, sometimes they generate when closing the server with ctrl+c
How should i close the server?
If this happens after the server runs for a while then all you can do is ignore and wait for a patch that fixes crashes, if it instantly happens on server startup then you have some other issue

Hi, im hosting my The Isle server on Ubuntu 22.04.4, i have some trouble setting the RCON:
if i use the setting like the last Patch 0.14.28.61, the connection don't show up even in the netstat of the system:

Most likely your steam cmd could have been cached or something if you originally did try to install evrima

We got a new server to try out hosting and is there supposed to be a Database folder in the files? All I see in the Saved folder is a PlayerData with a .sav file for each player. I saw that there should be a .json or a db file somewhere?
Legacy uses .json files for player saves and Evrima has the .sav and .sav.bak files. It's been like that for ages, you're not missing anything, probably an old guide or something.
I see, so is there another way for me to see what species players are currently playing? Because I saw bots that allowed you to save your dino to be regrown by a mod later, but how can those bots know about your species/growth etc.?
The log file shows what dinosaur players log out/in with and what growth, bots can just read that and the rest is creativity^^
The storing of dinos is probably done with the Legacy version of the game. Those save files are stored in plain JSON and easy for bots to read/write to them. When it comes to Evrima, this isn't really possible in a traditional sense. The new .sav files are not readable at this point in time. Even if they were, you would have to convert to json and recompile to a sav file, overwriting the previous one. It's not an easy process.
Your best bet is utilizing logs from the game to collect whatever data you need for Evrima. If you're on Legacy, just google for a working solution.

For evrima I assume?
There's nothing for weather frequency, you can just turn it on and off. Seperately adjusting Day/night time length should be possible once hordetest is over and the patch is live, there's a fix here #announcements message saying "Fixed night time config not being respected"
Since those changes need a server restart, your bot would have to change the config after your server.exe closed and before your start script starts it up again.

I am trying to send the RCON_KICKPLAYER to the server but I get no response from the server to this command. I am using the steamId obtained from RCON_GETPLAYERLIST so my packet sent looks like: 0x02 0x30 <EOS id>
The server responds to other commands and I can do announcements with strings but the kick or ban just don't seem to want to work.
The command is also recognized but I'm just not getting any other feedback from the server
You need to use EOS ID and add a reason for the kick to work

I have a quick Question about the Setup for a Debian Based Server.
I installed the non-free repository, installed steamcmd, installed the App too, all worked well.
Configured my ports, NAT is set up too, and it should be working connection wise.
But when i start the launcher, i get the error that it cant load the map out of a network URL, even tho its leading to a path...
I tired to set it also in the game.ini, but it didnt help.
Error log says the following:

The rest works quite well. But this ends up in a loop where it just tries over and over again to load the map.

No clue who upkeeps that tbh. The unofficial windows hosting guides on steamcommunity however always seem to be pretty up to date tho, since the Game.ini is the same you could always look there when in doubt 😄 Glad you got it working now

tab -> mutations -> press one of the hexegons and then scroll through the mutation list and select the one u want and then confirm
Look at the most recent steam update. Config is all there. All mutations are default if you leave the \ in front of everything.
My evrima server updated, now I can't get it to run. Keeps saying it requires microsoft visual C++ runtime, and asks if I want to install them.

Are we still supposed to add the EpicOnlineServices line to the engine.ini? Or is it not needed? Or has it changed? When I try to connect to my server I get booted out with an error message:

Has anyone got there windows base server working?
i dont think so ^^ when im looked in the unofficial list ingame i see only 3 or 4 servers with players rest is still empty

Anyone had any luck on windows yet? Servers up and showing, shows correct version. But can't connect. Done full reinstall on both server and client
No still waiting on a fix. Other server owners have said maybe some important things are missing in the current build? Server logs seem to be gone?

Yea I'm seeing the same, says logs open but no output. Also removed the map from settings to, wonder if we need to add that to CMD line now. Will test a few things, if I have any luck, will let you guys know. But I'd imagine everyone else has tested these already.
